so i'd consider them different behaviours

I've had this issue for the past 3 months. On my phone and iPad I am not able to control the character in game or navigate menus. The controller works on other games. I have tried multiple controllers and I have the same issue. I have reinstalled the game multiple times. I have tried Bluetooth and USB. I have deleted and added the controllers as well.

Improving Performance (PC)

1. Use the techtest beta
   The techtest is a beta branch with expiramental optimizations. To use it:

Go to your steam library.
Right click Brawlhalla.
Click Properties.
In the menu that opens click Betas.
In the dropdown menu at the top select "tech-test - Testing new engine tech".

2. Set brawlhalla to high performance mode

Make sure Brawlhalla is open.
Open task manager: ctrl+alt+delete. Select task manager.
Click on the Processes tab.
Right click the Brawlhalla process and select Set Priority.
Select the desired (high) priority.

For the next options, you must know how to edit a game's launch options:
Go to your steam library.
Right click Brawlhalla.
Click Properties.
The menu that opens should have a text box at the bottom. This is where you enter the launch options. For multiple launch options, put a space between them.

3. The -noeac launch option

Disables Easy Anti-Cheat, which has some input lag issues atm. Note that this launch option cannot be used in tournaments. There are no other limitations atm.

4. The -framefixunbounded launch option

Requires the techtest (see option 1). New and experimental.
Reduces input lag and disables v-sync.
If you get stutters while using this, try:

1. Adding -setfps 60 (replace 60 with your monitor's refresh rate)
2. Using just -framefix (-setfps wont have an effect on this). This has the same behavior, but doesn't disable v-sync.

Report your experience with this launch options in #framefix-feedback, giving a full list of your specs and a detailed description of how it behaves for you.

hey guys, any tips for controller input lag?

i'm a controller player and i can't really say when the input lag started (i took a break from brawl about 2 months ago) but now the controller inputs seem really bad. i used a website to verify if it was the hardware but it is not. i'm using a xbox one controller (from the newer versions), wired on a USB 2 (yes, the older one!) port. i had bizarre frame issues when using the controller on USB 3, but if it fixes the input lag i'm willing to give a try. thanks!

Hello , I'm a mobile player .. I'm actually a pretty good mobile player but I wanted to upgrade my playing skills and I couldn't do most true combos with my mobile only .. so I bought a convertor Otg for mobile that turns the Type C to USB.. I plugged it in and bought a PC twin controller .. the controller and the Otg convertor both working in a playstation emulator.. they've worked when I fixed the settings inside the emulator.. when I go to Brawlhalla and click any button like up , down , right , left .. it doesn't work but when I click any other button in the controller it opens the settings menu .. when I try to get in the controls settings inside the game it doesn't show controller pad as it shows in YouTube videos .. it shows touchscreen only .. when I get in a game and try clicking any button it just pauses the game and opens the menu .. what should I do to make it work ??

vrr is basically for smoothing out the frame difference between when the game generates a frame and when the monitor refreshes which also has the same effect of vsync that removes screen-tearing, it doesn't have input delay like vsync can cause (because it will generate them at the same time, instead of using the last generated frame like vsync) but your best bet is to still test it and see if it feels better on or off

okay i made an example to help me explain so basically each yellow line of your monitors refresh rate will need to display a frame but since the monitor "looks" for frames much more frequently than the game can produce them (blue lines) it can (depending on your monitor) cause screen tearing.

this is where vsync comes in which is the red lines on the image, vsync will use the last frame from the game its given on each frame the monitor displays which effectively removes screen-tearing; the problem with this is because your monitors refresh rate will never perfectly line up with the game's frame variance you'll always be slightly late on displaying the newest frame generated by the game (or slightly early and display the old frame as the game generates a new frame) which can artificially create input lag.

so VRR basically constantly changes the refresh rate of your monitor while you play so every time the game generates a new frame your monitor will refresh right away ensuring its displayed instantly; basically the yellow lines in the image will stay the same except for when a blue line is generated - then your refresh rate will adjust to ensure a yellow line meets it perfectly. the only problem with this is that while on average your monitors refresh rate will stay the same, at times it will adjust it to be much lower (only for < 1 second, in fact literally everything mentioned here is happening in milliseconds), which can be noticeable for some, especially on < 60hz screens.

so basically if you're having screen tearing problems i would definitely try it but if you're not having that problem theres not really any reason to enable it. still worth testing for yourself if you're interested though @covert dock

I don't know if it's REALLY brawlhalla related but I'll try to get into it , Is it normal to have the steam currency changed to ARS and the store's currency is ARS meanwhile in brawlhalla the mamooth coins in dollars? Changing regions to buy stuff on the steam market is against the TOS and it’s illegal.

really weird its usually a file problem and you've done everything that should affect it, but out of interest have you tried simply restarting steam?

closing it will minimise it to the system tray in the bottom right so make sure to right click it there and exit

there was an update to depotdownloader that made it funky with some dotnet versions, you might have to mess around with a few of them (first try the most up to date version)

actually maybe before doing this try changing the beta branch to techtest or vice versa cuz that forces an update

then after precheck in ends youll wait 5 mins as brackets get generated
