Tos2 compared to TOS1 has way too much kill power on both Town and Coven really.
If coven get PM/RIT or Witch/Jinx they can just start a blitzkrieg strategy which is just kill fast.
Tos1's town also had a lot of KP.
It was just overshadowed by the fact that there were a lot of things wacky about it.
Added KP for town in TOS2 is Pros, Marsh, and Veteran not being unique, but in return, there are more town roles, specifically investigatives, diluting the pot.

The reason why Tos2 feels more fast paced is because there's more going on

If you add all the random animations to TOS1 it'll suddenly feel fast paced
(Again, referring to Coven Expansion. Classic didn't have this problem)
If all anims were disabled and that stupid "who died" cutscene doesn't play whenever someone died during the day it'll ironically feel slower
Since there's less visual clutter
Town does need their KP reduced IMO, but the fast paced feeling won't go away
Investigative roles don't dilute any pot except like the few common town slots

i'd say it's about a 50/50 in terms of slower games, though tbf every fast game is because coven gets royally fucked over

Coven just has really bad luck
