@west stirrup I have a suggestion for MusicFX DJ. While the interface's bottom panel showing new instruments and sounds is helpful, it would be better with a search feature. This would allow users to search for instruments and sounds by genre (for example, horror theme music) or type (like orchestral instruments). When searching, the system should suggest all relevant tools for creating that specific kind of sound. This feature would be particularly helpful for beginners who are learning to create music.

Hi, I' m Daniele a CG/HCI researcher at UCL(London) and I was trying to do something similar with audiocraft in XR with speech and sketch interaction that provided inputs for the generative model but music-fx dj is astonishing. Is there a python API to work with? I'm focusing now on multimodal creative XR (possibly multi-user, we have a social vr platform that supports easily that), and I'm particularly interested in audio at the moment.

I'm absolutely blown away! I think it's incredible that string instruments have been emulated with vibrato and dynamics, far far better than how MIDI generators sound! The MusicFX DJ with its perpetual audio generation is fascinating, and the color visualition is brilliant!!
It even brings in the low quality/scratchy sounds when you ask for lo-fi!

But otherwise, it's really really good, I'm going to start using it more to generate perpetual background music while I'm studying!

musicfx DJ handles transitions really well wasn't sure what I was going for on this one but ended up in some funky almost monstercat vibes -- the way the tool quickly interpreted 'spacey' and blended it together really impressed me

Why hasn't the MusicFX model been updated with the new Lyria model? I mean, MusicFX DJ is good, but the normal MusicFX is still not great. Show some love to MusicFX and TextFX; there's a lot of potential there. I mean, YouTube Create has some cool music generation tools, and even Google Arts & Culture has some cool music generation tools.

This bug has been there since the release of musicfx dj. If you remove the instrument from the live, reset the music, and press the play button, it never plays the music again, no matter how many times you try. This also happens when you add or remove an instrument.

I've been prompting my way into adding some features using the code assistant, it's kind of slow though so this is an early work in progress ( not surprised considering the main file is around 3-4k lines of code )

Note: It did remove a few things I haven't gotten around to adding back in like the nice colours in the background or the random genres/moods when loaded in.

Doing all of this without touching a line of code is insane, I did have to look into the code a few times specifically the CSS and point it out and had to track back a few times but this is still amazing ❤️

I'm absolutely loving using this. I love singing and feeling my music but don't have any theoretical or technical knowledge around instruments so this is perfect for something like me. I'd love to be able to download those snippets. And be able to build a library of prompts. And start different projects. Oh and it would be supercool if there was a way you could integrate vocals into it as well. Both random vocals (Ai generated words or even scatting/improv) so I can hear what a lyrical melody might sound like to accompany the music, and if I could upload text and have it sing a melody it designs to accompany the music I'm making. I think this could be a great tool for democratising music composition, or even helping band members and musical artists communicate their vision for a finished track to each other before working on a finished product. For that reason I think it's great that the interface is simple and intuitive and not too complicated with too many options for someone who doesn't really know what they're doing when it comes to making music. If you were thinking about making it more of a composition device. Then being able to save and sequence snippets together might be useful. I think it would be cool if you could upload a piece of text and have MusicFX extract from it a series of prompts that it thinks will best represent the emotional content of the text and let's me play around with the different levels. Like say if someone wrote the lyrics to a song but had no idea what it might sound like. LLMs already do this pretty well, but perhaps even integrating a special mode for lyrical composition where user can just describe what they want the song to be about and have AI generate the lyrics to the song. What makes this program so much cooler than the others is that it isn't too overwhelming with options but it doesn't just give me the finished product track either it lets me play around with (some of) the knobs. Talk to the TextFX guys about integration.

hey there with MusicFX DJ, you can press this button, which saves the project to your library. if you then click the "open in new tab" button, you'll be taken to said library where you'll see a download button! that'll save it to your device as a .wav file

Lately I noticed this strange thing happening in MusicFX. Where it generates empty spaces, I don't know if its a bug or a "intended" generation... (Example bollow as attachment)
And another feed back to Music FX. I think pervious version was way better where you were able to select how long the music should be. Now it generates 3 tracks that are eather simmilar or sometimes with a little luck it sounds like "continuation" of the first one... It clogs the mediathek tab so that you need to sit for like 15 minuts and remove tracks that you dont want.
How about you do something like, generate one track of 30 sec, as it is now but than if you like how it came out, extend that track, to eather match the 1:30 minuts or extend generate another 30 seconds. In my oppinion would be way better solution to what it is right now

I’ve had another idea kicking around that would combine this dynamic soundtrack into a “Audiosurf” style interactive game. Focused on a ship flying through a winding wormhole that reacts to the music directly.

Most initial builds have failed miserably sadly. Will keep toying with it. The idea of dynamic audio and visuals that react to the music / the music reacts to the game itself is what I keep coming back to.

Requesting to add a feature: "create your own sound" to "musicfx DJ" and/or MusicFX.
i.e.
First, the user uploads an existing sound(.wav,mp3,etc) or uses the microphone to record a sound. Second, write a prompt to alter that sound: "Make a low pitch version of this sound with an echo". The output should be generated off the original sound plus the prompt.

I think this could help people get the sounds they have in their head more easily into the track via beatbox, vocal sounds, or if they want to record a sound to leverage

MusicFX isn't the same anymore.
The same prompts give different results now. Fixed length outputs, no custom tags in the tag-based system, and the three variations all sound nearly identical
its a real shame, it was a unique model (suno sounds nothing alike) so there's no alternative

I wish there was any way out there to use the original Lyria 1 model to make more lo-fi stuff like this

The variations used to sound very different from each other, but the three variations they give you in the new version are so much more homogenous

the last two files I posted for each set both use the same prompt but with two different presses of the Generate button

Why bother removing the ability to use custom tags, when there seems to already be a wide variety available from the small selection at the bottom? Why not make a list or search box to select from all available tags?

If Lyria 1 would be considered deprecated, why can't it be uploaded to/hosted on HuggingFace like Meta does with their experimental music models (e.g. MusicGen)?

This is a tribute song to a character from a game, describing her funeral. I worked quite extensively with Gemini to create it, giving it a lot of lore. It got really confused by a couple of things: its nature was to be a pretentious poet who kept on looking to fabricate "meaning" where there was none. When I provided supporting imagery, it latched on to that creation a little too hard. And after the KV cache for Gemini reset, it totally lost the plot. A little careful AI context surgery was able to put it back on the path, but that required some insight into Gemini's workings. As I tried to fight the poet, it began to apply a "literalist" lens to the song and that destroyed the already established understandings. When I realized that, and told Gemini, things started to fall into place. Decoupling the mythological character of Finnabair from the game character (and resolving the Medb / Mab and Ailill / Oberon conflations) grounded the AI in the game lore once again.

Since Gemini takes your lyrics and figures out how to put them to music, knowing what the lyrics actually meant to me was important (hence the lore dump and extensive meaning refinement).

Part of the reason Gemini lost the plot was my own carelessness in speaking of things not related to the topic in the context. Gemini's pivot posture worked against both of us there.
