- A few more fps for PT16 via magic
- Fixed a definition for PTNext High causing marginally lower visual quality
- Enabled screenspace reflection blending for PTNext by default — this should be ON
- Disabled Distant global illumination for all PT modes... Neither ON nor OFF yields a completely 'correct' scene for this setting, however after a lot of testing, ON is often a lot more obviously wrong (for example, reflections in some windows are extremely bright), and OFF is less immersion-breaking

The only thing im struggling with is sometimes indoor lights seem to not work. This might already be a known bug though

NRD denoiser is on. At the end you can also still see some weird things after exiting pause screen. But the lights do come back though.

I just I hope I don't have any conflicting mods installed that might be causing me all my troubles. Since I have been struggling so much with all of 4.x.x and 5.x.x. 🥺 I just have no idea what it could be if thats the case.

And to answer this one before I go:
- I launch the game, I set ultra+ (5.2.8) settings, load save, everything looks good.
- I pause the game / enter photo mode.
- Lights are off once I resume game.
So I can play its just a bit unpractical to not be able to use any menus.
If I load the same save after this the lights are still off. Exiting to main menu and re-doing ultra+ (5.2.8) settings brings me back to step 1.

Question for Sammi, how come the Ultra Plus tool makes my V look very low res in photo mode? Thats the only reason I dont use this tool... I use photo mode a lot and no matter the settings, V is very bad looking unless shined upon with a lot of light.
I am guessing thats where its cutting down on quality to improve it in other places?
So, big issue. I decided to en able the "ray reconstruction denoiser" or whatever that option is, and it's caused my game to crash- and then instantly crash upon startup. Even reinstalling the addon doesn't fix anything.. So, am a bit stuck. I tried looking through the config for the option to disable it there, but I'm not exactly sure which option is it. Any ideas?
To me it seems like something happens when PTNext is activated again when resuming gameplay? It is the same response no matter if its photomode, pause menu, or inventory menu.
Like here, when Ultra+ says "PTNext is active" in the console. Im just guessing though, you are the expert on this after all 🫡

yes when it says "PTNext is active" it means "i've done everything that should be required for it to be activated" ... but because it's an engine hack it's not 100% guaranteed... not yet anyway

I was hoping this mod would fix it, and it seems like it did for a time.. I just, ugh. Raytracing will randomly cause my game to stutter SO bad, lol. Like ill be over 100 fps, and still stuttering hard. And its JUST from raytracing
@gritty geode See first shot, notice the arms and lips and nose. Especially the chin. There's a layer of washed out edges around them. This is with Ultra Plus - the most stable version.
Here its without the mod, notice the body looks fine without washed out edges.
This happens to a greater degree inside Vs apt. im guessing due to light bounces perhaps or could be something else... outside its less noticeble but still there.
Ok thats good to know though. Will try to troubleshoot a bit for myself some time 🙂

I’ve ran that already ^^ appreciate the suggestion tho. I’ve truly been stumped on this, lol. And it seems pretty inconsistent as well; sometimes I can go for a good few hours before it starts. Sometimes it happens instantly.
Running DLSS/Intel/AMD, frame gen on/off - nothing really makes a difference once it starts stuttering, I just have to turn ray tracing off, and it runs flawlessly.
This is also something new, never used to happen the last time I played. Just really weird all around lol

also, stupid question you get asked all the time but if you got any tips for low FPS - I am on a 4090 and get 35FPS on 21 and high settings, I would think the Ultra mod would actually help gain FPS and not lower it lol
I remember trying the mod many months ago and it actually did help with FPS, with new update not so much with insane settings

sorry if this is a known bug or common issue, but when using PTNext I occasionally get what seems to be shadows stuck to the edges of the screen. I'm using DLSS Performance at 4K, RR, and Frame generation. Preset E (loaded through special k). Using RenoDX as well. Framerate capped with special k. DLSS Dlls are newest versions, apart from RR which is 3.7.0. just curious if anyone else has experienced this or if there is a known workaround. PTNext looks mindblowing so I'd love to use it haha, PT20 still looks great but PTNext is on another level.
i'm also seeing a decent amount of motion instability/tearing despite using G Sync, but wondering if maybe that has to do with using an external frame limiter with frame generation?

it looks a bit like some auto exposure / eye-adaptation but it could be vignette messing with dlss/fg

- Are these instructions on DLSSTweaks from v3.5.3 still valid and OK to follow?
- The line "If you are using Reshade, rename the DLSSTweaks DLL to xinput9_1_0.dll". I am using https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/13912. Should I rename nvngx.dll -> xinput9_1_0.dll?
Seems like renaming it just crashes the game. Gives a DLSS enabler error on startup.
I just redid the installation of DLSS 3.7.20, DLSSD 3.7.0, frame gen mod, Reshade and DLSSTweaks. And I feel like that changed something.
I can now use v5.2.9 with PT20 and it looks good I think??? PTNext still looks noisy as if the denoiser is missing (per previous vid), but PT20 looks nice. Cant remember if I actually tested that before or not though. I am still seeing a bit of the grass light bug (also per previous vid), but its much less.
I am also seeing a HUGE difference between PT20 Medium and High. In Medium all lights are noticable blotchy, while on High not at all. Is the difference meant to be that noticable?

