murong yuan really did let go in the end, right?
Yeah, have you done her wandering tales? Her antique shows
yeah. the one where she said she's gonna go somewhere
Weird, I wonder if this dialogue only shows if you did her wandering tales first
Khitan people of today doing mukbang
Oh wow I need to read the rest of this book
dunno. i haven't done her brother's wandering tale yet
What? There is a continuation of this book??
Ah no it was just a general comment, the story is good I want to know what happens next
Is this a smut story lol? That's why it's "blurred title"
Lol sameš¤£š¤£
I want to know if it's yaoi smut or het smut
how exactly do we get the dark surge entries ?
They aren't tho right? Mongols are different from Khitans
Many methods, primarily picking up every note you see as you go through quests, and also talk to/listen in on NPCs on the locations. With NPCs you'll mostly get world exploration entries, but I've got dark surge entries from some. And some you unlock as you play through plot: Main Story, Jianghu Legacy and Campaign quests
interact with stuff around the map, quests and so on
they're literally a mongol nation
daur people of today of mongolian origin
thanks all
If you missing some of them, you can check Game Guides Channel YT Channel for them
ah i see, they are indeed descendants of khitan
I was confused bc the name said Mongolian Food and you said modern day Khitan, as they both are quite different even if they had common/similar ancestry
it was honestly just for giggle, it's funny that these nomads are descendants of conquerors before. they're really simple people nowadays
Yeah, modern lifestyle really has no use of the fierceness they used to have
Same with similar groups of people from around the globe
Are there lore about hollow Vale
Where's Weiyang City supposed to be? They keep saying Jiangnan so I was thinking modern day Nanjing, Hangzhou , or Yangzhou region but none of them were called Weiyang ęŖ央. The only ęŖ央 I could find is in Xi'an which is not in Jiangnan or even considered south...
Some lore I found in the game about where weiyang city is
who is jin zhongyuan
zhao guangyin
Big zhao is zhao kuangyi
Lore is the best
so this guy in the unholy prophecy quest is his younger brother who succeeds him in the future
Yeah
but what was the point of the quest
except showing his inner demon and stuff
also side question can i redeem the token he gave me
I need more lore
The point of the quest is his inner demon
Game wants us to know that he hates his brother's forgiving nature
And the daoist cult is up to sthing
When I meet his inner thoughts (in the yin yang room) i choose only the bad ones š
That makes a lot more sense. Thanks
so like does the girl comeback
Which one
is there a story behind Mistveil Prison and Mistveil Dungeon? Or is it just a sad ghost bride situation
Prob related to Jiang Kui, the Ghost Master boss. Some people say it's his sister, but I'm not sure how much of a joke it is
How to update the 1.2 mobile version?
Anyone tell me please
where do you guys see the info where tian ying fakes his death so he can go live his life? so i know where to read the lore on my quests
Is there any way to remove account data so i can have fresh start
Qinghe dark surge secret cutscene
So... Yall done with the mirage boat quest?
If white hair dude and thief dude are friends, why are we trying to catch thief guy who wants to give his friend a bday surprise?
Is Zheng e evil
not really, just obsessed with his goal, we smacked sense into him at the end of the campaign (mostly Shen Yilun)
not really friends, more like familiar acquaintances. the dynamic is more like a rival except its over relatively trivial stuff
Man I canāt believe I did all those quests in Qinge and didnāt connect who Tian Ying was for the longest time
I feel like I missed so much
Just finished the quest with Yan Datie after watching Tian Ying drown and Iām like āWell this is awkward.ā
Heās alive?!
I knew I heard people talking about him being alive but I thought they were just coping!!
Itās actually in the game?!
Not āto live his lifeā but ācontinue his work as a spyā
So⦠the quest with Tian Ying⦠can someone tell me how that long quest line started? I legit canāt remember
Why did we start looking for him again?
We just canāt help ourselves to be in everyoneās stories really
so who is qiyane, and why is she buddy buddy with aunt han?
without spoiling im after blissful
Aunt han didnt know who she was, and thought she was just someone in the jianghu who knows her. Aunt han is very famous in the jianghu
im surprised aunt han didn't know her, given everything
It's his sister. She was sold to be the bride of a ghost marriage. He tried to save her but she already dead.
I don't remember exactly but there is a book (?) in Ghostlight market about that story.
She certainly does now after the incident
One theory is that Qianye was the lady Aunt Han served as seen in her backstory, as we know Aunt Han had connections with the aurate pavillion before hiding in Qinghe. so it's just basically a cycle of revenge story
im excited to see what chapter 3 shows us, ive seen some spoilers of the CN server
one theory suggests that Aunt Han was the one who massacred that family as revenge
Finish dark surge and see for yourself
We got curious with the jade pieces and the device at the top of the pagoda
But the device was basically a batman sign for tian ying lol
i wish they gave a little more lore on the world bosses, like why they choose the area
mainly talking about non specific ones
like the snake doctor or pupeteer
ngl what happened to Unc Jiang? Always wondered about that or did I miss any lore
He's on a business trip
so he really just went to go get milk? Kinda expected he would do a lot of things since heās in the title screen š
In the very beginning of the game, you find a letter asking Uncle Jiang to look for Tian Ying.
Hes on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days
I thought he was gone for months tbh never saw him again šš
Yes it was from Wei right?
Who is Wei?
Smh at uncle jiangs finding skills bc how we randomly found this dude in the mountains and still no uncle jiang
With all the crazy things happening in Qinghe and Kaifeng. The Mc is the real mystery. Always wondered why he never wanted to search for his biological parents? Like Unc Jiang and Aunt Han are cool but they also left
I thought I was focusing on the story too much but apparently I know nothing that any of you are saying. I barely know names, I just remember aunt Han, ruby and ying ying and I donāt even know whatās up with Han and ying ying
hey I feel ya but idk if we can speak about spoilers here? š¤
Iām sure if you just put āspoiler:ā itād be fine
I finished the Kaifeng part so I havenāt seen what the Chinese has seen. I hope we find unc tho
do I just put āspoiler:ā ? Im a noob on dc tbh xD
the ones where the sentence turns black
I donāt actually know hold up Iāll google it
|| on both sides to spoiler
||like this||
|| Yingying invited everybody important and since Aunt Han is from Blissful Retreat she was invited as well but she never showed up. It was Mc who sneaked in instead ||
I usually just lurk so I donāt know these things
I think I remember that, itās when ||the fat dude faked stealing the golden bucket right?||
You mean big zhao?
It was yingying's plan to orchestrate a performance that the thing was robbed
Oh ok idk how Iāve been missing all the lore and I like story games
Lores are scattered everywhere and you have to piece it together by reading clues, antiques etc etc
If you only read the main story dialogues it's probably impossible to understand anything
Oh ok thatās probably why.
yeah Big Zhao is the brother of the prefect of Kaifeng || Heās also the emperor ||
Have to watch lore summary videos then everything you've read will probably click
Iāll probably do that.
I been skipping the side dialogue ngl
80% of the game's story is in the side content
|| The treasure basin was never real and they kinda throw it to the MC and he got falsely accused of trying to steal it. MC had seven days to prove his innocence ||
šæ ok that explains. I been getting impatient with the dialogue
Right, I remember that. Werenāt they like hoarding all the coins or something like that
I feel ya tbh itās very long if u dont 3x or skip it.
I put mine on 1.5 if i'm not willing to sit through all of it normally
Itās like normal speed is too slow and if you speed it up a bit is too fast
There were too much tang coins and it was causing inflation so they banned it. But the people were struggling
Just like the mother who couldnt buy medicine for her child
What really got me impatient was like the delays between sentences
Didnāt she steal from us? I never even knew that happened before they mentioned it
Idk if this is the right place to ask, i saw a character (rednote) but idk who they are or when they'll show up, i tried to ask around but no one gave a proper response š
She didnt have a choice so she stole coins. But it wasnt enough to buy the meds she was still short
Seeing there's snow it's probably in hexi
That's what i thought too
im assuming he could also be a side quest character, based on vibes
I havenāt seen snow yet so I probably wonāt know in a while
also people might hate 9MW but they did help in Kaifeng xD
9mw only scams stupid rich people, and WoH idiots
Itās the ninja looking guys right? Yeah I thought they were bad but nah theyāre cool

Cute emoji too
I lyk my sect
šššrat life
Did they ever mention if it was aunt Han that saved mc in the explosion? I thought that came out of nowhere and was never mentioned again. But I might have missed something
Game doesnt mention but it was her
She had to go into hiding after that, probably dont want to involve us so she just left
not sure if it was 100% confirmed but the one who saved Mc had red sleeves just like Aunt Han
Ngl I understand Unc Jiang and Aunt Han didnt want Mc to be in danger but itās sad like everybody just left
and Mc lost Yi Dao and Ruby š¤§
they could have send a letter or something so Mc didnt have to search š¤£
I genuinely didnāt think ruby would go like that. Mainly because Iāve barely seen any sort of media cap kids
MC would still look for them even if aunt han told him not to
Ruby isnt the only one lol
|| ooo, i saw this too. he's a general or something. his name is zhang huaishen. if you search å¼ ę·®ę·± in xhs, you'll see more of him! ||
true but mc bio parents are still the mystery
Ooh interesting š ||i love me a general lol, also i was told by a friend that he's affiliated with raging tides? Unsure|| but thanks
yeah so many died that day even people thought MC died
the red one
Unc Jian is the guy from the beginning right? And the other guy died? That guy seemed cool. I wonder if heād come back at some point
Chen zixi š„ š
yeah he saved Unc Jiang cuz Unc Jiang went on a trance and forgot he was fighting šš
He's still alive
He wasnt able to dodge
Chen Zixi is his name?
