Anytime and If you have any more questions bro just dm me or ask them in #🌱beginner-questions
Odyssey is too fantastical to be a magical realism but.. I guess it flies it's just both
alr tysm
I can't make a sound judgement regarding Iliad and Odyssey in particular. as I don't remember the content well.
Magical Realism isn't about how fantastical things are.
There's god's involved but also it takes place in Greece it's both at this point
An epic and magical realism more so
Magical unrealism
I know that much, brother.
Magical Realism is not a genre, but a style of narration.
Aight but I am mentioning things that are both historical and mythological. Wwm is magical realism rn but does it get into mythology if gods get involved (like the Illiad where the battle and the city is generally considered to have historically happened but the work is considered mythological because of the inclusion of gods and nymphs and such)
Imagine you meeting a talking dog and going on an adventure with it. Magical Realism would not pay attention to the fact that dog is talking and focus entirely on adventure.
On god I'd love to meet a talking dog
In Where Winds Meet, people flying across the sky and running at cheetah's speed continuously with lightness skills is a normal occurrence that doesn't get much attention from narration, thus WWM is magical realism
Gotta dip though thanks for the yaps folks 🤝🤝
Would wwm no longer be magical realism from the perspective of say granny turtle instead of someone born in the jianghu
Omg I didn't know how much I needed that until you said it. Imagine a gardener little boy becoming a darksouls boss, suddenly getting a big ahh scythe
Bye!! Have a good day
All I can say is that when it comes to eastern lore I just don't really take it too rigidly.
or old man. But we fight a lot of old people
yeah
When will fromsoft let us beat kids up like wwm does
Knock knock whose there..
Jiang.
Jiang-who?
Jianghu
Gotta love wwm
Please dm every player you see and say this joke
Demand a like too
This is the same energy as, oh yeah name every wind youve already meet
Bro if someone acts as random as that I'd give them 5
smh
Yeah, Fun is the most important
bro clearly wait for an openning to say that, but unfortunately
he needs to put it before logging out
When a community is riddled with "Play this, do this, this is meta, this is better, not playing on legends?" Kind of players the community gets a bad rep
Play with lvl 1 untuned weapons only and no armor on hardcore or else you aren’t actually playing the game smh /s
exactly like wtf 😒😒
Tian ying obviously isn’t playing the game properly because he uses summons. Heavy attack with nameless sword only or else you are just playing on easy mode. Magic is easy mode so no healing or skills either. /s
I'm playing on legend to relive a bit of the story on another account, no death's yet, it isn't really that hard, the enemies are tankier and hit harder but deflect is so easy to time it does not matter, so play it the way you want, my advice tho is turn off deflect assist(unless you have shih amounts of lag) so you get used to the timing when it comes co-op time
If the discussion is no longer about lore
Please move the discussion to somewhere else
Sorry about that, it just became like that suddenly, thank you
so as we are talking earlier, aside from jiangshi, any zombie theme creature in easter folk? 😉
I’m actually pretty decent at bosses now because I coop assist others a lot (as healer so my host can still get joy of the kill) but thanks anyways time to change topics. No point in moving this to the pve channels to rain on their parade. Back onto it we have hallucinations
Playing it slowly, you get to absorb more of the lore like the Grave of Han's brother
Hmmm hungry ghosts are kinda mindless do they count
ahhh yeah, i forgot
A lot of undead in wuxia manhua lore, but Jiangshi really is the main one
i mostly see buddhist in the game, not taoist
Yeah, but we'll see it soon I think? I mean a bear knows Tai Chi
Surely taoism is in the game or something
yeah, ig there's still chance for a major updates, there's still a sect not introduce right? i really want my char to play weaponless, shouldn't they add purely martial arts
Sleeping daoist
In the still shore campaign you can see side notes of Someone maybe aunt Han when you were copying the techniques, The nameless sword art is also there and it is noted there "this can be used to make fun of Jiang" or something
Soon
Fists
speaking of lore, yeah, should be slowly, too much exploration and staying further from the msq fried my brain
Taoism is in the game, yes.
move it to spoiler section so you'll not get flagged.... lol
Some of Kaifengs side stories hit me deep gawd damn
The one that hit me the most was when the young master said "where, where meets wind." And started karate all over the bad dudes
is there a comic series for this game? they made the story so good
afaik the game does not have a comic series.
Big Zhao btw
I am really wondering about the Jinming-Pool Kampagne, for me it doesnt make any sense why Murong Yuan acted like she acted 😄
||why did she ask our character first to get those documents and than suddenly she is on the ship and wants to kill our character (who is only there because she asked him to be there?!) ähhhh?? dont get it||
maybe someone can explain this plot to me, I really dont get it xD
One Leaf, One Life lookin' ahh ;_;
Exactly that one! End of chapter 2 made me tear up almost lol
Peak questline, if I do say so myself. Showing struggles of normal people.
The side quests with the dude having a coming of age party hit or making granny smile or Aran dawg ugh
Agreed it's such a beautiful story, doesn't only show the magical place of the city
all that suffering because of mongol invasion 15 years prior.
Murong Yan basically believes she is doing the right thing for murong Yan there is no muright or murong
rofl 😄
Yeah that one too my god I started smiling when they said the granny was happy
Wuxia be like that blissful retreat was the tip of the ice berg
It was.
I thought it might be a translation problem, but.. there is no logical reason behind it?
Ok, question: Whowere exactly the Hanging Blades? Some good guys from Tang?
actually there is :x check #📺media ill send
Anyone know how to clear the quest "Fulfill promise to Bai Rong" ?
I saw it, thank you so much.
||I didnt know that she caputred Murong Yunshao inside the ship (one thing I was wondering) and second I forgot that not she but Zhao asked our char to steal the blueprints||
||but it makes sense when she thought that he is the cause of her fathers dead. Li Yun was the one who burned himself, right?||
for her what shes doing is not murong but muright remember this jiangwho wanderer
now name every wind youve met
do you have similar reddit post about Tian Ying?

||Slight bug(?) but if you do the bird lady quests before the main quest, she comes back||
Only for the cutscene though
ah okay, thank you
boi ill do you even better i have a youtube video
hahaha 😄 great
btw will we be able to go into the palace in kaifeng one day?
Guys, how to trigger the encounter " Where souls returns"?
are we really gonna reach xianxia levels years from now?
version 1.0 have this level beyond mortals... maybe in v5.0 we gonna be xianxia
What're folks' favorite Encounters so far? Putting a little list of them together for a thing.
Q: When Aunt Han disappeared, didnt she disappear with someone named Tian? Or what was his name?
You're probably thinking of Unfated Tian. I don't know if we were told they left together, just that he isn't hanging around the clinic nearly as much.
Didnt she go to the clinic to visit him? And therefore the theory. But Unfated Tian and Tian Ying are two different people then?
Tian Ying ||only has three faces, the priest, the warrior, and the assassin|| I don't believe any mention is made to them being the same person. Unfated Tian did work with Aunt Han ||in the facial replacement plot in Still Shore. She changed the faces, he helped with the medical recovery.||
Thanks!
Any time. Tryin' to brush up on my lore to put some things out for it.
Tian Ying is uh, not the first thing to tackle there. Man's got a lot going on.
Yeah I figured, 1 minute I am defeatng him in an instance and the other someone is searching for him and he is a kind hero 😂
If you want the full context you need to do a good half of the encounters and wandering tales in Qinghe honestly.
Interesting! I love the story telling in this game so I am sure it wont disappoint!
Oh absolutely. I'm trying to get together a little 5-6 minute video on just one encounter. There's good stuff here.
Cant wait for upcoming chapters of the mainstory 🥺
I'm actually not up to date on the Kaifeng story yet. 90% Qinghe exploration tho
Can anyone explain the very beginning of the plot? I just started and I’m not sure whats happening🥲 why is everyone calling me young master and what am I trying to achieve..
yeh i think side quests assume main quest is done
they should definitely add dependencies to it
Youn Master is just a Wuxia-Term for someone who has the goal to be stronger and master the martial-arts
The people in Blessing Retreat and Heavens Blessing already know you and that's why most of them call you by that name
For the second question;
At the very beginning, you are trying to start your own journey and also find Uncle Jiang, the guy from the cover and the one who trained you for a bit. You see him as your master and you want to know where he is
After the first chapter, you also now want to find where Aunt Han is
You get a letter which motivates the MC to go to Kaifeng and find more information about Aunt Han's current location or what she is planning
in popular meme young master is the bully who use their status and money to bully the MC
but by itself it just means you are the heir
btw does anyone know how the name “where wind meet” connects to the lore?
||The story is so damn confusing, so basically these 3 girls ran the underground market and tortured other children + had slaves that slept with men etc? Wtf is this kinda twist ||
Unbound cavern is different from Ghost market I think
My own opinion on that is that the whole "Find your own home/journey" indirectly is connected to Where Winds Meet, which might be mean "Go where the winds meet"
But that's my own interpretation on it
Here is however a great explanation abt the chinese-meaning of the game
Looks like Jiang Yan to me

Don't you think so too? The color and all the meaning swallow is also associated by our MC to Jiang because of the character Yan, so Jiang is the mascot?
