feels like an electric car if that makes sense
no yeah i getcha
the haulers math is a bit funky because it's using my old scanvans drivetrain system when it was an automatic
but i think it "works well enough" for the hauler
there's also some other physics wizadry working in the back to not make it a complete slog
like, it will use the difference in wheel rpm between the front and rear wheels and lessen or increase torque to a wheel, basically a hacky code way of having a locked differential
which should aid in getting over terrain
you cant start the hauler when set in drive right?
has to be in park
just like my old scanvan
although my scanvan also required holding the brake pedal down
which is the "brake shift interlock"
but having to break while starting might be a bit confusing
that is what real automatics have right?
but if i did add it, it would also be to shift out of park, just like my old scanvan as well
yes
to start it must be in park and you must depress the brake pedal
then to shift out of park you must hold the brake down and shift
for now its just "must be in park" to start
as it's much easier for people to figure out without it being written in the manual
since i'm too lazy to update the manual right now and doing the manual is not my strongest suite
last time i drove an automatic was when i took driving lessons
manuals are still very common in Europe
same
or, in correct technical terminology "6 speed with reverse"
i only ever hate it when stuck in a traffic jam at an incline
inclines aren't too bad if you know how to hillstart
stuck in traffic does suck in a manual yes
especially in my fucking car specifically
depends on how step it is i tend to use the handbrake a lot
how so?
you have to be razer precise with the clutch in my car
stop start traffic just kinda fuckin sucks in it
i guess an older car then?
yes
2008 ford ka
like this
the worlds greatest automobile don't let anyone tell you otherwise
looks are deceiving but this thing dates back to 1996 and was very popular here
they're also future classics!
i have a 2009 renault clio so somewhat similar?
very striking and revolutionary car
i mean a ka and a clio have nothing in common other than being small city cars
does its job for a first car ig but i want to get a new one at some point
the ka is absolutely one of my favourite city cars (my parents had one for years, bias much..) but it is just such a striking car in terms of looks, especially for something that came out of 1996
i dont know too much about cars they just have a similar size and similar year ig
This is a promotional film for the brand-new Ka. Its features include an innovative headlamp design, a rotating storage container and enhanced safety features such as anti-submarining seats. The Ka is marketed as a vehicle "for individual, unique people". This generation was replaced in 2008 by a new version developed by Fiat.
such a sawesome vehicle
they're basically all but gone on roads here now
and their prices have ballooned up
i have never ever seen that car before
it was fords first production car to use the "new edge" styling
yeah it does not have that box like look a lot of older cars have
ford was absolutely playing a dangerous game with making such a striking looking car
but it
..worked
cars nowadays just seem unreasonable big for no reason
a lot of parking spaces arent even made for them
yeah it looks tiny
it's very tall inside
i'm shy of 6'2
and have plenty of headroom
it's not a large car, but it fits me just fine
yeah probably fine if you dont have 4 people all the times in the car
i mean
i've had 4 people in it
it's a 4 seater
i don't really like having that many people though
sensory overload
most important thing for me in a car is that it is reliable
i dont want to bring it to the repair shop every month
That's fair
the only thing that broke for me so far were the rear shield wipers
it would be nice to have a car that can go a bit faster or is *less noisy * but not really necessary tbh
same but it will still be very load when going fast
also as a sidenote the collect items thingy works for the hauler
Oh yeah scandal! Have you thought about adding seats in the back?
Or is the idea scrapped?
Sorry, for the Scanvan, I forgot this was the Hauler thread
"The Company Rammer"
The Scandalicopter
scandal has said multiple times that he doesnt really wanna do that stuff
im still really sad at the scrapped tiny car he was working on
would have been so cool hehe
Oh yeah I remember that one!
I am just messing around btw lol
but vehicles take sooooo long to make, that yeah putting all that effort for something you are not 100% sure might not be the best idea
hehe yheah im just replying to everyone
helicopters, tanks, bikes
none of that!!!!
I still want. To make the Company Copter (CC for short)
here we only have the best quality and most realistic cars possible!!
and i still want a bike hehe
tho tbh a helicopter would fit much better in like code rebirth
That’s funny
Im joking
hi joking im cheese
Bruh…
i mean.. this car is still permanently glued at the back of my mind..
