My friends and I need some help. During our Halloween run, we noticed that the Majora Moon weather doesn’t progress. Even when we take the Majora Mask to accelerate time, the timer doesn’t appear — not even the special effects, music, or sound effects show up. (Also, the Shy Guy painting wasn’t triggering or spawning the enemy)
Today I cleaned the modpack and tested the Majora Moon weather again, and the issue still persists. I do have a log for that one though! 🙂

but yeah ccode is right, this function was moved and i didnt know

if you want, you can actually fix that by disabling the automatic model selection config
until i fix it

idk how exactly it can happen but on one of my runs i had 4 forest giants outside (old bird was killing everything)
so the resurrection can make you have monsters above their own personal cap
I'll see if I can manage something but I'm not sure how I'll get this to work
Personal cap is only for monsters that are spawned naturally so yeah I guess that can happen

we found a very ultimate strang bug with the Majora's Mask
I know it's not an item that a lot of people want wasted since it's worth a lot, but, if some malicious people is wearing it to transform into an enemy, it's supposed to summon a masked which is super buffed + 4 additional normal masked of the player
That is what is expected
But apparently, it now summons totally random monsters like spore lizard, locker, scp enemies etc etc wtffff 🗿 💀

I think some would find farming nutcrackers and such quite fun. Like for mine, i intend to have blood moon be a very rare but highly profitable weather, like CR meteor shower (30s respawn time as well)
Actually, maybe a good idea is being able to set a CHANCE for resurrected enemies like Nutcrackers to drop their item, could be cool

The weather does not start with enemies already spawned, it increased power levels for outside enemies by 10 and inside enemies by 5
The difficulty levels affects the spawn cycle of the enemies on the moon, "Easy" is a normal spawn cycle, "Normal" is the eclipsed spawn cycle and "Hard" is the same as "normal" but with +1 enemy in the cycle
The spawn cycle is like a mechanism in the vanilla game where the game will try to spawn enemies at specific hours of the day, and eclipsed tries to do it very often (hourly?) at a 1 minimum per spawns
Hard as in it has normal spawn cycle but garentee's an additional enemy to spawn per cycle?
eclipsed forcefully makes each spawn cycle guaranteed to spawn a monster or monsters, its dependant on each moon, how many spawn per cycle, which happens every two hours
experimentation for example is only one monster per two hours
but offense is four, which is the highest, shared with dine and embrion
assurance and vow are also one
march is two
every other vanilla moon is three
so if you have hard enabled for blood moon, its plus one per cycle
so offense, dine, and embrion, become five per two hours
this isnt actually as scary as it sounds btw because theres still a power cap and embrion would completely fill indoor power by 9 AM already
its a more major effect during other moons

I just wanted to post my (very small roadmap for the following weeks/months), since im now working for real i dont have a lot of time to work on my mods + dont want to work on it evert day
So thats expected that im working slower than usual
So here you go
- Update LegendWeathers to add some configs
- Update SSS to add new feature suggested by a fellow friend
- Update CWT to modify some predefined weathers, and add config options
- Work on Biodiversity (already started)
- Update RandomMoonFX to add i dont know how much random features asked by players (oh mama)
Please expect the work to be slow, at least my mods are all working fine, all of that should be just some small tweaks here and there (all but biodiversity, thats something else)
I hope to see some more actual enemies in Biodiversity with you working on it, I often feel like Ogopogo is the only threatening thing 🙁

This is because the sun texture (vanilla) or blood moon texture (mod) are just texture high up in the sky that follows the player
Majora is a 3d model that is fixed in the sky but is coming closer and closer to the ground with the time
That's a 3d model into 2d texture situation
This can't be fixed (unless there is a way I don't know about) unless I remove the 2d texture

iirc WeatherRegistryWeather.CustomType will have the data if the weather is "normal", combined or progressing