the colors are indeed a bit similar
yeh i know the chinese ver is closely linked to the story, which makes me wonder what the english name means
We finally found Unc, he just got turned into a bird by the devs🤣jk
Maybe what the devs meant with the title where winds meet is go where the winds leads you to, and then when the wind urges you to move on to a new place you do so, because where winds meet is different from the chinese title, or maybe it doesn't have that much meaning and they just wanted a title that rhymes
Like "Final Fantasy" which we know is never final
the human market was lord shi's thing xd the nine mortal ways p much are cracking down on it
so maybe just a random catchy name
Do the things for odities spawn back?
and the nine mortal ways leads for the ghost market is the dao lord
|| why did uncle jian kill that general? like did he even actually kill him? why did the general try to lure the blind guy away? how did the general die twice like he's sekiro 💀 ||
istg some times lore in this game is very confusing
exactly
||we fought enemies that died twice there are 2 which is Dalang and Void king||
||essentially (if I understood correctly) the box that was delivered to the general contained the gu insect that turns people into puppets. This killed him once. Jiang Yan then killed him after he turned, which is what He Ran (the blind guy) saw||
dream puppet gu
I think the Dao put on a public image that it was the guardian of the ghost market which is separate entity from the underground market (slave)
i just finished the gold leaf quest chain, at the end when u eavesdrop on the blind girl talking to her dad is it actually her dad having returned or they tricked her once more
i skipped some parts so i have couple of questions :
||is aunt han heartseeker ?
-that blonde woman who appeared during the festivals with the dancers is yingying ?||
afaik the heartseeker is aunt han's inner demon or something
in the compedium heartseeker and qianye share same model is it a bug or
nvm i just read her lore she shapeshifting or something
I love this game so much
to my knowledge || heartseeker stole aunt Han's face as a tactic to confuse and manipulate MC||
Yes yingying is ember of the east
also the guy in the intro who died to save jiang is it wang qing or someone else ?
He didnt die. Wang qing is jiang’s adoptive father
i think hes talking about the one who took a blade to the heard
yes the guy who took a hit while jiang was in a vision
Yeah he didnt die. Wang qing the general is already dead
Chen sthing
Since when
sicne the ||emperor appeared dressed in gold at the end of the kaifeng story quest||
Holy what, did I go full idiot and miss it
yah no took me a while to click
explains how ||he knows so much and has influences with the Zhao dude we pointed the sword at when we were rescuing ember of east at the end of the quest||
Anybody know where I can find Xan Xiangxun's final bio entry? she's stuck on 87% and I need 100 to finish an achievement, or do we run into her/any info of her in kaifeng? (ive already beat the rich guy) so unless it's later-on?
Who is the emperor currently in kaifeng story? I know he’s big zhao but what his rank name?
Maybe knowing the emperor name will let me google and search china in depth history

Heaven pier, harvest fall and blissful retreat are the only 3 places you can get 100% aunt han. I know this because i 100% her when i was at harvestfall
Zhao kuangyin
Thank you!
do you know if its possible after the fire? the entry i need seems to be the old tales at heavens pier or something, currently running around checking every house and clickable npc xD
Oh. Then you need to access the yidao sabre on the floor near the wine tower
the last clue for her is in the dream place?
I think so? I didn’t go there when i had 100%
is there any lore explanation for that?
|| but didnt he ran give him the box? who gave the box to he ran? ||
Yes bro, spoiler tho if you haven't done gleaming abyss, but in the prologue you see a puppet bug being controlled by someone
aaaaaaaaaaaaah
i get it now
Pretty easy to miss a few details in the game
finished one leaf one life 🥹
Is WWM considered historical fantasy?
yes and no. no bc a lot of it is history-based, but the jianghu actually existed at some point (many texts and old history books suggested evidences of martial sects). yes bc of all the bosses and magic in game. i say 30% fantasy.
Just wanted to make sure since some things I see I've realized are just illusions like the 2nd phase of the witch boss
oh yeah thats definitely fantasy
I see I see
put on the golden leaf if you've finished it : )
I just now finished the quest. Omg I'm more depressed. I'm never taking this bracelet off
it was a tombstone in blissful retreat near the little spoon looking part of the area (path then circle shape) for if anybody else gets her stuck on 87%
The General was infected with puppet poison, so uncle Jain had to kill him to prevent him from beocming zombie
||Right. Those three are posing as Dao Lord, which is the leader/figurehead/veteran members of Nine Mortal Ways sect. The sect are kinda-but-not-really manage the Ghost Market and are the Robin Hood; The "Noble thieves", so to speak. If you get kidnapped in Qinghe you almost got trafficked (assumed to be to Unbound Cavern) but the Nine Mortal Ways rescued you by performing bait n switch and ended up in the Ghost Market instead. Ghost Market does not participate in human trade, just illegal and pirated goods.||
||The whole sect is practically the nemesis of Unbound Cavern, it just happens to be that since both of them are "illegal underground market in caves" in Kaifeng, those two spot are linked through that underwater lake that probably no regular mortals can pass. The kids just happen to know a hidden passageway to access the ghost market from the cavern.||
a gang with a noble heart ahh 😭
man's spreading propaganda to kids 🤣
||The blind guy was told to carry a box to the general, deceived into thinking that the box is critical to their victory. In truth, that box actually contains the zombie-poison insect that causes people to revive and go berserk. This is why the blind man had that manic episode during the quest. He is the actual cause of his death.||
||The general died and revived into the berserk zombie (his first death), but through sheer willpower he managed to regain control of himself briefly, and told Jiang about what happened and asked him to kill him before he lose control. Jiang obliged (his second death). After what he did the aureate spread the news that Jiang betrayed his own father, and thus the intro in the game, where Jiang is being hunted for killing his own father-general.||
Do you work for the FBI on the epstein files?
lmao no. If anything I honestly would love for anyone that have more information to add more contexts or correct me. I love the lore dearly, but due to language barrier and cultural context I feel like I'm still missing out a lot.
From what we know there was a dream puppet calamity but when did that happened again
Like did we had a solid timeline
From what I know, the dream puppet all started from the last emperor of Tang Period
I have watched some really good videos on the lore and a lot of what they said it is hard for us westerners to fully understand because so much of this is ingrained in their history.. so I think the translations must in some ways be dumbed down in a sense so that we kind of get the jist of it
I just remembered the Unbound Cavern was made to be a safe space for outcast
But their founder got his parents killed because of the nine mortal ways
He vowed to wipe that sect off and died to the same monsters he accepeted 😭
16 years before the game, so when you are a baby at the start
as for heartseeker she is an npc - a hero who tells you about the demon goose before you even get to blissful retreat, though it may or may not already be qianye here
I'm not clear on this one either but on the the very first part of MC story in bamboo hut we see a hidden letter to uncle Jiang which asks him for help, which is the reason why he left. The letter mentioned the "return of dream puppet calamity", so this had happened before, but I have no idea when.
||The Tang emperor did go to the... I forgot the name. Was it Mistveil cave? And there he found his long thought-to-be-dead lover. This is the beginning of the current "dream puppet calamity", where the emperor practices immortality and experiments with living humans to achieve it. The result of this research is the dream puppet, and the invention of that zombie insect.||
ohh they don't allow youtube links
Where Winds Meet Story – Lore of Blissful Retreat-
Williamsweeb
I would love more lore videos that I can listen to while doing other things, or falling asleep to ❤️
there are two caves - the sleeping lunar goddess one is one cave, and then the one where the void king is found is the gleaming abyss which is the one you are referring to
that's why the void king is there, he's looking after his boss' exes' remains and trying to regain favour
The Emperor of Tang Ai, Li Zuo , was not poisoned to death by Zhu Wen as recorded in official history. The one who drank the poison was Liu Qingyi, Li Zuo 's confidant, but she did not die because of her special body. Sun Buqi, the poison master, valued her constitution and took her to Yingyuan to conduct an immortality experiment, creating Meng Kui, which caused trouble everywhere. Li Zuo pursued Meng Kui's whereabouts to Yingyuan, inherited Sun Buqi's research, and plotted to use Meng Kui to build a perfect ideal country. Later, he went to Southern Tang, established the assassin organization Aureate Pavilion, and became the emperor in the dark. Aureate Pavilion wanted to seize Jiang Yan's Zhenguan Jue, Tian Ying's head, and Aunt Han's spy list, thus infiltrating the entire Qinghe.
The Later Jin general Wang Qing was defeated in the Battle of Zhongdu Bridge by the Khitans and Meng Kui. His adopted son, Jiang Yan, brought a mysterious child to break through the siege, took refuge in Qinghe, raised the child with Han Xiangxun, and taught him the Wuming Sword Technique. Jiang Yan then received a letter, went to Nantang to rescue Tianying, and disappeared from there.
The baby grew up under Aunt Hans care, was called Yong Master by the locals,, had a younger sister named Ruby, and became friends with the great hero Yi Dao. He/she and Yi Dao promised to go to Kaifeng together after the opening party. But on the last night the assassiation happened , set up a maze, and massacred miserably. To save everyone,Ruby went up the mountain to show the way and was shot dead by Qianye. Yi Dao also died at Qianye’s hands to protect Yong Master. The place turned to ashes, Aunt Han disappeared, Young Master” from then on was calledYoung Wanderer, and had to make the trip to Kaifeng alone.
