there was no real information on Aunt Han as I believe you need to be further in the story, like we have the dungeon where we fight a different version of her but nothing is rly explained.

Tian Yu was apparently an orphan who was raised as a monk/assassin (I believe? I may be remembering wrong). His fight contained 3 phases, where 2 phases he was a monk and the third he was an assassin

Nah this is saying that the Aunt Han you fought in the dungeon was merely a heart demon that looked like Aunt Han, it has no relation to the actual character lol since it says "After becoming possessed". So we (the MC) got possessed while down in the dungeon, I assume cause we read that book or line or w/e.

The game isnt finished yet. They just havent updated the main story yet. So about the coins, its tied back to its historical background

Bc of the chaotic Five Dynasty and Ten Kingdom period, dynastys and emperors rise and fall like a roulette wheel constantly. That means A LOT of different currency flying around. It makes the financial situation rlly messy and hard to handle bc theres just so many different currencies.

The story now is the start of North Song dynasty going into the Song dynastic eras. Now the government is changed with handling this difficult situation. They have to clean up the different currencies and make their official currency, copper coins flow. BUT theres a lack of copper coins bc despite the government handingbout money its still disappearing fast. Now they need to ban the other currency, like the Tang iron coins said in the story. BUT that means taking away the citizens' means to live and taking a blow to the nation's finances. Yet they have to do it its important in the long run.

What granny has is the TianFu era coins from the last years of the Tang dynasty and also money from Later Jin. (Many suspect her dead son might have died among the hundred thousands of soldiers innthe campaign north with Wang Qing)

Those coins obviously cant be used now unless u want to exchange them.through the black market. Bc ppl still secretly accept them. Thats why granny is exchanging those coins and buying a shop

The pot from that coin lady was fake, she paid the staff from that building to act with her, it's all tricks

To be precise, she sold the wine that she stole from us, then used that money to pay the staff from that building to act with her. The coins are not generated from the pot, but rather prepared in-purpose

By the way the coin lady is no longer god of wealth. She was wealthy, until she failed confronting another guy. She lost her power, wealth, and got exiled (or rather escaped) from her city

||We, as the main character, tried to save the remaining survivors of the small city by fighting against the enemies, but the little girl found a way how to escape from the house, where most of the remaining survivors tried to hide and she then found a secret-way how to avoid the enemies and to escape the battlefield.
The leader of the enemy-group however saw her red cloth and told her soldiers to aim it, so she can make the mc sad or angry and they missed their first attack, then our horse took the second wave of arrows to save the child and with the third wave of arrows she got killed.
We also visit her grave at the end of the mission and we can still see the red cloth on the tree and the horse survived the attack. ||

Not all the factions but a certain amount for u to get the jist and the system they have each faction has a weapon they specialize in and even more so a specific martial art with said weapon

Some factions have the same weapon they specialize in but have different martial arts and different means

How much of the game is based on real Chinese history vs fantasy

It's quite deeply rooted in Chinese history, the only parts you can say are fantasy are the wuxia elements

The setting is around early song dynasty and some of the characters you meet are actual historical figures

Ex: the first and second emperor of the song dynasty

Imo it's not necessary to know Chinese history to enjoy the game but it'll definitely help with catching smaller details/nuances (especially in side quests that are about the common folk)

It'll also help with understanding why certain characters/npcs did what they did or behave in a certain way (and maybe relating to some of the characters)

But of course not all of the characters are historical

So if you know a little bit about the actual history it's kinda funny to see a very real person from thousands of years ago running around doing stuff

Here is a summarized version of the quest with the woman within the hiden cave benath a lake, which you probably knwo from the beta, but the whole story is more complicated and more emotional if you found every single letter etc.
it might include some minor spoiler for characters which you dont know (but you saw the person within several official trailer-videos)

They are accompanied by a doctor, who has secretly accepted a lucrative assignment. Inside, the player solves puzzles and navigates the traps until they find a statue and eventually the body of a woman in a green robe. The doctor reveals that this woman—Li Zhen Zhen—has been dead for three years, meaning the letter couldn’t have come from her. Although a pair of eyes lies nearby, ready for transplantation, they cannot be used—because she never wished for sight. The player must uncover what truly mattered to her.

The Tragic Life of Li Zhen Zhen – The Moon Goddess
Li Zhen Zhen was born blind and raised in a small, hostile village that treated her as a curse. She had no vision, no allies — only her hands to feel the path forward. She learned to fight by touch, blocking blades with instinct alone. Her hands were scarred, bloodied, and her soul hardened.

