So purely speculation on my side, but it could be that the writers wrote the battle beginning a year earlier than it did irl — so by the time the battle ends, Wang Qing dies, and Jiang Yan finds the young master, it’s 946CE, making it a clean 16 years prior to 962CE.

There are some conditions to activate it, iirc she only shows up during night time, and encouters have a cooldown to activate if you fail to meet the conditions
