I usually take a loss in dps if it's more fun to play, but when I played sub in prepatch the 2nd charge didn't feel super strong since it was usually used outside symbol of death witch made it weaker.

Your Sub gear might Sim higher but you might actually do less damage because it just doesn't click

Every crafter has their own skill level based on their profession choices. The materials add skill based on their quality. Every item has a set requirement of skill for each ilvl stage. A more skilled crafter can craft high ilvl shit with lower quality materials

I.e. if i have 150 skill, materials add 100, item requires 300 skill, i won't be able to craft it at highest quality because the craft will be done at 250 skill. You can either try to increase material quality to reach 300, hope for an inspiration proc which adds a certain amount of skill, or increase the profession skill through knowledge etc.

okay so heres the problem: in order to make a good profit, you need to find space in the market that no one else occupies. thats hard, because the market has calmed down and saturated by now. regular items that will always see use are enchants, runes (inscription), gems (not so much because theyre already dirt cheap), and potions/flasks

gathering professions will give you the most consistent but low gains

crafting 3star intermediate materials, like alloys, capacitors for engi, inks for inscription etc. have been the big money so far

but that market has crashed yday

i know a guy who made ~150k in crafting order fees on smth he put over 100specialization points in. he also made ~15-20million on crafting things he didnt specialize in at all

because, well, game is weird

the bad thing is that you could go engineering now, get a lot of knowledge, prioritze gears and capacitors, sell them for a profit. but it also means you wont be able to use it to actually craft stuff yourself for a looooong time

the best money atm will likely be in getting a profession that doesnt craft directly from ores/herbs/skins, but has to craft intermediate materials. get to a point where you can craft these at 3-star reliably, and get a shitton of multicraft

blacksmithing has alloys, engi has gears/capacitors/coils, inscription has inks (but those are really easy to 3-star without even investing in it, so kind of pointless). dunno if jc can make some good money crafting phials. no clue about alchemy

ive made some decent gold on inscription because runes sold for 8-10k on the weekend. theyre now down to... 500g.

alloys went from 20k+ to 2k

you can no longer make a lot of gold by just being smart and getting ahead of the curve. you now gotta put in the time

most professions still have profit margins of at least 10-15% on their intermediate items. just gotta decide on one.
