Anyone know how to get there?
Hey yāall I was wondering if someone could explain The death of the governor campaign, like I get some of it just confused on the majority
@scenic obsidian you see that features end of sleeve become so big many wmm skin have this feature. also i ever see this feature in real clothes. i not fan of it i don't like it.
do you know lore behind it
#šlore-chat message this may help you (it's about the boss design), his death was a mystery even irl history
The celestial vanguard were inspired by a God of Taoism named Yangjian or Erlang Shen
You can see where they got the inspiration from
Itās a combination between Er Lang Shen from Black Myth Wukong and the movie Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms
Honestly I know wwm is rooted is Chinese culture but it looks like thereāll be a lot of differences due to the presence of martial artists and more. Like the presence of the former āEmperorā we saw at the beginning of the game
mhm, but honestly they stuck to history pretty well, it's just that they use fictional stuff as a backup to fill in the holes & uncertainty of the rl historical events, the ending doesn't change, but with a touch of metaphors & fictional events
correct me if i am wrong the hexi stuffs is about our character being homesick and coping that our home will no longer be there or be the same, am i right? (besides the historical story telling just added some wuxia stuff)

the "emperor" we saw at the beginning was one of the openings they used to introduce fictional events, bc irl, he's supposed to be dead in 908
that crazy big sleeve
yeah dream of the pass
she still sleeping
Itās more complicated than that.
Itās more complicated than that.
how complicated. like that lamp look funny creepy pasta
(assume you know the reference)
||The Hexi chapter contains three major symbolic motifs.
First, the Anxi Army and Shazhou represent historical continuityāembodying themes of territorial integrity and cultural cohesion. This is framed through the grand historical movement of āreturning to the Tang,ā which serves as an allegorical reference for the approach we will take in Yan Yun S Sixteen Cities.
Second, as part of the main narrative arc, the Hexi chapter connects to the protagonistās search for clues about Aunt Han. Within this thread, the woman in the yellow veil and hat is set up in deliberate parallel (antithetical symmetry) with the protagonistāa relationship that will be further revealed in later developments of the story.
Third, there is the motif of a spiritual resonance between the muralās creator and the protagonist, symbolizing the transmission of memory and emotion across time.||
hallu what are the utuk raptors supposedly in the game? why was the anxi garisson attacked by them. From dong whitecrown fortress it seemed to me they represent a rival army but the game used vultures for them. Who are they supposed to be?
uyghur and ancient tibetans
anyone at the lion boss? š
Too quick

How can I start liangxhou main story? Need calvary decimate

guys
š„
why lis liangzhou in ruins when i fnished Death of Governor quest?
Its bc we farted on it
i dont get it?
wait wanna ask is lian dao zi the guy where he help burlap sack?
hugee spoiler ||Guys Ruby is alive!||
i figured but my friend said this:
That's an interesting symbolism, though Bodpa(Tibetans) were the ones who took over Hexi, Uyghur Khaganate was on good terms with Tang at the time and after the Tang forces retreated from the region Hexi was briefly controlled by Bodpa and eventually Uyghurs
In the current time period of the game, Uyghur Khaganate has already fragmented and the region is controlled by local regimes till it gets taken over by the Tanguts who formed the Western Xia(roughly half a century after the game)
so he's saying its not the uyghurs
shouldnt there be rules on spoilering lore that just came out?
idk itll be nice not to read this immediately lol
Oop, Iāll put a spoiler heh
thank you ^^
Yeah I'm leaning towards tibetans as well
Though we did see Uyghurs in burlap sack story, where they were taking advantage of the situation and joined in the pillaging
I am feeling like there are Uyghurs.
Because the Burlapās story already have raptors
Which is 20 years earlier than the rising of Tibetan in Hexi
Maybe be it still an artistic interpretation?
And the the Utuk is very close to the Ancient Turkish language the word for battle banner/totem
Tug
And the Uyghurs battle banner/totems are eagles and vultures

anyone experiencing this?

will update when i get there
Because when the governor was died, the Liangzhou was doomed..
Hello, does anyone understand Liangzhou Melody? ||Was the girl actually an immortal? Were the other people real and not illusions? Why didnāt he run away when Liangzhou was burning?|| Sorry for asking a lot of questions I really didnāt get it
Itās all metaphors
what did the metaphors mean
Itās not meant to be taken literallyāthe whole story is symbolic. The girl isnāt actually an immortal; she represents memory, longing, or an idealized past the protagonist canāt hold onto, while the other people are ārealā more in a narrative sense, like fragments of memory rather than fully grounded individuals. Liangzhou burning symbolizes the collapse of a worldāhis home, identity, or an entire eraārather than just a physical event, and the reason he doesnāt run is emotional, not logical: leaving would mean abandoning what that world means to him, so the story is really about attachment and loss, not survival.
āLiangzhou Melodyā conveys that peopleās longing for their homeland does not disappear even when it has physically ceased to exist. At the end, it interweaves seven or eight well-known folk songsāincluding Uyghur, Mongolian, Hezhe, as well as folk songs from northern and southern China.
Liangzhou represents an outpost beyond the frontier where people, unable to return home because of sweeping historical forces, gather to long for their spiritual homeland.
OK SO sorry if this is a stupid question in some way and u can flame me for it but
Since Hexi is basically a dream of the past, then what is it in the present yk? Like kaifeng/qinghe time. Like did it go through what Chang'an went through?
Or do we js not know yet š
Hexi is river west Region
Kaifeng and Qinghe is the river south region
The entire region were no longer under the control of China at the time of our main-story line
Hexi isnāt just a ādream of the past,ā itās a real historical region (the Hexi Corridor), but in the story itās used symbolically. By the Kaifeng/Qinghe era, that region was no longer under stable control of the central Chinese state, so it didnāt really āgo through the same thing as Changāanā in a direct narrative sense. Instead, it represents a lost frontierāplaces that were once connected to the cultural center but became separated due to war and historical upheaval. So in the āpresentā of the story, Hexi exists more as a memory-space or cultural echo rather than a fully integrated part of the same world as Kaifeng.
Which is also the reason why our MC canāt travel physically from Kaifeng or Qinghe to Hexi from our current map, because that area were under control of several different regimes, it was consider foreign territory.
So Northern China in Tang Dynasty used to have Hedong(Yellow River East Region), Hexi(Yellow River West Region), Hebei(Yellow River North) and Henan(Yellow River East). At the time of our main main storyline, we only have Hedong and Henan left, Hexi and Hebei were both lost
Hebei were controlled by Khitan, Hexi were controlled by Tibetans and Uyghurs.
A little bit of geography lesson
In ancient China, the north and the south were defined using two different rivers. In the north, regions were oriented around the Yellow River: Hedong (east of the river), Hexi (west of the river), Hebei (north of the river), and Henan (south of the river) all refer to their positions relative to the Yellow River aka Huanghe. Correspondingly, in the south, the Yangtze River aka Changjiang was used: Jiangxi (west of the river), Jiangdong (east of the river), Jiangnan (south of the river), and Jiangbei (north of the river).
Ohhhhhhh
So which country is Hexi under the control of now?
China
Wair what
Does the map of the game roughly similarly match the locations in actual China?
It took China 400 years to regain control of Hexi
Kinda of
Ohhh, and that's after the main storyline dates
Way after
U mentioned Hexi was kinda like a memory/fragments of one, so does that mean after it was no longer under stable control of the central Chinese state, or like the period which it did, we dont know what Hexi is going through during main storyline times, just know what it used to go through
ššš
We already have to worry about the scary Khitan in the North controlled the Hebei region.
Hexi would be too much.
I forgot how exploring Hexi would contribute to MC's adventures icl... got too caught up on the stuff that's going on there
OH BONUS QUESTION
Is that why the oddities are js on stone slabs when in our inventories?
In a sense, losing Hexi was not entirely a bad thing, because it meant China no longer directly bordered the Middle East, which at the time was caught in ongoing arms races and repeated Eurasian conflicts. Given the Song dynastyās relatively limited military strength, it would have been far from capable of simultaneously confronting the Khitan and the successive Arab empires.
Ooooooh, okay thanks for the info! So the map will permnently stay like that then?
Yep.
Exploring Hexi isnāt really about advancing the MCās plot in a direct, linear wayāitās more about shaping the MCās understanding of the world. Hexi functions as a āmemory spaceā where the MC encounters lost histories, displaced people, and fragments of past civilizations, which deepens the emotional and thematic weight of their journey rather than pushing the main quest forward mechanically. And yeah, the oddities being on stone slabs is very intentionalātheyāre like preserved imprints or echoes of the past, not normal objects, reinforcing that what youāre collecting are memories and cultural traces rather than physical loot.
I always said the Global Server should skip Hexi to the next chapter because too much history lesson even a lot of native Chinese people having trouble figuring out whatās going on and the censorship against mentioning Uyghurs and Tibetans just made it even worse. Plus it wonāt hurt much because the entire Hexi region wonāt ever appear again in the history until 400 years later.
Omgš
Side quest disguised as a main quest
It also made my job much much more difficult
I can tell, youre working overtime š„¹
I am basically have to act that dude deep in the Warhammer 40K to explain whatās the difference between Necron and Tzeenth to someone never even play the game before.
Might aswell just explain the whole game šš
Well thanks for the history lesson, rly appreciate itš¤©š¤©
ngl as a person who was in chinese orchestra, really love LZ melody story
The ending hits home to me.
thank you!
When you hear the lyrics of folk songs in Shanbei dialect, Uyghurs language, Mongolian, Nanai language, Hunan dialect, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and Wu in the end of Liangzhou Melody.
It made me cry

