assassin for a long time has been king of heroic and fall off a cliff in mythic. The opportunity for good players to gain improved performance as the level of content challenge rises... used to be really low, like REALLY low. I think, mostly, assassin is still in a good position for getting decent outcome at mid-levels of play, like heroic raiders which is most players (including not in this discord). But now it can scale better into increased challenge... but maybe with just a bit too much min-max potential, which eventually trickles down and influences the majority

Is it worth it right now? depends on why you want it and what you plan to do with it, but you definitely don't need it for doing combat content. It's nice to be able to craft your own gear without having to find a crafter or pay a fee. If you want to make gold, margins in game are not huge but LWing isn't bad esp if you can get max skill in an armor slot early into the tier, preferably multiple. If you don't need gold and are just looking for something to do, it won't provide you combat advantages, only convenience of being able to craft yourself.