Lol sick
The custom cruiser might unironically be harder to drive than the normal company cruiser
probably
Its a sign to play with it
it feels a lot heavier then the cruiser and old hauler
in a good way tho
he's referring to the blue wagon above
which is called an oldsmobile custom cruiser
anyways, the cruiser and the "old hauler" had basically the same weight and stats
the hauler just had "better suspension" but it was still fundementally the same amount of weight
yes, because it weighed 220kg, only 20kg more than the cruiser
lol
the cruiser weighs 200
hauler weighs 220
well
used to
they were both hilariously underweight and the cruiser still is hilariously underweight
my friend made me remove it cuz it flipped over too easy lol
i will miss loud horn button tho…
old american wagons were nutoriously heavy and terrible to drive
more like steering the titanic than anything
it's where the term "landyacht" stems from
what does new truck weigh?
this wasn't because of weight
800kg, it's still underweight but it's not as hilariously bad
it feels much more weighty in comparison to the old hauler
and that's fine
as long as it works better in gameplay and doesn't have egregious physics i'm happy
it feels so much more unique now
this wasn't a weight problem
this was just due to some funky physics problem
that was kind of my goal
i don't like when every vehicle just feels like another cruiser
i think setting a baseline that vehicles can be expressive and unique in their own ways is healthy
glojam did a great job differentiating it with no boost and no eject
well the no eject was a given because of the roof so it made sense
the no boost was just a balancing thing
i don't think that is what differentiated the hauler though
really?
yea but i mean replacing it with horn was a creative idea
the eject i guess isn't as important
yea
the horn was interesting and i would've kept it as i want to respect glojams design as much as possible, however:
the button glass just did not fit properly and awkwardly clipped into stuff
i think it is too goofy for a gimmick that isn't really that helpful as it just attracts a bunch of dogs to you
true
prolly more effort than it’s worth but my friend managed a pretty cool play using it
like he lured dogs over and tanked
prolly didn’t really need the horn to do that even but it was pretty cool still
i mean
you can just blare the cars normal horn
i guess
and attract dogs to yourself
and probably explode the car
anyways, the new hauler is certainly more interesting to drive than the old one
you have the scanvan to thank for that because it reuses some of its old drivetrain logic from when it used to be an automatic
it will probably never be as engaging as say my scanvan, but that's not something i could inherently change, and i guess i'm not all that bothered by it
it's kind of hard to make an automatic car "engaging" to drive
because it's like, put it in drive and just hold W i guess
v2.0.5
- hopefully fixed a desync with the hood
hood still desynced
are we serious
sigh
i'll look into it in a bit
i don't exactly know what's wrong with the hood
currently hung up doing some work to my v55 cruiser 🙂
is it just like
the hood is local
instead of opening for all clients
for some people it is closed for others it is open
sigh
this is such a dumb desync
this is going to be annoying and i haven't even begun looking into it
okay, i should have a fix for the hood, i'm going to test it first, and if all is well i'll be pushing 2.0.6
also did you change the enemies that can get run over
not really, why?
this is vanilla cruiser behaviour as well
nuts are never meant to be outside in the first place so i'm sure you can understand why zeekerss "never accounts for this"
it won't anymore
this is because CI was restoring "small enemy damage" behaviour from v55
which was a fix for baboons/masked
but those are fixed as of v80 since zeeks adjusted their internal size
plus, it was allowing ganking the fox as of v80
which zeekerss intentionally changed the size of
to prevent it being ran over instantly
so this would mean nuts fall under "small enemy" category
and therefore cannot be killed by car
anyways, the haulers enemy damage is basically "identical to vanilla"
i hope you can understand my reasoning for nuking it from CI too
it wasn't just nutcrackers, in specific
it is any enemy that falls under the size of equal to or less than 1
so "small" basically
even if CI still had this behaviour restored it wouldn't affect the new hauler anyways
but CI does not have this behaviour anymore
so this is actually "intended behaviour" on zeekerss part
because he adjusted the enemies size internally rather than reverting the enemy damage behaviour to like how it was in v55
i see
and again you have to remember
indoor entities basically never go outdoors anyways
so it's not something he'd take into consideration for the base game anyways
etern..
etern is not a vanilla moon
i'm talking from a vanilla context
and what zeekerss is working within
the only enemy that goes indoor/outdoor is the masked
yeah
which had its size changed in v80 to allow it to be ran over
masked are now considered "medium"
rather than small like before
my v55 car can probably run over nuts and any "small" enemies because it uses pure v55 enemy damage behaviour (and yes it can gank the fox)
but i'm not going to change that, of course
ig it is fair cruiser was kinda op against the outside enemies
you are still mostly invincible to them but you can only push them now
old cruiser being able to just instakill enemies at high speeds i guess is "fair" considering the rest of the car was just fragile garbage
instead of being able to farm shotguns
it is fine for giants because they take multiple hits
vehicles like the hauler are more intended to work within vanilla constraints i guess
and you risk them falling on you
in the hauler you have coded protection against this
same for my scanvan
and my v55 cars rear compartment
well again this is never something zeekerss would have to take into account in vanilla
because this interaction never happens in vanilla
i completely got sidetracked on actually fixing anything
ack
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
i see the issue
with the haulers hood
omfg
it wasn't sending the hood state via the rpc
it was just calling it with
open: true
fuck sake man, this is probably an issue on my other vehicles
gotta update all 3 ig
anyways, i'm going to be quickly testing my v55 car then pushing an update for all 3 of my vehicles that should fix the hood desync
update pushed