Wait they were fighting the void king right? Is he the same one as the boss?
the other guy is still alive? Didnt he use his body to save Unc Jiang? Dont remember him tbh
Wasnt fatal
And unc knew heās alive?
There is suppose to be a scene where he came to play with us when we were a kid according to spmeone
Oh. Secret scene or maybe it was cut?
sure thing! ||and yes, he is! š||
It's there somewhere, maybe in the trailers or pv
Omg lets gooo
they let him live but let Yi Dao go š
Yi daoās the goat
Death would have been too cheap if he just dies in a prologue while we dont even know who he is
No point from the point of story telling
I want to see baddie Han come back tho
she probably coming back in the new story update
Wasnāt that her in that trailer they dropped recently?
yeah
|| Imperial Palace trailer like with Emperor Big Zhao?š ||
It was when she was fighting her boyfriend at the bell tower, it happened in the past
Oh. So sheās the one that broke it?
Surely sheāll show up though, why show her in the trailer at that point
enemies to lovers or normal lovers quarrel
Her bf was distracting her while tian ying stole her face changing technique scroll
I donāt remember who tian ying is, who was that?
The guy you fought in the last lost chapter of jianghu legacy
thats why u dont trust š„²š¤§ But Aunt Han be rich with all the gold under Blissful
Why does she even have that money? I think I remember something about her leading an army?
Oh lol, idk it mustāve been for someone else
Aunt Han didnt lead an army but she and Tian were doing operations on people to change their face. I honestly feel bad to faceless zombies because they were the guys with failed operations
|| so like botched surgery irl 𤧠U encounter them at the bottom of the well where it was dark if I remember correctly. ||
Unfated tian, not to be mistaken with tian ying
How did you post image? It wonāt let me
Need to be level 5 in the server
#šcheck-your-level
Ohhh⦠boo only lvl 3
So! I just fought the Void King!
And WHUUT am I losing my mind or was that white haired guy at the end the bad guy with the bug?! The void king is who Uncle fought right?
And if so who is Qing Yi?
So if Void King is following white haired bug man then that must mean bug man is with Aureate Pavilion. And is he really the emperor? Is he the same emperor from Lucky 17ās story? (Or am I remembering wrong? Was that Chai Rong?)
Liu qingyi is the white haired's guy lover
She got pretty long lore to explain, someone did a summary of the gleaming abyss campaign if you're interested, it's pinned in the chat
Holy moly. Sheās got a pinned story. I know I saw her name so many times
So is Li Zuo the white haired guy?
Yeah
Thanks š
Oh one thing I find interesting though. When the void king collapses he sees Li Zuo in us.
Thatās really interesting. Is it a coincidence I wonder.
this is correct. Heās a pretty important character to the next region, hexi ā but you probably wonāt get to it until the last part of that continent/region
During the opening scene with uncle, didnāt the enemies mention āthe emperorās jadeā?
oooh, interesting. ty! š
@peak perch sorry for ping but thought you might want to know this bit too.
Oohh wonderful
Also dw thank you for the ping
yes, iirc, and this is spoilers from CN, stop reading if you dont want spoilers || based on CN story thus far the jade was constantly sought after as people believed it had the power to make the holder the true emperor [or that it was a symbol of the true emperor] ||
Oh wow
Void king vowed to defeat 1000 peole who goes into the cave to redeem himself after he lost to our uncle. Since we, uncle's successor somewhat beat him again, he hallucinated li zuo being disappointed at him again
So maybe this is a nuance lost on me but what is the meaning behind ātrue emperorā?
Do they mean literally the emperor in a traditional sense?
|| symbolism wise its similar to qin shi huangās imperial jade stamp ā this is a huge deal in chinese history as only the emperor was allowed to have one ||
hi, does anyone know when is new region like new main missions
Probably, china isnt united in the timeline of WWM
After fall of Tang and given the chaos of the era, there was essentially great power struggle ā but china (or what was ancient china) was united and shattered many times throughout its history
Oh so there was once a true emperor. But now there isnāt? Because the empire shattered? Is || Big Zhao|| not a true emperor then? And if not then Li Zuoā¦. ||he was the last true emperor?||
you can think of the jade to be a symbolism of āi am the rightful emperor of the united chinaā
but again its mostly a symbolism rn given what weāve seen and history, weāre not sure if this is what it really will be ā only the devs/writers truly know
big zhao actually usurped the previous emperor by faking a military mission and taking all the troops, only to convince the army heās a better leader instead
But not true emperor Iām guessing. Since thereās a distinction between true and non true.
(granted, he was ā at that time, hes essentially a war general hero and highly respected. The emperor was also a 4 (?) year old kid, dont remember the specific age but super young)
ātrue emperorā is interesting because across many of the emperors refer to themselves as ę ā (zhen), this is a term only the emperor can use and no one else can
Interesting⦠so then it makes me wonder about the MC and the jade. Because how did it end up with them? And did the previous emperorās have the jade?
additionally, another title for emperor is 天å, which literally means son of heaven
as it was kind of a belief that those who become emperor would be essentially āchosen by heavens willā
so because the past of how the jade has come to be havent been revealed, we donāt know yet if this is indeed the case, could be a red herring
Maybe Uncle put it around MCās neck? There was a cutscene not in game somewhere of uncle seeing a baby on the battlefield and picking mc up. (If someone can find this, please drop me a link)
so far the hints were that NPCs in game would mention it, and say things like āit can bestow someone with power to become emperorā
but so far || the jade has a history that goes back to before Chai Rong, during the fall of Tang, and it eventually was taken by Jiang Yan||
Uncle?
yeah, i think rn people say jiang yan prob put it around mcās neck to make it easier to carry š
uncle jiang = Jiang Yan = Jiang Wulang
Uncle?
Yes okay I thought so but I couldnāt remember if that was his dad
This sounds about right š
the other two are his various names (actual name and wanderer Jianghu name)
about the MC, current theory is that || weāre not royalty or anything||
I heard someone say MC is ||a demon||
I didnāt know if that was head canon, a joke or true
likely a joke
the latest hint that changed peopleās theories for MCās identity was dropped in the anniversary concert haha
Wait I just remembered something else. Didnāt Uncle Jiangās vision show MC fighting Jiang Yan?
someone said he was a son of an emperor š¤
highly unlikely
people had a lot of theories some even said a general. Ive been thinking about who is his biological parents tbh
I do kind of hope they are not a nobody. I know everyone loves an underdog rising to greatness but I also just like the idea of them being someone cool
It would discredit the writing style given the nature of the āmoral teachingsā of each quest/side story/encounter etc
if it turns out the MC was an emperor and someone of great influence by blood
Personally Iām more thinking reincarnated hero
Something like Blossoming Blade. Mount Hua comic.
|| the theory rn is that weāre just the baby of someone who fought in zhongdu bridge along with wang qing||
but why Mc had a jade tho is still a mystery to me
I thought Unc Jiang kidnapped a baby šwhen I first played lol that why people were chasing him
but in that essence, MC is the true last survivor of that battle and represents (symbolically) the hope to take back Yanyun
uncle jiang just put it on the baby
he prob had the jade before the baby
I thought he kidnapped the emperors child because the enemies were mentioning the emperorās jade Lolol
okay so the reason we had that jade is because it belonged to the person in the 1st anniversary trailer, so we survived that battle so he gave the jade to us with his name. so our name is completely CANON
yeah kinda thought he was an important baby with all the chaos
who was the person? I forget
unless Iāll have to go back and rewatch myself
What person? What name?
but why the masked guy (whos probably Jiang?) took the jade
if you named your character Peter that's his name
oh lol i get it canonically we took their name
Jiangāsā¦.?