whats the meaning behind the lyrics that sandy musician keeps singing/reciting? (at the start when you move from sandy to snowy area)
started out as "ten men rode out from the desert" and was counting down to 4 soldiers i think, 2 remain 1 minister or smth
The lyrics the sandy musician recitesāstarting with āten men rode out from the desertā and gradually counting downāare likely a stylized, poetic reference to a small group of riders (originally āten riders leaving a frontier pass,ā like the Chinese phrase åéŖåŗę£å ³) who set out on a dangerous journey and are slowly lost along the way; the countdown structure emphasizes attrition, sacrifice, and the harsh reality of frontier conflict, where each step forward costs lives, until only a fewāor even oneāremain, symbolizing both the brutality of war and the persistence of memory, duty, or mission even after nearly everyone is gone.
San Pass (Sanguan, ę£å ³) was a strategically important mountain pass in ancient China, located in what is now Shaanxi Province, serving as a key gateway between the Guanzhong heartland (the political core around Changāan) and the western frontier regions such as Longxi and the Hexi Corridor. Because of its narrow terrain and defensive advantages, it functioned as a major military chokepoint, often controlling the movement of armies, supplies, and envoys between central China and the northwest; as a result, it frequently appears in historical and literary contexts as a symbol of frontier tension, departure into danger, and the boundary between the secure interior and the uncertain outer regions.
š®
Basically, itās similar to Hadrianās Wall in Britain.
HeXi is roughly comparable to the lands beyond the Wall in A Song of Ice and Fire/The game of throne
And San Guan is the northern wall.
Liangzhou is roughly equivalent to Winterfell.
(Sorry to interrupt, just here to say that I think the lore in/of the Ghost Market is really cool!)
Itās also pretty close in meaning, Liangļ¼åļ¼means chillyļ¼Zhouļ¼å·ļ¼means stateļ¼So Liangzhou means chilly state.
Pretty close to Winterfell
Guys, I can't start liangzhou main quest, how can I get complete calvary decimate
Owww
. Dont mind me I'm just bookmarking this so i can come back to read later
Whatās the relationship between Jiangnan and Gangnam from Gangnam style which i assume is just Korean pronunciation of Jiangnan
wait anyone knows whats the connection between ||xiaolian and lian daozi?||
||are they the same person?||
Sorry if this has been asked before but, where would Chang'an be in relation to kaifeng on a map? And also where would weiyang be?
When is the grassland map coming out
yup that is zhao guangyi in his commoner disguise and using jin zhongyuan name
will see in unseen mountain
Yoo, is this new update buggy for you? š¤
let's go to #š¬martial-pavilion this channel is for lore
Oh okiee

thanks for this!
About the Paper Moon story, specifically near the end of it: ||Did I miss something in regards to her eyes? Why did she lose them? Some sort of ancient barbaric punishment for people accused of adultery?||
i love chilli š¤¤

honk honk!
the lore of this game is hard to follow if u only do the main quests
if you have bad memory too i dont remember anything
What is changan?
The capital of the tang dynasty. One of the best dynasty til everything went to hell, leading to the five kingdoms dynasty then to the beginning of the song dynasty which is the current era in the game. The area still stay till these day and is known as Xian which serves good noodles
can anybody record me what happen if you give the book to wen yuan?
they're so cute
honestly the lore of the story is hard to understand period. It makes a lot of assumption that you have prior knowledge of Chinese historical events.
Lian daozi is Xiaolian from the burlap sack quest right?
really?
Is this lian guy in laingzhou son of liam the one who was give the cotton seed by burlap sack
no, its so she basically will listen to the family and get married like they wanted her to
I think the family wanted to disable her, so she stops "acting up" and trying to go against their schemes, but in a way that was still marriage material, so they went for the eyes
That's... insane. š
And then ||The grandma had the gal to ask "are you angry with me?" or whatever it was||
the grandma knew that at the end it wasnt her
||ćA good well-behaved daughter would understand that family decisions come above any feelingć|| type thing
Thank you both. I liked both of the main stories so far, but that part threw me a bit.
yeah was commonly accepted during that time that basically the best thing a daughter can do is be married off to a good family
an unfortunate product of the norms they lived with back then
Hey is there a reference guide to what in game is based on history and/or mythology?
It's very old-school, but it's not the first time WWM brought up arranger marriages and traditionalist view on women back in the time. No matter how many strong women they have, the people still stick to old concepts. Just of the top of my head we have:
- Feng Ruzhi is presenting herself as the prize for winner
- Ghost Master Jiang Kui's sister was sold into ghost marriage. He works to save girls who fall victim to this practice, while looking for a way to bring his sis back
- Li Zhenzhen was bought into arranged marriage, but she was rescued
- both these stories have uncountable unnamed women who were victims and suffered or were rescued
- daughters of Wen family are said to be treated as a commodity, the only thing that saved Wen Wuque (||Yingying||) from this fate was that she was separated from her family after her mother's death
- Shen Yu, no comments, it's just her plot
In all these stories women are treated as commodity to be wed/sold/won into arrangements, to the point that some groups would equate them to corpse "husbands". There are many stories in WWM that go about relationship in a nice way (Zhu Yu and Feng Yi, Wei Zhixi and Zhao Pu, Song Yu and Fuling and plenty more all seem to be/have been happy in their marriages; Zhai Chun rejected Zhang Su and he took it with grace, etc). There's a range to it in WWM world, but the devs don't turn away from the ugly parts
Unfortunately, noš you just have to Google names and hope it lands on someone's Wiki. You can also cross-reference events by year 962. The big-name locations are all based on real life, but smaller ones aren't [ex: Kaifeng is real, Dreamfall Cliff isn't]
Yeah I was looking at videos of Kaifeng earlier. I'll check some stories out and see what I can find
A lot of events referenced as in-game history are irl events. An Lushan rebellion happened, Lady Gongsun likely existed *, but Liyuan opera (irl source for Masked Troupe) did not go into seclusion. Emperor Wuzong indeed persecuted Buddhist practitioners, monk Liaowu might've existed *, but there were no Midnight Blades formed
*don't quote me on either of those
I understood that part, ||it was the seemingly random loss of sight that wasn't mentioned that confused me. I thought it might have been some brutal punishment of the times to do with adultery and looking at another while being betrothed, but I wanted to ask whether I missed anything. The fact that it seems to be 'just' a method to instill discipline is even more insane.||
What we know: Zhao Guangyi, Zhao Kyangyin, Zhao Pu and Shen Yilun are all irl political figures. Some of Sect masters are vaguely based on irl people. Li Yu existed, but he's getting extra-glazed by devs. Zhengs were a real clan from previous dynasty, but it's unlikely they had an insane son like Zheng E
It might be a thing discovered through encounter/wandering tale/dark surgeš¤
Maybe, guess I'll find out eventually ^^
That's the spirit^^

