it doesn't actually matter that much as a lot of the taunts will extend over the gravity cancel time meaning you actually cant move in air while the gc is active because you're still in the emote

as i said, the emote length is actually worse if its longer than the gc length because you'll fall while stuck in the emote and wont be able to move, anything that lasts longer than the gc length (like half the emotes in the game is fine), see here -> https://imgur.com/a/YVY67Er, you can look into the image render tool to find the exact longest one but its the same as any of the other ones over like 40 frames

if you truly wanted the most "pay to win" one then you'd look for the one that is closest to the gc cooldown maximising the gc time while also giving you time to move after its over

seems like you need to work on what you're doing after dodging rather than the dodges themselves as long as you're appropriately dodging differently. going straight in after dodging is just as bad as not dodging (e.g. dodge > they miss nlight/wait > you go to punish > they hit you with an nlight > now you're getting 4+ hits on you like you never dodged in the first place). you should also be mixing in jump dodging (jump first) and occasionally some fast falls (but definitely not after nlight, more like offstage) and after dodging you're gonna want to create space instead of rushing straight into them

but generally like, if you're getting read a lot by scythe its not because of scythe its because you're doing something readable, if you don't notice that during the game then as cheese above me said - watch your replays back

its completely pointless for this combo you can just do a diagonal chase dodge and nair for the same combo (you don't x-pivot the nair in this case) or if you want it to look the same you can just slight > jump > chase dodge horizontally > x-pivot nair the other direction. <-- you can do either of these in this combo and its fine because the input will never be true so it doesn't matter

theres always the characters signatures and their weapons that could account for damage being different, for example a weapon like katars does less damage than a weapon like axe

the devs generally try to make legends signatures match their archetypes like a high strength legend will have hard hitting sigs, and a high dex legend will have faster sigs

I'd recommend trying both without network next and with and seeing which is better for you, if you do have exitlag then make sure to turn off networknext (with -nonextworknext launch option

Guys I have a problem on EU servers. Sometimes I hit a guy and I hear the sound of the attack and the animation starts, but then I lag for like several milliseconds and it turns out there were no hit at all. how can you play vs ultra passive corner campers/floaters? Queued 6 games in a row with people that did 0 combos, 0 reads and did nothing but backdash into corners, not engage off stage at all and just spam sigs over and over again.

I beat 4 of them but every match is dogshit and I wanna know how to knock them out fast instead of wasting my lifespan on these worthless shitpiles of human waste.

also the corner is a disadvantageous position because getting pressured forces them to go offstage

yeahh generally if you're losing to a combination of passive AND sig spam from the same player you cant be putting yourself in an advantageous position as even the fastest sigs in the game are totally react-able when you're expecting it, make sure you're using your dodge in neutral if you expect an attack (dont try to predict, just think about what they're going to do (spammers are obvious) and be ready to use dodge if they do go for a sig) and pressure them with floaty movement/dashs and make sure you're not constantly running towards them as that will make it easy for them to spam you to death <- if you're getting impatient you'll find you start doing this + approaching with attacks which both are bad

generally you're gonna want to wait for them to miss using pressuring movement if they're not attacking first and then punish those attacks when you're in a good position, you dont need to try to punish every move but generally moves like bow nlight and scythe nlight are gonna punish you hard for trying to move into the enemy without baiting anything out

and will easily win if you're trying to land on them with an attack

if they're consistently using moves like that you should keep that in your mind and change how you approach accordingly, depending on your weapon theres plently of good options against which you can do either as a punish for a missed nlight or to catch them out before they go for one

but whats most important is that you're thinking about what they're going for and play around it, depending on the skill of the people you fight they'll either not adapt at all and you just get a free win by playing around what they're doing or you'll force them to stop doing their gimmick/"spam" and you have an advantage by forcing them to play 'your game' instead of how they planned to play

both weapons have a pretty decent dash dlight approach once you've pressured them a bit in neutral and notice they're not floating, you can generally move into people pretty safely with gauntlets and use slight/nair as a reaction to their movement but naturally it depends on the situation

but i would say dont throw out too many committal moves like don't approach too much with sword slight or overuse gauntlet dlight as that can be pretty easy to punish

and if the player is using platforms like you mentioned you can keep in mind that pattern they use for touching the platform if they're floating above it/dashing on it, like generally people will do a certain amount of jumps before they land on it and from there you can catch their landing with a sword nair or gauntlet nair/rec