From the trailers, guy looked like a WoH member
our name is canon because it is the name engraved on the jade pendant that uncle jiang put on us. it used to be someone else's so when unc gave us that pendant, he also gave us that name.
if your character's name is nomadic cheese then canonically the person's name is also nomadic cheese bc that's what's on the pendant
Oh you mean our username
Okay yeah that was too obvious that it went over my head because I was overthinking it
Btw this
Itās been a hot second but didnāt Jiangās vision show us in it?
yeah, the masked guy who took the jade is uncle jiang
also yes, uncle jiang was seeing MC's future
I thought this. But I was like āno way thatās too obvious ā
𤪠apparently I need to trust my instincts
the mask cant hide his eyebrows and eyes xD
Idk why he just didnt ask Mc for the jade lolol he had to pretend steal it
he didn't even try to hide his nose scar xD
Yeah, I remember tge story, but I'm not sure if she is /THE/ ghost bride in new event dungeon. (Might be, I just personally haven't done the dungeon yet, so I can't say it with my full chest)
I love reading all this speculation because I'm one of those rare people who actually is excited to find out spoilers since it motivates me to get to it and see it myself. :3
I saw in some trailer that previously we already had that jade hidden under the bundle š
I only started playing today, but I heard the main story of this game really engaging and gets you emotionally invested in the twists and turns.
So far, I'm enjoying the Soulslite mechanics, combat, and exploration. Though I'm miffed by other mechanics and some of the tutorials and menus, but... I don't feel I have the right to complain yet since I'm only a first-day player.
Oh, and the AI chatbot thing. Kinda feels like an idea that seemed fun on paper but wasn't implemented in a way which truly enhanced the game.
...I'm still stuck on that loach-digging boy's friendship. I keep getting stuck in loops of showing him Tai Chi. š
The only problem with the story is probably the bugged out voiceless where u can't hear their voice
There's a distinction in the sense that you only really count as having the mandate of heaven when the realm is unified. So unified Tang, and Song after (most would count them even though the realm waa not fully unified).
The others are pretenders until they succeed in unification
But all the Emperors of the period would have taken on imperial regalia, called themselves ę, etc etc
damn and here i thought wind sense is just some kind of feature that is used to make things easier, turn out there is a lore behind it
the masked guy is actually the nine mortal ways
my crazy theory that has no backing whatsoever; is that (assuming we are an emperor's son, whichever damn emperor that might be at this point) we are actually just some random dude's baby, the real baby who the pendant belongs to died in the chaos, but because of all the craziness happening around, uncle Jiang decided, ill just take this little guy in with me and try and raise them into decent adult, who knows, maybe faith decided this kid gets the pendant.
Itās been 3 years
He was showing up quite a lot during mc childhood btw. Global just didnāt get these bits for now
Plus I often see this misconception (which tbf is easy to miss and assume) that Chen Zixi simply āused his body as a shieldā, but that is not what happened in that scene. If you look closely to the detail pre and post vision you can gather that Chen Zixi was fighting Void King (reanimated version) all this time and finaly grabbed Jiang Yanās sword (which was with Jiang Yan when he finished the initial fight and walked away) to finish VK off (thrusting it through the throat), while also being stabbed in the process. That is why the bug āgives upā.
there are parts of the trailer that kinda contradicts all these theorie, imo. MC is seen wearing the jade at the end of the battle so there's no way jiang "put it in there". plus, the other character died before the battle was over, so how would he know the child would survive? and he said those words as he was dying, no at, lets say, at the beggining, when he could have given the jade to the baby
So is shimmer of south part of aureate pavilion? Or they are his enemy?
Afaik they work together
Hmmmm.
Do we know about the other twin of aunt Han? Is he/she still alive?
Do we even know whoās that person is
He's dead, if you mean the master in that chess backstory it's likely quianye
I mean the one that push her and made her escape. Is it the same one?
It's the twin who pushed her
Damn
The baby in the 1st scene got cut on the cheek and then when you get up to the generals shrine there's somebody up there as well with a cut on his cheek. Does that have any significance?
š¤
sometimes i wonder if her twin brother could be chu. she visits her brother's grave after learning about chu's death and there's also the broken mirror scene. it's just an alternative idea, though. nothing serious
That would be kinda incest bro lol
if he's her brother, then they would have sibling afection, not be lovers...
But they are lovers in lore so he can never be her twin
Most of npc models in game share that, it doesnāt mean anything apart from the fact the game reuses a lot of assets (that is why all sect disciples are identical etc)
Oh I see. So does that baby come into the storyline later down the road?
the baby is us, the MC
I thought so but I wasn't too sure.𤣠I mean ig i should've been cause of the jade pendant
Yeah and ironically you donāt have to keep that scar when designing your character
You know. Sometime relationship is interesting thing

Btw, where is the place we first fight the void king as jiang wulang?
Me: man that quest was so good! I love the story in this game!
Also me: *immediately goes to reddit/discord/youtube to ask what happened
Would love more cutscenes
yall think thereās a lore related reason why the lightness skills are incredibly slow
maybe it's because the devs feel like they are already pushing the limits of pseudo-physics and need to slow it down somewhat...
When I was little, people used to tell me that the ancient martial artists could hop across water and fly from tree to tree.... and as a toddler, I somewhat believed them.... thinking that Qi was a real thing that we somehow lost the ability to muster.... until I went to school and learned physics and biology...
Were there any stories in medieval Europe or Eurasia about warriors flying?
I haven't seen any so far... or at least it wasn't prevalent.. I've read quite a number of books about medieval europe but never have i come across any such claims..
Ancient Europe and China were worlds apart in terms of education, religion, tech, and culture.. (not that one is better than the other.. they are just so different)
The "scholars" you would often come across in medieval europe, if you were alive back then, would probably be the monks... and they would probably be more concerned with copying holy scriptures and devoting their whole lives crafting beautiful manuscripts and tomes than writing about whatever the ancient chinese scholars were writing about...
There are so many scholars in wwm..
ēæ°ęé¢, the Hanlin Academy, that you will come across in Kaifeng, near the central part of the city was a real institution.. a famous place filled with scholars and philosophers..
As far as I know, the Aureate Pavilion seems to be like the secret intelligence agency of the Southern Tang...
This very well could just be a gameplay thing, but is there any lore reason as to why itās impossible to get any Hollow Vale answers/results in the sect divination from the NPC in Harvest Fall Village? I was going to chalk it up to them being a sect with not a lot of people but Iād argue Mohist Hill is pretty low on people as well and you can get them as your sect
hey. is there anything after feng ruizhi quest? like we beat her gave flower and thats all?
whats the story with this guy
d
You need to free the deer god from the vines by placing longevity fruits and plant the seed to get discount in its boss fight š
Where is the location to plant the seed?
I wish we could mount this
Follow the glowing threads directions which are under the deer for all relevant locations involved (the planting spot and both shrines)
Near the teleportation stone twinbeast ridge, there will be npc with deer mask you can talk to
Same lol, that would be absolutely cool
Is Wen Wuhen related to Wen Wuque?
Yes same family
Is there a mention of their relationship anywhere? Like cousins or siblings, etc
cousins i believe, wuhen killed wuqueās mother
or half brother*
Actually, i think it was half brotherā¦
I KNEW IT
especially since he uses the EXACT same martial art as the MC so that was a dead giveaway
In their character bios
Yeah in their power struggle her mom died and wuque lost

maybe its a skill ping issue
anyone know what quest i have to do in order to understand more about Heavenfall and River Master? i've done the campaign last night and i still don't really understand about it, especially about previous River Master and all and idk if it just me but this campaign is rather shorter than others i've done so far (i havent done the last Kaifeng campaign)
There's dark surge
Dont know which one
But heavenfall and rivermaster lore is kinda scattered everywhere, there's no specific quest to understand it
hmmmmmmm very tricky, i mean it's not as detailed as let say the God of Avarice and Murong Yuan
just realized we never got a closer look on khitans even in flashbacks lol
tbh it's hard to tell which is which
@queen loom Most of heavenfall's lore is tied to the character zhu yu, so if you see her name mentioned through antiques or dialouges, that's where you get the lore of heavenfall rivermaster
that's the first River Master, no?
She was the ex river master, after she died her husband feng yi took the spot. But she's the main character of the side river master lore
Kinda like tian ying of qinghe
historically, Khitans are like Mongolians, no? unless thats a misconception from my part
i see, Tian Ying lore is very scattered, but lots of npc mentioned his name a lot
Yeah, it's the same for river master in kaifeng
i also need the lore of the beeg fish, i need its origins and all haha
She was the original River Master. Long before Feng Yi took the title, she carried the authority, responsibility, and spiritual bond with the river. Her death didnāt erase that legacy it only transferred the position. Feng Yi inherited the role, but not the origin of the power nor the story behind it.