The story as game progresses is pretty goated
guys game not working on pc how to fix it. error connection failed
wait anyone knows whats the connection between|| xiaolian and lian daozi||?
are they the ||same person||?
Bruh this new story is SO BAD! Itās a walking and yapping simulator idk why they think we would want to play something like that
No it's his grandson I guess
Lian daozi and xaolian are grandson and grandfather respectively
So they are not the same person I was confused too at first but after the whole story it's more clear now
Ohhhh no wonder , they look so similar , thanks for clarifcation
yea they were talking about grandpa (but didnt know they are referring to xiao lian)
Yeah and he tells a story about seed because it was his grandfather who brought the cotton seed to main china ig
In the last cut they show everyone playing songs at the tower and another person with the pipa and he was wearing same clothes as xaolian so it's clear now
One of the best stories of the game so far imo
yea as a person who was in chinese orchestra, I really love the music lore behind it
someone actually told me the exact thing to me " Songs dont die etc"
Damn i wish they let us play that changnan song like uk in mechanics
Dao zi playing that pipa , i think its called Liuqin , Pipa is bigger and longer
it feels like that
That whole thing about when u look from the tower u see ur home was so good ... Like ironically u js think about ur home
Xiaolian was leaving Hexi for the first time and he looks young so I thought it's Daozi, since the book only states his grandfather leaving when he was like 65. But their demeanors doesnt match
Oh i don't know it said pipa in the English version so
yea its somewhat a pipa
His grandfather left home when he was 65 for fame and glory or sum ... But it told nothing about the past tho
but this one is a much high pitched one
And his mother died
I see
im even surprised they actually have guan zi in the musician
its a very underrated instrument ppl even talk about
in chinese orchestra, rarely ppl use guan zi
Kinda felt whole thing was an hallucination after the first night at the inn ngl cuz it's way too obvious and suspicious
Yeah he arrived in Hexu at 20, left once at 60 and again at 65, last time is for Chang'an.
Maybe burlap sack is one of the times he tried to leave but didnt, hence the "3 times"
Guan zi is the one instrument where the musician siblings are playing
I see
Burlap sack definitely died on that rock tho
Maybe he js wanted to b optimistic or sum idk
I see
What is that big string thing that's guan zi ?
O yes it was
its a blowing instrument
No no like big string thingy many strings
Guan zi (u can the sibling blowing some small tube vertically down)
What angels play
the harp?
Harp yes
guzheng?
I guess bro all ts names so similar n hard I can't remember half of their names
Guzheng is the one where , its flat on the ground with many strings
...I still miss han bro where is she come back bad han
Oh not that I'll show if i get time
It's like an instrument which angels play
i think i know which one u talking about , the one that looks exactyly like western harp
Not this one
Yeah
It can be worn too
this is just vertical version
I have it on my back
This yes
Konghou
this is rarely used in orchestral setting
Kong King Kong
this is the name
Looks cool on back tho
yea
I was in the Heaven's Well sect and I can't equip the Hengdao, what do I do?

Curious, ||why are still some flowing glows in Liangzhou even after the fall of the region? Because most got replaced with flowing ink, so why not the ones in Summereve Garden, Homesight Tower, and Reveler's Terrace?||
Also, idk if this is obvious but, does that mean that ||the fallen Liangzhou is the present one? Like current timeline outside of Hexi||

Okay final question i swear...
But
||Who is the boss in the campaign quest? Is it the assassin and the guy with the paint brush looking thing or what.||
Yep, Korean borrow a lot of Chinese geographical concept
The PTSD is kicking in
YM still having nightmares about the blissful retreat fire
If you have any tips for the deer gimmick in the new map, please let me know. - Gangster
Young Master found someone with the same hatred. Too bad, she's probably already history.
Devs: we made a winemaker NPC with the same tragic background story but you'll never see her again. Soulmate who? Little Zhao is the best we can do.
FAHHH burning blissful retreat...
Parry and dodge
According to the lore I get gacha outfit today! š
hey is this part of story
looks good ngl
Good luck on it it's always hard pity for me lmao so best of luck to you
Thank you Lord Bones 420. š
imagine if they had the balls to go the historical route instead of this fantasy.. sogdians and fire temples are intriguing
Is the lianzhou village destroy after completing the campaign death of the governor?
like ur pfp
Thanks

