#The Cabinet

but my point about the cabinet not being a mimic still stands
This is an "annoying" death that only ever happens once during someone's experience
and if it happens again.. that's really on them
Cabinets have a bestiary entry
No, people not being literate enough to read it most of the time I'd say would still not justify its removal
Exactly. Trial and error. Cabinet clearly doesn't want to be opened. If you immediately assume it's beneficial to keep trying the doors it's on you when it turns out to be a mistake.
Literally poking a bear with a stick
You're also given time to escape them, anyways :v
It's not an instant death
I've seen people literally walk around eyeless dogs during their first encounter with one,,, Or stand in full view of a forest keeper
I've seen Zeekerss mention in the Patreon channel before that infestations occuring on someone's first Experimentation run is funny, including getting ghost girl alongside all the hoarding bugs :v
Lethal Company is no stranger to bullshit deaths, whether deliberate or accidental, but ultimately it's apart of the fun and worldbuilding, and led the game to its success
This ain't no Minecraft
Yeah I thought forest keepers were unfair AF, until I found out how effective hiding behind trees is against them
Yeag
GAH!
@cinder hawk i guess we adding it back
the longer anger meter stays though
1.5 seconds is wild though, yes
I've had a coil-head and cabinet combo in Mineshaft that led to an unavoidable death :v
I personally bumped it up to three seconds, but I guess four works too
But yeah I would roll with this still. Modpack creators can balance the anger timer to fit with their their tastes if it's that big a deal, and making "witnessing" the cabinet give you level one fear will make sure the player understands they're in danger
I saw Purple bump it up to a whopping eight in his modpack lol
What's the fear effect thing?
i thouhgt that already happened
i remember fooxynn adding fear effects
the thing that happens in vanilla
Like when you see a body and your screen gets distorted and the choir like sound kicks in
Well, I know that
But for the cabinet
Are you suggesting a subtle fear effect when their legs are exposed?
when you see it you shit brix
Yeah, there's two levels of the fear effect
Yeah, that'd be cool
Forest giant does a similar thing. When it first sees you but isn't chasing it triggers level one fear, so you hear a subtler version of the chorus. Only when it starts running after you, does it trigger level two and distort the screen
Unrelated funny idea: If you happen to get a cabinet in a spot where you can "look up their skirt" by either having them stop while pathing down from the top to the bottom of the Manor's foyer, or Mineshaft/Manor stairs, they should growl after a lil' bit then get pissed off from you staring at their legs lol
I imagine a similar thing can be done with cabinet, where level one is when you see the legs only and it grows at you, and when it's fully angry you get level two
That's a gud point
yippeee
Though, I still think that 1.5 seconds is way too low
uhm im pretty sure i added fear to the cabinets tho
maybe thats another thing borked :C
Most combos like irritated hoarding bugs, thumpers, or butlers + cabinet almost always lead them to getting aggravated
3 seconds I feel like is enough time for you to recognize that the cabinet you're either knowing or unknowingly looking at is getting irritated, and run to safety away from their line of sight
Also the thing is, I've seen many people complain about how hard it is to deal alongside a coilhead, and to that I say...
First of all, what did you expect when putting together an enemy you aren't supposed to look at, and an enemy you are?
Second of all, if you keep a cool head you can often counter play easily. For instance; run behind a door and close it, face coilhead and run towards the cabinet, look downward and run backwards to keep the coilhead a minimum distance away and avoid far away cabinet.
All part of experimenting
The problem is that the solution is RNG-based, and often doesn't work :v
I've tried stuff like that
But I guess if we're absolutely sure, bump it up a bit. 4 seconds is kinda excessive though
It works when it works, but for the most part, looking at the cabinet is inevitable
Which is why I think 3 seconds hits the mark well :v
I made cabinets invincible in my modpack anyways, so.. there's that
Purple in tears
I generally don't like going to simply "kill the entity" when discussing balance though
Anyway, I'm much more okay with 3
He nerfed the crap out of cabinets, Idk why 😭
Well, tbf his modpack is combat-oriented, but still
Because he does solo runs on a hard Modpack and quits to orbit when he dies
And I guess eventually got sick of it getting angry while he's fighting other things
I've been savescumming less and less recently :v I've realized the reason why I'm getting burnt out of Lethal Company is because I'm giving myself no challenge
Taking the L has been a lot more refreshing than just chickening out
Likely the case
Every time I played like that, I got bored.
It took me a while to realize why I was getting bored
update regarding the people sayin that cabinet is borked : it is not ?
i just tested everything looks fine
did you update both the game and the mod ?
1.12.1
- Re-added the feature where the Cabinet would eventually get angry after trying to open it
I can update cabinet now
-# yes, I suffered the change from 1.12.0 deeply
If people were dying to it normally that was a problem for them