She wasnt the original, there were other river masters before her
Yes, you are right, There were multiple River Masters before her, each part of a longer succession tied to the riverās history. Her importance doesnāt come from being the first, but from how pivotal her tenure was compared to those who came before.
She was the best at her job lol, too bad she met her demise early
i am a character design enjoyer so i tend to look a whole character design from head to toe, i noticed out humble boatman got chest tattoo underneath and the moment i see the River Master for the first time it clicked to me THAT IS OUT BOATMAN WHAAAAT
mask cant hide those cool tattoos XD
So yes, too bad she left early in human terms. But spiritually, it may be that she fulfilled exactly what she was meant to, and the river moved on only because she made it possible. Sometimes the best guardians arenāt remembered for how long they lived but for how deeply they shaped the flow.
She's the tian ying of kaifeng after all, wish you could meet her but alas
Im like 90% sure lil zhao is behind her death though
which zhao we talking?
The current song emperor's brother
the real emperor is the bigger guy, isnt it
Yeah
the one saved us with chickens?
Big Zhao is goated, his brother though is kinda suspicious
Thereās no outright confirmation that Lil Zhao caused her death. But there are circumstantial signs: motive, timing, and the way events conveniently benefit him afterward. More importantly, the narrative frames her death as unnatural in consequence, not just unfortunate, something engineered rather than purely fated.
yeah its likely by someone with quite power to pull of this allegedly river master assassination
Her daughter mentioned a black figure that caused her death during the flood, I'm very suspicious of the brother being behind it
OR maybe it's the work of the only assassin mentioned a lot by npcs...aka Tian Ying himself
but idk i hvent unlocked the dark surges so maybe im wrong haha
Nah tian ying now has a new identity doing espionage work in khitan now
What the daughter mentions a black figure appearing during the flood is one of the most important clues weāre given. Floods in this lore arenāt just natural disasters; theyāre moments where human schemes, spiritual forces, and chaos overlap. A shadowed or obscured figure in that context almost always signals deliberate interference, not coincidence.
oh really? i need to read more i guess bcs i dont remember reading that part
U can't miss it if it go across your whole screen. U just haven't get there yet
It's qinghe ending but u need to unlock the proper ending
proper ending?
Ya it don't just end once u beat tian ying
U haven't unlock the dark surge last node
hmmm ok ill check my dark surge later and see if i miss it or havent unlocked it, thanks!
they are a mongol nation yes, but a bit earlier than the United Mongol Empire
khitans today are the Daur people scattered across China
for context, Genghis Khan earned his name in 1206
the Khitan empire has already fallen by the time Genghis Khan rose to power
damn, WWM even more ancient that Gengis Khan era huh i see
btw Song Dynasty was among the first to utilize fireworks and the use of early cannons so in terms of innovation, this was the dynasty where it'll make sense that Mohist Hill really played a huge role
we're still playing in fantasy setting though so expect that history in the game can still be altered
yeah, i always treat this as fantasy, just like western with their medieval, WWM with their ancient china fantasy which i kinda familiar to some extent like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon vibes haha
Can someone lmk if this is real or fake
tbh it'll be a lifelong great choice if the devs made it so we can play as our grandchilld but this time, against the united mongol empire lol
it'll be ghost of tsushima all over again
latest campaign boss was the ruler of southern tang for context so expect that this game will reach almost 1 TB once it's all said and done lol
Where are the 16 prefectures? Is Qinghe near them? Or in them?
that's like my entire gaming laptop storage rn š
idk what the devs are planning but they better give us a commendable time skip cause it doesn't make sense that we do this sht in just a few years
pray they prepare for it if they really want to closely inspired by real chinese history
tbf uncle jiang and aunt han be putting us in a training montage since 5 yrs old and both are legends so it's understandable
we got our arse beaten by Qianye and Killer blade then we proceeded to humble the GOAT tian ying is purely plot armor at its best lol
to be fair, tian ying held back a bit
idk if this is us or the person we got the jade from tbh
lore accurate look lol
quick question, the general fighting in the arena pvp cutscene is general wang qing, right?
bro is the real true PVP lord
those in the leaderboard are just buncha fakes
must be a or ex-Midnight Blades XD
speaking of commendable i even found two npcs talking about us near the village that we got poewrful TOO strong quickly lol maybe the devs also noticed it too
he's more associated with Well of Heaven tho
nobody can or will surpass the one and only PVP lord general
Jiang Wulang was Wall of Heaven so he's closely related to the Gay Allegations
all those years with Aunt Han and he didn't even crack that Baddie
i was waiting for you to point that out lol
even ppl joke about it
like WoH is freaky as hell what do you mean a sect member was saying my senior brother smells good...
he got other priorities i'm afraid
he's literally the village drunkard just super strong
uncle jiang be like
To be fair, Tian Ying was /trying/ to get himself "killed", chances are he gave YM a lot of slack. And let's not pretend he didn't know YM (not personally, but face-wise). He had crossed paths with Han and Jiang, he operated in the same area for a while, AND this youngster isn't keeping his relationship secret. Tiang Yin knew whose kid he was fighting, I don't think he'd risk actually hurting YM (=summoning Han's anger on himself)
jiang is the quinessential OG cool jianghu wanderer
went hundreds of miles just for a bottle of milk
he wields nameless martial art, has (river no waves) as his name, and even a little drunk
u cant get more "jianghu wanderer" than that
but used us as labor anyway
Which sect doesn't have the allegations?š
making the most outta the orphan he rescued
probably mohist hill, they're basically machinesexuals
they're also said to be most introverted among the sects too? (or no?) cause how much it's rare to see them lol
yeah, they're pretty much concealed in the mountains
Then throw in Lone Cloud in there too, math nerds (though, as STEM student, I could argue that's a basis for allegations)
the jianghu version of IT majors
they socialize with others as seen in Kaifeng, I guess people just don't want to argue with them
argue with a lone cloud member and you gotta make sure you have all your facts check cause if not they will clock your tea
literally them when you decide to argue with them
Even when the whole village tried to set them up too! Either Chu or Han (or both) put the fear of god in our poor uncle that he didn't risk it
when did village set them up?
he's already got a boyfriend lol
but idk if void king managed to kill him or not, but i think he's still alive
"Frost beneath the well" story mentions it (and how Dr.Tian was pissed about this)
tian likes aunt han?
Yeah, the Ferryman likes the Water Lady A LOT lot
that part is kinda not clearly stated but i do like to believe he's alive
ngl I would crack that baddie too
To the point that his name is basically a joke about unrequited love (in Chinese text too)
i think tian was jealous of chu, not jiang
He was openly jealous of Chu, and he was pissed about the village trying to set up her with Jiang
it's basically a big complicated love triangle
To the point that when Han came back from their big fight with Chu, Tian didn't even try to hide that he watched and was oh-so-happy
Add in sasunaru-esque plot between Yi Dao and Chu, and you get a big mess. At least kids got a lot of caretakersš¤·āāļø
One of them should've joined VS and got everyone into a harem, they've got just enough people for that[/joke]
we probably got a great childhood watching all that drama, we often got those when I was a kid living in JIangxi lol
yea i know the chu part but where did it say village was trying to set her up with jiang? i missed that part
Nine Mortal Ways? š
Same text, different paragraph
BDSM allegations cause they like beating up customers in the casino
The half-naked show-offs with whips as part of the package deal don't have the allegations?
aren't they like half naked for their sect outfits lol
i assume they just poor dont have much money so they just wrapping bandages XD
spare them! even the elders are literally looked like beggars/hobo š
that whip weapon ain't helping clear the allegations either
With their disguise skills, they probably just throw a coin and one in the couple masquerades as other sex when they go on dates, so nobody suspects a thing
that rope bcs they can't afford steel for blades so they just pick up knives and attach some rope they found laying around and call it a day š
where? i look at han and jiang and unfated tian character bio i dont see that
Compendium -> texts -> "Frost beneath the well"
it's funny but also a bit heartbreaking at the same time if you think about it
considering the MC's chilvary tendency, they would typically join well of heaven tbh
yeah, it's sad yet teach us we gotta go with what we got eventually, at least thats what i pick up..they so poor that their SECT COMMAND is to receive others giveaway thru begging š
although the real canon way to approach sects is to join them all bc that's what we wanted to do as a kid
I think it was intentional by the NMW founder, just so anyone willing can join without spending an arm and a leg for gearš¤ (don't remember source, don't quote me on this)
which part are the texts under?
