sword dsig just float above them and punish

prefer hitting nair right below them so it sends them up. if you hit on the side you might be able to get a sair

if you're on pc, you just need to replace the background files.
in the library, right click brawlhalla, preferences, local files, browse local files
navigate to mapArt > Backgrounds.
change those files. MAKE SURE THE NEW FILES HAVE THE EXACT SAME NAME AND EXTENSION AS THE OLD ONES. or just edit the old ones.
you can undo this at any time by reinstalling, or verifying integrity of game files (a button in the same menu as "browse local files")

Controller disconnecting might just be the controller connection, it happens alot to me too. Are you connected via a wire or bluetooth? You could try the other way if possible.

spear is mainly a spacing weapon. you have a blind spot close to you, so keep opponents away with sair and nlight, and punish bad approaches
lance is also kinda spacing? lance is kinda weird.
you have a lot of horizontal priority but very little vertical one, so mainly try and punish bad approaches and panic jumps.

the order of options you should generally use is jumps, then recovery, then dodge
some characters also have sigs that can give them decent height when gravity cancelled.

try and get to the wall first thing. if they're trying to cover that with a gp, float out of gp range to avoid it, or just up dodge.
DON'T BE TEMPTED TO GO BACK OFFSTAGE OR PUSH ANY ADVANTAGE YOU HAVE THERE. GETTING BACK ONSTAGE SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST PRIORITY.
stage control is more important than flashy kills*.

*if you're playing asuri you're obligated to katars gc nsig any opponent offstage.

yeah what happened is you hit platinum while in the placement games (which hide your elo but are basically 3x more elo lost and gained) and then your final rank after 10 games was lower than your peak rank while playing those 10 games, we're actually unsure what happens (since this feature is new to this season) if you finish the season with a peak lower than plat while having the plat icon since you technically hit plat in the placement matches so I wouldn't really trust the game showing you got plat and if possible try to hit 1680 if you care about the rewards, just in case

i would assume that it wouldnt matter if you peaked in the placements or not. im guessing that you would still get the platinum rewards because the placements wouldnt be set to effect them

yeah but as far as I know what that happens it'll show you as plat icon'ed but you wont have the peak elo you technically reached in the placements, you'll have a peak elo of whatever you finished on
so you'll see the plat icon but it'll end with current elo : 1660 peak elo: 1660 - unless of course peak elo shows higher than that for them (above plat) then it shouldn't matter anyway they'd get plat rewards

@dry flax the game uses your peak rank to decide placements, however we dont really know if that would get updated to plat while in placements, hence why i think its best to try to get plat normally.

If the game has decided you already hit plat despite ending lower than the required elo then it wont matter if you lose elo or even fall out of plat completely as the game uses your peak for rewards, presuming you were already eligible for plat rewards then you'd get them anyway. but if the game hasn't marked you as eligible for plat rewards since you got it in your placement matches then waiting for the season to end you'll just not get them, and you'll probably wish you played in the first place

basically - if you already are getting the plat rewards then losing wont affect that, but if you're not gonna get them and you dont play then you wont get them at all, so you might as well try to confirm it by getting plat normally. if you cant get plat normally then just hope the game marked you as plat when you got it in your placement games

Hammer combos rely on dlight. Dlight sair and dlight dair are your main combos but dlight is pretty inconsistent and very punishable atm. You’d mainly need to hit raw aerial moves or while grounded, fish for dlights as your main source of damage and killing. I’d recommend waiting and seeing if hammer improves next patch as it is a very frustrating weapon to use atm.

It really depends on the signature, in the case of bodvar ssig - nah. you're gonna be in recovery frames (where you cant do anything) for much longer for almost the same distance a diagonal/sidewards dodge would get you

signatures like thor orb nsig or tezca battleboots nsig are great for recovering back to stage and can be used pretty safely and as a second recovery, but you still have to keep in mind if you're not hitting the enemy with your nsig you're gonna be venerable afterwards for a few seconds since you'll have no dodge

So to answer your original question; is it a good idea? sure, but only if you need to (need all the height/distance you can get as you're low on options or really far away) OR if you know it'll hit them (though it a lot of cases a nair will be safer)