Yes
š¢
Any ways to go back?
Yes
Yes
Or you can come here
Drinking the blood wine gives the Liangzhou in Ruins
Drinking the moonshine gives the original Liangzhou
This is a dream
So you can restore it with no problem
Blissful retreat is physically in ruins
š
This will unlock after lianzhou fallen?
Yes
Unlock by encounter?
When do I know Iām close to the end of this endless talking quest
Z
Which quest?
Have to defeated the death of the governor
what is this , 1 hour talking im lost i have no idea what is going on ***
i have
its a really really unengaging questline
i was hyped about new weapons instead i whole day watching and playing as random npcs about something i have no idea what is going on
just a fair warning, this one alters your world state. i just completed not long ago and trying to get back to previous state
which, would have been great to know about that before doing it
alters how, melts snow?
not melted snow. think blissful retreat
its different after the campaign portion of it is completed
im 1 hour deep in that story quest, its to late now to stop Xd
but more importantly, it'd probably be good to do this questline with a guide. i missed a gang of collectibles and it seems the only way to get them is to re-do the quest
and right now, i'd rather just quit the game than to re-engage with it
lol what colectible? im sleeping here and presing W and space
damn
i read somwhere that devs were worried about hexi update to global, now i see why, if they dont implement SKIP ALL BUTTON, this will drag alot people away, its terible
sentient being collectibles, if you care about that stuff.
i'm interested in 100% hexi completion title so this is a not insignificant set back for me
hey anyone know how to revert to old liangzhou, this new liangzhou is so screwed up , everything in pieces?
there's supposed to be a clock icon on your solo world map
i haven't had any such luck getting it reverted either since the icon isn't there for me
looks like one has to complete "A Bitter Draught of Home" go to Drunken Terrace to drink "Moonlit Wine" then should be able to return to Old Liangzhou
I just finished the Whitecrown fortress campaign. I'm just curious on what happened prior the 1.5 update when you approach the gate going to Liangzhou. Because now there is the monk and the guard when I finished the campaign.
from what i recall, bascially nothing. it would tell you to proceed to Liangzhou but it wasn't possible
i read singpost at end of that terible campaign, says if u want restore Liangzhou back, drink Aynur wine
It's a campaign in Hexi
Ohhh, so there's like a sandstorm too that will teleport you back? I'm just wondering if people who already did the quest prior to 1.5 saw the monk and the guard cutscene. Thanks
I forgot how lengthy the main questline in hexi was lol Death of the governor was not even close
Even young master is not safe from ||Doomed|| (Potential) Romance
Her VA did a good job with her portrayal ngl, I felt the hatred
agreed it has a seething tone
š«Ŗ
monk is from sidequest i think wandering tale
there was no monk for me since i already finish that particular quest
Thanks. I was just wondering since I have no time to play Jade Gate Pass for the previous month. The gate was so open so I wondered what happened when you go through it after the campaign.
u couldnt there would be sandstorm to teleport u back
why do they change the storyline from aunt han to ballsack? is there a reason for it?
The short answer is they were trying to catch the cultural trend in China a couple of years ago to tell a story about Tang Dynasty.
However, due to the lagging on development, they couldnāt roll out the update on time.
A couple years ago the Chinese pop culture had a āTang feverā.
so im assuming since they already commit to it we wont be getting the continuation on aunt han story for a while?
Yep, for about a year.
oh hell no
Aunt Han wonāt appear again until the most recent chapter in CN server, which is about a year from the current progress of the Global Server
so we will be getting more walking simulator main quests?
yo, im not huge in lore stuff, but the moon maiden looks so cool and ive tried to figure out why she looks like that. From what I can gather she was a princess? of the pond? :o does anyone know
I like how the fact that only qianye and lord Shi are the only one who are not resting unlike the rest of the boss. They really there for the grind lol
im pretty sure thats bc they are our actual enemy
when you try to kneel it'll say only kneel to those who deserve it or something
W
their hearts are corrupted to the core. not even Void King is that bad, he has his rest days
She embodies the archetype of the heqinļ¼åäŗ²ļ¼princessesāroyal women sent throughout Chinese history to marry into northern nomadic tribes in the hope of securing peace through diplomatic alliance.
In reality, most of these princesses did not end well. The game softens the tragic nature of the heqin tradition through a more poetic and romanticized portrayalābut if you pay attention, youāll notice that during the boss fight, she is actually crying the entire time.
The tradition of heqin (marriage alliances) in China lasted for over a thousand years. It began in the Han Dynasty, exemplified by Wang Zhaojun (c. 54ā19 BCE), who was sent to marry the Xiongnu. Later, during the Sui Dynasty, Princess Anyi (early 7th century) was married off to the Turks. In the Tang Dynasty, Princess Wencheng (married in 641 CE) was sent to Tibet.
In essence, heqin was a reluctant diplomatic strategy adopted by ruling governments when they were unable to fully defeat their rivals militarilyāan act of concession framed as appeasement.
Thank you for the in-depth reply! Super interesting!!!
Then in the new harmony finishing animation, āMoonlit Pavilionā, it is essentially implied that the princess commits suicideādrowning herself. In her final moments beneath the water, she glimpses the pavilions and towers of her homeland, as if seeing it one last time before death
Wow, thank you so much for the information! I was actually so curious about her; what a tragic story š
I cant be the only one who thinks hexi msq has been terrible so far. They shouldve just made a movie. Especially the slow walking and not being able to jump over ledges
Lmao the slow walking is making me mad
Is entire hexi all about stories?
Also why everyone is so obsessed with Tang?
Best golden age the one everyone talks shout
Radical Japanese right wing even say stuff like Tang was so peak that Post Tang China aināt even China anymore. Not that i agree with it but it was just that good of a reputation
The obsession with Tang is the same as the Western obsession of Roman Empire
Which is funny because as far as the Shimmer goes Southern Tang is about as Tang as the HRE is Holy or Roman or an Empire
Yes Hexi is a collection of basically short stories
So all the Chinatown around the world actually call themself street of Tang people(åäŗŗč”ļ¼.
Thatās almost 1300 years later.
probably that particular figure is not blessed / enlightened yet
Honestly I hate every single aspect of Hexi in its gameplay design.
And the storyline is also pretty bizarre because we are in Song Dynasty, and this chapter is like a fork in the middle of the road.
Think about a game of French Revolution have a entire chapter about Imperium Galliarum.
It just not work.
āI know weāre in s real bad time but let me tell you about the time that was just a bit worseā
It was great then it was really bad way worse than it is now. I know now is bad but way better than the times that was worse xD
If i had to say this is like a story like Kingdom Come Deliverance but then you had a DLC that a monk talks to you about the fall of Rome and suddenly youāre playing a Roman character
Be graceful, they didnāt make you to be a citizen of Pompeii.
xD
QTE for dodging falling volcanic rocks
If i remember correctly Hexi as a whole didnāt really hit it off in China either
Except Lianzhouqu which really got some traction later on
It feels like the development donāt have the gut to make an entire city of Chang An
But thatās mostly because it made the village Chinese people that were working in cities think of home and the Chinese abroad think of motherland
It took them this long just to make the Song Palace
Kaifeng is small potato compared to Chang An in both scale, size and details.
Yes exactly
I am feeling like if we actually experienced the busy streets of city of Chang An and watching it burn in fire in the end of chapter. It would be so freaking epic and much much much stronger in emotional impact.
How did tang fall again in here? The last emperor gramps is still alive smhw what's he doing atm? š„¹
I mean what's his goal? Dude looks like the final boss
He also founded aureate pavilion idk if i got that right
Well we gave military power to the Turks thatās why
Child emperor, powerful warlord, corrupt government
We made a Turk a general and would you have guessed he backstabbed us
He want to use his magical blue bug trick to restore Tang dynasty but as a zombie empire.
He is not only might be the final boss, but also might be MCās biological father.
I think someone told earlier its disproved in cn server
Not exactly
Because the Chinese server donāt have the definite evidence of that.
no spoiler please
Sure
Was li zuo the child emperor?
Yes
Yes
He became emperor at 12
I thought Melonās father is General Wang
I see why he wants to restore tang but why as zombie empire š
The turk general?
Because then the Tang will never fall again
Cause zombie have no thoughtļ¼which means no conflict.
Glory of Tang is eternal
Lmao whenever yall say melon it kinda throws me off in good way
Roast Winter Melon very tasty
No Turk General is Anlushan the great betrayer
Evil
And the other great betrayer that sold the Yanyun 16 to the Khitans
Shijingtang
Chineselized Turks as well
Wait general wang uncle jiang's adoptive dad?
āSinofiedā / āSinoficationā
Actually where Sina/Singa in Singapore comes from and at one point China was spelled Sina before unified spelling was a thing
Understandable
Because Sina(ęÆé£ļ¼were used to referring to some bad words against Chinese
I rather use Seres
That the same wang?
Who was getting puppeted and so on and died
Ahhh i get it now, i wasnt aware of that part
I'm more and more lost in the lore.
No worries, things will only get more complicated from now.
Even us Chinese people have to go to lore tubers and watch a video after doing the quests
We are creating jobs and helping the economy xD
unlikely given the writing teamās style of writing and the overall themes that have been common throughout the entire game
you can say its possible until confirmed but if this was the case it would also undermine many of those established morals
I think itās too common of a trope and wouldnāt add any value in this case
Wow, fine men only raise fine men
Hahahaha that remind me of that meme
||melon: u killed my father
Li zuo: no, I am ur father
: what
Li: I mean, I'm pregnant and ur the father
: whaaat
Li: I mean...! YOU'RE PREGNANT AND I'M THE BABY||
I couldn't send the link tho š)

I'll take the cold any day
Give me the Dune feeling but there is no spice.
the cold is my fav map so far
True it feels like Disney ahh setting
I want to try the new map so hard aaaaa
man. i absolutely love some of the more "spooky" or mega sad quests like bodhi sea and where a thousand buddhas wept.
That zhuxie boss and his lil bird was annoying af. The kid npcs in this game always cause me troube
kid npcs are lowkey op
i already got this item but how come i still cant fly in the new region
because u are technically in the painting, i rmb someone said this here
oh this new region is painting?
yea
oh i see
hexi is like a dream
yeah if u can fly here it will be way too easy
thats why u can go past and present
i think the next region outfit is better
oh what is it look like
but thats for female avvatar lol
show me
i think its called mohist hill
this outfit?
It allows Wallstride, not lightness skills (so, quick running, wall running and water running, not flying)
It's literally first thing in Hexi quest, you go in because a Mysterious lady asked MC to restore the painting
This is Mohist Hill sect uniform
do u have the male version?
Preview material + someone's boy
I bite the graphing paper texture on the clothes, bc yeah, that's engineering-architecture nerds aesthetics
yeah it is very engineer like
i am looking forward to get one of these set.....just one is enough
What happened to the paper moon girls? Did the red one die?
The rat king dao lord
Helo

The new Jianghu Legacy quests aren't as good as they used to be
need more cooop

isn't the 2nd one the 28k outfit
Ayo it's him
I'm not sure but that is why i said 1 of these 4..... which ever is cheaper lol

whats the explanation why the towns are in these giant cups in liangzhou?
Makes u travel faster
Drink it. Itās like a magical subway station
Also hottake incoming: ||ngl hexi msq kinda feels like a walking sim||
Which one u like the most