i think it shouldnt be able to be insanely higher

a day in lethal company is 12 minutes, one hour in game is ~40 seconds
so that should be the limit i feel
you also have to remember its the timer until resurrection starts, the animation still has to play
and then theres a 2 second grace period every monster has before they can do any damage once they spawn in
so really it would be like, 48 seconds max
Thats not factoring in different modpacks that have different day speeds
I think the time should be configurable far beyond 30s, especially useful for modpacks where enemies drop their own scrap already and you might not want to be able to kill them every 30s for balancing reasons
For those that are fine with it, they can just use the current time
I see no reason why the config shouldnt support a higher amount for those that need it, we're not talking default values here
In my case, it's due to a powerful interaction between having SellBodies + Any kind of environmental kill on enemies + Blood Moon weather
If you bait an enemy into something to kill it (E.g. FairAI traps/Quicksand, TestAccount acid spitter, CR Crane, Lethal Doors Ship door, SciencebirdTweaks Facility Doors) and you earn something for doing so, it becomes insanely easy to kill them on loop, generating a huge amount of profit with little risk. They are often killed during that same grace-period animation you mentioned, making it even easier
Being able to increase the time beyond 30s to anywhere up to 5 mins would solve the issue in my case, as it wouldn't be practical to sit there that long and try to repeat the kill, and avoids issues with enemies just dying on loop too much in those specific scenarios
Such a change would have 0 impact on anyone else who doesn't increase the value that high
at that point the blood moons charm is being lost
what makes the blood moon so good compared to other weathers for me is the fact theres a profit potential without it being just cookie cutter "this is worth more now!!"
and that potential comes with the obvious risk of resurrection
if you make it take too long, at that point, the weather is basically free money no matter how much you try to tweak it to not be that, especially if youre using easy difficulty
what im saying is, there is a very good reason resurrection time shouldnt be able to be set so high
also this is not just an "issue" with mod packs or that specific mod, this kind of thing can happen with baboon hawks and eyeless dogs, right next to the ship no less
but i dont consider it an issue because of the fact the resurrection happens in the first place, which not only keeps bringing threats back, it constantly keeps expanding how much power is available for more stuff to spawn, which in turn makes trying to keep getting more blood stones very risky, because youre gonna have all 15 baboon hawks and all 8 dogs constantly stuck right at ship
if the resurrection time was too high, then this wouldnt be an effect anyone would have to worry about, and that strips away from the blood moon
also im gonna be completely honest
unless you heavily nerf it down, the mods that make every monster able to drop loot are really busted
and i dont think every monster should be able to do this in general
again, im fine with it happening during blood moon because there is a genuine risk attached to it, and that risk is implemented in a unique and fantastic way
but if you just keep getting free money for killing everything, especially if you really know what youre doing in general, which doesnt take a player very long to learn how, and would be encouraged to when presented with such possibility, then thats a bit silly id say
and minor nitpick: that goes against lethal companys main design philosphy, the game heavily discourages the player do combat, and its designed in a way it should be considered as last resort
except thumpers, idk how youre supposed to deal with them otherwise
im still fine with the limit being increased a bit, but too much is going to make it be less.. itself

But at the same time I'm always open to add more accessibility options so increasing the timer can be possible but not too much

Seems that upon loading the game, BepInEx corrects it to whatever the max is
In any case, after brainstorming for a while i think i have a solution on my end
Rather than try to fight the 30s respawn timer, i can play into it by making scraps worth less on the day via weather reg (Most goated mod, coming in clutch again)
Therefore making it balanced by making farming enemies the only source of profit on Blood Moon days when factoring in sell bodies and such
In my community we ran a temporary special version of my pack before where scraps were worth nothing and enemy bodies were worth a lot, and they loved it
So i can use Blood Moon as a way to reintroduce that in a limited capacity

I still strongly believe it should be configurable higher for accessibility so more users can find ways to make the weather work in their modpack. In any situation where you get a reward for killing enemies (not just scraps, but i imagine XP and such in stat leveling mods, or hell, vanilla might even add some kind of reward for killing enemies in the future, you never know) having it configurable above 30s would be very helpful and future-proof it
Everyone has different tastes, design philosophies and directions they think is the correct way to take the game, and so there is a lot of variation in modpacks. The mods i named (SellBodies, All the environment interacting with enemies mods etc.) are actually fairly common/popular mods, so i think others would benefit from it. I think allowing more configurability for those with differing ideas is the smart way to go, especially when its just raising the cap on 1 value (so no impact on any other user that doesnt raise it that high). To me, its a win-win situation
In any case, i've worked out a solution to it on my end but i think its worth considering