I think the main times to remember is that the main puppet calamity and military loss was 16 years ago, and then 3 years ago was some other drama mostly involving tian ying it seems, and apparently also further research into puppets by both the snake doc and someone else independently
Yeah, true. I'm not western, I'm.. southeastern. lol. But yeah that is not important, we are indeed missing a lot of cultural contexts. It's fine though, It's also part of the reason why I love the lore so much. I think the biggest problem though is that there are a lot of stuffs that non chinese will not get due to few things that are very obvious for chinese players are not informed to us.
||The most egregious of this is Big Zhao. Almost every chinese players can immediately tell that Big Zhao is the emperor of Song dynasty. I couldn't and funnily enough, realized who he is after getting curious about song dynasty and the real history in China when the game took place and went to wikipedia. The face in the game is exactly the same lmao.||
i completed all main quest and level maxed out, will new story come out?
no there's no more you finished it all, congrats
lmao. It will come, might take some time though. No defined date at the moment.
my question is who fought and destroyed the peace bell tower at moonveil peak? it said it was two lovers because of how hard they went at it and it happened 3 years ago
We will have more, new areas and the rest of Kaifeng
ouuu
when voice chat will open???
Did both Yi dao and Aunt Han die ?
Nope, Aunt Han still alive.
But how did Yi dao die?
Qianye killed him when he tried to save us 😢
like a true chad
Skill issue lol
Oh that is okay north, south east, or west, when one has a heart for lore and history then we are kindred spirits at heart.
Aunt Han is still missing where I am at in the story.
Hey, how do we know uncle jian went to save Tianyin? (solved the second question myself. aghh i keep forgetting namesssssss)
Tian Ying is Miaoshan. This was his disguise so he could assassinte Khitan's envoy. Do you remeber the opening scene of the game where Uncle Jiang receiveed a letter? That was the letter asked him to save Tian ying
I can't beat Tian Ying.. but the time I get to the 3rd fight I am to tired
The Buddha- Thousand Village burning incident also relate to Tian ying - Miaoshan
But isnt tian ying a boss? we kill him (i havent won that fight yet lol). Why would we kill the man jian tries to save?
in the story
I hear you. It took me 5 days to beat him 😂
We get this information from a letter/book. That isn't the reason why uncle Jiang went missing atm though.
No we did not kill him. Tian Ying is still alive
Im glad I am not alone.. once those 3 sand adds pop I am toast
He used us to fake his death
huuuh??
If you unlock the final ending of Quinghe, you will understand
Yes, just try to unlock all the dark surge and you will get the ending
He's not dead. He's pretending that we won so the world at large think he's dead. I like to think he's training us lol.
tbf his fight is quite imposing - but i also felt like such a legendary figure could not be defeated so early
alright then, even more things to discover...
Basically Tian Ying needed someone to "assist" him in his fake death. And us, is the one
😂
But he still kills me for real 10x.
Lmao
I want a leader that doesn't try to trick me but fights by my side! Like Yi Dao
but then why didnt jiang do it?
me too, that man took me 5 days.😂
why not asking him in the first place
he is tricksy
Uncle Jiang is still missing and we dont know why or where he is now. And we also dont know why he came back to Quinhe to take our Jade in the opening of the game after disappearing for 3 years
WHAT??? HE STOLE IT??
where do yall learn these things t.t
We are inexperienced so he can trick us. If this was Yi Dao, He might not be success 😂
People matched up the eyes /upper face of the masked man in the jade cutscene with the opening screen of uncle Jiang lmao
go back to the bamboo hut and you get some follow-up stories
Yes the man fought in the opening was uncle Jiang. I love Chinese history so i think it helps me undertand the story lillte bit
Out here with real detective work
Everyone is taking advantage of our inexperience left and right
i did the quests at the bamboo hut i think ("her legacy" and the He Ran one?). The idea that he might be the thief crossed my mind because they looked similar but i brushed it off.
We were 16 in the game so 😂
Jiang didnt just rescue him just now. That happened some time ago. I think few years? He's doing his things after that. Lore wise I believe after we collected the two jades and opened the temple is the moment he decided to utilize us and play dead, to continue his old mission with a brand new way, so to speak.
Those two jades are impossible to unite. Its meant to be open only when his mission was succesful. He sorta-kinda failed, and all his plan unraveled spectacularly and the jades are stored by people that will never work together. Us uniting the jade and opening it I suppose is a wake up call for him.
im just so lost. im trying my best to piece stuff together but between lacking chinese knowledge and the bad localization it feels hopeless
I find that I cry a lot with so much of this lore and story in the game. I know life is tragedy mixed with moments of love, and fellowship.. but I didn't know I have so many tears
Every time granny turtle appears on screen my eyes starts tearing up
dw i get confused too with how the story is going into kaifeng xd
The game was made for Chinsese who already know the history. But when it comes to player in other countries, it gets confusing.
afaik Tian Ying's plan was to stop the alliance between the khitans and the new Tang, right? that is why he asked the water goddess to slaughter the qinghe assassins that were trying to kill the khitan envoy
what am i missing after that?
Where Winds Meet Story – Lore of Blissful Retreat- Williamsweeb
@Williamsweeb on youtube. I found it was easy to folllow and nicely laid out
You got it right. Tian ying (TY) wanted to kill the Khitan envoy in Northen Tang soil so their alliance will be invalid
correct. He had to make it happen on Tang's ground, so the alliance will forever be shattered. They're supposed to assassinate him together. But the goddess first died because people think that she is defending the khitan.
yeah for sure. But it is making me more interested in this history of china
a bit saddened that most great stories are told using AI voices on youtube
Yes. The Chinese history is beautiful. I read about their 5000 year of history and it's really interesting
but I suppose it's better than hearing people explaining "Qinghe" story and calling it "Kimchi story"
alright, so this part succeeded right?
when do the jade fragments come into play?
Now this is a long story
I avoid those kinds. there is a woman I think her accent is chinese and she does some in-depth lore videos too
I’ll be honestly other than knowing some basic mythology and maybe big Zhao’s and the last tang emperor’s name idk how much more Chinese players know. A lot of people like tian ying and uncle Jiang are fictional and this game plays fast and loose with timelines (paper money wouldn’t come into being for another century, for example)
Gotta keep in mind most people even in china covered song dynasty in like 10th grade history and never touched it again 😂
I did the palace of annals story - but now all is so mixed up in my head ahaha
Tian Ying founded the Hangign Blade with the old emperor (Rhezong? i lost the name. damn.)
i know a lot
a lot of the side stuff like interacting with tombs and stuff explain some of what you mentioned
ask me a lore question @jaunty coyote
ok I can tell you a story about this but I'll have to shorten it massively. Might need to watch YT for the details
Maybe I just failed my history classes 😭 I represent the ‘I dozed off in history class’ population
and i think this is where the jade shows up?
so, the blind girl's dad from the golden leaf quest chain father wasnt dead eh?
its okay me too but fr ask me a lore question
Uhhhhh why is the tang emperor not old af
im so mad cause i literally did this quest two days ago and i am confused again ghhhh
Actually I’m still curious about the ember of the east thing. So she had a brother? I feel like I know there was a power struggle back home but the brother part flew over my head while playing
Never figured out how she lost her powers too
wdym brother the ember of the east is one person
And is the black hair a wig or is it a cultivation thing
the country tossed her out cause she wasnt insane enough
@timber nebula does the ember of the east come into the story again?
i think hes saying that the ember had a brother
not that the ember is 2 persons
Idkkkkk 😭 some people here yesterday said she got kicked out because her brother won a power struggle back home and I was so confused
Since I thought she was power struggling with lord shi
But then why is lord shi here?
nah lord shi is an aureate pavillion spy
In 946, after the defeat in the battle of Zhongdu Bridge, the Khitan army took advantage of the victory to invade the South, and Dingzhou was the first to suffer the blow.
The wife and children of the general guarding the city, Ye Wanshan, were captured by the Khitan army. The enemy threatened him to open the city gate, but he still resolutely refused to surrender. Even though his family was destroyed and his family was scattered, he still tried his best to defend the city to the death, but Dingzhou still fell in the end.
After the city fell, Ye Wanshan could only retreat to a small city and hide, waiting for the main army of the imperial court to advance to the North. This wait lasted for 13 years, 13 years of living in a nightmare day and night.
In 959, Ye Wanshan heard that the Northern Expedition was abandoned halfway, and he lost all reason. He insisted that the imperial court was so afraid of the Khitans that it did not dare to continue advancing northward, and even ordered the Army under his command to impersonate the Khitans and massacre all the people he had protected.
He wanted to use the blood of the common people in a city to force the imperial court to restart the Northern Expedition. That night, the entire small city turned into a slaughterhouse. The common people died tragically, and even the soldiers like Tianhu Army who participated in the massacre lived in endless nightmares from then on.
the original one got offed and was for the people like the emperor
After the incident, Tianying, under the name of Miaoshan, and his disciples built a Sinful Tower deep inside the Bohdi Sea.
