But it doesnt always mean that in a bad way, there hasnt been all that much lethal content releasing lately, and since repo came out, many people play that game over this one. The game is great and the content is too, its just unfortunatelly cooked.

i guess this does also for the locker to be more suddenly jarring, but its too loud and flashy imo
the only thing about the cabinet is the jester already exists and i dont know if zeekerss would make or consider two "box enemies" existing together

We are used to there being different specifies of insects that look kinda similar, meanwhile two fictional enemies with very similar designs may stick out as being repetitive
roaming locusts and circuit bees use the exact same model, but thats understandable because a normal person wouldnt bother to closely inspect the model of them, especially since they are small in game, the only difference is one is red (circuit)
and yeah like adjective said, its not that there cant be multiple of a specific genus
its just that the cabinet and the jester are both boxes

they both dont have natural origins, they just exist as weird vaguely human-like limbs that inhabit a box
and thats not really a problem per-se, but in the context of if zeekerss made both, he would probably only use one
every monster has a very distinct model and design choices, except for roaming locusts and circuit bees using the same model
but i gave the explanation why this particular case doesnt matter as much
the jester and the cabinet are very big standouts and since every other monster has unique attributes to their appearance, two monsters that are human-like limbs hiding inside a box isnt very likely to exist in pure vanilla

every vanilla "manor enemy" is either a toy turned into horror, or a full human figure that has unnatural properties, and the nutcracker is technically both
zeekerss hasnt made fake furniture or fake walls or anything that would be part of the building itself as a monster
i still love the cabinet regardless, i just dont think it would exist as a zeekerss creation
his focus on monsters is more so that they would be their own separate objects from that of whatever building you are in
if he were to create a monster that is trying to blend in with the building, it would have to either change its appearance based on the interior, or every interior has to have one of the same prop

The cabinet is the deadliest thing in the mansion after the jester it does not NEED to hide to kill you
bracken also aggros faster for non-host because the status of where they are looking or standing is lagging behind from host

My "friend" is too busy playing world of tanks that he won't help me test the mod
I need to see what give the best results for the stun mechanic and doing so in solo doesn't give full informations
And testing stuns is borderline impossible alone with multiple instances of the game

legitimately i think the bigger problem is how fast the cabinet begins aggro by default
its 2 seconds
for one, thats really aggressive
but more importantly, if it was like, 8, then players can more easily pick up that staring at its true form is what aggros it
because it starts convulsing and growling
the longer it does it, the more time players get to process thats what aggros it
but also, it growls louder if it takes longer
yet another tell for the cause

It is not completely false.
LC does provide adequate information to help new players, but that does not mean it could still be better about communication. The importance of the clipboard or terminal is not made apparent at all, and in game design needing less reading to understand the mechanics is considered good practice (see the FNaF fangames that make you read a college thesis before each night).
Making things more apparent to players is not even that hard.:
- The ship loudspeaker could say āconsult the trailing clipboard for more informationā in the opening monologue for a new save
- Terminal defaults to the command list page rather than its current home screen when you open it so you see the available commands
- When you can an enemy for the first time, the ācreature data sent to terminalā message could also mention the bestiary
Lethal Company in general is good about making the game intuitive enough for you to get by without reading up, but like everything there is always room for improvement.

- the home screen clearly says to type "help"
- why would it need to do that if the terminal clearly displays the bestiary exists after typing "help"

but im also not expecting the game to flash giant red arrows so i know what to do
the game provides enough info for a player to learn how to play

The game's information is all diagetic. It is very clear about it, though. You literally either just read the first few sentences on the terminal or use the only interactable item that always spawns on the ship
I just think that if it is so widespread then it stops being a user issue after a while. Zeekerss added those new player pop-ups so clearly he had this issue in mind

- Because it is redundancy for the sake of the player. The game already has examples of this for other things
i would assume the home screen is both a way to reduce information overload, and to just be a welcoming way to transition into the UI
its also immersive because a real life terminal computer would behave this way when its turned on initially