“The Khitan envoy must not die in Qinghe. I ask the Moon Goddess to protect him and intercept the Qinghe soldiers…”

He did not wish to save the envoy out of mercy but to make sure the envoy died in Nan Tang, thus ruining any potential alliance and keeping Qinghe’s name clean. He couldn’t explain this to the soldiers—there were too many, and they wouldn’t accept the cost. So he asked her to stop them, even if that meant killing them.

Tian Ying planned to go into Nan Tang alone. But Li Zhen Zhen insisted on accompanying him, claiming that she would never find him on her own since she was blind. After convincing him, she joined his journey and left Feng a farewell letter.

Li Zhen Zhen led the Khitan envoy safely to Nan Tang and slaughtered countless Qinghe soldiers in the process. The soldiers, feeling betrayed, turned against her. Even Feng, shocked and confused, passed her farewell message to the Qinghe forces—perhaps hoping to prevent more bloodshed, even if it meant betraying her.

Final Farewell
Gravely wounded, Li Zhen Zhen wrote one final letter to Tian Ying:

“It’s done. You can rest easy now.
I can’t follow you any longer—you must continue alone. Please forgive me.
I hope your mission succeeds. Let my bloodshed have meaning.
I must tell you something.
Our fate didn’t begin today—it began long ago, the day you came to me. I recognized you.
If I wore this robe again—our wedding robe—would you recognize me too?
About the past… thank you.”

What she had truly wanted was never the dagger he once gave her—but the **flowers **she had once tended. She wished she had taken better care of her younger self, the way she now cared for those flowers.
Whenever she touches the flower, she losed the power to see anything and that's the reason why this is so special for her.

Tian Ying’s Journey
Tian Ying remained in Nan Tang for three years, living under a false identity, performing hard labor as a convict. An old man once asked him:

“Have you ever cared for someone? The kind of care where you wish time would slow down when you’re with them?”

A faint image of a woman with bandaged eyes flickered in his mind—but only briefly.

“No. I still have something important to do. I can’t think about that yet.”

Eventually, Tian Ying was released and resumed his plan—but not before returning to the lake.

The Ending – Unfulfilled Promises
Standing before her resting place, Tian Ying writes one final letter:

“How could he ever repay this debt?
But what he had promised — he would fulfill, no matter what.

The hand holding the brush trembled slightly.

"I will give you new eyes."

He wrote the final line.

Li Zhen Zhen — he spoke her name silently, without a sound.

He turned to leave the depths of the lake…

The Legend of the Moon Goddess
To this day, stories tell of a martial artist known only as the Moon Goddess, who appeared under moonlight and vanished after protecting a Khitan envoy. People say she returned beneath the lake, her silhouette seen one last time—singing to the moon.

Her voice lingered on the wind, eternal and sorrowful.

I advise everyone, who really cares about the lore and the world-building of the game, to read most of the hidden letters, cuz you learn A LOT about Tian Ying and his journey, cuz he will play a bigger role

So this small detail shows a rare soft side of Tian Ying, he subconsciously cares about how Li Zhen Zhen sees him (even though she can't see him).

Many people say that Li Zhen Zhen actually doesn't harbor romantic feelings for Tian Ying and that her gratitude towards him outweighs the other feelings, and I kinda agree, but I wouldn't completely deny that, because the in-game notes pretty much imply that they have a special relationship. They are comrades, partners in crime and fight for the people of this nation, even though they must cover their hands in blood. Maybe, in another timeline, they could have been friends or something more, but sadly that will never happen.

Yes this is really important! WWM actually has a "light route" for the main story with the MC as the protagonist, and a "shadow route" as a parallel story line. This shadow route is kinda special, bc the story is not narrated in a linear way. The clues and traces of the past are scattered through the whole map, but you'll find the most of it in side quests, so do not skip them because some of them are really important.

In Qinghe, you basically follow the traces of Tian Ying, a living legend in Jianghu. You go the places where he stopped by, talk to people who has a connection with him, collect information and fight against bosses, until you finally meet Tian Ying personally. It's a long journey but it's worth it. (It's a bit complicated bc you need to combine the information by yourself and it's most likely not in a chronological order).

The storywriting team made a huge effort in order to write his story, it's very complex and you need a little background information of the Chinese history (because it's partly based on actual history), but I hope you'll have fun while exploring the story :)

Some parts are already included in the summary above, but I only translated bits and parts, so I wanted to share the whole chapters, because I love the small details (田黎99 😭)
(Some parts are probably not 100% accurate because it's difficult the capture the original tone)

Chapter Li:

After so many years, Li Zhenzhen had finally learned the boy’s name.