I was gonna ask about a config for the moon tear value, but from my testing, you can actually change the value via LunarConfig and it works

I do also see the default scrap value multiplier for the weather is just 1x, only the amount multiplier is higher, so i assume you accounted for that

Would it be possible to add in a blacklist for what enemies can revive during a Blood Moon? There's a few enemies that I kinda wanna prevent from respawning.
...also would it be possible to have the ship auto-leave when the timer during Majora's Moon hits 0? There were a few instances where I had the ship leave with some seconds left on the timer (Prob due to Late Game Upgrade's Quantum Disruptor which grants you more time on Moons as you buy upgrades for it, one instance I had the ship leave when there were 30 seconds left on the timer)
the moon explodes when the timer hits 0
the ship leaves 11 seconds before so you dont die in the explosion :3
or well the message of leaving happens 11 seconds before
if thats not happening to you that most likely has to do with what you mention
the mod doesnt work too well with varying times
zigzag has tried to fix it a few times but it doesnt seem to be an easy fix (or maybe no one reported happening hehe)

Like... preventing a blacklisted enemy from respawning, such as a Peeper from... the Peepers mod, or Cutie Flies / Monarchs from Code Rebirth, etc.
In one instance I had a Blood Moon weather as well as the vanilla meteor shower occuring on top of that and when a Cutie Fly gets damaged, it dies and a Monarch spawns and tries to hunt you down. I think Blood Moon kept reviving those enemies as it was dying to meteors and it was sorta tanking my FPS after awhile
Will need to check when I encounter a Majora's Moon again
to clarify, only player caused deaths count to damaging a cutiefly* (but other than that i agree that this would cause a problem with monarchs and cutieflies lol)
Me remembering when Cutieflies + FairAI's Quicksand = Death to your frames due to endless spawning of Monarchs & Cuiteflies

Imo I think enemies death in quicksand is not a good idea and that's sad that's it's not configurable because some times enemies can spawn directly on quicksand on March resulting in an instant death

I that case yeah I can certainly add a blacklist next time I update, but imo this is turning the mod into a bit too much configurable for my liking

I had the mod removed for awhile due to a few conflicts that I ran into, though I dunno if they were fixed. One such bug comes to my mind...
Rubber Boots Upgrade from Late Game Upgrades, lessens the movement penalty when going through water/quicksand, at least normally. If you had FairAI installed it somehow bugs out the upgrade and actually makes the movement penalty worse each time your travel through water/quicksand and this stacks... meaning that if you travel through those enough times... you'll end up getting softlocked
Wasn't aware of a speed up bug though.
Well for the speed up, we had a bug in our pack where walking in water (vanilla or modded) makes you a bit faster each step taken while in the water
I think this is caused by FairAI, but this could be a conflict, i see this #1188131837478981632 message referencing the issue but thats all

But yea, that's kinda the same bug if you had Rubber Boots when entering water/quicksand repeatly. Guess in that case it's applying a speed up instead of a slow down. (I dunno if in the clip the user had Rubber Boots, but eh)

- this is expected, when the weather is removed by any means and the mask hasnt been found already it will despawn
- this can happen if you have selected a high effect abundance in the config, try reduce it if it is not the default value
however, teleporting in and out should also cause your issue but maybe you don't notice it as easily as when using the facility door ?

Said creatures will move away after the kill, they're not guaranteed to attack the same thing immediately
Also there is a delay in the respawning.
The more likely culprits would be that mod that tries to make all enemies attack each other, and FairAI turrets if they can target + kill the enemies

Its so weird that sometimes eclipsed feels like it spawns enemies before blood moon

theres a deviation when spawns happen, plus some monsters take more time than others to properly pop in and begin moving

i died on artifice because a hoarding bug instantly aggroed on me for literally zero reason
it was moving, so it couldnt have from spawning on its nest and me being in the radius of it
i didnt stand near it before a single time, and the events that led to that happening in the first place had no sign of them
it led to death by mask hornets sandwhiching me
the only possibility is it was the exact same hoarding bug from main entrance, which i quickly abandoned
but if it actually was, thats absurdly fucking stupid because the area at fire wasnt remotely similar and artifices interior size is quite big for a hoarding bug to get back that quickly
and even if it wasnt the same one
what could have been their nest had no claimed items