He let Ye Wanshan lead more than a hundred elite Tianhu Army soldiers who had participated in the massacre to the Yongfu Zen Monastery deep inside the Sea of Karma to meditate and atone for their sins. Outside the tower, the sound of bells and drums rang out day and night, and people chained themselves with iron chains, hoping to use the sound of meditation to wash away all the karma in their hearts.
In order to keep the secret of the Buddha Light, Tian Ying found a way to store the Buddha Light Jade. He ordered Yang Daoxin of Cixin Town to split the Buddha Light Jade in half. He lent half of the Jade Yin Carving to Ye Wanshan, saying that this jade could calm his mind and help him return to the battlefield soon. But in reality, it was an implication that the Northern Expedition still had hope. As for the other half of the Jade Yang Carving, he hid it carefully in the dragon head at the bottom of the Hidden Dragon Abyss of the Spring and Autumn Pavilion, and told Little Seventeen to protect it carefully. Once the matter was settled, Tian Ying immediately set off for the Southern Tang to carry out the mission of assassinating the Khitan envoy.
How did she lose her cultivation if she got kicked out I thought martial arts is an innate thing
Like they can take your ability to practice medicine but they can’t yank med school from your head yanno what I mean
u mean they can take away your license not your ability, right
the very shortened story is Tian Ying built a tower that is critical to his plan (franky is never said or told why), but I have to assume if people accessed the tower they will know his identity. To enter this place people will need a jade disc. He split it into two, Yin and Yang, and gave it to two people. First is General Ye, a general with extreme hatred towards the Khitan, and second is Seventeen, who is a member his assassin clan Hanging Blade.
i havent slept but
if you go to world, then to
character, ember of the east
then the jade the black clothed guy takes from mc at the begining of the game is that jade disc?
no, i think the jade is the one we recombine, right?
no that's different. that's just a pendant
but why do we recombine it, at all?
Like... from this whole tale it seems like Tian Ying is - however trickster - on our side. Why do we fight against his plan by recombining the jade?
after this happened, he did what he did (water goddess stuffs, attempting to assassinate the envoy, etc). But every step of ways, there are complications to all of his plan
probs coz we dont know and the grown ups dont trust a 16yo to reveal secrets to
Pretty much
and tian ying doesnt say anything to us when we do it either? like he doesnt even aknowledge that we did all this?
the water goddess died, causing his assassination attempt to become harder, and he is forced to don his monk persona and kill the envoy. He is succesful, but got captured. (This is when Jiang rescued him). During his capture his assassin clan is destroyed, only seventeen is left on the ruined HQ still guarding the jade half.
she was betrayed by wen wuhen which is one of her brothers yeh @jaunty coyote but im not super sure cause im tired in the brain
From what we know in Weiyang city there is the Wen family which supposedly Wen Wuque (Yingying) belonged to
Okie get some eepies
You have passed the history lore test
no im fixing my body clock
And she lost the political struggle against Wen Wuhen who is backed by Lord Shi
General Ye became insane with rage and in an attempt to convince people to go to war against khitan, killed his own people with his soldiers after wearing khitan disguise
god of avarice that went to aureate pavillon and then got planted by aurete to turn into lord shi
lord shi before succumbing to the blade of the main character: "Lord, SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.............."
all of this happened when he was in prison. By the time he got out everything he know is basically ruined.
Yeah pretty much he met who is heavily implied to be Qianye
((mega thanks for this as well. just a minor question: what exactly is the "secret of Buddha Light?))
Is qianye basically the backup aunt Han for aureate pavilion lol. They do the same face changing thing and have the same weapon (aunt Han better tho)
and then we came, gathered all the jade and opened the tower once again. He used us to pretend that he died, ||and went to the north to continue his fight, probably under a new disguise to destroy the Khitan from within||
Is she just the jealous younger sister 😂
fun fact. lord shi's favourite poem is
Living in a stone den is a poet-scholar named Shi, addicted to pork. Having lost his official post, he vowed to eat 10 lions. The lions seemed inclined to interfere. Mr. Shi set up an office, and used his master's influence to dispatch a messenger named Shi to fetch lion corpses, awaiting his time to eat. Only upon eating did he begin to understand the ways of the world. Mr. Shi sent his envoy to the market to observe another man named Shi
aka: Shíshì shī shì shǐ shì, shì shǐ, shī shì, shì shí shí shī. Shī sì shì shī. Shǐ shì shè sì, shì shī shì, shǐ shī shì shí shī shī, shì shí shí, shǐ shí shìshì. Shǐ shǐ shì shì shì shì, shì shī shì. Shì shì shì shì.
which you can hear a child recite in game
that's basically everything
my mind is exploding ahahah thanks a lot
Is she mostly political then? I thought she’s a pretty strong cultivator as well but lost it during the struggle and I don’t get how
"Secret of Buddha Light" is most likely the secret that Tian Ying is basically the monk.
"Secret of Buddha Light" is a trick of Tian Ying, so that people will belive in his monk disguise.
tian ying survived btw waiting for his new name tian yang
I don't think she ever lost her martial skill she just got kicked by her brother who is politically stronger
man im so full of stuff to think about and i haven t reached kaifeng even
He used technique to have the light around him so people saw him as the high onw
that and you can find out if you get the secret cutscene after completing the dark surge and other exploration stuff
honestly the story in Kaifeng is significantly simpler. At least at this point
miaoshan
so don't worry about it, it won't be as confusing when you're in Kaifeng.
She still is one of the Gods of Fortune and that is implied to be more of a influence/financial backing more than a martial prowess one
In the end of the day influence and power beats martial skill
Yeah a martial artist can beat like 10 men but like the other guy can just get 20
But she lost to lord shi tho and got captured but she came back later and bodied lord shi? So I assumed she was weaker then
Or is she just lying to get in the furnace
I do think it makes sense that the really deep lore is in Qinghe since we're raised there. The stuffs in Kaifeng are mostly political (ergo, for me, is less interesting), and the jianghu stories are told much more clearly as we experience them all ourselves
which is why her mom sacrificed herself she ended up in kaifeng and was saved by granny turtle :(
Unlike in Qinghe where the story basically is saying that Tian Ying is the protagonist, not us. lol
All I know was that she set up the treasure basin we got set up to beat Shi and then everything went back to normal
Will we have a 2nd char slot so i can rewatch the entire chapter 1 and 2 stories again but equipped with better understanding that time?
Okay so, baiscally:
Tian Ying is against the Khitans and the attempt by the new Tang to ally with them.
He uses various nefarious means to ensure this alliance never happens, but his plans are always full of complications.
We give him a fake death so he can assume a new identity and resume his battle.
Now - how does the aureate pavillion relate to this? They chased us (and mostly auntie Han) to get the ledger with the names of those who infiltrated the khitans and kill them --> this makes me think that the aureate pavillion is with the new Tang too? so against Tian Ying?
maybe the reason tian ying needed to be presumed dead was to avoid qianye to hunt him down?
not atm, but hoping it'll come out soon
Wait did we beat shi? I thought some guy with a short ponytail beat shi and that’s why I thought it was the ember of the east
Bro, this lore confusing.
Aureate Pavillion also chase weiyang royal family so I dont think this is simple killings.
I had double buns 😭
game couldnt afford allat gang 😔
Wait so it was a pre-rendered cutscene with default hair? Or was it someone else
it was us the mc
Default character. But it is us.
ember of east was on their knees waiting for us
((also is qianye dead in the explosion?))
Hell no
idk one can hope.
I sure heckin hope so.
👀 we actually won a battle for once on our own?!?!
Indeed.
Aureate Pavilion is the one that destroyed his assassin clan (you see the aureate is storming the old remnant of their HQ and destroyed the dragon statue when you see Seventeen for the first time. Aureate is built by the last Tang emperor, so I'm sure you can see some reasons at least why.
But basically yes, he is being hunted by Aureate and his death will mean no one will chase his anymore and he can freely continue his plan.
Bigger things like bitcoin
the whole reason for the coin thing is cause the emperor was rushing things and didnt realize people were suffering. that's why BIG ZHAO came in with the BIG BRAIN
I’m so proud of us for winning fr
feels like a knot in my brain fianlly untied lol ahaha thanks
They knew people were going to suffer
Big Zhao did tell his bro ‘I told you this wouldn’t work’ and I was like bro…you’re the emperor why are you just letting your little bro run experiments with people if you know it wouldn’t work
so qianye isnt dead?
When ya got dat Mandate of Heaven, but homework's due tomorrow.
Naur she's qianye west shell never die
But a big part of not enough song coins is shi hoarding coins right so they have enough to trade with people once shi is dead
Qianye definitely ain't dead yet
- The Aliicance was already there. Tian Ying's mission was to break it. aureate pavillion is the organization founded by Li Zuo (Last Emperor not Tang dynasty, not Northern Tand, not Late Tang), mission: cause instability in Song Dynasty (Kaifeng incident), take the list from Aunt Han to gain favor from Kitan
there ain't no way in a jianghu story a character as evil and destroyed our life that bad would just die from a sacrificial explosion like that lol
Cuz he is lil bro with a plan. I would let my lil homie cook, too.
Yep and also still Hella tragic that the original shi was a strict but understanding man
You would let granny turtle starve for your little bro cooking?