Poetry and tales, then scroll down past geographic entries to The Lore
yea i think so. i would have joined but im lazy and 9mw is easiest to upkeep reputation
"status and wealth didnt matter as long as you got the heart"-ahh š
YM so overpowered after spending youth training under Aunt Han and Uncle Jiang that the perspective of all sects hunting them as a traitor is a minor inconvenience, risk worth taking to complete childhood dream
I mean, yeah, that was the point. As Far As I Recall, the style was created by fresh-out-of-jail lad trying to help people from same impoverished background defend themselves during time of unrest and wars. He's got a point about "pick up a knife and tie a rope to it, and off you go"
thanks. although i couldnt find it in the end
You have to pick it up somewhere around the clinic, then go to bag->quest items and archive it, for it to be recorded (this goes for 90% of lore entries you pick up around the world)
ya i pick it up before. i google what it look like and i read the thing before. i just cant find in compendium lol
I just realised nameless general is related to jiang yan
Lore Accurate fit
I miss some scene .... Why did RUBY go on top of the hill to "raise" the red flag?
she broke through the illusion mist first so her flag guided the trapped villagers out to safety
Ah i see ... thanks!
also the horse survive?
is it the same horse got many arrows beside her?
or different one?
Same clip clop
So she can wait for yidao in netherworld
Hmmm .... horse survive after got 3 arrows .... but Ruby didn't ....
I guess she just a child that's why can't survive?
You can say wwm is racis- oh wait wrong word
Huh? I thought everyone in the game were Chinese?
How bold of you to assume the horse is chinese too
I remember when the horse got shot it was the normal kind from the black shirt guys, but ruby got shot by the one qianye pulled (it was glowing red i remember)
Me being surprised the animal that weights 700kg of pure muscle can hold more dmg than a 10 year old girl
You call that being poor, I call it being economically efficient
Did the spirit of rope dart's inventor possess you to write it?
Its the spirit of ROI
however you word it, in the end the rats found a way
chronologically, which one we should do first: the River Master campaign first or River's Fury Jianghu Legacy?
Probably river master camapaign
hmmm i see then im right bcs i need more River Master lore hmm
What? Is it true? How exactly?
Its a schizo post. Its related to the army of Ye wanshan
Ohh alright. Does any of the world boss can be interact with after the battle? Like wolf maiden, puppeter flower expanse beyond (sheng wu & wen), feng ruzhi
I think thats all, maybe you can count Daoist for his side quest where you troll a merchant
Ohh you're right lol𤣠the fake donkey meat. I remember some of the signpost about following the daoist after the encounter end
I still have 5 cooking of fake donkey meat𤣠thank god we can eat it lol
I really can't wait to see Hexi for lost chapter that has ||black hair Li Zuo with Wang Qing (I believe Li Zuo use 2 harmonic cores to change his hair to white š¤£)||
How did Fang Xu (WoH member) get the blue firefly (from Li Zuo)? I replay the game using my bro's new account. Just realised that he has that blue firefly when he is in friendly fight
The merchant in the shrine is Li Zuo in disguise
the one that stays near the horse
Ohh the pilgrim who sells buns
Dangg. How do you know it š
It shows it in a cutscnene that the firefly goes to him
or something similar
Ohh, I didn't realize that š I believe Li Zuo maybe always around us lol, like putting tabs on us by disguising into npcs
I dont think he knows we are alive after Blissful Retreat attack
now the question is why does bro have beef with us
is it just because he's an uncle jiang hater?
Anyone know what the Faded sword tassel is for? found it when i went back to Uncās bamboo hut. In the inventory itās under āEvent itemā
is it the one where the flavor text talks about a guard betraying his beloved or smth?
He is a jian hater because of us
nah, but actually reddit kinda answered my question haha looks like itās related to a later quest
then that means we gotta be special then?
Did you not notice your can hear like a superhuman?
Or how we learn martial arts with just 1 look
Since I play through my bro's new acc, it seems it's already there at the beginning of the ch 1 (after update)
My theories run wild lol, but still wishing we are li zuo's someone š¤£
Is it ch 3??
1:i thought it was just a gameplay thing and that every notable swordman had it.
2: i meant special as in royalty/nobility or the son of a general or smth
Jan Bujian (?) The fellow WoH like our uncle either he doesn't like or hates wind sense lol iirc
Some people said it's because we are descendant of or from Tang, since we have the ability to use wind sense
There are some encounters where its specified your wind sense is close to supernatural. You can feel the "music" that the oddity seller describes to you
thats super interesting
isn't it just related to the attunement with the world?
especially since ghosts seem to be drawn to us
Its way beyond that, the 2 new encounters it shows your perception is not normal
sorry who's Tang? I can't keep up with the Chinese names sometimes
The dynasty that ruled CHina before the Khitan takeover
The guy that followed Jiang in the intro is called "The Last Emperor" in the research files
In the game he is also the person that was in love with the immortal girl from Gleaming Abyss
Li Zuo
the guy following us you mean yhe the white haired guy with the insects or the void king?
White haired guy
so in the future we might potentially be putting dirt in our grandpapy's eyes? based MC ngl
We dont know if we are related, or we are an experiment
since Li Zuo has been around to experiment on immortality and has most likely achieved it himself
or atleast has extended his life extremely well,as the deer god immortality shown in gleaming abyss seems to not be good and uses dangerous miasma
is it explained why we fight nameless general? i just TPd to him on the map and beat him up, no explanation given
They are doing a military parade and training exercise
YM sometimes just be getting into things they shouldn't touch
by nameless general you mean the one whe get the yin buddha stone from?,oh wait wrong general Lmao
No, the world boss in martial temple
more aura farming opportunities
i see TY
Sometimes they touch him without consent like Daoist
gotta flash to those peasant soldiers all the swag auntie han bought us with that sweet sweet Wine

Or Jiang Kui, YM earned this beating
what did we do to the poor boy again?
Nothing, he just wants to do necromancy on his dead girlfriend and we just happened to be near him, activating his autist screech
That's the Ghost Master, he was just sitting there, but YM just had to touch his wedding sedan
I think you're thinking of someone else....
No, that is ghost master's lore
he is trying to revive his bride
Isnt Jiang Kui pretending to be ghost brides to kill all those people still doing this dumbahh tradition?
He is dressed in Phoenix robes (equivalent to western white dress, the bride's clothes), pretending to be a bride to attract anyone who might've pryed on his sisters
dead sister*
I understood it as his wife. but that makes sense anyways. In short, dead girl he wants to revive+killing people peeping
According to what I know his sister was a victim of the ghost bride tradition, and he started pretending to be the brides of girls who were forced to become ghost brides to save them
He came to Mistveil forest because of the rumors of drug that can raise dead (||Sun Buqi's sleeping puppet curse||), but it's way after he started those ghostly shenanigans of his
Im talking why he specifically fights us. We just happened to stumble upon him
Oh, yeah, and YM can't help themselves but touch everything suspicious-looking
I didnt know why he was there, so he wanted to revive his dead sister huh
Another Zheng E lol
But I wasnt sure if Zheng E wanted to revive his sister too or just keep her body from decaying
I'm looking at his compendium (enemy) entry, it says he came for the rumors
could his sister be the blind assassin girl that's also tian yang's girlfriend?
Dont think so, but she also suffered from this weird ahh tradition yeah
thats what the aureate deep state wants you to think. It was a real ghost
I think Zheng E doesn't have such delusions, he's worked pretty closely with medicine and silver needles before spiraling, so he'd know what exactly that "raising dead" means
Regions too far, Jiang Kui seems too obsessed with his murder quest to travel from Qinghe to Kaifeng
Honestly, there are still some cases of the tradition close to modern times, and the trope seems to be popular in Chinese stories, so it's no wonder there are few instances of this in WWM
It's the perfect horror trope in chinese games
Is the mistveil dungeon scary though, I'm bad with horror stuff so I've been putting it on hold
same lol
and now there are two of them

i went in and ran out 10 seconds later
My fr asked me to co op in that dungeon but game kicked me out cause you can only do it alone lol
dungeon isn't as scary as prison. both are all just jumpscares plus the music š
prison was a pain tho
Finding 18 chest with mini map covered doesnt seem too exciting that's for sure
oh man , why they gotta turn the traditional bride costume into a horror thing...
it's not that scary irl
It's also usually clean
ikr
Jiang Kui really needs to take a bath, like I know revenge is sweet, but maaaan
š¤£
I watched a short and it got me thinking again
|| DAO LORD, and the (damn drawing a blank on name now) the thing that "gives" the coins, we saw dao lord literally grab it last in cutscene but at the end after we fight everyone and we see what we believe is it, we think that's it? Is that just a oversight on the plot? Because our MC should of known i think, cause she/he was watching them all reach for it before hand. And then later when 1 of them show up and runs off underground, it kinda is the selling point that they r definitely dao lord if u remember that detail and connect the dots. ||
Idk is it just me then? Those 2 points seemed obvious though
Rewatching that scene the MC only got out of the smoke after dao lord took it so there's no way MC would have known
We, as players, have the privilege of cinematic camera showing us everything necessary, but Young Master was stuck on the ground with his single point of view, obscured by the fog. They can't see everything we see
Recently I watched an American friend play the game with Chinese audio and English text, and I noticed that the localization of the game uses "Young Master" to refer to the MC in almost all dialogue, but the Chinese audio would use different terms of address depending on the context.