Tian Ying.

Secretly, she traced those two characters with her hand, wondering how they were actually written. She drew them stroke by stroke, repeating it over and over again.

Tian Ying, Tian Ying, Tian Ying...

She felt a gentle joy.

The person she had searched for over ten years had unexpectedly appeared before her.

Could this be fate?

All her life, she had only ever met fate with hatred. She had fought against it, refusing to surrender—but this was the first time she wanted to thank fate.

He hadn’t recognized her, nor did he remember her at all, but it didn’t matter. It was enough that she alone knew of this reunion.

As for the tasks assigned by that person… of course she had agreed immediately.

It didn’t matter whether she became his sword or bloodied her hands in his place. As long as he needed her, she could become anything.

Even though she had no interest in the eyes, she had still disguised her support as some sort of transaction.

If she had agreed unconditionally, it would only arouse suspicion in someone as cautious as him.

But she hadn’t expected that guarding the envoy from Khitan wasn’t the entirety of his plan. He had to go to the Qingfeng Inn and carry out yet another assassination.

The Qingfeng Inn, within the Tang Empire—dozens of soldiers were stationed there. How could he come and go as he pleased?

There was no time to lose. Li Zhenzhen insisted on adding another condition to the deal: she wanted to go with him.

There was hesitation in his voice.

“Why do you want to go to the Qingfeng Inn?”

“How would I know if you’ll ever return? How is a blind woman like me supposed to find you if you run away?”

She made up a casual lie. Fortunately, he seemed to believe her.

“I promised you that I’d trade the eyes for you. I will definitely return with them. I will keep my word.”

“I don’t believe you.”

She pretended to have no trust in him at all. He sighed deeply and said, “I’ll leave in three days. I won’t wait for you after that.”

Three days—that was enough.

Enough to pack her things and prepare herself. She had nothing left to hold her back, and thus, she could follow this man through life and death, to protect him.

…If only that incident hadn’t happened.

Why did Li Zhenzhen have to wear her wedding dress as she lay dying?

Even she didn’t have a clear answer.

Perhaps it was because she knew that one day, someone would come to the bottom of the lake for her, because of a promise, and find her.

She had worn a wedding dress when they first met, so she might as well say goodbye to him in that same dress.

Maybe then, he would remember. Remember that they had met already, all those thousands of days and nights ago.

“You have to finish what you started.”

“You have to keep living.”

“You mustn’t... forget me.”

“Tian Ying.”

It was the first and also the last time she spoke his name. Yet in that empty cave, there was no one who could hear these words.

Chapter Tian:

During the three years he spent in the Tang Empire, he disguised himself as a criminal and did hard labor in prison.

An old man, also a prisoner, looked at him with a mocking glint in his eyes.

“Is there truly no one in your life that you care about? Someone you wish time would slow down for, just so you could spend a little longer with them?”

The pickaxe in his hand, which he was using to break rocks, paused for a moment. Suddenly, he remembered the woman with the bandaged eyes—but it was just a fleeting moment.

“No. I haven’t finished my task, so I haven’t thought about it.”

…

“Well then, the time has come. You can finally go home. You must’ve waited a long time, haven’t you? Always had that great cause on your mind.”

“Mh.”

He responded briefly. There was no time for farewells. He turned and mounted the horse.

He had to return. He had wasted three years, and the plan could not be delayed any further.

But there was one more thing he had to do first.

With a skilled motion, he sheathed his sword, shook off the blood, and carefully wiped clean the moist eyes in his hand. Gently, he placed them in the extremely cold ice-jade box and held it close.

He remembered that day, three years ago, when he had made her a promise. Their first meeting had been at the bottom of a lake.

He had asked her for help, and she had listened silently. Though her eyes could see nothing, she had always looked straight in his direction, as if she could peer into the deepest corners of his heart.

His heart pounded heavily.

For a brief moment, he lost focus and couldn’t hear her response. But fortunately, her answer was always simple. No matter what he said, she would always respond with: “Alright.”

“The deeds of the Moon Goddess have reached my ears from afar. May I ask you to help me save someone?”

“Alright.”

“To save this person, you’ll probably have to kill many others. They’re all good people.”

“Alright.”

“The Moon Goddess is truly as the rumors say… I wonder, what would the Moon Goddess want in return? A few eyes?”