Qianye is on another level of martial prowess even compared to killer blade
She's still struggling to figure out what era it is
Tho granny turtle is broke either way. Her entire life saving is like 150$
Her blade is more killer
At that point I don't know no granny tutel, bro.
Like granny please that’s a month and half rent
All dem dirty peasants smell alike.
God of avarice spotted
from what we know she genuinely used to sell her turtle merch decently
Guys, does the witch actually die at the end of chapter 1? Do we get confirmation she died later on?
She said it herself MC asked her "wut happen"
it's pretty much confirmed that she is alive
No she lives
She was still living in the slums tho 😭 and working even tho she’s like 80. Granny should be kicking her feet up going to velvet sect massage hall
Considering the fact that she was behind the Kaifeng storyline
I’VE GOTTA GET MY REVENGE!
Witch is a shame she must die for haoxia
Bro, hell naw.
Zhao got the right idea to live it, see for oneself. Only then I would see the problems and bust my lil bro's ahh.
Zhao is the man ong
She has Yingwing now
so that better mean something
That man is the G, dawg.
Yingwing is leaving to take control of her city
Yingwing chicken wing
Irl pic of big Zhao btw
Granny got them triplets of whoopahh Dao Lord.
Yeah but like she wouldn't let granny turtle struggle 😭
Yingying is better give her money. Ember of the east not even feeding her mom. What a scandal.
We gave her a couple thousand for some time for yingying to get her stuff together but This time next year I better see granny attended to by a bunch of maids on a floating chair in Weiyang (the maid’s all have matching little hats)
why does Li Zuo want to cause instability in the song dinasty?
Granny Turtle has serious connections because she is connected to the Dao Lord and the Emperor
His ahh bitter he lost Mandate of Heaven himself.
Cause he a hater
Ember of the easy too
And the hero of MC retreat
Yeah but Yingying is lowkey a bum
He wanted to make his ideal country (No betray, only follow his command)
They be sitting in her house letting her eat moldy bread 😭 granny doesn’t even have a blanket
carried by the narrative
She has cats
LMAO
Has enough 💰 to afford blond hair apparently
Kids these days spending all their cash on gacha smh
the entire questline felt convulated for no reason I feel like there was a better way of making the MC the hero
Wait so im in the nine mortals sect and i can fight the dao lord lol
So there are 3 dinasty concurrently?
New Tang, Song dinasty and Li zuo's?
Her hair is wuxia magic
Like did no one else acknowledge there was three Fu's
Anyway, if I was the last emperor of a dying dynasty, I would want to sheet in not-mine-anymore porch, too.
MC is not a hero im stealing and bullying people in my gameplay
Khitan dynasty
5 dynasties.
And 10 kingdoms
How many times have you been killed in a bounty
Yeah i just saw that right now after beating dao lord
Never been hunted
Truly the hero of jiangwho
I think everyone was already in the know except granny who has dementia so she doesn’t count. And us
I did a random 9 mortals side quest and i basically helped them rob some khitans, then the elder said some lies and ran away after tricking me
And 20 jade coins in inventory
We are in963 AD so bascially we have more than 3. But in the game, you just need to focus on, Song, Southern Tang, Khitan, and the aureate pavillion organization woriking in the dark (Li Zuo is the founder)
Is that the warring kingdoms era?
Welcome to nine mortal ways
It’s the 5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms era
So, Khitan is a chinese dynasty/faction? Not mongols?
Yup 5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms era
Has anyone else done the sidequest east of kaifeng by the harbor? Bunch of lore about 4 generals fighting eachother
Then you get backstabbed... by one of their daughters
Alright, thanks a lot
Nomadic related to Mongols but are chinese
Barbarians still.
Khitans broken in aoe2 btw
I only wanted to get an inner way for ropedart and had to do a miniboss, bossfight, puzzle and fat lore reading
hate khitans
I like Nine Mortal Ways. These guys cool.
Raging tides alcoholism sect
I joined for the drip, but the lore is pretty cool.
Amen, brudda.
They basically hate khitans and fight to protect people, with some scamming along the way
You think they are sad heavens pier burned down with all the alcohol
Robin Hood ahh merry company.
They also cracked down on the human trafficking there
What do you think 👀
They destroyed traffickers? Based.
Yeah the quest im right now is that they got backstabbed by some elder while fighting the khitans and that traitor made a human trafficking den with bandits
I heard they kinda work together with Velvet Shade on occassion.
Heaven pier burning down is the real reason they can’t be joined rn. Too busy clearing out their stock of parting tears
It's what the guy tells you after rescuing you, the fact that oem of the nine mortal ways disciples get beat up by the traffickers and helps you
Some text inscribed in a wall was the dao lord woving to bring the traitor down
So yes they are sad
Lmao that traitor is going to get pummeled
The northern sect lore at the starting area was also cool, i love the flute and oath emote
Yanyun oat
My favourite move is when the three little turds emote and burrow into the ground
Traitor's soooo cooked.
When fighting em
I had to shoot them 4 different times before they wanted to fight me bruh
Northern vow
Reminds me of northern blade
Truly the turdiest of turds
They literally fortnite emote on you before kicking your teeth in, kek.
sad that they no longer exist.
I think all members of northern vow is done for
They exist still they have descendants
These nine mortal disciples npcs still wont acknowledge me after i have joined the sect....
If you go back to the ruins you see the three northern vow descendants vibing
I'm waiting for a sect thats all about the new weapon
The fist weapon
Right.. I suppose.. Though I don't think they can be considered a still running sect / organization though
Im lowkley leaving nine mortals after i get the outfit and hair
Then joining velvet shade for research purposes....
I will stay until Velvet.
Me with midnight blades rn.
great minds think alike
They're not running they're resting peacefully
What's velvet shade all about again
funnily enough the "scam", that we've seen so far, aren't even actual scams. They're kinda.. trollish white lies
like a guy from the sect happens to have the same name, so technically he isn't lying
Subterfuge, intelligence, beauty, seduction, love.
the sect quest is to post fake gifts in global chat 💔 but for ingame they also pretended to be well of heaven sect and made you pay to join, the other ingame quest i remember is robbing khitan envoys for intel
O right the sexi dancers
yes. I've done this
I struggled really badly to join nine mortals i had to watch a yt tutorial to know about the well of heaven scam to join
I just tell people its fake, lol.
but he never said in the first place that he's well of heaven elder, he claims he's a sect elder and if you want to join you should pay him and snatch a jewelry. Then turns out he's a nine mortals elder lol
I type "my sect quest" lol
yea they are not breaking the law i believe
They expertly avoid breaking the law.
You robbed a well of heaven member lol
aye. They're the chaotic good personified. and so far their story is the most indepth and we get involved with them a lot.
Yeah they are still better than most people kinda
Yup. As I said: Robin Hood's merry company.
These khitan guards and officals really piss me off
lol yeah. I don't think they're not "breaking the law". They definitely do crimes. They just don't scam people willy nilly is all.
If only we have a full goose mystic skill set 🙂↕️
i mean yea they were considered subhumans so yea
basically if its not poor commoners its free game
Time to crack down on this game's whales, lol.
ngl everyone that got to rule china sinicized so did they admit they were inferior or whats the logic behind it
their elder side quest story is pretty cool. And our three little friend is the sorta-leader figure of the sect as well
rephrase i dont understand what you wrote
One of the leaders
sinicized?
adopting chinese culture instead of imposing your own culture over the chinese
The MC is adopted
The people that ruled china adopted chinese culture instead of using their own? Were the rules not chinese?
aint ever gonna see a MC that had a good upbringing
GASP! I AM ADOOOOPTED DDDDD:
At least we didnt see our parents die.
we didnt see them die coz we are the ones thats gonna kill them no?
Wait, damn. We saw our lil sis and older bro die tho.
It's on sight for the pavillion dweebs
Who tf our parents?
I didnt like Yi dao until the end tbh
No mercy.
theres theories on the CN that the guy who the void king serves is our father
The bug guy?
yea
I'm bug
emperor Li or w/e his name is
Bro had a code he obeyed. I respect that.
Wait. That was Li Zao?
i think so
He is still just some Jianghu vagrant that would you kill you if he wanted your stuff#
😭
Bro, imagine being a Tang loyalist, hunting the MC for years just to learn its your boss' kid.
Fml.
What is this
He just bullies you until then he becomes a cool uncle
Starwars
He's jaded.
FOR REAL XD
Is it weird to not like a character that js push you around 💔
Dude acted like a gruff vagrant almost like an older brother 😭
But it all gucci, cuz y'all suck at the job of fighting for Tang and your boss' lil menace has more confirmed kills than the Yellow River.
I started liking him when he helped me avenge my hometown
then he got caught lackijng
*we got caught lacking and he saved me
lol. Hating on Yi Dao while here I am hating the absolute crap out of the MC. There are few moments I really want to scream on how dumb the MC can be, especially in Qinghe.
IKR?
Dislike not hate, i hate those masked aureate invaders!
Granted, MC is only 16.
but I suppose it comes with age. Glad the tragedy tempered him at least.
and that witch with her phase 3 snow teleporting
So dumb is their middle name.
Mmm, lemme SUCC dem martial arts from that scroll instantly. Hell can go wrong, eh?
if aunt han actually let him go adventuring jianghu world without all that tragedy I know for a fact he'd die before leaving Qinghe.
