I wanted to share a small personal update.
I’ve been feeling a bit sad lately because, at the moment, it’s NOT POSSIBLE to share Paralives mods outside of the Steam Workshop.

If I uploading complete mod folders as regular .mod project folders in the local mod directory to CurseForge, Nexus, and wherever else, then they are:
fully readable, editable, and treated practically like open-source development projects
Unfortunately, this currently means:
Users can extract assets, modify files, copy your mod, or edit it directly in the built-in mod tool
This isn’t my fault—it’s more a consequence of the fact that Paralives currently seems heavily geared toward “open mod projects” and doesn’t yet have a proper “compiled/package-only” system like Sims .package files or encrypted Workshop builds.
I’d also like to share my mods outside of the Steam Workshop, but I’m waiting until Paralives provides a finished distribution system. I really hope that’s still coming 🩷

You don't need an FModel here; the files are freely available, and you can copy or view them yourself. However, this is about mod sharing, which on Paralives is only possible through the Steam Workshop. It doesn't work on any other platforms. Some people do it anyway, but they upload the entire folder containing the mod, so the files are freely available and editable.
Your mod’s folder needs to be zipped so the files inside can’t be modified. And unfortunately, that’s not possible yet.

I got to play Paralives yesterday, and I’m actually surprised but unfortunately i will refund because the state of the game rn is tooo clunky

The paramaker was too overwhelming for me, i felt like operating a machine with millions buttons, that surprised me because inZOI CAZ doesn’t overwhelm me like that

I’m not only refunding because the performance issue, and clunky camera movements. But i’m also refunding because it strongly gave me the sims 4 vibes, i looked at all those mods and i thought “are mods gonna carry this game?”, and i recently saw that Alex (the boss of Paralives) is not planning to expand the team so this is really concerning for me so i don’t think i should keep the game. AI is like the new internet, it's not entirely good or bad, it's a tool. You can beat someone to death with a hammer and use it to rob someone. People that do the shady shit need to be held accountable for it, but people that use it responsibly shouldn't be witch hunted.

I found this too when I first started playing. I found that the builds, to me, made a huge difference. A lot of the builds in the world and on canvas are those gorgeous houses that look like they're out of architectural digest. But I found if I downloaded (I can't build for shit) a smaller more 'normal' looking home and cluttered it up with stuff i thought my zoi would use/like, that helped it feel more 'homey'

I played for about 2-3 hours with my little sisters before giving up.

I think it was especially hard for us to get into the game, considering we are Inzoi players. Everything was annoying, from lag to movement, to paras being inside each other, to not being able to interact with people and waiting before picking a card, to repetitive interaction card options, to random cheating card options, to then leaving conversations because they are sleepy, hungry, etc., to the toddlers standing there stinky in one single place for 24 hours, and more.

I don't think Paralives will be on Inzoi's level for a while, it needs to find it's own niche, which I feel it is doing though, with the storyteller mechanic, which is like Rimworld. If they can make it work on that level and it cooks a little more I've no doubt that it'll at least have a dedicated cult following.

I play 2 games and can see myself play inzoi more. There are many things you can do, and not too repetitive and waiting circle.
Paralives is good and simple enough for building side but once i know and get used to the way of buildings in inzoi. I actually like inzoi setup more (especially with the filters mode 😅).
And the gameplay, inzoi is much better in my opinion. There are many things you can interact with, play around and try to find out how it works.
Paralives is more like doing quests and waiting for the cards to give you more choices to do.
Both games are good but id prefer inzoi more 😁

Yes they do. And i personally dont mind modding but i think the game should have enough resources so players dont need to seek out for more things to do.
And yes we should play the way we like not just waiting for quests to finish and the game decides what our next steps are. I think it will erase the fun and creativity of the game

Oh, I already called and screened it too. They said 7 million was enough, and they are likely not to expand the game.

Let's say over time they might receive about 10 million after taxes. DLCs would take about 1-2 years to make. New items would take about 2-3 months to make. Large updates maybe 6-12 months.

Cats and Dogs will be the first one out.. as they were planning this within their 7 years development pipeline (Cant wait to see that tbh would be cute if it was done right), however it will eventually slow down.

They are not planning to grow the team either, so I'm not seeing this as something that will grow slowly.

Bug fixes? A few weeks to months possibly. Might be speedy now, but eventually will calm.

This is my theory and speculation based on what i am perceiving atm unless some miracle happens

So yes...modders will have a field day with this because they are slower updates, which means they don't have to update it as often. They are relied on more than the devs to cover up for things that they cant.

Not a mad model if u ask me. But its a burst of profit with a slow eventually decline if modders arent running the game.

I will probably take time to review Alex's portfolio and how long it took for him and his developers to get to this point.

I also wish to research when the team had increased to the 15 that they are now.

This will offer more clarity on the progress the game might possibly have in the future

Yes, I’m seeing the same thing as you. It feels like they don’t want to expand or add any paid DLCs. I mean, okay if they don’t want to become as big as HoyoVerse, for example, that’s fine. But they’ll still need more people to fix bugs and better modders if they want this game to succeed.

And about the money, funding would help them add new mechanics and improve the game overall. I honestly don’t know... if they rely only on modders, I don’t really see much difference from EA. It’s like: “Here’s the game, take it, make it however you want, and finish it yourselves.”

Imo, making games that are enjoyable to play is not just about manpower. It is also about having the right ideas that the devs have faith in that they can be fun and executing them well. I think where my qualms are with this game is the idea of "potential." People did not like that people did not like Paralives because it has "potential." Hence why I try my best to speak about why this said "potential" might be harder to achieve than you think.

In fact, if I didn't like the game, I wouldn't care much and move on, but it's the insults people give you for not wanting to buy the game at its current stage, when there is an obvious red flag flying in the way of the game's said "potential."

1. Main menu music wouldn't stop and I had no sound FX. When the main menu music was over the game had no audio at all and just went silent.
2. When I went to change outfit on my para, all her clothes and hair and makeup got yeeted off her. When I took her into editcharacter to fix it, none of the clothes would apply. Like I'd click a t-shirt and the t-shirt wouldn't get put on her body

A game reset didn't fix it and that's really all you can do in the game rn to fix anything

It's super annoying because I was ACTUALLY HAVING FUN

Adding too many new features without focusing on the core game is not good. But if you mean features like high school, then for me, high school should already be part of the base game and not locked behind a DLC.

Of course, they also need to focus more on personalities, behaviors, and interactions, so players can create more unique characters. The relationships between zois, along with the animations, are also very important.

Yeah, I understand and I agree with you, but I think high school is a must for the base game. If you checked Kjun’s letter yesterday, he said: “For example, just as earning good grades in high school may help a character perform better during future job interviews…”

At least for me, high school needs to be included because it helps fill the gap between childhood and graduation.

Also, I feel like the Zois are more alive because they behave more realistically. I can understand why the developers are trying to expand the game by adding new features.

I see it more as them gradually improving each feature over time. For example, with the crime system, they seem to be expanding it step by step, adding new things with every update. That’s how I see it, anyway maybe I’m wrong.

It's done differently though than the multitasking you have in Sims 4. It's a more simple 'separate' interaction that simulates multitasking. I think Paralives is talking about performing multiple actions at once like how it's done in Inzoi now.

Back in 2014 the whole 'multitasking' thing in Sims 4 was marketed as a new feature
