You mean warping through the door? Not a fan.

Originally my mod had "set destination" and never checked path = the stuttering you described.

Now I do check path and its not better.

But my thought was.. stop checking path when setting it (as that doesn't seem to do the full path?).. but before setting the walk to destination, select the destination, and then check if the path is valid or not. As that "should" say "this path isn't valid" if its blocked.

Bare in mind, I'm having bigger issues than doors due to the breaker box being spawned inside a wall sometimes.. lol

Oh BTW reason I'm not a fan of warping through the door is just I feel like it's cheating the system, if I can't walk through a door then either the enemy should be able to break the door.. or not be able to go through it either xD

this was what i thought as well (regaring partial/invalid paths), my problem was, because my paths are pre-calculated, the path ENDS at the door, so it thinks the path is completed, im hoping once i go back to not calculating the path, it stops ending at the door.

though in my case, if the path is blocked, i will be telling the entity to do something else instead of dealing with the blockage as the stuttering seems to represent there being "no way to complete the path at all".

Yes, but isn’t being worked on further as far as I know.

Zeekerss has taken a break from LC so it’ll work for quite a while before it inevitably breaks. Hopefully a remake will be made someday

Correct me if I am wrong but the logs I was given pointed to an error in the zeekers part of the code which makes me thing something was set up incorrectly with the pilum. otherwise generic scraps, slaughterhouse scraps, and some others would also currently be broken

This is also part of the plan. The intentions are to have a couple of different versions that can spawn at any time on the map, and triggering them will spawn a shy guy at a short distance from the player before aggroing. If LethalPosters has a format they apply to their images (IE: Name, ID, etc), I could in theory add a system for people to add custom scrap that works the same as the other items I plan to add, so I'll look into it. As for opening the ship doors, Im speaking to some people for the custom animations for that, along with new animations for the Shy Guy idling, charging, and chasing players. It's just taking longer than I expected.

Oh yeah btw @lament lichen Since you asked with 1.1.5 I did run into cases of Shy Guy being invisible, I think it would happen whenever he didn't spawn on a navmesh area or ainode properly since it would only ever really occur if he spawned outside. Very rarely did it happen if he spawned inside so I ended up just limiting his spawns to inside everywhere after a while using this mod https://thunderstore.io/c/lethal-company/p/Zehs/ShyGuySettings/

I never really knew what the cause of it was, it seemed to be that if he was invisible he would actually be visible somewhere else on the map seperated from himself lol

I also know I caught the game logging some SoundChannel errors from him before, I think that's due to his audio maybe not looping properly when he would initially spawn then sit down

I might request the option to add a Volume Slider for him too if that's possible some people in my group felt like he was too loud at times

The cause for the SoundChannel error has been fixed, and will be merged in the latest version when I push it live, just waiting on a few changes to animations, and such.

Regarding no sound and no aggression, the no sound i've experienced in my latest code as well, and im aiming to have that fixed for the next release as well. I do think Lunx was right about the audio, as it was me changing sound stuff in the AssetBundle that fixed the soundChannel error, so I just need to do a bit more troubleshooting to fix this.

Next release should have shy guy ripping open the ship too, btw, this is why im waiting to push things. After that, im hoping to get onto the Spawnable scraps, so if yall have image ideas again, post them here, or in the fanart section, and maybe your art can make it in.

v1.1.7 is pushed to thunderstore, Sound issues should be fixed, completely. break in Anim should be live as well, and everything should still work. Please report any issues to me either here, or in the github issues, I may have made a couple of mistakes somewhere, so call me out for it! xD.

main entrances from vanilla and some modded(unreal interior in this case)
tried spawning them inside, they start chasing
but as soon as i get out they ran away to somewhere that is not main.
if theyre nowhere near touching the entrance they just ranaway somewhere and not get out

literally had to die once touching the entrance and retriggering the chase then it work
im not sure if its the dev mode making it do that or not

Its about the same at this point, with new features, bugfixes, and new animations, etc. there'll be more added in the future as well, and of course, ProjectSCP plan to release their own version, too.

New Stuff:

  • Shy guy can now use Fire Exits! 😄
  • Possibly fix escape mechanic on non networked exits (not sure, but seemed to work on Tomb)
  • Include Shy Guy Settings by Zehs in the base mod, no need for his extra mod anymore!

Also several changes to the codebase to fix underlying bugs.

v1.2.1 and v1.2.2 have both been pushed, v1.2.1 adds a new scrap item that can be found, previous scrappers have gone missing after finding this item, so be careful!
v1.2.2 is a fix for something happening at the company building by mistake, which in turn was added in v1.2.1.

I can definitely do that, and set up a config for either option! I was thinking of having it spawn in and match ScanNode details with the in game paintings, then when picked up, it'll reveal itself to be the SCP portrait, and well, you know the rest 😂

hi, question regarding the painting.

does the shyguy aggro you if you put it into a belt bag instead of pick it up normally? (I configure so things like "demonic painting" from SDM, which have events attached when picked up.. do not go in belt bags.. because putting them in belt bags prevents the event from firing...)