Yeah average jianghu wanderer
Yup.
Or be the greatest martial artist that ever lived
We still got robbed and scammed, jianghu experience
Daily basis no less.
or has sand shoveled into his gaping mouth and died.
Sometimes I read those quests and situations and wonder whether the MC is lobotomized or was skipping on school that hard.
Jianghu..
Knock knock, whose there?
Jiang
Jiang.. who.
Jianghu
If i got put in a murim story i would become a scholar and keep my head down. We can't all have heaven defying talent yk
Learn a movement technique to run away
Is that a rolling joke? Second time I heard it.
youre not for the jianghu then
im not the top 1%
Safe choice, typa shi' you'd say if you were in a cyberpunk world and I'd fwi tbh
it's his name. @timber nebula lol.
No it's just my name
... Oh.
I'd probably learn the golden palm and just become the greatest fisherman that ever lived, fisting fishes day and night.
Cabbage seller. I know for a fact I wouldn't die.
But I would hate y'all wanderers.
Tai chi fisherman
the estate update really needs to arrive soon. I'm waiting for the beginning of my jianghu slow life chapter
You would... What fishes day and night?
Im waiting for the velvet shade harem update
just a question, will it be revealed who our parents are?
We will know a liitle bit in Hexi map
The current running season of Where Winds Meet is Blade Out, which will run from November 14, 2025, to February 5, 2025.
Two areas are expected to be released in early 2026. The Bolangsha is located in the northwest part of Kaifeng, which will feature three new bosses, additional collectibles, and quests. Another major update will introduce a new region in the map, Hexi, which will initially become accessible through the Yumen Pass.
The Moon Shines on Yumen Pass is the chapter that will feature the next major region, Hexi, in the story. Following the release on the Chinese server, it will take a while before this appears in the game.
Along with the Dragon's Roar Over the Vast Ocean gacha outfit, three new Martial Arts skills will be released. The Bone Shrinking Skill will allow you to shrink and sneak into small passages.
Upon the introduction of the new area in Kaifeng, Bolangsha, three new bosses will become available: the Nameless General, the Drunken Fist, and the sole new boss in Qinghe, the Coffin Owner.
does anyone have any idea at least when the estate update will be out, or at least on which part of the future update? Date is probably too much to ask, but how many major updates left?
The one that allows us to hire NPC, build farms, etc
I'd be a farmer or fisherman. Scholar life isn't for me.
Ancient China education is all about memorising old chinese classics. I couldn't
I don't quite understand the story of the first episode. Do you happen to know of any websites or resources that summarize the plot?
There are a few lore videos on youtube
Tian Ying's the hero, not you. Unlucky hero. Stupid Khitans, Aureate Pavillon and Tang dynasty. Auntie has book those losers want. Killed stuff for it. No Blissful Retreat.
Got you a tl;dr.
What part is confusing?
MC is more of a liability in act 1
foster dad kills his foster dad, runs away with baby, grow baby up with foster mom. Baby grow up becomes us, foster dad go and get milk, never to return. Baby plays with smol fren, dreams of adventuring. Foster mom's friend comes over, tells mom her lover dies. Mom sad, throws wine. Baby knobhead wants to leave adventuring when mom sad. Bad guy comes and attack mom's tavern. Baby defends the tavern. Mom's friend dead, smol fren dead, Mom's missing. Baby got letter that mom apparently asks someone for help in Kaifeng. Baby go to Kaifeng to find Mom.
That's about it.
Tian ying is James Bond. Not sure if he's a hero but definitely James Bond
No.
Tian Ying is Tian Ying. Therefore he cannot be James Bond, because James Bond cannot be Tian Ying. James Bond cannot Tian Ying the way Tian Ying Tian Yings, which furthermore reinforces my statement.
In this game, people do what they are supposed to do. It's bad for some but it's a right cause to them
Also, Tian Ying is Johnny Depp. And James Bond is not Johnny Depp.
Well Tian Ying probably > James Bond. Guy turned into a monk. Means no sects and turning vegetarian.
Meanwhile James Bond can't finish assignment without hooking up with chicks and martinis
Tian Ying - Miaoshan related to the Buddha - Thousand Village incident. Aunt Han was in the face-changing operation, she locked all the failed experiments in the underground and they never see the light again.
And is not Johnny Depp.
Tian Ying, however, is Johnny Depp.
So.... considering the MC has beaten a lot of significant figures....
How strong is the MC really, lore-wise, being 16 years old?
They are strong indeed. There are many theories reagrding the origin of MC
As I said, we are Luke Skywalker of WWM.
Probably stronger than the average bandit but below top tier fighters like Auntie Han, uncle Jiang, and tian ying
Copper must be so rare back then for tian ying to dismantle so many buddha statues into copper coins until paper notes were invented.
Yet.
honestly with the feats shown so far at this stage of the game, I'd say they're closer to the top tier fighters more than they're closer to the average bandit/jianghu people
No, not Tian Ying. The head of the Plan is Later Zhou Chai Rong
No, Late Zhou is the dynasty before Song Dynsastty
Since the story of this game is loosely based from history, could it be the mc is surnamed 赵?
imo it would've been better if the MC was made around their early 20s rather than 16 years old
it would make sense for the MC to be as strong as they are but not known in the jianghu because they've been secluded by auntie han and uncle jiang away from it
We barely beat the dao kids tho and they are 6 years old and stacked on top of each other
So maybe we should temper our expectations
fair point
Also is our aunt Han surname is 韓 (Hán) in mandarin?
95% of it is based on real history, so I wudnt call it loosely based on. Just some wuxia flair and spice on top
In the history, Big Zhao was one of the offical in Late Zhao dynasty. Then later during the Chai Rong Emperor's campainge to take back 16 districts from Khitan, Chai Rong suddelnly got ill. He went back to Kaifeng and died there, the son of Chai Rong later take the throne, but bcuz he was still the kid, so Big Zhao and his brothers and supporters took the throne and later found Song Dynasty
Also uncle Jiang / auntie Han was like in their early 20s when they retired so jianghu just churns through people young
Or started heavens pier at least
wait, really? goddamn, having seen/watched a lot of wuxia stories, I always thought that early 20s was like going-into-prime years in the jianghu
One must always bear in mind the wise words of the Zhuangzi - Now I am going to make a statement here. I don’t knowwhether or not it fits into the category of other people’sstatements. But whether it fits into their category orwhether it doesn’t, it obviously fits into some category. Soin that respect, it is no different from their statements. However, let me try making my statement. There is a beginning. There is a not yet beginning to be abeginning. There is a not yet beginning to be a not yetbeginning to be a beginning. There is being. There isnonbeing. There is a not yet beginning to be nonbeing. There is a not yet beginning to be a not yet beginning to benonbeing. Suddenly there is being and nonbeing. Butbetween this being and nonbeing, I don’t really know whichis being and which is nonbeing. Now I have just saidsomething. But I don’t know whether what I have said hasreally said something or whether it hasn’t said something.
20s is peak prime years. 30s is ‘oh they are strong that’s why they aren’t dead yet’ 40s is a grandpa
so basically comparable to real world athletes
16 is a pretty normal start point and they accumulate power until like 22-24 or so
Yea i called it "loosely" due to not 100% historical + additional wuxia flavors, but yea i just wondering for those who have played in chinese server, is the mc is from 赵 family? lol
well I guess it would make more sense, I guess the majority I've read were mostly about the more over-exaggerated wuxia stuff with people going over a hundred years old
Tbh they are basically just athletes ig
Ancient China people get married at 16
That’s closer to xianxia and if you aren’t 1000 you are a noob 😂
I think mainly is the correct word lol
Chai Rong task was given to Tian Ying since he died, right?
oh didn't know those were two different things
And I think the MC identy is still not revealed yet, only small hints even in CN
Yes, assasination of Khitan envoy was also a plan of ChaiRong
Not really. Chai Rong was the emperor. Tian Ying was James Bond in his majesty's service
And also Chai Rong plan to destroy the Buddha - Thousand Village and Tian Ying was a part of it
but then again, thinking about it, the last wuxia series I've watched was romance of the condor heroes, and I'm pretty sure most "pwoerful" characters there were implied to be around their 20s-30s rather than the exaggerated ages
Xianxia is a high fantasy, where u cultivate to become immortal, whilst wuxia is pretty much less magical than xianxia, the most we could get is levitation skill, unlike xianxia where u can fly and hovering in the sky permanently
The chat keeps debating this 😂 xianxia is more supernatural (so most people you’ll run into is immortals and gods and spirits, think of it like mythology) and wuxia is more down to earth but still fantasy, so you will get occasional passing spirits or mentions/dreams of gods but 99% of the people are just like, advanced martial artists with a little bit of supernatural skill
I swear I have seen or read a wuxia series somewhere where sect leaders are implied to be around early 100 years old
Instead of jumping 2 ft you jump 20 ft
Ya. The history also mentioned this.