Yup. Initialized PTNext, quick saved and quick loaded. It seems to happen randomly, can’t seem to narrow down what causes it unfortunately. I’ve also noticed CET’s hotkey stops working sometimes after a few minutes into the game session, can’t tell if that’s just the menu failing to load or CET as a whole stopping. I’ll post here if I encounter the issue again and hopefully more information on the circumstances that might be causing it.
Also I started using the cinematic RTX launch command, is it normal that I need to hit apply in my settings on every game launch? I saw that ultra plus fixes the graphics settings resetting thankfully, but I do still need to apply my settings on every launch. Not a big deal at all to do that only takes a couple seconds, just curious if that’s expected behavior.
So I tried Ultra Plus again for perhaps the 8th or 10th time last night and well It just doesnt do what I think it does. I dont know what PQ settings looks good and performance is always choppy on my 4090. So I just leave it off for now.
But I want to thank Sammi for her dedication to the mod and help each and every person who comes here with questions. I see a lot of other modders on here just being snarky and not helpful or dont even respond while Sammi takes the time to help everyone out as much as possible.
This mod isnt for me but this kind of service is hard to find these days so thank you for everything @gritty geode Hope you continue to do good work for the Cyberpunk community.

This is v5.2.9 PT20 on Medium. Forgive that kinda dark video, its HDR gameplay :S It also "smears" in a much more noticable way when the edge of the screen passes over the light.
Same scene on High. To me thats a pretty noticable difference. Is it supposed to be that noticable?
I now have "DLSS SDK - DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - CONTACT NVIDIA TO OBTAIN DLLs FOR YOUR TITLE" in the bottom right. How do I get rid of that? It was the demo version of nvngx_dlss.dll that did it.
And do you know how to get rid of black squares on the left side? I read that sammi recommends setting Resolution Offset: 0 in dlsstweaks. But it is already 0.

It's something that can be enabled through dlsstweaks and shows in the bottom left the resolution, mode, ray reconstruction data, etc
But I noticed it gets affected by dlss fg and turns black during movement
So yours might be completely bugged and be permanently black

could be an edge case thing with CP2077 specifically due to the amount of noise in its visuals
cyberpunk with path tracing is different from other games because it uses very different denoisers. I found preset E had very unstable edges on objects (just comparing a screenshot from C and E). but ultimately it's whatever you like 😊
I'm just cautious because there's already been a very loud "use preset E!!" message out there... well, that hasn't been my experience

So running this + the Reno hdr mod, makes my interiors insufferably dark. Can’t see anything. But outside is super bright. Any help on fixing this maybe? Not sure what to change exactly

It’ll give you something that’ll match the general look of SDR but with hdr highlights
Make sure to load a game after changing settings so they get applied correctly.
The different RT/PT modes do make darker areas change in their presentation also, more accurate lighting can darken a scene.
Rolling the contrast slider back a bit to closer to 40 and raising the shadows a few ticks up to 55 +/- should help balance things out.

It's amazing how far CP2077 has come, with HDR fixed and the image quality lifted up with Ultra+ we are really spoiled. Have so much love for this game.

I’m running a 4070 ti with a 5800x atm. And outside of the stuttering, with path tracing on it still pushes over 60 fps in the city. Which is more than enough for me to enjoy a RPG game
It'd be nice to push the visuals to the limit and still get a nice 100 FPS baseline framerate before frame gen so there's no floaty disconnect when aiming.
Yeah frame gen just causes issues, even with mods to “fix” it
The biggest bump for me was when I finally swapped off DLSS.
AMD and Intel just seems to run better, and has SIGNIFICANTLY less ghosting/smearing
I try to avoid using FG where I can, I think the only games I've ever used it in were CP2077, Alan Wake 2 and Hellblade 2 just out of necessity.
I guess the only downside is games are leaning heavily on things like DLSS/frame gen to run well
I really like DLSS and DLDSR techniques, only gripe I have really with FG is the input lag it's just something I'm sensitive to.
Maybe it’s a system by system thing, but DLSS just causes an insane level of smearing and ghosting for me in cyberpunk
Game has a lot of noise in its visual presentation and the lower the frame rate goes the worse it all gets.
In the sense that DLSS is amplifying the noise and creating new artifacts. Getting rid of chromatic aberration, film grain, motion blur and raising the FPS helps a lot.
Sammi's recommendation was to use preset C for DLSS in this game.
Maybe I can try that at some point. But I’ve never used the dlsstweaks thing or whatever, so never thought about it

Found another location that even better highlights the differences in Medium / High PT20 on v5.2.9 for me. Just putting it here in case its useful for later.
Also noticed v5.2.9 is running a lot worse, at 28fps on high, while v5.2.8 is 48fps on high. Might be useless info tho, since v5.2.9 looks more correct than 5.2.8 anyways (in that specific setup).

