dont play against bots, they make easy mistakes and cause you to have bad habits. play experimental, its the only 'casual gamemode' this game has, alternatively you can spar someone in #looking-for-game who are around your skill level. once you feel like youre stuck again, replay a game you have lost and see what makes you lose the game. you can normally notice bad habits like dodge patterns or bad movement.

i have a xbox elite controller and currently while i always get into matches during the game my controller disconnects from my pc and my network connection in game gets shown as red

controller disconnect is probably with the connection to the controller, try wired instead of wireless or bluetooth if you're already on wired and try configuring the controller through steam big picture mode. use -noeac in the launch options to ease lag, sometimes it doesn't help though bc the servers themselves are just pretty shitty atm

how much of that do you have and uhhh try getting into a local match with 7 bots and do like strikeout or sth
and pick the big fort of lions map
cuz if that doesn't trigger your crash idk what will

it might also be certain skins that are animated cuz those will load extra frames so if you got any if those go ahead and use them in the test
oh and try to have every bot be a diff skin and lengend if you can by manually selecting that for them