For example, in Blissful Retreat, Young Master in Chinese would be å°äø家
But elsewhere, strangers who do not know the MC would address him/her as å°ä¾
but in both cases, the term of address in the English sub would be Young Master.
These are the subtleties that would be lost in translation
å°äø家 translated as Young Master isn't wrong.. but still might be mistaken as a Young "martial arts master"...
Or a person's Shifu, master, who happens to be young
A better translation might be Young Boss since in Blissful Retreat, Aunt Han was the Boss or Chief of the place, and the locals respectfully call her nephew (the MC), å°äø家 or Young Boss or Little Boss
But outside of Blissful Retreat, it would be strange for strangers to address the mc as Young Master...especially if they haven't seen the MC do any moves in combat.. or perform any feats
å°ä¾ should probably be translated as Young Wanderer
hmmm even that isn't exactly right
ä¾ has chivalrous connotations; a ä¾ is someone who protects the weak and upholds justice in the jianghu
kinda like a knight errant in the west
Young Warrior might be better? idk
English-Chinese localization is so tricky..
ä¾ isnt a word that lend itself easily to english translation. simply cuz need to know the culture of wuxia to understand what is ä¾
u can translate to young hero, but westerner have different view of hero that differ from typical ä¾
like u say, wanderer also wrong
is not jus translation of language, is culture also. it cant be done 100% but its ok
I took a single look at the list of possible translations and synonyms for ä¾ , and it's so šµāš«šµāš«šµāš«
Love words like this in my native language, but I can only imagine how much of a hell it's for translators....
It seems, other than "hero", ä¾ also gets close to "noble-spirited", but not 100%, and it's not exactly something you could use as a noun/title

U can. People who know the culture will know what it means. Like what ronin means in Japanese context. It's just more people are unfamiliar with Chinese context
can somebody tell me if Qianye and Aunt han is same or not?
like that one as world Boss and other is a story boss
True-true
I mean "noble-spirited" is not exactly a noun/title word
Although it'd be fun to hear (xiao)dongjia/xiaoxia as adressing to MC, but considering they didn't even keep sonewhat known shizun/shifu/shixiong/etc, I think they were going for adaptation in places where it can't be translated
i mean Heartseeker not qianye
No!
Aunt Han isn't a boss. Heartseeker is a hallucination/inner experience of YM, not a real situation. In the cutscene, they called out for Aunt Han because they were looking for her at the moment.
Meanwhile Qianye is, well, Qianye, the Witch
ah so Heartseeker is just an bad dream about aunt han right?
It's a bad dream that for some reason took a form of a Guest that was recently being weird to Young Master (aka, YM saw Qianye not so long ago, and near Auntie, so the nightmare took her form)
Although, the bossfight is described as "inner demon", and that's not exactly a "bad dream" or "nightmare" type thing
ahan
thanks alot i got it
Where is the backyard brewery??
heaven's pier
The brewery is the village you pass by on the way to blissful retreat right?
yes
Unlocking the area above blissful has me all confused. I forgot there was a whole road below it
4
Okay yeah I understand why this is so hard
Something aināt right
Iām trying to get the dark surges but the recipes heir wonāt unlock. Iāve followed guides and eaten all the foods in Qinghe
But it doesnāt unlock. Does anyone know whatās up?
Am I supposed to eat all the dishes 10 times each??
just one of all 10 dishes but encounter quests are finicky to trigger. there's a cooldown of 30min between encounters you can trigger so you have to wait then buy and eat all the food again.
and if you have 2 existing encounters, finish them or at least one since you can only have 2 at a time.
also https://discord.com/channels/1180042348755963924/1180056797906735164 is a better channel lol
Bah⦠these dark surges are turning into a headache.. š this is quickly not becoming fun. Most of these are too obscure. Thanks for the help
I didnāt know that was a channel cuz it wasnāt in my channel list. Thanks
I just unlock these dark surges as I go along... they are meant to gradually unravel as you explore the world
but yea it might be a little confusing and disorienting initially
Itās more that things arenāt explained properly
Iām fine with easter egg hunts, but when they tell me to find eggs only to actually mean eat them thatās when I start getting frustrated.
And tbh in an organic environment, most people are probably stumbling upon most of this by chance unless theyāre following guides, which means the devs never intended for people to know what was going on in the main quest.
So the base design is to be vague?
Yeah okay sure, but at what point when they introduce you to Chuās name in the main story, were they going to explain in the main story who Chu even was? You canāt do that stuff in storytelling.
It wouldnāt be that big of a deal even, if the ending to the campaign wasnāt hidden at the end of the dark surge.
He would be our uncle if he was in wang qing army
How many region does CN server have compared to Global? Im curious how much content/lore to look forward to
å¼å°
ęø
ę²³
äøč§å±±
河脿
Some sect bases
but for the main story, you only had to know Chu was someone good that aunt Han cared about and could be considered Yi Daoās friend, it was a way to establish Yi Dao and Hanās connection to set Yi Dao up for more emotional damage when he sacās himself
peeling back the layers to see how the world worked an its political forces at play is what the dark surge is about
Considering that Chu is turning into one of the most important figures in the game Iām going to have to agree to disagree with you, in all due respect. I want to absolutely clarify that I LOVE lore and mystery. I like dark surge as a mechanic. But I think itās a terrible mistake to obfuscate some of the things that they have behind dark surge. At least to the degree they have.
Chu is dead, heās not any important anymore
Isnāt he in one of the upcoming Chinese updates?
Ah I see. I still think it shouldāve been explained a bit better though. And I do still think them jumping to where they did after the explosion was a bit too much. Like I said, Iām not trying to hate on it. Tbh I only say what I say because I like it. Itās a bit too vague in some areas.
aunt Han is the more important one and probably the focus of that teaser
Kaifeng does the same with Zhu Yu
Can't wait to see his story (if there is)
Interesting. I've never thought Chu to be important in any way, especially after I learned that he might be dead (i didn't believe he was dead when I first learned about it tho)
no body no death that sorta thing
Hexi as a region is gonna be SOOOOO exciting
I have always wanted this region represented in a game.
I think many Chinese sees Hexi as a sort of mystical place.. an exotic region...
So I can imagine their joy when they get this region.
If i'm not wrong there is another AAA game in development that features the Hexi region as the main setting..
something about a dad looking for his kid ... kid had gone off to join some uprising against the Tang Dynasty or something... forgot
Would you have joined a peasant uprising against the late Tang dynasty?
I wonder how Liu Bang felt when he decided to rise up against Qin
You sure can. Itās just a different style of story telling
I wouldn't be surprised if the game gradually reveals every single member of the Hanging Blades over the course of several big updates
or maybe not...
too many characters..
Isn't the eight immortals of hedong is part of the hanging blades?
You using a youtube guide for dark surges?
Both videos and written.
But not initially. I wanted to solve it without guides. Unfortunately it proved to be a bit too much of a hurdle so I just gave in.
Yeah doing dark surges without guides is crazy work
Which dinasty/kingdom chai rong and wang qing side on?
Dark surge without guide is impossible unless you comb through like, every inch of the land and talk to every NPC
Dark Surge without guide is only for the true explorer gamer
I wonder how those youtubers can make those guide video.
Like, how th they know to go to location xxx at yyy hour after doing zzz action to trigger.
Did they datamine the game file or something?
some play the game while recording so they can use it for video editing
some prob use cn guides
That was kind of my point actually, stuff should be easier to find without having to rely on a guide.
is well of heaven sect base already in game?
Because with Windtail it's clear they wanted it to be clear (and make that possible) but the text they provide isn't clear enough to actually be very useful.
Blood Message
I wish they go back to having big real-feeling cities like Kaifeng. Hexi just feels too high fantasy to me
I don't know. To me WWM feels more xianxia than wuxia to begin with.
the nuance in texts in the global version of the game also got lost in mistranslation. a lot of things are worded weirdly
Yeah, I think that's mainly what's wrong tbh
no, but there's a WOH martial camp in kaifeng
yeah. i tried going in there since i joined woh but they boot me out. game is bonkers
wish solo world npcs can identify sect membership for more immersion š
as a 9mw disciples u still have to disguise as a 9mw disciples to enter their camp in Kaifeng.
true. player sect is just all fluff and no actual street cred
anyway, is there a lore reason why Li Laizuo can be an "Old Friend?" Bro is a blatant Aureate Pavilion member
can someone explain or link me to a vid that explains what is going on in this quest
why is there a big fish down here
and how did it get so big
i have no idea either, but i think the big fish is the former river master
I think (?) Aunt Han was also an aureate pavilion member once.