You look at irl employee handbooks and they are pretty cut and dry besides legal stuff
i do like how they sometimes give you either incorrect information or misleading non-information, that was a pretty charming part of the early experience to me and added onto the feeling of "this company is so dogshit everything they provide to us sucks"

that was always the thing about LQ that threw it off for me
i feel like centralconfig and lunar not needing a different website is more convient than easy

that doesnt really make lots of sense tbh, its just one more step, and thats just if you added smth big, since LQ saves your last file in the website so its not that far off from using mod manager to config
if having to open a folder once being considered unconvenient then having to open the config files should also be unconvenient
in that case just doing stuff inside of lethal without having to restart it every time you make a significant chage would be the best option, which it isnt possible so idk

spectating my friends with cabinet has made me realize that its literally like if an EXTREMELY addressable elephant was consistently following you so your team swear to never address it and its really really funny to me now thinking of it like that

There is something else which happens most of the time you encounter it, you mightve just gotten unlucky. I put it in spoilers which I dont recommend checking if you want to experience it for yourself

You can put scrap on top of it and itll follow you around carrying your scrap, but if you look at it for too long while its standing then itll become aggressive. Sometimes it just doesnt follow you for some reason?||
Yeah lol when me and my friends find it for sum reason it likes to ||chill near the entrance, which is honestly cool within itself. The scrap thing is cool though, I'm def telling my friends its friendly XD ||

all it does is make people die without finding out what the cabinet does
if they could open it to learn it's a creature and then be unable to do anything to it they'd be more likely to try to keep an eye on it before leaving it alone and actually figure out the not looking at it gimmick

If anything this mechanic enhanced the experience for several groups im in, one group was super curious about it, tried opening it, looked at each other and started laughing, left the room and cabinet mechanica proceeded as usual. Another group im in helped realize you could place items on it by how the open trick suggested it was functional in some way
Plus its a real neat part of it, to mess with friends going like ooooh we're gonna open it haha
Almost like in early lethal company days in which people play "jester chicken" and wait by the main entrance andleave as late as they could before it got them
What happened in the instance with the person being confused in the cabinet seems to just be an offshoot occurrence of the cabinet not following the player after having encountered it, just sorta bugged out there ig?
Plus it helps communicate that if you dont keep messing with it then its basically chill, thats the whole gameplay with the cabinet

Some values have been changed in the config file, you may want to regenerate it.
- Increased the stun duration
- Increased the time you can look at the Cabinet before it gets angry
- Removed the feature where the Cabinet would eventually get angry after trying to open it
It really isn't
The entity growls every time you attempt to open it
If you piss it off from that, that's entirely your fault
The conveys to the player completely well to not attempt that
Once you leave it alone, then you'll notice them beginning to follow you
This feels like a half-baked opinion that sapped some of the charm out of the entity
This is a horror/comedy game, the point of the entities upon first encounter is to figure out their gimmick without being abundantly clear (For the most part)
Which is why so many funny moments are made from mistakes :v
I also feel like the growling also makes it more clear that the entity doesn't like their true form looked at
The cabinet is now just an inverse coil-head with a timer
I hope i dont come off as pestering about this or anything since I said it earlier too, but I wish it were at least an option to have it or not. Its quirky and its a cool feature
And this removal was born from someone going to the entity's thread and talking about it, rather than experimenting with them like how you do with new vanilla entities

Yeah and I thought screaming at baboons made them back off. Just because a player hasn't interacted with it doesn't mean it's a bad design choice.
If anything it reinforces the idea that it wants to be hidden.
It also makes a very clearly creature-like sound when you try to open it, so it's not even a question of the player not knowing what it is
With that said... I think v80 might have broken something, because I've encountered cabinet a few times in modpacks and he kinda just... Hasn't done anything?

At 4 seconds of anger timer I'd be shocked to ever actually trigger the thing
And removing the opening anger is really boring too. It could have been reworked slightly if it was that big of an issue

I would say re-enable the door pulling mechanic, and put the anger Meter back at 1.5 seconds, BUT add the fear effect AND a config for it instead

In my opinion, as long as the extra mechanic isn't causing major problems that require extensive work to fix, I feel it adds that little extra charm to the monster.
Just because someone made a video on it that ignored literally everything else doesn't mean we gotta change it.
How many times have you seen people encounter coilhead for the first time and instantly turn to run, dying because of it?
I myself thought you had to keep looking at the bracken to ward it off the first time I played the game, and I died because of it.
There's even that one clip of Markiplier thinking a spore lizard was a thumper and panicking.
Experimentation and trial and error is a critical part of this game.
If a player sees the cabinet, touches the doors, and concludes that's all there is to it, they're setting themselves up for getting jumped later when they turn around and see it sneaking up.
