i just use dorki’s plater profile
it shows all active dots/cc on your targets with timers for easier multi target dot tracking and whether or not you have aggro
i had to swap the aggro and no-aggro colors since it’s a tank player’s profile, but it works just as well for dps
it also shows different colors for priority targets (blue means they have an important interrupt, pink means they have an important cast that needs hard cc)

as a basic rule, mastery never affects things that aren't specifically from that spec/class. Assassination mastery for example will (should) never affect any trinkets, or primordial stones, or whatever external effect it may be, even if they say "poison" or "bleed". Shiv increases nature damage works the same way. If it's external nature damage that isn't available to the base class, it won't get buffed. Most everything can crit, so crit works, and versatility always buffs everything regardless of source.

There are some outliers to this that break the rule, such as ghostly strike increasing all damage on outlaw, or the shadow damage increasing effect from deeper dagger on subtlety. Those are the exception, and assassination specifically doesn't have anything of the sort
