I wish there was a mod that brought back the old larger entrance room
But kept all of the new stuff

The entrance room was shrunk for technical reasons, the floors would be too spaced out to allow stair tiles to connect them together
So the interior would have a lot more isolated paths
I asked them if they'd make one

Looks like the same model, but without Chameleon the handles and locks are recessed into the door for some reason
one side of the door has its faces completely inverted
so on that side of the door the window is see-through, and the knobs appear to be broken visually
chameleon makes the door materials double sided to fix that (although the "better fix" would be fixing the actual mesh probably)
I thought this was about the gap between the door and the floor
I hope v80 revitalizes this mod
I believe it was said that there were plans to make it so people could make their own interior variants at some point in the future
I mean I wouldn’t call it dead, it just was mainly feature-complete
Some of us (including me) would like more customization, but Buttery has never been overly focused on that in any of her mods
like variants from vanilla or wdym?
Mayeb an easy implementation for devs? Or maybe a way to add our own textures? Kinda curious about it too

like how Gorgonzola has cheese mines, I think those aren't a new interior internally
a long time ago i wanted to implement a component that moon authors could add to their scene
with a texture for the mineshaft caverns to use
and then if that map generated a mineshaft it would use the texture provided by that component (unless users overrode it in their config)
i never actually got around to doing that because i wasnt sure how many people would use it anyway
i think cheese caves for the cheese moon was the only example immediately cited as relevant
anyways yeah idk
it does upset me a little bit that people want more from this mod and yet my general level of motivation for working on it remains so low
it's just kinda disappointing for all involved parties
i still have a small wishlist of items to work on here and there
manor variants are one of them
better window support is one of them
i still think pools of water in death pits on interiors during flooded weather would be really fun

this mod is really good I will say, thats sorta the reason why I'm wanting these so much
(this isnt inspired by granny v1.3.2 so dont @ me)
but it was already gonna be a bit of an undertaking and now it's even more of an undertaking
since there are brand new tiles
so i just still havent worked up the nerve to do that
anyways enemyskinregistry is a modding masterclass and i couldnt even dream of replicating something like that
i feel like my talents are way too focused and shortsighted to provide tools that flexible and easy to use
i never had a very concrete idea for this but sooner or later i was gonna try to make some factory variants as well

and then i wanted an "overgrown" variant for the forest moons
I think the factory could look cool with the mineshaft concrete instead of bricks for a variant, would be a very different vibe for titan or other snowy moons
i was gonna try to find a mossy brick texture (or edit the vanilla texture or whatever)
and then i was gonna add the vine props
like on vow's exterior and experimentation's early interior
im very much not an artist though so i think i would struggle to make the overgrown variant look good
even if i have a pretty cool picture in my head

More than more variants i would like more interior compatibility :3 but it seems its harder to make
im not sure what "more interior compatibility" entails in your opinion
i do plan to convert FancyEntranceDoors to accept a list of interior strings rather than having a hardcoded list
but like
the main reason wesley interior types support my changes are because they are extensions of the vanilla interiors
i have historically not been designing features for other interiors
even this required me to add some code to support them, since my code tries to avoid applying changes unless it's relatively certain it's looking at vanilla assets and not about to make changes to custom content
the atlantis citadel doors broke for forever because my changes were getting applied to a model they werent supposed to be for an interior i wasnt intending to alter
for example
when you make the fancy doors use configs then any interior that uses them instead of manually adding compat
I reread this and I think I said it terribly
when the configs for the fancy mansion doors exist then people can use them for any modded interior without having to manually make compat
classic mansion is based on the idea that experimentation is a time capsule with all the old lethal company stuff

then wesley's and then the pre v70 mansion interior
i have a different idea in mind for the default dine mansion
but some of these are cool and might work out as additional variety
I believe the plants in the greenhouse don't have collision so those could be changed a lot
the two things that I think would be cool is having mansions that spawn where they normally don't spawn (such as early game moons) look different since its a special event and having stuff like Artifice and Embrion feel very different than the other moons
it looks like this is an issue for embrion only just because zeekerss put the door in a weird spot
and it kinda has worse issues going on tbh
so im not sure it's worth blacklisting embrion just to get around this since it's gonna look bad anyway