It was only recent 1980s then we found out we had way too much bronze and copper
But you aren’t jumping to a different galaxy
Longetivity still exist in wuxia, but not as exaggerated as xianxia or xuanhuan, 100yrs old are just a mere baby for those cultivators in xianxia or xuanhuan stories
Xianxia just straight up live in the sky. Why come down to earth (other than to be punished and reincarnated into a mortal and fall in love with some blossom spirit so the girlies can self insert)
It’s possible for wuxia to have prolonged lifespans (people do live to 100 yrs old irl after all) but they aren’t immortal
okay then yeah, my knowledge regarding about ages in wuxia still came from majority of these stories where there's a lot of characters who are the peak of the jianghu but are 100 or nearing 100 years old
cuz I myself don't like xianxia
Those are the old grandpas or grandmas. Best to fear the old in a profession where most die young.
Surely we will get 九阴真经 and 九阳神功 as our new inner arts in a few years down the road.
Lol i got censored by bot
Im waiting for 葵花寶典
Tbh are there good wuxia to xianxia stories? Like protag keeps ranking up and eventually 1000yrs past and now they are fighting the jade emperor personally
But a pure wuxia start
… gonna have an eunuch class to use that
yeye I get it, I honestly never liked the xianxia stories, considering my first exposure to wuxia was a game called age of wushu and the realism/immersion just felt way better rather than just cultivating until you're immortal
I don't play Chinese version but are the bronze bells inner ways named 金钟罩 or 铁布衫?I assume they should rename those
Thats not wuxia, thats xianxia since theres a jade emperor
no they're talking about stories starting as wuxia then going into xianxia as it progresses
if the main antagonist in our game gets what he wants this game might turns into just that.
No no I mean one that starts pure wuxia and spends a lot of time there jianghuing, but you know how power creep goes eventually we end up on xianxia
Female chara exist, it would be funny if the inner art is exclusive to female chara lol
Ah yea, there are several stories like that
Oh? I didn’t check these. I remembered one of them is a tank art so yes golden bell is named to refer to 金钟罩
Any good reccs? 👀
give any story enough time and it evolves into xinxia
in an older wuxia game called age of wushu that I mentioned, it has a castration system where your male character can actually become a eunuch
and you needed to be one to join a specific sect
Funnier to be male martial art to be OP af. Introduce 少林童子功 then increase price of gender change to $99
I mean if they are still kicking and it’s 300yrs later that auto qualifies as a xianxia
the castration process is also an event that can be interrupted by other players just to grief you into not being castrated
Well pretty much most xianxia stories have such beginning, and later here comes the "magical" stuffs, and boom it became xianxia story lol
I’ve always really been on the lookout for a wuxia novel that starts in like the Han or tang dynasty or whatever. They cultivate for 3000 years to get to xianxia but by the time they get there the world is in 3500 and we have cyberpunk people floating around
If anyone has a rec
imagine there are massage parlours in the big city and u can only enter the one for your gender but there are no gender at char creation only body types😂
Something similar is hajime no ippo. It'll end somewhere around year 3500++
I’ve been reading/watching a lot of pure xianxia tbh and and pure wuxia and haven’t seen a lot of crossover 😭 but maybe I just don’t read the 5000 chapter light novels enough
I recalled the condition for 葵花宝典 and 辟邪剑法 is only eunuch can do this.
Gonna go check it out! Thanks
I'm just kidding. It's just a boxing manga
I was like.. wait wtf
NOOOOOO I’ve been tricked 😭 nine mortal ways got me
hajime no ippo has time skip and goes to year 3k..
Perhaps I am the gullible young master
if you were to randomly travel back in time from 300bc to 1400ad would you be able to figure out what era are you in without talking to anyone?
(in china)
The running joke among readers is it'll never end cuz the pace is pretty slow. I like it tho
Would someone theorically or like, me me
Yes and ippo great great great great grandson become world champion at last
someone with knowledge of china lets say
like are there visual cues to that
I was about to say I wouldn’t know anything 😭 writing and coins probably give it away
coz unless im missing info, theres literally no difference in chinese architecture over the years i specified
Yes. We will know if we had underwear.
Its not only eunuch, those inner arts are intended for female cultivators due to sheer 阴气 it produce when u cultivate it, so ofc male cultivators cultivate 阳气 so to continue the cultivation they have to sever their 睾丸 coz yea 睾丸 is the source of 阳气
If they invented things like paper currency and gunpowder yet
wasnt paper currency like 1200ad?
about gunpowder didnt they have that since han dynasty ?
Yea the architecture, written letters, the clothings, staple foods, u can guessed it from there
Which would help narrow down a time span no to post 1100ad pre 1400 ad. Gunpowder was commonly said to have been invented in the 9th century so if gunpowder and no paper money you are working with a 200-300 yr span
Its our big bro 赵 who started the standard, just like how the main story goes
I didnt count promisory notes as paper money btw
And you just narrow from there. Is there a war going on? Are the girls in tang or song dynasty clothes? Have rich girls started footbinding? Have the poor girls since they started like a century after the rich girls?
surely that cutscene isnt a psyop
Etc etc you get it
footbinding
But if you want to count it, then promisory notes has been exist since tang dynasty or before song dynasty (the current timeline of the game)
Story lyingggg it didnt start until 1100s and caused massive inflation
we prolly got to keep this in anecdotes at most as we know how the heavenly dragon treats such things but
But still, our big bro 赵 started it first, despite later became a huge issue of massive inflation lol
but some things smell of modern psyops to me
Last emperor of tang started it and trickled down to song girls and became widespread in the 1100s. Very helpful in finding out time in the era without talking
sadly i know what footbinding is
If feet unbound, pre tang
kinda wish i didnt
Yea twas crazy
So the answer is to demand girls to show you their feet. That’s always the answer no?
I dont know how small foot equals beauty
The dao girls dodged that trend like a bullet. Born 120 yrs later they won’t be jumping like that no sir.
they probably look cute... with shoes on, however i dont think u want to see them with shoes off
It really is something that can’t be unseen

Well if you must say one good thing about our villain he killed the guy that invented footbinding so
Win?
Wait are we the baddies
Oh no
步步生莲!
🤣
Twas the cause of foot binding back then
wait... I think the one who killed him is Big Zhao?
No white haired villain guy killed his brother the footbinding guy, then immediately got kicked off the throne not long after
Second to last yeah
is he?
I thought that was emperor ai
Yeah isn’t that the white haired dude tho?
Yeah white haired dude is called Li Zuo
Southern Tang royalty is descendant of Tang
yeah, Li Yu is the guy that invented foot binding. He's forced to drink poison by Taizong aka Big Zhao
Okay okay I looked it up again and I am messing Li Yu, prince of de who was the second to last emperor to tang. And Li yu of southern tang who ruled like 60 yrs later
Honestly they should get more diversity in names because wtf
Well they share the same bloodline after all lol
laughs in louis II, louis III, louis iv, louis v...louis xviii
Okay guys, I am a bit confused, I just did the tale of the blind man in Qianghe, where it tells a bit of the story of Uncle Jiang (Wulang), I'm a bit confused about what truly happened and how the general ||"died twice" || if someone can enlighten me I'd appreciate >.>
wait till you heard about Big Zhao changing his name
At least they are numbered 😭
and the whole feet binding thing started from this dude Li Yu's court
bro got some feet fetish
dont they have stylized name in china tho
apparently he changed his name from Zhao Kuangyi to ..... Zhao Guangyi.
I can track 3 coming after 4
Yeah but they aren’t numbered 😭
Welp u got second name (courtesy name) when u reached adulthood back then in china, then if u reached certain achievements like sitting in the high governmental position, u'll get another title and people will call you with the new name lol
they dont need numbers lol
I need the numbers 😭
Li Ckass > stylised > Tongueran
Oh thank you, that makes more sense, I was failing to understand why Jiang killed him
Li Ckpeach > stylised > Bongaroong
Zhao Guangyi is his brother, wait they r the same person
Wonder if we can see the Zhao brothers in the game again
Dont like the second brother 😂
Man wtf
I mean I know that but I just did the ancient Chinese equivalent of messing up pope Leo X with pope Leo XI
Some one showed pics of the second brother in jianghu world, going by a different name
yeah sorry. I was wrong. Big Zhao's name is Zhao Kuangyin (with N).
his small brother is Zhao Kuangyi (without N), and later on changed his name to Zhao Guangyi
Maybe he wanted to do older bro’s gap year too. Can you send pics 👀
No u were right, he did change his name by 1 letter
Big Zhao is Taizu. He's Zhao Kuangyin, never changed his name
Yes as for zhao kuangyi its 赵匡义
Smart tbh because it’s a totally different word in Chinese but then when your subjects call you by your new name you still go like ‘oh it’s me!’ And respond
his little brother is Taizong. Who is Zhao Kuangyi, then later changed to Zhao Guangyi
I remember a mod shared it, it was just a model of him in Jianghu drip and his alias
Later he chnaged it to 赵光义
You think emperors mess up their signatures when they just swear in/get coronated like people write the wrong year on like Jan 2 every year
So from 匡 to 光
Was it good jianghu drip or beggar drip
Wasnt a flashy one that's for sure
Tldr general got turned into zombie. The upset guy saw Jiang kill general zombie and thought he killed general for real.
……. Would
this drip does look like a beggar's tho if it werent for the leather armor
does he appear in his jianghu attire ingame?
in future story I think
also, is it known what city is that "Blackwater city"?