Will look into getting support added for OpenBodycams at some point soon, just not sure when, i'll need to take a look at how they implement things, and work from there. Might take a little bit, as im also working on some other stuff which may appear soon. 🙂

Idk if its interior specific as well, but when i tested, he struggled to chase you outside if you left during his trigger time. i turned it down to 15s instead of 66s or whatever the default is, but yeah he wasnt able to leave consistently

that error actually popped up in my lobby, had to remove all scrap mods to get rid of it, including setting the painting to 0 weight

yeah so im gonna recommend again for people to use v1.2.3 right now, or just disable the painting entirely until next release, just in case. I personally can't recreate that issue, but I do have an idea whats causing it, as Lunxara explained on her side what happened pretty well, along with logs.

yeah I made some changes between the first and second release to make it random chance, not a certain death scenario, but the way I initially did the implementation was wrong. If your friend updates to 1.2.5, the crash should stop.

Noticed a couple of things I didn't intend to happen, so there'll be a fix coming out sometime tomorrow to cover the instances of shy guy still spawning in certain company buildings, specifically Oxyde, and Galentry which I didn't think of when putting it together, as well as shy guy spawning in the ship between rounds at times. There'll also be a config option for people to ||tweak the chance of shy guy spawning on interacting with the lootable NFT (lol), so for those evil players who want 100%, you got it||.

This is an old but persistent issue, and I havent really looked at his sit behaviour yet to work it out. His audio does play, but its either severely delayed, or not playing for all players for some reason at first. If you hang around enough, you will eventually hear him sobbing and crying into his arms, but its not consistent when he sits down. Not gonna lie, as the audio source does actually work, al be it delayed, it hasn't been a major priority for me, with other stuff in the mix, but I'll take a look at addressing it properly for the next update I push.

From my tests, with the config chance set to 100%, this seems to only apply to the host
Everytime i pickup the painting (as host), whether initially or after someone else has touched it, it ALWAYS spawns him. Yet when other players touch it, he doesn't spawn.

Like, even if say....it DID spawn when the other guy picked it up inside, we set him to only "charge up" for 15s seconds or so, not the full 66s
So he would have surely came out and killed him before he even got to the ship most likely

Im aware of issues related to Wesleys moons, specifically his newer ones. Its on the list of things to look into at some point, when I get a chance. to be more specific, can you try him on various other moons, and see if its just an issue with Wesleys moons, or a generic issue overrall please? I know of at least two of his moons currently that cause pathfinding to break in some way, as well as one of his interiors causing it to break at some point, so if I can get a list of known map issues, I can address them all at once, rather than nitpicking through them.

This is a pre-release version, mostly for testing. If people wanna try it, it should fix all issues currently listed. I've noticed some moons still have issues, so i'll be looking to address that before release, hence dropping this here.

To install, just navigate to your plugins folder, look for scopophobia, and drop the dll over the one already there.
I'll push this to release once it's been tested properly.
If not allowed, just delete and message me.

Initial intention was for shy guy to chase down enemies, implementing it hadn't been done yet, im assuming it defaulted to an id of 0 since it wasn't a valid player, but wasn't something I expected honestly, lmao.

You saw it before I could post 😂 v1.2.7 is live, it should fix most of his navigation issues. I cannot help if he happens to traverse out of a fire exit that leads to terrain he cannot navigate, however.
Noted changes:
Fix escape mechanic revert, as well as escaping on Wesley Interiors (Toy Store, Rubber Rooms, etc), and LC_Office.
Fix navigation on Wesley moons that would cause him to occasionally get stuck (This is my bad, lmao.)
Fix painting interactions triggering only for host, as well as how many times the painting will trigger (You can still force a spawn by clicking).

Any bugs, please let me know as always. I expect them to pop up at this point. XD

Yep thats showing the targets correctly, it should list each playerClientID which is currently being hunted, and proceed to kill one by one, but this isn't the first report of this happening lately, iirc someone else also had an issue where he wouldn't chase the next player until something else happened, and its on the list of things to fix in v73. I've sent you a DM as well, see if we can isolate things down a bit more.

According to that, it killed player 0 (The Host), then things went borky)

Yeah that was on me with trying to push the update out quick, I didnt fully review my changes before pushing live, and missed out the ownership on the rpcs, lmao. I tested 1.3.0 with DemonMae's interiors, Wesleys Interiors, and Wesleys moons as well as the vanilla ones, he still has some pathfinding issues in places on Wesley moons, but thats the navmesh not his AI. everything else worked

You'd be correct, I actually looked at the assetbundle in unity earlier, and questioned myself on why that wasn't set anymore. Although it should still be playing an audiofile, but it would be the wrong one. Im assuming I accidentally removed it, so it'll be fixed shortly.