keep juggling them when they try to land pretty much, that can help a lot

generally though these are just tips a lot of players in gold (im guessing we're somewhere in that rank based off your role) can be beaten by just punishing their bad habits (constant dodges in, bad approaches, just waiting for them to miss a committal attack like a sig) and you can abuse those habits to give yourself a big advantage regardless of how "unpunishable" they're playing

yea i'd say the kind of players you'd play against are pretty gimmicky if they're doing fast sigs (like vraxx or wu shang players come to mind) generally if you just play around those kinds of "smart spammers" their gameplay falls apart pretty quick when it doesn't work and you can get a free win, generally just dont feel like rushing passive players is what you should do as matching their pace and forcing players who dont like to approach to approach you is generally gonna be better

you can rush those kinda players when you're easily better than them but when you're losing to that kinda gameplay its better to slow it down and think out what you're gonna do instead

I think its really gonna be opinion based more than anything, all of them are viable and gauntlet legends in particular are all pretty decent and played at a high level, just try them all out and see which ones you like the most

I mean, in the end i think playing what you find fun will be the best way to improve, you don't wanna force yourself to play something you don't like. I'd check out tezca since battleboots also have active input like scythe and are kinda similar, or caspian as katars are also a string weapon (not rly similar to scythe but both weapos are meant for stringing your opponent)

you dont really need to commit to a specific character anyway having one weapon you can rely on is enough really, but it can help to become familiar with 2 or 3 chars and maybe you'll switch between them depending on how you're feeling

I find tezca the worst (let's not express the words) ever created. Caspian is interesting, i love his sig kit, but the katars i'm really bad at.

i feel like in order to improve i need to focus on 1 character, i have 1700 hours into the game and i play like dogwater, because i've never really gone into training mode and learned a character inside out.

i can play every weapon at plat level no problem, but getting past this point is just hard

well, enjoying a char is the first step to improving on them, i dont thinkyou should avoid a weapon/char cause you're bad on them, in the end the game is balanced well enough that you can climb on any char and wont be held back

I would say make sure you've given every char a chance and see which one you like the most and try to commit to them for a couple weeks, see how they feel once you've become used to them and you'll figure out some of the gimmicks, etc on them (like caspian nlight > nsig on katars or how you can use katar dsig on the edge and then attack right after to cover yourself with a nair/dair/gp) and you can utilise those in ranked once you feel comfortable on them

Generally I dont think sticking to one char or even one weapon is required to improve past that point but it can give you the edge if you know more about your char then your opponent does

But like don't feel like you NEED to, theres always more general things you can improve on that aren't related to one character (movement, spacing, etc)

I think a big part of improving past a wall isn't just practise and putting the time in its also making sure you're consciously thinking about what you're doing wrong/why you lost, basically making sure you've learnt how to learn (from mistakes, etc) and working to not repeat those as it can kinda lead into being hardstuck. you can definitely help get past a wall by improving different faucets of your gameplay but if you learn new things then go into ranked and repeat the same mistakes (maybe constantly getting read cause bad dodges, or suiciding offstage when you didn't need to, etc) then it can lead into that cycle of win, loss, win, loss. Some people find reviewing their replays ingame help them a lot to notice mistakes but its totally fine to notice that ingame/at the end as long as you've taken a mental note of it.
Another thing to mention is when you're ingame while you should be thinking about what you're doing, if you're constantly getting hit/making a mistake you also want to focus on what your opponents doing/moves their going for/movement and make sure you're thinking about how you can counter that/play around it, same goes for the direction they dodge (especially important on gaunts/scythe) and when they're dodging, opponents will have bad habits the same as you and you can abuse those for wins, especially on a character like mordex, if you only think about what you're doing in a match then it'll be a lot tougher, and same for if you constantly think about your opponent without realising you're making mistakes which can lead to your loss (e.g. constantly fastfalling into nairs, dairing after being hit away offstage unarmed, etc).

Secondly yea i do make allot of those mistakes, and i should focus on that more. but i use the lack of main as a excuse to not focus on that, and somehow it demotivates me to even play not knowing who i want to play. kinda softlocked myself mentally xd but i'll take all this helpfull advice very seriously! As i do want to reach diamond finally after all this time

i should also watch more of my own replays and pro gameplay to learn from my mistakes and see how others handle things

yeah, i think thats a great idea :) and don't be too hard on yourself, plat is already more than above average :) I think as long as you're enjoying that process thats all that really matters, but yeah, self reflection is super important in this game and having the discipline to stop your bad habits, as you do that you develop good habits which help a lot, like, its less to worry about mid-fight
