Chu was in Hanging Blade, an organization who send warriors to spy the Khitans. Aunt Han is the water lady to perform cosmetic surgery for the spies.
He and aunt Han had disagreements before, when he asked her to surgery him to change his face so he could become a spy, but she didn't want it.
The Hanging Blade wanted to steal aunt Han's surgery techniques so they can create the spies themshelves, not depend on aunt Han.
They invited her to the Palace of Annals, tried to drug her while Tian Ying broke in her clinic to steal the surgery techniques documents. But she discovered that and left. Chu tried to stop her, and they fight each others at the bell tower.

It's been quite some time since I did the quest, so I might be wrong. There are two books: A name list & a book that records how to translate the name list. Aureate Pavilion/Southern Tang wanted to form an alliance with the Khitans back then, but Tian Ying interfered (Breezepost incident). Which was why aureate (note that Aureate & Southern Tang are separate authorities, but they might have a mutual agreement here) came to Qinghe to find him, planning to use his death to show their sincerity. That's also the reason why blissful retreat got burned (they wanted to get the books to trade for Khitan's alliance, bc some of those spies that changed their face got exposed, such exquisite techniques points to Aunt Han). Velvet Shade is under Shimmer of South (but also working with Song), and Jiangnan is famous for their illusions, so just like what they say, VS was using YM to burn the book, on the surface it appears that the namelist is at the Khitans, while the translation is burnt (I'm not sure if the actual was burnt or not, it could be that VS holds a copy). In reality, the namelist is at 9MW, while the translation is at VS.

From a purely technical standpoint, yes, the Hexi region would need to be larger if the original plan was to offer players an accurate/realistic map (in terms of map size, content, etc.).

However, according to developer interviews prior to the release of the Chinese version of Hexi, the developers made it clear that they created Hexi with the vision of presenting a romantic world with a different style of storytelling, and that the map was intended to be secondary to the story.

Furthermore, I think they did an excellent job with the first Hexi region by making players feel that the map was infinitely large and that the journey, the walking around, could feel endless, like the road to the moon... an extremely long journey that simultaneously feels very close.

Not saying that I like the way how they at the end did it. I dislike the first Hexi-Map as it barely includes any interesting areas, no actual content beside the MSQ and few Side-Quests, only few Boss-fights and the smaller Side-Quests are extremely boring and not unique, but I already reduced my expectations after I heard the interview and I believe that everyone who is a fan of their way how to tell a "romantic" - story still might like it

They could have built a lot more lore into the first map, but in my opinion, the second map is much better. It has better story constraints, more lore, and a greater impact on the main story.

The symbolism is there: Jade of Remembance is a psndand Zheng E had, it was lost and broken during the attack, and Shen Yilun picked up and fixed it and carried it with him; one of Zheng E's artifacts is a fan that Shen Yilun gave him when they were kids... even with the fan and pendant, you don't keep something for 12+ years if it isn't important, and then you look closer and fan's description is ruminating about their situation ||("the ruthless seize the fertile lands"... like you seized Shen Yilun?)||

Both Shen Yilun's journal entries are about Zheng E and are very thoughtful. We know younger Zheng E used to talk about Shen Yilun so much, his adoptive family from opposite side of the country had positive impression of him. You just don't keep someone in mind for 12 years unless they're deeply important to you.

It's tied to the cruelty of immortality, the deer boss might also be victim of it (if you notice, its arena is surrounded by a kind of herbs that is known for its properties in relieving illnesses). The reason why they used deers as a methaphor is because in cn, 鹿(deer) shares the same pronounciation as 禄(that means blessing, esp on good health & longevity), and also how deers are believed to live a long life. The paintings and legends we saw in wraith village were created by those who wished to achieve immortality, but in reality those are humans (Qing Yi in deer mask, who went out to save those affected by Sun Bu Qi's research). Honestly there's not much info about what happened to the deer in between all those years, so could be once again the greed of humans that put it on that state, or maybe something significant happened.

Well so, one thing is that although generally people think the deer in qinghe in liangzhou is the same, but we never know, so it's better to assume that they came from a same source to be safe. One thing that is more certain is that the weird worshipping pose, might have originated from the one in liangzhou. Bawu's story is a different case, his name was tightly related to the granny who made the immortal parasite & his fate. His title as the deer god spread was because of how he's always wearing his stag mask + his ability to command the insects through granny's teachings.

Being a monk is part of tian ying identity. It's his assumed identity sure but he's spent so long as a monk his martial arts will reflect that

Jade Gate Pass area was the western front to the Tang dynasty. Tang was occupied with civil war, and the Tibetan took the opportunity to invade a few key areas, completely cutting off the pass from Tang. The soldiers stationed there waited for assistance and reinforcement that never came, but they still hold the pass for half a century, until they all got old. Historically, eventually they were overran and died. The whole going home theme of the area is all the stranded Tang people (and their offspring) wanting to go home to the capital Chang An.