Virus, if you heard crying instead of the FearSFX you'd hear when looking at him, then he didn't spawn. The cry is set to play if he doesn't spawn, whereas if you hit the random chance range for spawning, you'll hear the fear sound. It should only trigger once per round per player / painting, so you can pick up a second after surviving the first time, and you should be able to trigger the new one.

by the way, incase i didnt mention, and incase its not known (forgot if i mentioned it here).. picking up the painting with a belt bag doesnt trigger the effects (i think). its the same with other similar items (SDM Painting doesnt trigger the "monster spawn fight", slenderman pages dont trigger slenderman).. i blacklist all those items normally, but just reaching out in the hope that isnt required in the future ;D

v1.3.1 is Live. It fixes the bug with the Configs, Fixes his Idle / Sitting sounds, Fixes the Mineshaft Elevator Code for both Vanilla and Wesleys Interior, Fixes the Loot Bugs and Baboon hawks triggering the painting, also for @keen willow , there is now a trigger for the painting for the belt bag, this will be changed in v1.3.2, but wanted to push it early with all the other fixes. Currently, the config option for this is a Placebo, and isn't set up, but this won't affect you if you don't use BagConfig by MattyMatty.

Sorry for how long it took, I wanted to thoroughly test everything while I was fixing things, which led to finding the mineshaft Elevator bug. This release should be pretty bug free now 🙂

I also think if you tell it to allow him to both spawn inside and outside it can spawn one in and one out but by default he always spawns inside, if you want him outside on a moon you have the option to toggle off him being able to spawn inside lol this is just cus indoor and outdoor enemies are treated seperately by the game

So when you have both toggles set to true on a moon he gets added to the spawn pool for both indoor and outdoor enemies

It broke his escape behaviour when I was testing someone’s pack.

I tested with EntranceOptimizations enabled, and shy guy would fail to find any exit points in the map, regardless of level, and when disabled, he found a teleport as expected, so I assume it changes the teleports somehow. I haven’t tested it since I rewrote and fixed a bunch, so it may be working now, not sure.

Now I’ve been reminded I’ll probably add some additional logging and debug it properly, tbh. I don’t even remember seeing that config, but makes sense. I’d assume starlancer escape is also broken in the same manner, since I adapted his code for grabbing teleports.

is it intended that every time you pick up a painting, it spawns a new shyguy? (ie, more than one?). we had 2 shyguys spawn one from first pick up, second from dropping and picking it up instantly xD (35% chance)

Also, there is a minor bug with multiple shy guys (often caused by the the paintings spawning more), that when 2 aggro onto 1 player and both run after them, whichever one doesn't get the kill just continues screaming etc.
I think they just need a check for if their target is dead

One thing i would like to see though with the Shy Guy Paintings is an option for the paintings to only spawn a Shy Guy if there isn't already one on the map
And if there IS one, then make him aggro onto the player instead

Sorry for silence on my side, I am still around, just been pretty hectic IRL here.

Regarding what Virus noted, That is only intended if say another player were to pick up the painting after someone else already spawned a shy guy, but im probably just gonna change this to have it only spawn one the first time, and also remove the interaction trigger.

as for what Zeta mentioned / suggested, that targetting bug is the same thing that will happen if a player killbinds, and its something I still need to look at, tbfh. It does have checks on if the player is dead, and should remove the target and reset him, but for some reason, it just says absolutely bloody not, lmao.

I can look at adding that as an option for you, this was initially how I had it in my head anyway at one point I think, I just change my mind so often I probably decided it was more fun this way xD. I've been working on creating some new models and animations for a pretty epic new feature im working on, and im hoping to push it in one of the next releases, if I can. I'll see about getting a version pushed quickly with fixes for the noted issues, and that feature for you.

  • Fix a regression with the Shy Guy Painting triggering more than once, will now only trigger if it hasn't already triggered.
  • Fixed an issue with KillSFX looping over and over again
  • Removed Debugging code for Triggering the painting on Interact, this was only ever for testing means.
  • fixed an issue with Painting Spawn chance.
  • Maybe fixed targetting when a player dies while being chased by shy guy? Not sure, needs testing more.

If a shy guy spawns from a painting picked up indoors, comes outside and kills a player (the host in our case), then when any other player looks at him or steals the painting again, he DOES start screaming but never chases properly

Logs are long gone and not sure on how to reproduce it, but ive had two strange instances i may as well throw out there:

  • Non-host player invincible to shy guy, only to shy guy, player died to something else later - I havent seen this happen again but did happen on current version
  • Shy guy will spam PlayerControllerB.Update() errors every frame for a short period of time when looking at him - seen happen a few times, but didnt save the logs from them at the time

That first case sounds more like they were using some sort of client side mod giving them god mode or something, Its not something i've seen in testing, and i've had over 100 shy guys chasing two instances when I do testing, so i'd assume i'd see it.

Second issue was one I recall from a while back, but I havent seen since. I'll look back into it, but iirc this hasn't been a noted issue for a good while now.

@opal rapids I sent you a DM regarding your bug, Im fairly sure its related to a known bug I intend to chase down and iron out later this week, might need to get into a game or two with you and do some testing when you're available, and I have something in the works.

thats normal, lmao. his behaviour is to target the players who A: look at him, or B: cause a targetting event via the painting. I also confirmed this is working independently in my code, since the hasSeenFace check actually checks against this prior to adding targets / triggering.

As for the Exit Facility, im noticing its a little iffy depending on some factors, and I am actively looking at it, along with other issues that are priority fixes. Although I will say my current dev version has none of these issues with my test pack, I still wanna investigate further.