i want to get into the lore and story more, but in its current form, its really hard for me to follow because new characters come and go so quickly, talk to me like we've known each other for years and like i know what the hell is happening, and nobody ever bothers to explain any major plot devices or crucial story arc details in plain language.. so i perpetually have zero clue what is going on around me as far as story goes.
"Hey, do you know where the nearest ore merchant is located, sir?"
"Brother, simply listen to the laughter on the wind and when the moon is full, you'll know what needs to be done."
"Uhh.. what?"
Welcome to wuxia
I'm doing all choices to get the achievement in this Campaign quest ||aka the one where they reveal the death of Zhang Huaishen||
maybe you have to grow up knowing all of this mythological/historical Wuxia stuff to have any clue whats going on because nobody ever tells you in the game lol
love this game, but yeah.. wish i had even a small understanding of what my character is even doing anymore, quest/story-wise
look up youtube videos
there's plenty of content creators who make great videos that explain the background context/analyzes the quest/story to explain to people who are confused
recommend wwmgirl and williamsweeb
He/She gets kidnapped/poisoned/drugged every quest cuz s/he's a valuable asset to everyone
Jk lol
is this critical to the lore?
Wait what quest is this?
the governor one, after the assassin part
Yes
I did this yesterday, i was so serious about the quest until that came up and i cracked
FART
ngl ive been skipping through it, its genuinely so boring until midway of 2nd chapter
Some things are kinda lost on me, can someone give me a brief telling about Liangzhou's background/history? General Zhou?
Devs r really smth
is Zhang Huaiyue (the woman wearing red and black that shows up in 2nd chapter) the same as the witch qianye?
from my understanding, this whole bit is in the past so it would make sense if its her (in terms of the timeline)
does anyone know if all the achievements are obtainable? some are at 0% and as an achievement hunter i like to complete the game again
If you really want all achievements do the achievement shown in game no on Steam
some are at 0% and i was just wondering if they were obtainable at the moment
Found an NPC named Bu Zhidao a while ago (I think somewhere in Kaifeng) and from what little Mandarin Chinese I still remember, it made me giggle
Some no but that doesnāt matter
You have to spend at least weeks to get every achievement in the game tab
Steam is just picking a few easy randoms
i regret doing the governor campaign ngl, i liked the town but now its all rubble
Devs really made NPC names a wordplay and it doesn't translate well to english. Kind of a shame..
Things like Bu Zhidao(I don't know), Xia Bulai(Can't get down) or even Shang Buqu(Can't go up) makes the game all the more funnier if you know what words it sounds like
i can currently obtain all the achievements on steam in this current version?
update patch 7GB..i have 112GB free space. but it said no enought disk space ? wtf
so I just got to Liangzhou at the markets. skybrim markets? who are these mutuns the soldiers are talking about?
farting is like the funniest thing someone can do as long as it stinks out a whole campsite
can i ask one guys why this game is alway update with 80GB all the time?
Daily comment
What's the order to play wwm story?
what's up?
i just finish Kaifeng and start chapter 3 but i just progress from Qinghe
Also said sth about Uncle Jiang like he's alive
Kinda lost rn
So Guanyin in-game is deliberately named in honor of the Goddess of Mercy?
I ask to double-check since the verbal name doesn't always correspond to the written name.
nice
I have to say, the main stories of Liangzhou were pretty meh for me, but damn, those side stories with Zhang Yichao etc. were incredibly good
I feel like these should have been the main stories, and Melody and Paper Moon should have been side stories
I'm a bit behind on story quest but did the River Lord quest yesterday and bawled my eyes out
The one in Keifang? I remember liking it too, yeah
Is An Liuli supposed to be a girl? (doing paper moon story) I thought they were a girl in the trailer but all I'm seeing so far is a dude...
Continue with the story
It's going to be explained
Just remember, ZGY and JZY are the same guy with two different personalities
With Hexi it almost feels like the Main Story is a vehicle/excuse to bring you/MC to the location while the quests around the location are the "main meal" and where the devs poured all their love
I know no spoilers at all but from what I heard by CN players, it will all tie back in the future
I'm not sure, I REALLY liked Burlap Sack storyline, it's just that Liangzhou main stories are following extremely established tropes, while the side missions go more into history and the more interesting parts
I won't call it two personalitiesš¤ just a guy who puts on his serious face when he's at work, and gets silly when he's off [but due to being the prince of Kaifeng he needs different name to get off work without it bevoming a public spectacle]
Yea
When I said personality, I say ZGY puts on a prideful face at work and only shows off his actual side when he's JZY
Yeah, but many people have "work face", it's not exactly something worthy being called "two personalities"
Is the character Aynur like foreigner or something
Her and her family name sounds different from chinese
Also I want her clothes she so gorgeous
Hi. I just finished mainstory in Liangzhou. Does the young man actually the grandson of the man that saved by burlap sack in 1st episode of Hexi?
I actually only play attention to lore and story when hexi update began (as i sprint qinhe and kaifeng to catch up on level and stuff) is there any replay to rewatch and reread those lore i missed? (Main story, lost chapter, encounter and such)
I think she's turkic, but that seems about right for the area
am I close to the end of these slow walking quests that makes you play as some random npc?
No
It will always be like that for Hexi
Or even when you are mc you will slowly walk
Thatās how the story is
gfdg
I don't mind the slow walk in some conditions but they really overdid it with Hexi
a strong of walk-only quests with nothing much but background dialogue
Hexi is a lot about our own character mind
it strikes me more as exposition on fiction writing with Chinese history as influence but just random new characters
Out of curiosity - does anyone have a clear answer on how much time passes in real time Qinghe/Kaifeng when young master is in Hexi? like, is it 1:1, or is he still kind of just. dreaming/tripping balls
Can anyone clear up a potentially dumb question? What happens to Lian Daozi? ||Does he die up in that tower in Liangzhou or...?|| I just want to make sure before I write a fanfic lmao
A few hours tops, it's all a dream/vision through painting in the end. Yk, like the vision of Zheng manor burning, but on steroids (full location instead of single quest dungeon)
I haven't finished Lian Daozi story it makes me sleepy somehow lol. I just finished the Jianghu legacy with the big scary snek
But I think it'll be cleared up in Hexi-3/post dark-surge, when the plot is finished and YM exits the dreamworld
The snake jumpscared me a few times lol
But I didn't get what really happened in the end? Did General Zhang rebel? Was he successful in getting the governor title?
for some reason, the time frame reminds me conceptually of inception's purgatory/limbo concept (trapped there for x amount of years), i wonder if that's an apt comparison?
so like YM would remember, but it would also be kind of... crazy to think about
i suppose why i'm asking is because i am also ||writing lmao||
so like it would have been about, 8-12 hours of sleep for YM but years have passed in there (im not sure about side stories, depends on the YM playing maybe)
@torn igloo D M ME
i did
I won't call it exactly "trapped"š¤ YM entered the painting as payment for lost bet. But the mechanics itself is similar to the sleeping. If you see dreams when you sleep, you can spend years or days there, but you don't feel it being weird or scary or involuntary unless you're lucid dreaming, and in the morning you wake up anx think "damn that was a crazy ride" instead of feeling scared or freed of entrapment
i appreciate the answer! i think this works for me, but i wonder if he would remember all of it - or just the most important parts, do you think - like the main story. im sure the side stories all happened 100 years ago, but i guess im just asking for personal benefit now hehe
Oh, YM would def remember, they're weird like that
All, both main and side stories of Hexi happened hundreds of years ago, and YM is just an observer that was invited to experience it. Most obvious example is that you can find notes about Lady Gongsun and Zhang HuaiSheng in the history tab for their sects, but in Hexi they're mentioned as recent actors
i think so too! thanks for the answer š i'm glad to hear it's mostly aligning up with my thoughts
Is it implied that An Liuli died at the end of Paper Moon?
most probably, yes the two msq & death of ??? happened at the same time
I see I see, ty!!
the man saved up by burlap sack is the young man's (LianDaoZi) great grandfather (XiaoLian - Lian Er Lang), you could see his great grandfather's name in the tavern records
@iron canyon but why? It doesn't seem to have any narrative purpose other than just to have a bad ending?
She died finding home
Itās a compromise
A lot of people in Liangzhou are achieving their goal by doing compromise
It's "Better die trying than live yearning" for many characters
Who was the immortal girl?
It's just like how when LiuLi first met GuanYin, LiuLi is the one bringing guanyin freedom, the reality is set, no matter how, guanyin is just like any other women in a reputable family, they're all "sacrifices" in political marriages. We can't change the ending, because everything happened at the same time, it's a destined tragedy from the start, only by LiuLi "sacrificing" can she exchange for Guanyin's freedom
oh i see
Personally didn't like that story as much as the previous one, cuz wer kinda led to believe everything is good up until the very end and in the end shes just dead? so out of nowhere
Wasnt even any build up to the death
XinZiZai (Guanyin's friend) is picturing the women who got married off politically, they may seem to be reputable (bc of their husband's family), but in reality, they're often getting suppressed & disrespected (exp, how the child saying that words from someone with different surname [outsider] can't be held weight). Guan Yin knew her life after being married off will become like that (which was why she locked herself up copying scriptures, thinking it would help her escape her fate), her thoughts only solidified after meeting LiuLi, who was free & can do whatever she wanted. LiuLi herself is like the moonlight that LiuLi always used to reassure GuanYin & made her happy, the moment GuanYin agreed with LiuLi's plan, it means she's set and wanting to fly out of the cage (Cao family).
its supposed to mean the same as like ābsā
dont pay attention specifically to which are side stories vs main stories, theyre all very relevant its not really like other mmos where side stories are considered lower quality or less important.
oh
he decided he didnt care for the governor title and that it doesnt impact his legacy. What it was was that the snake was a metaphorical representation of his thought to rebel because the court was using the governorās title to repress him (hold him in changan). In the beginning of the quest, he was worried about the legacy he would leave behind in history, and so briefly considered rebelling against the court
ok what the hell. that sad story of the Cao girl. how is it tied to our MC?
is the MC just reading scriptures and texts and tripping all this time in their head?
The 3 names (GuanYin, LiuLi, XinZiZai) have deep connections. Starting from GuanYin, in Buddism GuanYin is also called "GuanShiYin" & "GuanZiZai Bodhisattava", which has no fixed gender and 33 manifestations. GuanYin is a symbol of compassion and wisdom, where they save all beings and guide people to break through their inner obstacles to achieve freedom. In game, GuanYin's mindset was free, yet physically she was confined in the cage of her family.
LiuLi is one of the seven treasures of Buddism, and is the one that symbolizes wisdom and compassion of Dharma, representing a state of purity as clear as LiuLi, and a personality resilience and wisdom. LiuLiGuanYin (yep, exactly the same characters as the two girls), is also one of the manifestations of the GuanYin Bodhisattva, embodying the wish for spiritual purification and transcending suffering.
XinZiZai (a state of free mind) representing people transcending spiritual shackles, returning to their pure nature while facing up and downs of life with a clear & tolerant attitude, achieving true freedom and tranquility between altruism & self-interest/selfishness.
Combining everything we can conclude that the three names & characters were pursuing spiritual freedom. Which is something that all women are looking forward to, but no matter how high their dreams were, they were always shackled, by injustice, by inequality & those traditions of ancient families. There are countless women out there, facing the same fate as GuanYin, but GuanYin was lucky to have LiuLi who truly broke GuanYin free from her invisible shackles.
Hello game administrators and moderators. I received a message from an account named Where Wind Meet. I mistakenly thought it was spam and deleted it because I didn't check carefully. The message contained a short code and instructions on how to enter it. I accidentally deleted it. Could you please send it back to me?
you know what...fair.
that's the first hexi quest I actually got interested in
Did the 2 girls die?
You can pick up a book about them at the pavillion around the cao mansion where they met
So even NPC's and bosses goes into strike :/