“Alright.”

Thus, they made a promise. She would help him protect the person, and he would find the eyes for her.

But unfortunately, he arrived three years too late. He only hoped she wouldn’t resent him too much.

He finally arrived at Moon Lake, looked into the still-clear waters, and suddenly raised his hand to fix his hair.

He carried the marks of wind and sand—far too rough.

...

He was still a step too late—or rather, many steps.

Three entire years.

Three years ago, he had waited three days for her. But she had remained at the bottom of the lake and waited for him until today.

He couldn’t repay the debt. How could he ever repay it?

But the promise he had made—he would keep it no matter what. Even if, even if…

The hand writing the letter trembled slightly.

I will trade the eyes for you.

He signed the last line: Li Zhenzhen. His lips moved slightly, mouthing the name without sound.

I haven't played the game yet, but since no one's answered in 3 hours: that's a common translation for a typical respectful form of address in Chinese historical fantasy/martial arts dramas etc. even if the person being addressed is just from a respectable sect/family or, I guess, dressed like they might be. (Like how "gentleman" actually literally means "man of noble birth" in English.) It's just not easy to translate seamlessly.

The Aunty Han that you fight (heartseeker iirc the boss was called) is not actually Aunty Han but an illusion/inner demon created by MC when they 走火入魔 (I can't remember the translation but it's like going loco after learning/practicing a new martial art) but as for why it appeared as aunty Han the most common understanding is that as MC explore 弱水岸 (the area where you fight heartseeker) they find out more and more about Aunty Han and which makes them suspect that Aunty Han is evil/doing bad things behind the scenes, which is why the illusion appears as aunty Han

But there's also suspicion that QianYe has some involvement because the inner demon has the same in-game model as QianYe (+ it's quite obvious that aunty Han and QianYe has something going on between them)

Potential spoiler for Aunty Han and QianYe's backstory from the CN beta ||there's info in the cn beta that mentions that QianYe's full name is Han QianYe, which suggests that QianYe is related to Aunty Han (aka they're sisters), there's also theories that say Aunty Han and QianYe used to work for 绣金楼 (the antagonist grp) but Aunty Han defected for whatever reason while QianYe stayed with the grp||

Also as for why mc is referred to young master, Aunty Han is the person that set up and built heaven's pier from scratch during the war, which makes her the "master" of that area. Aunty Han is also co-parenting mc with uncle Jiang (MC is essentially with Aunty Han most of the time cuz uncle Jiang has his own thing going on), the people in heaven's pier widely accepted MC as Aunty Han's kid, which essentially makes MC the young master of Heaven's pier

So regarding this part
I wil put my messages into a spoiler, so everyone who doesnt' want to know who the guy at the beginning was, why he stole the Jade and who our dad is, here is the answer;

||Basically, Jiang once stole the Jade and then got followed by the group with the black-outfits/the whole organization. He succeded to find a place where he could hide and also teach us some skills. He and the Aunt were basically our step-parents and teached us a lot of stuff.
Jiang however decided to leave the MC and the Aunt randomly and was away for several years. He then came back (he tried to use a different outfit, so the MC doesn't recognize him) and stole our Jade (basically the cutscene where we needed to choose a name for the MC.
The reason why he did was basically, that he wanted to be sure that the people in black don't think that the MC is somehow connected to Jiang, so he doesn't need to be afraid to get attacked by them.

Regarding our dad;
You may saw this picture. This is our dad. He was once a very popular and big general and there are multiple trailers where you can see him fighting solo against a group of enemies.
Our Dad took Jiang into his family (when Jiang was still a kid) and that would basically mean, that Jiang is actually our step big-brother (kinda).
But we still call him Uncle, cuz this is the more polite way how to call someone who is older than you and which you respect.

The game didn't 100% confirmed that this is our dad, but it's like very very likely and it would make (lore-wise) sense. Also the community has the same opinion on that.

Jiang Yan's name "晏Yan" means Peace and tranquility in the world(海晏河清，天下太平), and Yan is also same pronounse as 燕云十六州( the 16 prefectures, Yan Yun Shi Liu Zhou, Yan is also a name to call a place)

Kaifeng was the first actual story-chapter, but also this is not finished. We just got the (I think) final quest for Kaifeng few days ago

They decided to conclude the bigger part of the kaifeng-story within the release and added Hexi, which is basically (more or less) a interlude story-quest, later and now they came back to Kaifeng and finished the storyline there.