I mean if big Zhao is stepping in again he has some free time
Begger? Huh? What kind of rich begger is that
That's patterned fabric. In ancient China context it's like u make your clothing out of USD
Well, if it werent for the white fabric, make it black and it will look like a beggar
sigh.. oh well.
I don't like the 2nd brother though so I doesnt look forward to seeing him again that much
Didn’t they just invent silkscreen printing? It’s more like he’s walking out in like, latest season supreme
I'll just copy the first paragraph, here it is.
Blackwater is a city in northwest Cooper County, Missouri, United States located along the Blackwater River, from which it takes its name.[4] The population was 162 at the 2010 census.
this is what I know of Blackwater city. Sounds grim for sure.

Hey it’s the one in red dead redemption!
any chinese expert could tell us more about where this blackwater city could be
Big Zhao's brother purely got introduced to just be some sort of an antagonistic force despite appearing like once in the main story
I always thought it was some sort of "code". Like if you say someone has gone to blackwater city, means they're dead.
that made the main story felt weak because like he just states his motivations and you just kinda have to disagree with him
He is an antagonist tho. In real life he killed his brother
well you could take it that way but they mentioned the witch using same kind of arrray in blackwater city
He was barely an adversary
In the main story
I wouldn't take it as fact
Not much we can do though, before we go to the city his policy to confiscate tang coins was already set in motion
Wikipedia says it’s in Inner Mongolia but it wouldn’t exist for another 70 yrs
So the game didnt just introduce him out of nowhere, it's all history
Just a lot of suspicious circumstances and a lot of propaganda on both sides. Who knows what really happens
wait does he kill big zhao
In history yeah
whats the chinese name for the city
No one really knows, it's not 100% confirmed
Historically we don’t know. ||They have a dinner and an argument? (According to a court official listening outside) and then big Zhao goes to bed and is found dead the next day||
In history, big zhao has promised to his mother that he will transfer the throne to his brother, bcuz among the 3 brothers, the second one (perfect of Kaifeng) had the highest scholar education. But later, big zhao changed his mind and wnated to let his son take the throne. Later, big zhao got ill, the second brother went visit and suddenly big zhao died shortly that night
I just have a nitpick on how he was just appeared at the quest's final moments and was like "for the greater good sorry yingying" and big zhao was like I knew this would have went wrong oops
I don’t think they are going to make the bro an antagonist tho because ||a big part of why the bro is sus is because big Zhao’s two sons also died under suspicious circumstances after arguments with the brother. And we haven’t seen the sons mentioned at all||
well I don't think they have anyone else to show, after all it is the policy of the prefect, and Big Zhao was debating over the policy so much that he went to go undercover to understand the plights of the people
Conclusion could have went way better but it's great
And you have to do the other side campaigns too, it adds a lot to the context of the situation
this isn't confirmed IRL. Also in the game he's not that "evil" either, aside from the fact that he knows the coin crisis needs to be fixed, and he thinks he has to stop the distribution by any means necessary. Which is fair enough and even Big Zhao agrees. I think he's more of a lawful neutral type of guy
Murong Yuan and Zheng E's involvement in the ordeal for example
sounds sus to me
Other than the main conclusion, other side characters get major closures too
basically any sus death in history is kinda murder vibes
I do love the story is more adult that way. Not everything is black and white, aside from really really mean ones.
The way how the entire quest works genuinely got me questioning if Big Zhao is a competent emperor
its a bit too far away from the game setting tho
|| apparently the older son got in an argument with the brother and the brother (who was then emperor) was like ‘well when you are emperor you can do whatever you want but I am emperor rn.’ And then the son went home and killed himself || 😂
I find it a lil funny sometimes how it was potrayed how he was left to fend for himself only to turned out okay because he was the emperor 😭
Going undercover among the commoners to have a real look at the situation is a sign of a competent emperor to me.
no wuxia/xianxia story is complete without ultra evil guy designed to make us feel so satisfied when the MC killed them off.
Does the game include the third brother ?
The ping
I jsut wanna know
that area wasnt even under chinese control at the time of the story so it wouldnt make sense to be the one its reffering to
Well it's just game portrayal. In history song dynasty is very prosperous so he was probably pretty good
Yeah exactly a minor issue I had is with the game's potrayal made it seem like he was doing something with no direction
he is proactive
Yeah 😭 I’ll pull up Google Maps tonight
How so?
That's not a confirmed fact. There are arguments both for and against
He was shown to be proactive being undercover and all but it's like this dynasty revolves around him
I think he just listened to the counsel of his own brother, who is the prefect. He just went with his plan I think? It's funny that both him and the prefect pretend to be commoners tho lol
running around getting a feel of the suffering and pain but his resolve to end wars with another war to end them all
just rubbed the wrong way lowkey
He gets to be compelling sometimes which is great
he isn't perfect by any means but damn was I just thinking damn bro pick a direction
I'm just lowkey mad I came across a signpost saying Big Zhao is emperor Zhao very early on in the game when first meeting big Zhao. Really spoiled the storyline for me later on.
Well Big Zhao used to be a general so his stance ofc will be to go to war first and fix things later, but at least he changed his opinion after the whole thing
Tbh I think he is just really new at this governing thing. He hasn’t gotten used to the yellow robes yet.
Tbf delaying a war is kinda a huge decision so it's understandable that he needs time to think
No he just likes women clothing better. More ventilation.
Can't believe the emperor actually put on a ridiculous outfit to sneak in with the wanderer, and didn't even pay used his commoner connections
Btw wrt Taizu's fate I really hate it when people conflate plausible theories with facts... presenting Taizong killing Taizu as a fact is just plain dishonest
He uses geese as weapons too goddamn Zhou is a god amongst mortals
It was either this or attending endless court. He was probably bored out of his mind and needed recreation
I really like this geese is OP trope. I've never seen this in any wuxia content before it's so entertaining
He would soon create a legendary bureaucratic empire
But it's surprising that he isn't as anti Jianghu as I felt like he should have been
yea i bet emperors get bored and go out in public when they know literally everyone around them wants to kill them
I mean he was a general until like 2 yrs ago
He's not huizong 🤣
and got in power via a coup'de'tat
Well they could back then. Not like camera phone exist. Nobody really knew what the emperor looks like except court officials
exactly why he would have been anti jianghu
Not recreation. More like trying to understand the common folk, it's why he left to go back demon time as emperor and help too
its the court officials who wanted you dead not the peasants
It's an uncontrolled martial power
The jianghu doesn't really bow down to the government
Being in a political court is like bad Reddit mods huffing and meeting each others winds
And the knowledge of him creating a civilian based goverment adds on to an anti martial power sentiment
I always associated court with anti jianghu. Generals are like ‘hmmm can we use it? If no we hate but if yes…I mean cheap firepower”
Well back then emperor palace was as big as a city. Ain't no way to keep track of emperors if he just wants to sneak out incognito I guess
Tbf i think it's great to portray a human side of him I think
It's quite funny how they (cn spoilers) ||portrayed Tang Yizong in contrast, in the flashback||
Generals aren’t opportunistic about jianghu they’re the ones who understand most clearly that freelance fighters are a liability on the battlefield, so they oppose jianghu not out of courtly ideology but out of professional military necessity.
The relationship between the jianghu and the goverment is mutual but like they don't really fw eachother yknow
Jianghu people are essentially outlaws. They're not all bandits or bad people but just mostly existed outside the governed areas like cities
Well Big Zhao likes us because he knows we r related to Jiang after seeing our martial art, and he probably has a soft spot for people who are patriotic, even if they are from jianghu
They're essentially vigilantes but they do elevate to like a superman/batman status of unregulated heroism
Superman, batman level 🤔
And uncle Jiang probably served in the army too, since he's adopted son of wang qing
He cultivate money
For an analogy - it's better to train dogs for war than tigers, dogs follow commands, dogs can work together, a tiger on its own might beat a dozen dogs but a hundred dogs would kill a tiger
What I mean tho is like a one off. Obviously an army of wuxia heroes is terrible, but keeping one or two jianghu assassins on hand is just prudent no? Or convincing the local wuxia dude to fight for your cause like yingying did to us
I am sure at times they work on the same side plus the government will have their own very skilled assassins and martial artists, but it's like the typical wuxia hero is someone who fights for the cause of righteousness and if they were for example to do things like political assassinations then they've abandoned that ideal and could no longer be considered a wuxia hero
are the Aureat blade monkeys really monkeys
Wait is han dynasty happening in jiang hu?
Do we hve lubu, liubei or cao cao later?
Yes.
no..the three kingdoms are way way much earlier somewhere around AD220..WWM is around AD962
Big chinese dynasties: Qin > Han > Three Kingdoms > Jin > Northern & Southern Dynasties > Sui > Tang > Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms > Song (WWM here)
uhhh is there any explanation to how the MC got involved in jinming pool?
it's like "hey go to this banquet" and then suddenly you're... involved in the grandest scheme of things?
You were supposed to do MSQ first then you would meet Muroung Yaun there organically.
But the bane is that you can just skip MSQ ASAP once you get to new zone.
So it create this odd inconsistency.
The problem is that it's open world
I did finish the MSQ first up until to the current end but I'm still lost how we got involved
