slight > dlight is true, after that you should read (with dair or another dlight), after you read you should convert your reads into the half pipe as its pretty optimal
smth like: slight > dash dlight > jump > read with dair > slight > dlight > jump > dair > slight > sig/dlight/nlight (depending on if sig will kill) is pretty optimal as a dodge punish, they get their dodge back on the final slight so you can either dlight/nlight for the true combo or sig if you think you can kill with a read out of slight

so basically how do i approach with xannon
dair is one of your best approaches, its super hard to punish and has a great hitbox, and if you miss it, you can cover yourself with nlight or gc dlight (kinda like how sword players do with gc dlight) and then get the true dlight dair/sair/nair from that, sometimes floating above your opponent and baiting out a spot dodge/reaction with dair can work too.
dlight is another one of your main approaches because of how little recovery frames it has, you can get away with missing it, and if they do go to punish, nlight covers you well.
nlight is super fast and has a good hitbox, and sets up into a lot of moves really well, use it on the edge a lot also.
if your opponent is in the air its hard to justify not using nair, its basically unpunishable and has great force, spam it.
slight is a good anti-air and goes really far when dashed, make sure to learn how to read out of this move and dair, and you'll be able to make the most of it.
sair can be a good approach because of the movement on it (taking you out of risk if you miss), but the move has very little distance from the hitbox and your character, so dont try to contest other light attacks with it, chase dodge horizontally and sair is solid.
bonus one which isn't' really an approach tool, but still works really well in neutral is gp, you can gp and release in the air as a bait because you dont actually fall very far at all, and if you're directly above someone you might as well just gp, it actually works surprisingly well, you can do it above the ground and sair after missing or you can let it hit the ground and have a splash hitbox, the possibilities of gp are almost certainly more than you've explored.
use zull dsig on cannon its really good, watch pro player snowy for a more passive take on cannon/zull, but hes really good

I'm sure the first 2 aren't the case, but i can tell you for sure that 3 is lol, whenever you have a project for so many years, and you're working on something this big, you're gonna be dealing with code thats been there since beta, no amount of cleaning it up will make it better, especially with how the game is built with the limitations of it. theres probably something like 15 (estimation from me) devs who actually work on the code, probably lower, menial bugs like this cant be prioritised sadly

its really a 50/50, either you call they're going to gp, and save your recovery for it, letting you cd up, or you recovery to the stage calling that they'll not do anything, and get the touch. you lost the 50/50. a better player will go way lower on the wall (not close enough to get hit by rec), and wait to see what you do, then gp/gc dlight gp
in general using recovery last can be risky, having dodge last is usually better but it depends on the context, dodging first after you get hit far away lets you get it back by the time you get close to the wall (but makes you susceptible to weapon throws)

if your concerns are about the 32bit brawlhalla problem, the newest beta build that you can enable in steam works on all macOS versions
since its 64bit
steam library > right click brawlhalla > properties > betas > click the first drop down, select tech-test. and it'll be 64bit instead of 32bit, which was a reason why it wouldn't work on newer macOS versions (they dont support 32bit games)
