Improving Performance (PC)
1. Use the techtest beta
The techtest is a beta branch with expiramental optimizations. To use it:

Go to your steam library.
Right click Brawlhalla.
Click Properties.
In the menu that opens click Betas.
In the dropdown menu at the top select "tech-test - Testing new engine tech".

2. Set brawlhalla to high performance mode (Windows only)

Make sure Brawlhalla is open.
Open task manager: ctrl+alt+delete. Select task manager.
Click on the Details tab.
Right click the Brawlhalla process and select Set Priority.
Select the desired (high) priority.

For the next options, you must know how to edit a game's launch options:
Go to your steam library.
Right click Brawlhalla.
Click Properties.
The menu that opens should have a text box at the bottom. This is where you enter the launch options. For multiple launch options, put a space between them.

3. The -noeac launch option

Disables Easy Anti-Cheat, which has some input lag issues atm. Note that this launch option cannot be used in tournaments. There are no other limitations atm.

4. The -framefixunbounded launch option

Requires the techtest (see option 1). New and experimental.
Reduces input lag and disables v-sync.
If you get stutters while using this, try:

1. Adding -setfps 60 (replace 60 with your monitor's refresh rate)
2. Using just -framefix. This has the same behavior, but doesn't disable v-sync.

Report your experience with this launch options in #framefix-feedback, giving a full list of your specs and a detailed description of how it behaves for you.

I am having a hard time using orb in neutral, especially against jumpy weapons like the gauntlets. Slight gives the best reward but is really commital and easily punished. Nlight and Downlight are more safe but have really bad range. So I end up using Dair and Sair a lot.

Nair is great for juggling and aerial approaches, you can drift alot with it too. Dlight is the only ranged ish move you can use apart from jumping and nair

entirely disagree the only reason you will go for nsig or rec is to kill and nsig kills 10 damage earlier, its not inconsistent at all as long as you hit a dlight you'll always be able to get it unless they're like black hp then you probably have big problems killing it the first place lol

gc nsig is more restrictive in your positioning

rec can lead to dair or nair at lower damages

misinputting hurts rec less

rec doesn't take your dodge, so you can cd exrec and kill earlier

there are situations where gc nsig is preferable (kill damage. hit at front. rec won't kill)
but, 10 damage isn't that big of a margin
and you especially won't be able to distinguish it

dlight rec cd exrec outclasses killing 10 damage earlier

if you wanna be a nerd, gc dsig kills the earliest

Moral of the story, dlight gc nsig is better used to confirm a kill where as dlight recovery leads into more damage. If your playing twos then dlight recovery is better since you’re less likely to get punished. Gc dlight is also used a lot so you’re forced to do something like jump gc or recovery anyways.

Nsig has slightly more force and recovery leads you into more combos so really it just depends on the situation

I agree with that ^, definitely in 2v2 rec is better. my point is tho @tardy sierra you dont really have a reason to go for recovery for damage because dlight gp is more and if they dont dodge you've got even more damage with dlight gp > gc dlight gp > nair > rec > etc (eventually they should dodge but double dlight gp is a lot of damage for only 1 chance to dodge), and you don't have a reason to go for dlight rec to kill because nsig is always better.
If you can hit a dlight rec you're always in the positioning to hit a dlight nsig and its really not a hard combo to hit or time, theres definitely times like on a platform or when you just throw out dlight haphazardly that you wont be ready to nsig then recovery is better but thats more of a skill issue then the combo being worse.
Most of the time when the opponent "looks" like they'll die to unarmed dlight into rec/nsig I would always favour nsig because as cheese said, you cant always distinguish, and its better to use the safer more optimal option in that situation (nsig) to try to confirm the kill, and even if you've used your dodge for the combo by the time they land and you're back to neutral your dodge is basically back.
tldr everyone has their own preferences and style on unarmed but as for which combos "better" i would say dlight nsig because in the situation you'd use dlight rec/nsig (to kill), nsig will be killing a bit earlier @sharp dawn

dlight rec rec is great and i use it a lot but its in no way confirmed, its very much escapable by jumping out instead of falling and no one at a high level really falls for that anymore, in fact most of them are gonna kill you with their own rec for going for it (stuff like dlight rec > cd down > rec works better since its a good bait). dlight gp until it kills then dlight nsig is a lot safer imo

The way i see gc nsig is yea you're using your dodge but presuming you're hitting it (its really not hard to hit once you've got it down) then losing your dodge wont be a problem since in the current dodge changes you get it back before they can land and in the experimental dodge changes unless they like hold fast fall and dair you (just move away lol) then you're gonna have your dodge back by the time you're in neutral again.

but yea dont get me wrong both have their merits and in the end its personal preference and depends more on the situation, out of a normal neutral engagement i think dlight nsig is the best bet, but for those wonky dlights and weird platform engagements dlight rec is more versatile for that and can be better

ensure your aimup and jump buttons are separated to follow this guide effectively

first way is more inconsistent than the second

dlight > jump > cd > nair

if the dlight is gc-ed (gravity cancelled), you do not need to jump
the cd (chase dodge) is horizontal
this is a true combo on any dexterity

second and better way to dlight nair is the buffer version

dlight > buffer cd > nair

you buffer the cd by jumping in the first few frames of the cd emitting
the timing for this is very percise and will take a lot of practice

ensure your aimup and jump buttons are separated to follow this guide effectively

first way is more inconsistent than the second

dlight > jump > cd > nair

if the dlight is gc-ed (gravity cancelled), you do not need to jump
the cd (chase dodge) is horizontal
this is a true combo on any dexterity

second and better way to dlight nair is the buffer version

dlight > buffer cd > nair

you buffer the cd by jumping in the first few frames of the cd emitting
the timing for this is very percise and will take a lot of practice

I would disagree with some of those changes in control panel (gsync is optional without screentear and ultra LLM is actually worse unless you max gpu%) but any changes are worth trying really

other two are good too it also helps to set windows power management to performance