@obtuse stream oh yeah i realized after releasing the update the other day i forgot to follow up on your footstep thing
can you be specific on what you're looking for

do you just want to have ice caverns with normal rocky footsteps
because i can just add a config setting that removes the tag switching code
i already have to disable the tag switching if you're not using butteryfixes (or nolostsignal) because for some reason zeekerss tied the "no signal" screen to the material under the player's feet
which would let you cheat and see through it as a client when a cavern type with special footsteps generates
anyways tl;dr it's easy to just disable the tag switch to keep vanilla's footsteps
yeah I'd just like ice caves with rocky footsteps :)

I think ||the cadaver bloom|| would fit very well with the facility being overgrown
What if there was a mansion variant thats partially burnt with a bunch of smoke damage

I always liked the stark white lights in RebalancedMoons and wished they were not trapped in that mod
Does Chameleon work on v80?
i dont know if it will cause issues
but the foggy rework will be removed
fancyshrouds will be removed
and fancyentrances needs to be reworked
so if you disable those 3 settings and dont get errors i would guess it's "probably fine" to use
I ran a 6 player lobby with it yesterday and we had no issues that I or the others noticed, no errors, all seemed good.

yo just wanted to ask is this mod client side?
yeah i did see that but im confused how is it possible to change the doors and such when running the mod on client side
the actual visual appearance of most things is not networked, with online games you want to network as little stuff as possible to reduce bandwidth usage and latency
none of the stuff i change causes issues with what is actually networked
almost all of my mods are client side and the ones that aren't are either marked "server side" (only the host needs it) or if there is no tag, all players need it
ngl im not exactly sure what this means but in short, will other players be able to see the changes or not?
there's no way for you using the mod to impact other players
that's what "client-side" means
it affects your client only
not sure if this would fit for chameleon or something else but I think it would be cool if there was an option to make the background music not play on certain moons (and have a config choose what moons do this)
yesterday I played on Rend and there was background music and I thought it ruined the vibe a bit and in the past certain moon mods did this as well

vow, march, adamance, rend, dine, and titan all use a new "LargeRockForest" set of prefabs
same boulders but with a grayscale texture

snow moons still don't have the snowy boulders though right? like the one in rend's fire exit pit
the "snowy boulders" are kind of ugly
they're literally just the desert boulders with their texture removed
so they're solid white with the same normals and stuff
ah
in any case vanilla made them gray
and it was probably specifically in response to my bug report about them being desert boulders
so i assume what zeekerss has is behavior he's happy with

When using this mod pack for some reason the console spams Cascade Shadow errors and the ship interior has no shadows, this only happens with Chameleon installed

This has probably been asked before, but have you ever thought about when there is a mineshaft interior, making the main entrance look like the yellow doors.
I do realise that the interior uses the default doors, but I enjoy seeing the manor doors and knowing the interior. To have that be the case for mineshaft would add to that.
ive thought about it, but last i tried it, it was really ugly and i didnt like it

part of the kidnapper fox's lore is that "they have been known to stow away on passenger ships"
but i personally dont believe that is witnessed in game

actually i broke the doorknobs again in v2.4.1 🥲
but this time it's a lot worse because now they use the player texture
i am going to release v2.4.2 "in a couple minutes" and it should be "forever good" after that
local mod developer HATES doorknobs

- When Leaving, the props that are changed with "FixShipMeshes" will change the texture to pink
yeahhhh i noticed this
it's not "not a bug" but i figured it's so minor impact i didnt want to publish another fix just for it
the problem is that the materials are getting deloaded as soon as you disconnect
to clear the cache and prevent some weird stuff that sometimes happens when rehosting with custom content
in "the next version" i will probably move it to when the scene is actually unloaded
or make it run on the title screen

im not really sure why it's just turning white but my guess is it's some sort of shader incompatibility with the custom assets this moon is using
i would expect it to turn pink if anything
alternatively you can just turn the setting off if it's breaking custom content

No mods break if having both, but there are no doors on mansion with windows
I wonder if there will be doors for modded moon support in the future
i.e for Toy Store or Castle interior
I would kind of guess no because Buttery wouldn't have access to those assets
im not really interested in explicitly designing support for modded content

@meager ivy i got the cabin interior by sniper, would fancy entrance work?
by default the cabin interior should support the fancy entrances
but i only added fancy entrances to *vanilla moons
they are currently not supported on modded moons
there is a possibility this could change in the future, since v80 releasing finally gave me a prefab i can replace on modded moons

but right now it is still limited to vanilla levels
