Add more people, and allow users to create personas of themselves (or anyone they want) but restricted to "unlisted". Also espcially avoid becoming Character.ai.

EveryThing is/has been the same.

I just attempted to access Portraits (now) I was able to Sign-In, this is only my second successful attempt.

I did not keep count of the un-successful attempts, but there was enough to be annoying, and for me to come here looking for answers.

Just cheked this capability out - pretty impressive for scaling knowledge engagements for specific focus areas.

I can see this being a nice side- hustle for scaling knowledge access and experience that would be hard to get otherwise. I wonder how hard this is to train and set the guardrails on.

Very impressed with this so far... does a nice job of navigating conversataions and staying relevant.

So in other words the individuals that are shown in the portraits are personas representative of a particular discipline through which the knowledge base of the Gemini system can be focused prior to being expressive ?

I could agree with that assumption - maybe a system prompt with persona and RAG/Graph-RAG for contextual information discovery/support using available guidance (e.g. books, publications, brain dumps). Best Guess by observation of the engagements.

Just the thing I needed as I am facing a quite difficult career choice. It is really a great use case. I feel the only thing that could make it really useful would be if the flow could be more like an actual consulting session where the portrait would seek all the relevant info from the user to help make a personalized choice. Currently it is optional. If the user voluntarily doesn't offer it, the portrait will still give generic recommendations. Also can the portrait be accessed via APIs to allow more specific applications to be built on top of this? Overall this is just awesome. Cheers 🙂

Okay, Feature Request for Portraits: 1. Ability to use Custom Portraits and

2. The ability use NBLM Sources and ability to limited access to this feature in NBLM and proper access to Gemini.

This got a lot of IP Issues written all over it. But, A Lot of Potential if done right and away from the legal issues. I am interested to see the future of this experiment

Out of curiosity, since the Google Form doesn't mention it, are there any creators on the Portrait team's "wishlist" or subject areas in particular?

Additionally...what would the person who's replicated in a portrait still have ownership over in terms of their work and ideas? (e.g. a podcast host who specializes in insightful and science backed motivation and growth episodes and has a large following of their own. What's an example of a negative outcome for their brand due to creating a Google Portrait of them? I don't know enough about Portrait to get more specific or want to get more specific in the example). What's "given" by the portrait that could "take" from the person IRL?

I know a person who doesn't need to expand their audience or find another revenue stream and people would benefit greatly interacting with a Portrait of them...it's a shame it's not more straightforward/clear how to pitch things

Also, Nir Eyal is NOT an influencer; he literally wrote a book in 2013 to create "habit-forming products" that many influencers may have read to pick up tips, but that's not his shtick. He's a writer and behavior design researcher, in addition to having founded and sold companies previously. That's not to say it's not a marketing technique, but IMO I don't think it's a crappy funnel but it could DEFINITELY end up that way if it's pay to play vs. Google requests them to have a Portrait...which, again, I'd be more willing to pitch someone if I knew it wasn't going to complicate their lives/what they already have going on. Definitely a turn off to not know even a little more about what the exchange is, especially with intellectual property and such

I'm playing with Portraits, but for it to be really useful, I'm trying it for a story for a presentation I need to make, it takes a ton of effort and commitment. And still, there's no way to save the session. It's quite disappointing that the entire effort can be gone if I close or reload the window.

For this to be useful for real, and not just a lab toy, we need persistence. A Canvas as in Gemini could be quite helpful too to build up the story. Or a plan as in Antigravity to track progress.

I tried Portaits and accessed the Silicon Valley Girl. FYI -- Here's some quick, immediate feedback (IMHO!) : 1- The answers are pretty general and long winded, but can contain some useful information. 2- The voice is expressive, but still sounds artificial because it is always expressive in the same way. 3- The information is not up-to-date. For example, she was not aware of Google I/O 2026. She was also not aware of what the other Portraits were. 4- The drawing is really off-putting: she's talking but the picture (not that great a Portrait) just stays there unmoving. 5- Although she can mention other projects, she is not connected in any "agentic" or direct way to connect to them functionally. She was not able to even provide the URL to access the program she mentioned (Google Gamma). 6- In a series of prompts/questions, one of the answers stopped in the middle with a **Wha and three dots.. 7- She lists X on her profile, but her X account is suspended.