I wanna say I read somewhere in game that one of the people we know at least had connections to them once
why do they wanna make big fishies thou
Apparently to control the flow of the yellow river
so a river master is just someone who controls the big fish?
Yeah, they control the river to a certain extent too
But when real floods come not much can be done
why do they want to control the flow of the river
Well the yellow river is both a blessing and a recipe for disaster in ancient china
It makes land around super fertile but floods also happened frequently
I suppose river masters somehow make the river benefit the people more
so in summary, the town bred big fish through experiments, a river master is appointed to control the big fish, every 15 yrs the big fish goes crazy and destroy things, soooo why are we killing it now?
But when mother nature unleash her wrath even they cant do mich
Zhu Yu, the ex river master already died
So it's up to the MC to put her fish down
ohh i see. story is really hard to comprehend tbh
The fish is already suffering from the symptoms, which is why when you fall into the water in that campaign he straight up eats you alive
if u kill the fish, then that means no more controlling the river flow, so no more blessings for the town?
That's the fish of the EX river master
Current one has another fish and was the ex river master's husband
The guy you fought in the heavenfall campaign, feng yi
ohhh the campaign boss with the big sword, that big fish?
Yeah, different fish
ohhhh
FIsh you killed was past its expiry date
then why didnt the husband kill the fish then?
or anyone else, like why did they wait for u
Well the fish is zhu yu's pet
Her legacy etc
People close to her probably cant bring themselves to kill it too
hmmmm
each fish got their own master and it's their responsibility to end them when the time comes, people of Heavenfall honor that tradition thats why no one kill the fish, but us, who without ties with Heavenfall can kill it because we never follow their traditions..thats what i got hmm
I think you explained it perfectly, and Zhu Yu's reputation was close to a deity around that area. People literally pray to the river master
and there's that too. you wouldn't dishonor your own deity. i'm liking Heavenfall lore bcs the beeg fish, i think it's the first big creature i fight in the game, and also i'm a Monster Hunter player so big monster lore excite me lol
Chai Rong was the last Emperor of the Later Zhou dynasty, the predecessor to the Song dynasty. Wang Qing was from an earlier dynasty, the Later Jin dynasty
Guys
About song dynasty are safe from Genghis right?
Still many years left before he starts reducing co2 emission xD
The Battle of Zhongdu Bridge, which Wang Qing died in after he led the famous assault on the bridge with 2000 men, was during the Later Jin
Song Dynasty was eventually eliminated by the mongols
not by Genghis himself, but by his descendants.
Yes I know but we have big Zhao rn
yea. Song just started in our game.
We got 200 extra years kinda
merely 2 years since its founding
We are safe more or less ig
I mean I don't think we can beat em Mongolsā°ļø it's impossible
yea.
I just ignored the big fish... doesn't seem very important to the plot..
The humans in the river story arc were way more interesting, I think.
In the Chinese text, people call the guy you fought with 河伯, which is like River Lord or River Deity.
People would make sacrifices to him to prevent floods or ensure great harvests
Because the Yellow River was so unpredictable and turbulent, the people who lived along its banks grew very superstitious
I need every zhuyu related plot I can find
I guess the devs included the big fish because the River God was known to be able to command aquatic creatures.. so I guess it made sense that he brought the biggest, baddest fish in the river under his control... because he kinda was counted upon by his worshippers to keep the river safe haha
and also because it made for a pretty interesting fight!
but experience wise.. for me, I just quickly ignored what I experienced after the fight.. I was like... walking away from the battle and be like "no... yea.. no... there was no giant fish the size of an apartment.. no.. that didn't happen.."
The fish was fed medicine by river masters to become that big
Real chinese people back then would have totally slaughtered that and fed an entire district of people with it hahaha
My guess.. that was my guess..
or more likely, they would end up worshipping it š
They wouldnt dare eat that fish
oh yea I think the later expansions would introduce some pretty wild tech
it looked sooooo delicious to me in that battle.....
The fish did make me crave for soem seafood hotpot
hahahahahaha
right?
fat and juicy
poor residents of 天äøę„ęø” (I think it is called Heavenfall village in English) were starving and thinking of moving away or working for rivals...
but many were still loyal to the new boss
They need to bend the knee
its sad knowing the fact that it trusts its master so much that it wont attack back no matter how we hit it š
nah free food to feed the whole town
they needed that food so badly hahaha
If you read zhuyu's sword antique, the fish knew that his time was up when he saw the sword for the last time
And that he could finally go meet his master
Finally got the dark surge ending
Is the info about what happened after the explosion in the Kaifeng story instead?
Explosion?
The developers made so many Chinese puns in this game that I think the people in charge of english localization must have needed therapy by now...
Yao yaoyao, Zhu Yu, A Yu...
All that hidden meaning lost to all the non-chinese speakers... a huge waste..
There's an NPC that goes by MacDonald's...
éŗ¦ę”å³ććć
and the MC goes like "this name...."
and the NPC gave a lore-friendly explanation...
the devs really love to include memes and puns with the namingš
Ordinary chinese text are difficult enough to translate into English....
Puns are on a whole other level
its difficult to make the translations because if its translated directly its weird so te best they can do is to remain the pronunciation, gotta need a lot of researching if non-chinese want to know about the meaning behind
I think if I didn't know Chinese, it might take a longer time for me to realize that something's off... that I'm missing a lot of meaning...
Knowing Chinese, it didn't take long for me to realize that we're missing boatloads of meaning here, in the English version
I gotta say tho.. the devs had a really difficult job to localize this game into English.. and they seem to be managing okay
They still need to fix the names of the various skills and effects..
Same here! but they are actually doing decent job in localizing considering that some of the speech formalities and stuff are in ancient chinese(? idk the word for it), and you can see that they're trying their best to optimize them
For sure. Not an easy job.
oh yea... the ancient chinese!!!
ęčØę...
Many of the letters in the game were written in the ancient style...
Many of the descriptions on the boundary stones in the map also had ancient writing styles in them
It made it difficult to comprehend in Chinese, if your Chinese proficiency isn't good enough.
But the minute you switch to English text, and if you understand English, it is instantly simplified
I guess it would be incredibly difficult to translate the ancient chinese style into a similar style in english without it sounding... Shakespearish? Even then, I don't think it would be sufficient... or even appropriate..
My friend, whose ęčØę was pretty good, was surprised that the devs did this... she said some of the words didn't have to be written in this way... some were unnecessary...
it got to the point where it seemed a little forced.
I guess they were really trying very hard to make it immersive for the chinese audience, to bring them back to the early Song-era
This later jin the one who give yanyun to khitan?
Hello everyone!
Yep
Why big zhou name his dynasty "song", not zhou dynasty. Where the term song come from?
exactly! transalating it to normal chinese is not easy too
i think after all it's fiction and i'd like to think its the devs style in writing
Name of the Chinese dynasty often come from different things than the family name of the emperor.
Big Zhao was originally the military governor of Song Prefecture.
So he named this dynasty Song.
Honestly, Zhu Yu and A'Yu got me confused for a good moment, bc I skipped some text and then though "oh, A'yu is just a cute form of Zhu Yu's name... so she turned into a fish, huh, interesting", which was a funny concept for a while
And the pronouns in many stories.... Feng Ruzhi and ||girls under Dao Lord masks|| turn male into some texts, and that's just the ones I can point out
Can someone explain what happen in bodhi sea?
you uncovered ye wanshanās inner turmoils and guilt and fought what is essentially his inner demons for him
What with the drumming thing?
Guys i need clan
its been a long time so I donāt remember in the context of the quest, but drumming had two purposes in ancient china
one was war drumming
the other was signalling for injustice iirc (usually like a complaint against current court or something, reserved for something very serious)
i think in this case its mostly war drum
but i also think there could be a layer of dual meaning in there too when you consider the injustice that was done to the village by ye wanshan
Wait didnt ye defending bodhi sea from khitans force
not bodhi sea, he was stationed further north I believe it was?
he defended from khitan invasion but lost and had to retreat
during that loss ā he was forced to make a decision between his family (captured by khitan as hostage) or open the city gates to let khitan plumage and do as they please
he sacrificed his family and kept the gates closed but khitan forces were too much anyway and they lost the city too
so ye wanshan retreated with his soldiers back to another village and waited for the court to order military action to retake the north so he could get revenge and also reclaim that city
with chai rong they were supposed to finally go up north and take it back, but the plan got delayed and eventually cancelled for now because of chai rongās death and the āsouth first, north afterā plan
so ye wanshan had his troops disguise themselves as khitan and slaughtered the village they were at, to make it see like khitans invaded and force the court to order a counter attack
Guys did you all complete the new quest gambit beneath the shimmer, I understood until the end there, why we tryna kill the shimmer I don't get it
what we see at bodhi sea is basically the manifestation of the guilt from Yeās soldiers over what they did, and for the boss itās a manifestation of his obsession with revenge
highly recommended to check out this channel, its CN but has english subtitles which explains a lot too https:// youtube.com/channel/UClLkfmUFgRtERP66xkcVLnw?si=n1FvB8WCChJ4FDNO
including a video on ye wanshan
Guys what store part u liked the most
Damnnnnn, what a sad tale
Yeah itās a tragedy š but he also definitely went too far
which makes the tale sadder š
Yeah, so bodhi sea is the village he slaughtered?