Its a government given rest day

O I can finally propose to Murong Yuan with goosy slide
Ohh thanks! Then was the kid representing his inner child or smth
Or I think it's more like his childhood dream
The kid represented his dream
yeah, like his dream removed from all the nuance of the world
Yeah! So in the end he threw away his childish dream and ambition for governor title because he realized he didn't need those anymore. He realized he'd already made his mark in history.
I liked this quest more than the main quest haha. Especially the parts where the snake was hunting you and also the cutscenes where it was snaking around the characters. I thought it was a cool visualization of his ambition almost taking over the general.
I was really confused too why the shop npc refused to sell anything lmao
Had to do the knee slide so I could buy stuff from Feng Cheng
So the magic girl died and the other one became free right?
Damn
Why they gotta write these sad stories
Chapter 1 of this game was already sadš
Can some tell me how the hexi storyline connects to our character?
That chapter made me cry ngl. Chapter 2 made me tear up too, especially after searching up the en translation for the song little Fu sings š„²
It's more like a side story I think? The MC is dreaming it
Yeah I'm hoping for some slightly less sad stories lol
ran out of tears
The last scene of the moonlight wine quest was so epic
This is what we need from this game š©ø
Does it have anything to do with qianye, aunt han or so on?
Not really ?
Young Master never faced the reality of losing their family, their home, they never tried to go on, we only ran away hoping to find people on the road
Hexi is some type of introspection through the dreams for our MC
Since we didnāt tried to learn in the past, we are now learning through the perspective of others
Young Master trauma will persist as long as they donāt understand that to find home, you need to do compromise
I'm not sure yet since the full storyline is not completely available to global yet. But the mysterious girl npc we talked to hinted that it could give some clue to what mc is looking for. So maybe?
Ohh makes sense.
The main objective is still the same
Finding Aunt Han, and the other that could survive the disaster
But young master needs to understand why someone should do this, find home, and what it represents
If I remember correctly Qinchuan should make all of this a bit more obvious
But there are already some hints in Hexi
For exemple when you play the first part in the desert, the oasis you see is bamboo grove, where Uncle Jiang was
Anyone can drop spoilers about mohist hill story?
theres a lot of bilibili videos that go over mohist hill story, and bilibili has translated subs
||basically Kaifeng needs ressource from there, send you, you help the place, Qianye as always add her shi to the lot||
I guess playing new region is not useful since after new lvl cap 95 we need lot of talent points so leaving it temp is worth it
you could just play it and not use the talent points until after
After reaching max talent (this season)points it won't count
It will stop and don't count
I donāt know if itās not just visually
People will complain anyway and they will have to do something at some point
It's a tips and tricks for some guys
If u play this game from the beginning u can feel that
||im curious when that Assassin on Governor jianghu legacy mentioned her name
that assassin is actually her brother ? ||
the true lore is that everyone is crack able except Ruby ofc
Will my account be suspended even if I use Reshade?
Did anyone do the quest with the huge snake statue? Is it worth is story/reward wise?
Hey what's up guyz
First time hearing explain bro
you mean Sekiro alike white snake ?
you get as much out of story as you put into it, if you pay attention and do your research, its a very good story
You get a knowledge piece at the end (yichao III)
Am doing the kid shocked me with his declaration at first lol
You see a kid stealing a lamp and get into a hidden Passage basically
Itās literally a gigantic statue that comes alive after a while, is it the same as what you thought?
its alive since beginning
You don't have to kill it ...i finished it today
So the story jump 3 generation from hexi part 1 to hexi part 2? Wow.. its like wellspring quest (i bawling my eyes out doing that story ššš)
It killed me
Multiple times
When is the grassland map coming out?
I didnāt even do 1 and 2
Went straight for 3 accidentally
Uh oh.. im global player.. we havent got part 3 yet.. part 2 just release 3 days ago
Ann so why does the painting reward says it is the third one?
yeah, well theres another slight timeskip from zhang yichao (snake) to zhang huaishen (death of governor)
Im not sure which painting you refer to š im also a beginner barely start 1 month ago sorry
Just did the Aynur quest and the governor one, was Aynur the assassin?
Oh I see and why does the kid ||turn into a sword|| ?
heās called āYoung Yichaoā, next to Granny Pan before you finish that wandering tale
Ahhhh true!
I havent start the other story after finishing the man playing his pipa while the city on fire, but i already battle moon maiden, i wonder is there any story about her consider how unique the way to battle her. (AND SUPER SUPER LOVE THE OST OF PHASE 2!! awesome work for the team involved)
The kid is yichao, its an internal symbolism of his hopes and aspirations in a pure form
Right! I remember that part! Thank you so much!
Wait, that's the same guy??? Time changes people, huh
Thatās amazing and the cinematic storytelling