Or it just empty land
Iām not sure, Tian Ying as Miao Shan told Ye to cross the bodhi sea to move on, so I think itās just empty land but I could be wrong or forgot some details
And at the end the court go counter attack or not?
They have plans to, just not now because its too costly and risky to go north
song wants to conquer south first because its a weaker (in terms of military) but wealthier country with lots of rich resources. If they take over south itād provide them a lot of support for the military expedition north
(do the winter gambit(?) quest to see them discuss this)
Yea before winter gambit it talk about it but it is in the form of an encounter quest that happen at night hours at golden quarter of kaifeng
Remember in story big Zhao invite u to go to Zhao manor for bbq?
That's the encounter.
What country is in Song's south? Is it jiangnan?
yup!
At least let us visit Jiangnan first to sightseeing and know our origin before they wage a warš¤£
so we basically became the gold leaf warrior of this time, these series of quests was peak
will mercyheart town be revisited in the future? i so wanna save the village
i swear if they release jiangnan i'll be building one of those tanks
Jiangnan isn't a country. It is a region whose borders change over time, depending on the government and what they think is Jiangnan.
Jiangnan in Chinese is ę±å.
ę± = River
å = South
So Jiangnan usually represents a geographical concept of the lands that are south of the Yangtze river (éæę± or ę¬åę±ļ¼
During the Tang Dynasty (the dynasty that Li Zuo was the last Emperor of), Jiangnan was the name of an administrative subdivision called ę±åé or Jiangnan Circuit
During the Song Dynasty (Big Zhao's dynasty, though that's after Song conquered the south) they changed it to ę±åč·Æ or Jiangnan Route
but in this case right now jiangnan does refer to an area under the rule of a figure
It was Southern Tang but the then southern tang emperor gave up his title and became āking of Jiangnanā after losing to chai rong
Later Zhou correspondence called Li Jing the "King of Jiangnan" (ę±ååäø»)
Li Yu created a more modest "Seal of Jiangnan" (ę±ååå°) and abandoned "Ruler of Tang" in favor of "Ruler of the State of Jiangnan"
Actually he did not. Later Zhou refered to them as the king of Jiangnan, but internally they still refered to themselves as Tang.
It was Li Yu, the Shimmer of the South, that made the transition to Jiangnan nomenclature
ooouh I didnāt know that, tytyyy
From the perspective of the Later Zhou and then Song, they have never wanted to address Li Jing and Li Yu's territory as Tang (Southern Tang) because that would mean that they acknowledge and accept the Li family's Tang legacy.
Later Zhou and Song would always deny Southern Tang's claim to being Tang's remnants
So from the northern perspective, Southern Tang had been Jiangnan
Which makes sense since that was the old administrative names of the region which most people during the time was used to.
But Southern Tang wouldn't refer to themselves as the Empire of Jiangnan or Kingdom of Jiangnan, until much later, and by that time, it was more like succumbing to the pressure from Song, than actually willingly changing the name of the polity as Jiangnan
So if you asked Chai Rong, he would call Southern Tang the land of Jiangnan.. but if you asked Li Jing, he would call his land the Tang
Li Yu, after his father Li Jing's death, succumbed to Song pressure and gave up his Tang titles and called himself the Ruler of Jiangnan
This doesn't necessarily mean that Jiangnan was a country. For most of Southern Tang's history, it called itself Tang and remained that way. Jiangnan was not the official name it gave itself. Later Zhou and Song calls them Jiangnan but that doesn't mean that Southern Tang accepts that label. The official polity was Tang
It did exist as a vassal state under Song later on, but by that time, I don't think Li Yu's lands have much sovereignty any more...
You could hardly call it a country by then, I think.
So, kind of similar to Georgia naming situation, if someone with european history background wants a tldr
I guess if you want to call Jiangnan a country, you could... but in reality it was like a very submissive vassal state to the Song Empire
kinda like what Korea or Vietnam was except that Jiangnan was in China proper..
It functioned like a country, so if you really wanted to you could call it a country i guess
I think you are over-autisming the situation. The people just asked if the Jiangnan referred in the game is the state in the south
That's kinda rude. š I'm expressing my own opinions..
The game tends to go into political detail of situations, so explaining historic source for the plot is par for the course
You are getting way over-specific over a matter of political nomenclature that has little to do with the game lore or the initial question.
Just take it easy
Don't like ā don't read
I'm actually taking it easy. Writing leisurely about what I think about the politics of the game and the historical backdrop. If you don't like what I write. Don't read it.
Some people are here for pop.history lesson
But I do apologise if I write too much about history and if it offends anybody or if anybody's bothered by what I write.
You write in interesting manner about interesting topics, they're just being rude
Thanks. I'm glad you find it interesting!
I just love history and the lore and I am learning a lot as I dive deeper into the historical backdrop of the game too.
slowmode š
I'm so happy they're using real-life names of historic figures/events/locations, so it's possible to just go and Google stuff without deciphering what they actually were inspired by (ahem, Game of Thrones)
Me too. I was streaming the game with my friend and because she is a history buff and also a native of the area around Southern Tang, she was helping me with a lot of the local lore and customs that she saw in the game
That must be so cool for locals to play/watch and see familiar-ish places, and local history in game world, etc
I can see why this game is so popular in China right now, and has so many millions of players. It touches on a part of Chinese history that isn't often used as a setting in games because many game studios focus on the Three Kingdoms period.
Haha I remember we were looking at the map, and she saw Qinghe, and she was so excited that the game features this area.
It's a very popular and well-known area in China
And when we first played, we were surprised at how close they pulled the various geographical points of interest closer to each other..
On one hand, I have semester starting, on other hand I'm so tempted to switch my game to Chinese and just go through it with fine comb, dictionary and google
Haha you can do that during the long wait for the next main story quest
Mb, mb
I think I'm going to 100% everything in English, so I can stop running around and just sit back and do the reading for compendium, journal, experiences etc
Is the in game building grand canal also the current grand canal in china?
If i'm not wrong, it generally refers to the same grand canal that is often used by various dynasties to transport grain and goods between north and south china. but the actual geographic location and how it looks varies across the thousands of years of repair, expansion, or it changes when the yellow river changes its course.
But I could be wrong. Because Kaifeng isn't near to northsouth axis of the main route of the grand canal.
are you talking about this area south of Kaifeng in the game?
If you're asking about this area, and what they are digging, then no, this is not the grand canal
In this area, they are reworking the area where the ancient Honggou (grand gap) used to be
The Honggou éøæę² was also an artificial canal, not a natural river.
Oh I see the confusion now. I switched to English text and saw that they used the words "Grand Canal" to describe the Honggou...
@sudden shard the grand canal you're thinking of, is not this one. This is a more ancient canal that existed even during the Spring and Autumn Warring States era of China.
You can see that in the Chinese version, they are actually talking about the Honggou éøæę², which is pretty grand... and is a canal.. so.... i guess they just decided to call it the Grand Canal.. but not the Grand Canal further east that was more popular.
Many thanks for the explanation š
I dont get it did they just all die during the attack on heavens pier?
Not everyone. A lot of ppl did. Notably ruby and killer blade tho as far as story goes
Did aunt han die or nah
Nah she dipped somewhere. The rest of the story youāre partly tryna find her in the jianghu
Idk if she was found even on the CN server but so far sheās alive supposedly
She coulda fought ngl its on her if most died
Sheās def alive from what I recall. You run into ppl that know her in Kaifeng and if I remember right one even said they may know where she is or possibly saw her
But ruby def dead rip
Is the story complete or it will be in future updates
No where near complete
I feel bad lol i said "can we slime out the girl" in main chat before
So this game is the global version. China has had it out for over 1 year. And have I think 3-4 more regions than we do
Thereās loads more content to come
Is the story still long rn?
Yeah china just recently got a new area and weapons
Idk much about the story on their end tho since I donāt wanna spoil too much
I mean for global regions is the story still long even if far from complete
Ohhhh, yeah itās got a good amount of content. If you donāt skip any cutscenes
But you def can finish it fairly quick
āCatch upā is more accurate