There is lore in antiques, books and Wandering Tales around her locations
yup, shes a princess from Tang, but shes also represents in the game a lot of princesses during that era
Also, don't forget to read her compendium and journal entries! Basically same deal as Wolf Maiden, interested player will find out
Didnāt she married someone for something I canāt remember
I think that's why they left her without a name other than Moongazing Maiden. She isn't a in-world character, but a combination of stories from the world that manifested into single person in the dreamworld
I remember she is also part of the compromise thematic of Liangzhou
She was sent to Liangzhou for political marriage
Oh yeah so it was the basic stuff
based on the lore too she had an agreement with zhang yichao
but i forget the gist of it, i read it in chinese
It's basic, but it's also important historic reference as a guy smarter than me discussed earlier #šlore-chat message
I love the fact that we as player cant actually āhitā her. My sister said it might be gamedev try to tell us not to hit on women no matter how angry they are š
Yeah donāt go into chapter 4 my guy
You can hit like 7 other female bosses. You can't hit her, because she isn't actually there, she's at the bottom of the lake
I tot first the moon and girl looks a lot like chang er chinese lore
I vaguely remembered about that
Itās just that I forgot if she was connected deeper with the rest of the stories in Hexi
Not sure about the deer connections, I barely touched it yet
Yeah and also the music background sound epic and a bit melancholic for a battle
I feel like Changāe is more related to the moon paper
Oh i havent start moon paper, but i can handle spoilers :))
she is iirc
but i dont remember how, its prob in the journals and lore stuff
But imo the end is really referring to that idea of leaving someone behind going to the moon for X reason
At least the depiction is here
The moon here is pointer to Chang'an ("homeland" for some characters, a sort of "promised land" for others)
So trueee!! To bad i just exposed to lore and story when entering hexi (i buldozed my way from qinghe to kaifeng to catch up on leveling so skipp almost all story and lore there - barely know who uncle jiang and aunt han, only a bit about ruby)
Missing on that one paper hidden in the hardest dungeon giving the biggest pic of information about the character you need to know something about
I know the moon is home
So it's not about going to the moon in western meaning, but a homeward path
But ||lovers being separated with one being stuck one the moon, basically died, really refers to the myth of Changāe imo||
The meaning isnāt the same for the story since Liangzhou and Hexi are based on the young master trying to find what is or where is home
But the way they showed it in this story in Liangzhou is visually similar
I hope the moderator will pinned this š„¹
Heloo
Guys why my game running on dx12 and setting dlss on after restart the game dlss option is missing why ?
Uhm.. this is lore channel.. i think you can ask that on #š±beginner-questions ?
Is the 2nd new main story quest more like pov immersive mode and no combat/boss? Did the 1st one in the new area and am about to start the 2nd
Yes, and the story is amazing āŗļø
Okay great! The Hexi stories have been so good, I just have limited time today and would rather go through the whole thing in one go. I'll save it for later. Thanks!
has anyone started the new story line? how is it? i've been pushing it off because i don't want to wait so long till the next update but ughh
It's definitely worth it! Especially the lost chapters and the side quests for Liangzhou. Provides so much lore for Liangzhou and what Hexi's going through. I usually complete all the quests as soon as it comes out, to get the lore faster and so it wont just stack up on me later on.
Hello everyone, I was scammed this week by someone I gave an outfit to. Now I've lost my Echo Bead. Would anyone be willing to give me an outfit? š plz tell me if this is not allowd to ask

That snake had me screaming. I knew about it from a video but when I personally experienced it. My heart skipped some beats
I thought it was a statue at first then when I progress the quest it woke up š
Same. It jumpscared me everytime lmao. Those segments were pretty fun tho. š¤£
It was my favorite part of the quest lol
The quests are very long and you must be patient. Make sure to have lots of time available to play
guys what is the best way to see the whole story? i kinda got lost in the timeskips and even more with the names, not used to it
have to said something to level up for looking for group
still got to said something and im saying something
lore videos on youtube is your best bet
Hi, I'm looking for a player, preferably 20+
#looking-for-group or #looking-for-pvp can help more
Sus
Can ruby come back as a playable character in WWM2
If you customize your character to look like her then you can.. if not then no
Lol
Sheās not dead. Aunt Han took her with her when she fled the battle š
Sure sure... If that feeds your fantasy

The storyline is trash
Just completed the whole thing
Boss fight is either really freaking disgusting or really boring.
lol.
honk
aynur's brother was the assassin, but he passed after the ordeal

It does have similarities, but the moon here for the two girls are not only about home. LiuLi brought GuanYin freedom through the paper moon, and the charm "Let the moonlight shine upon the beholder." was originally used by taoist practitioners to ask for moonlight, but in the two girls' case, LiuLi wasn't asking for moonlight nor the Bodhisattava. From how LiuLi told GuanYin to think about her whenever she chant the charm, LiuLi herself became the one who bestow moonlight (can have multiple meanings here, freedom, hope, etc), and the one who truly practiced the core teachings of Buddism in her own way. The story about SanNiang and her husband was the total opposite of LiuLi to contrast her doings as well.
It's more like a way of her acheiveing "freedom", moongazing maiden was envious of Aynur, and would try to copy her dance moves, she saw her past self in Aynur (where she grew up with love). She wanted to do something for the folks (exp, encouraging them to write poems), despite missing her home (Chang'An), that's why she made the tower, hoping she could taste wine from her hometown again. As a princess, she shouldn't have "selfishness", and should sacrifive whatever she has for the nation, yet even she couldn't escape the fate of women (a political tool), nor find a way of living like GuanYin. The hairpin she discarded was a signal that she isn't going to submit to fate (by discarding her identity as a princess for political marriage). She made a bet with YiChao, seeing who could reclaim LiangZhou first, and was constantly collecting information even though she was imprisoned. Everything she did was to contribute to the nation, yet records about them were so less, some even burried. In the end, after YM beat her, she finally succeeded in her transformation, truly becoming free from those invisible shackles (her identity & inequality), along with all the women who was a sacrifice of political marriage.
i think they are the same person
Just finish liangzou melody, is the girl real or his hallucinations?
, everything happen in the inn just a dream?
Why the girl keep calling herself immortal?
Why its matter if ppl was from changan or not?
Lian douzi and girl story end in this chapter?
I was really surprised by this one's voice because I dodged most of the CN spoilers lol
I don't get the people saying the storyline is trash. I started a couple days ago and was never bored or felt like skipping
they're not reading obviously
typical
Definitely because I also play a lot of the other big gacha games and WWM's presentation is better compared to some
The game really just hit us with a "||the real treasure is the friends we made along the way||" ahh quest
it is completely different, they innovated with a new formula for MMO games (not gacha games, that's different)
most mmo stories like black desert got boring storyline
The game play design is a total mess
The chapter of Hexi is pretty much torture to me except watching all the CG.
I haven't reached that part, yet, but I've seen some people complaining about it online and others favoring it. If anything, I just know the presentation is still going to be far better than some others games like Honkai Star Rail's Amphoreus arc. Their characters would just be standing still for minutes doing the same poses over and over and the camera angle is stagnant while they are yapping way too much
I donāt even play that game
This is the first ongoing operating game I have played in the past five years that is not a FPS.
So I do have pretty high standard on this game because I have spent over 1000 dollars on in game skins and other stuff.
But the production of Hexi is just no way match with Kaifeng and Qinghe
And the PVP maintenance on PS5 is really freaking bad.
I may have to spend another 1000 dollar on a good gaming PC to just make the PVP experience better.

I am only 30 miles away from their North American Server, so internet is not the problem.
If the quality of the single player game play is sliding and the PVP is not a decent option, my times on this game gonna be tough.
I apologize If this sounds negative.
But as a history major enjoying digging in details the chapters of Hexi lack of the depth of Kaifeng and was trying to tell a story that is way too big than the content in this chapter can support and left a lot of wishiwashi characters and in game terms due to concern of censorship.
first pic xiao lian is lian er lang, the great grandfather of lian daozi (second pic)
What if ||Ayuri|| was the friends we met along the way
Well it is nice
||I wonder will we get to the part found Aunt and Uncle Jiang after Hexi||

||The mysterious girl did said complete Hexi will give us what we need||
Hexi is like history class but more fun
So Hexi is just the Young Master's stages of grief?
Yeah
in terms of how it relates directly to YM yes
but its also more than that too
I'm sure they will try to improve on their story presentation after many criticism. Wuthering Waves is one example where they were heavily criticized in the beginning because of how bad and boring the story was. So Kuro Games (devs of Wuthering Waves) decided to put in 100% effort into the story and now I will argue that it's the best out of every gacha game currently based on their past few patches until now. I feel like the same can happen for Where Winds Meet. If a lot of people are criticizing the story presentation, then the devs no doubt will try to save their game by improving more on the story.
Hexi feels like we are there to bear witness and remember the people and stories that were forgotten in a chaotic era. But idk still need to see Qinchuan act 3
I also thought about that!
WuWa story quest feels like you're watching a movie sometimes Devs really did put in the work I agree. even if it's not at same level. hoping wwm story telling visuals will improve
Lian daozi's grandfather is the kid burlap sack saved?
YM became the one who could witness everything, and bear their stories to pass it down to the next generations, much like folklore, ym is the physical representation of it
On the near ending part of Paper Moon
||When LiuLi was in the carriage, the people outside were talking about the An family flatbread, but was said that ChangAn was already gone. Did that mean that LiuLi herself didn't know that? Or it's just another layering thing in terms of timeline||
Not at the time.
Chang An was gone after the third phase, which is after the next chapter Qinchuan
We are currently in second phase
Chang An were burned at 904 AD
Chapter of Liangzhou is at 890 AD for the latest
Woow
Ahhh okok, still kinda messed up if say GuanYin was the one hearing those talk tho
So the entire chapter of Hexi stretch from 742 AD to 907 AD.
Jade Gate Pass is between 742 AD to 808 AD
Liangzhou is between 851 AD to 890 AD
Qinchuan is between 901 AD to 907AD
with their decision to bugger off together
So thatās why I said the content canāt support their ambitions.
like a plothole sort? I had the impression that ||LiuLi is again lying but this round about her homeland, which I thought was a better reason for her self-guilt with GuanYin getting blinded by her family. If the homeland no longer exists where the hell the 2 ladies are gonna head to||
So you know the governor Zhang Huaishen was the final quest of Liangzhou.
Zhang Huaishen died at 890 AD
Itās 14 years before the fire in Chang An
||"If the homeland no longer exists where the hell the 2 ladies are gonna head to"||
in the end
||they are each other home, for them it isn't a place but someone||
I know the timeline is really messy in Hexi
But I believe my general timeline is correct
I feel like it's because you are free to do X quests
except some ref to other characters it's hard to do a proper timeline yeah
Each chapter have very clear historical marks, so I can be sure on each timeframe
The first time mark is the death of General Guo Xin in Jade Gate Pass which happened at 808 AD, then Governor Zhang Huaishen died at 890 AD in Liangzhou, and the Chang An were burnt at 904 AD at last.
The reason why I made the time mark of Jade Gate Pass much earlier is because some of ethical group appear in history in a very broad historical range.
So we canāt be sure when Burlapās story actually took place.
With Kaifeng it might be that they went for a more general "hero's journey" type story because they knew they're coming back for Imperial palace chapterš¤ haven't seen much from there, but I do hope that they make good use of having the founder of dynasty as one of the characters on their roster

Allu who are these mutuns supposed to represent?

Real-world lamp was probably regularly refilled or even replaced if broken, but Hexi is a dreamworld, so it is more of a symbol than actual logically sound lamp
@scenic obsidian how/where from do you know everything? Atp youāre basically carrying the chat lol respect!
I was double majored in both sociology and Chinese history in college.
My thesis focused on peasant uprisings in ancient China.
Plus I do watch some analytical videos on Bilibili
Everything is my own opinion, feel free to have completely different interpretations
Thatās amazing! So glad to have you here in chat
How did guanyin lose her eyes
Damn you are really get the worth of your degree here
True! It counts here
Jade gate pass should be after though because when we reach fortress the general is already dead. We are there to fight his spirit and set him free
I still like the fact we get to meet the guy who help open the gate
although we could probably also make a reasonable guess using Xiaolianās age (20) at the time of Jade Gate Pass/Burlap Sack quest and Lian Daozi (his grandson)
hi
another good youtube resource/content creator that explains is this channel: youtube. com/channel/UClLkfmUFgRtERP66xkcVLnw?si=30t9Kqkatmoa7YLs
that being said, i think WWM girl has a really good analysis on the story and its relevance and connections, as well as meanings.
i'm stuck in a main quest where i have to chase An Liulu but i can't progress further it's with the lotus flower
how do i play the game for orbs bro
Make the 2 half fit
You have to know balls
You should use #š±beginner-questions or #š¬martial-pavilion for questions like this
bruh everyone
@scenic obsidian so do you know where they get their burning oil?
from animal?
Didnt general zhang already dead, why other npc talk like he still alive
at what point?
if you mean overworld npcs, no -- not until after the campaign where youre in the other liangzhou map
General zhang dead when we finish first chap of liangzou with lin daozi, but after that other npc talking like zhang still alive, they even say about young general zhang
They don't change the dialogs, until you complete the jianghu legacy/campaign quest that changes the state of the map
lian daozi is happening in parallel with the campaign
what you see at the end of liangzhou melody happens at the same time as death of the governor campaign
Okay thanks
but in overworld, the map is before that event happens
How about blade awaits encounter?
you have to finish the death of the governor campaign and unlock the other state of the map to see liangzhou after these events
on this too, paper moon also happens at the same time
which one is blade awaits, zhang yichao?
zhang yichao's quest occurs prior to all this
Side quest with veteran, and raging tide member, when u take blade on the ground
idt i did that one
This quest is technically before/during the Liangzhou story
How many zhang on this map, wtf
Why at the end we put the blade back to the ground?
"Zhang put it in, we should leave and let it be until Zhang, the owner of the sword, comes to pick it up"
As I said, this quest is technically before his death, so they ultimately decide to let it be as Zhang intended
What in the world he left the sword there at first place
As I understand, he left it so he can return it to his older relative who previously owned the sword ā a hope that they'll return from being hostages in Chang'an to take up the blade again
zhang is one of the most common last names in china
who i forgot
oh Liangzhou place i am not there yet
hmmmm
sry mate
Hello to all lore fanatics yay
Hello
afternoon
Hello to you too

this death of a governor quest is just 2 hours of yapping?
Lot of lore yeah
where can i find wucan boss? i have done the second campaign in hexi "death of the governor"
It should have been at the end iirc
Pretty sure Wucan was in the same quest as the eunuch
walking stimulator and yapping
How do I get there?
wucan is the boss fight with 2 different health bars? in campaign challenge is he named after "The Five Banes"?
True, there's a lot of lore but it's super in-depth and I'm so impressed
Yeah
May i ask where you find out that the assassin is aynurā brother? (Just finished quest about aynur and her painfully-yet-awesome revenge toward murder of her family)
That quest so good I just finish it earlier
Really showed how the mc never forgot his hatred too. All this time all this wandering, and still bearing vengeance in his heart
I was kinda confuse as to why there are sudden flashback.. but cant relate much as i skipped most of qinghe-kaifeng :((
hexi is really cool being part of a dream allows even more magical stuff
you guy try "arhat" encounter it really good and meaningful fr
Death of the Governor quest.
hexi stories are so fascinating
Wish the pacing was better, but it was pretty much just back to back cutscenes and dialogue... Though I suppose there was way more than enough content to pace yourself
Do the quest, move on to explore the region, clear a few camps, do another quest, etc... but this be murika man, we ain't got them self discipline
Shops reset!
Meh

if you "pace" some of those long crazy quests, you end up having to restart from the beginning lol
even with x3 talk speed Death of the Governor still at least 25minute long if you want to get all anecdote
Is guanying big figure name in liangzhou, outside main story?
Damn
I'm a little lost with the Hexi story. Why are we wanting to go to Chang'an?
If I remember correctly from the Chinese history guy. Changāan was the capital of the tang dynasty, making it a symbol of the power the empire at its height.
Even til now, there a phase smth akin to going back to the Tang and Han. Those dynasty can be considered chinaās golden age.
I guess itās was a wishing to go back when everything was great before everything fall apart
Please ask the history guy @scenic obsidian that man literally have a degree in this
Tysm for the response ā„

it was roughly at the end, ||when the assassin (us) was talking with the blind monk, the blind monk mentioned a girl with odd eyed features, that's when he called out her name and knew she's still alive||
Chang'an not only is the capital of the tang dynasty, it can also mean home for everyone else, representing the peaceful life when Tang is at it's peak
Where exactly is Blackwater city?

Is changan already fallen in this update?
This chapter set 80 years after jade gate pass event right, so gouxin and anxi army already lose
at jade gate pass, chang'an is already at a state of chaos, basically on the verge of falling

Amazing story

you cant kneel to the same boss 2 times?
how come the first time it works and second time it doesnt

where's my lore again
guys how do i unlock death of governer quest?
Which liangzhou quest do first in chronological order?
Dead
the recommendation is: homeward vow, bitter draught, two msq, death of governor then dasan pass
Jar
daily
thanks!
Hello, I was told to ask here but if it's wrong please let me know š
So I think it was a few weeks ago I saw a cinematic/video that had brief flashes of characters and one of those was a ||maiden asleep against a rock.|| I've been looking for the video all over with no luck so I'd like to know what video it was or if anyone can tell me who she is. Thanks šš¼
Any more details?