High turns on spatial samples, but they only affect certain very specific surfaces, like the concrete floor I'm the ground floor/foyer of H10. and high has 2 bounces vs 1
medium has no spatial samples, because, again, they cost a lot, and only affect a handful of textures. but medium has 2 bounces also
fast is as fast as I can make it while still competing with vanilla quality
in reality the second bounce only matters on about 10-15% of objects and at certain times of day
So fast would be the way to go for visuals vs performance if needed? Also would it be counterintuitive to run Dlss in balanced or performance mode at 4k res in favor of running PT20 in medium or high settings??

So your DLDSR res is 2.5x then upscaled using DLSS performance?
Don’t know if I can run that with all my already upscaled texture mods with my measly 4080supers 16gb vram..

Please ace it.. or make it to where you can it is still there but you need to toggle it on or off to take effect then hit apply on the graphics setting.. like a check box to say “use this”

if you launch the game with -qualityLevel=Cinematic_RTX it goes into the mode they used to record some of the trailers

Hey I am loving this mod and the performance gains along with the visual fixes. I have a question about RT+PT option. I can't seem to get it to work. It seems to look the same and have the same performance as just the RT option even when I load a save. What could I be doing wrong? I have all the RT options enabled including lighting. Thanks!

keep in mind that cyberpunk changes some ini values as the game launches, after CET dumps them

just thinking neither rtao or ssao or whatever ao technique they use in this game look that good, so if i could get a few fps or ability to run in a slightly higher native res then it could maybe be worth it

Probably no surprise as this wasnt the goal of this update, but this is still happening in 5.3.0 🙂 Not nagging, just for documentation sake on the off-chance that it actually had changed for some reason. As well as PTNext looking mostly un-denoised on my system

Have any of you experienced a lot more crashes recently? Mainly when driving around city blocks and highways.
At first I thought it was Ultra+, but turns out its just path tracing in general. With path tracing on I basically can not drive from point a to point b without having a crash at some point. On just normal raster there is nothing. I have no idea how to fix it 😭

Yeah its on. It was crashing without having Ultra+ installed as well. Maybe I was just having some weird conflicts or my GPU couldnt handle it.
Looking at the Nexus Mods page it looks like several people are getting random crashes as well. So it looks like the mod is just unstable for some people.
Saw that too. I just got another crash though so Im guessing I have a bunch of things in my game causing instability 😵💫

I don't think it would change my output... but I'm certainly open to working on other games. I've learnt masses working on the last several. the biggest questions are usually how many problems does the game have, how frequent are updates. some games are very fast. I probably need to be careful! to limit time spent on games like Survivor and Cyberpunk because they can just absorb all my time

I realized now that the thing causing my weird heavy noise in RR that i was talking about 1-2 months ago was probably because of dlss scales through dlsstweaks...
i completely disabled dlsstweaks and it disappeared, you can still see where it is but now it freezes as it should into a pattern and gets soft instead of being noisy on screen

okay i've added ray/bounce number to the perceptual auto-scaler (Target FPS)
i'm adding it now, 3 bounces at quality levels 4-6, 3 bounces makes a difference at some places at the Afterlife... and many other places too but it's the only place i know for sure where you can easily see the difference toggling between 2 and 3... if i knew how i'd like it to trigger certain places or situations, like in lizzies, afterlife... places that are know for it to be noticeable but where you are unlikely to get in a fight

I've changed "Target FPS" so that:
- It can now jump levels. (Previously it would gradually increase or decrease quality by only 1 step every 5 seconds. It can now e.g. jump from 15% to 100% quality or back. So if it's running at 100% quality and you suddenly need FPS, it can reduce quality quickly to give you FPS much sooner. (And vice versa, if you have spare FPS, it can increase quality quickly.)
- It now controls rays and bounces for PT16, PT20, and RT+PT, so has more comprehensive control over perceptual quality
this doesn't go up to 3 bounces at the highest quality but it might as well, I don't think it will add much cost
hmm, we could make a whitelist of places like that and U+ could just enable the 3rd bounce if it's in a whitelist location. pretty easy 😊
Odd yes, I've noticed that recently too. In my case, however, CTDs only happen when driving with certain car mods. I have no problems with vanilla cars.
Good to know. I have no car mods installed though. It did help a lot to remove Not So Good Draw Distance for me. It made path tracing crazy unstable.

@Mads do you have NSGDD at default settings? how much vram do you have?
nsgdd with non-default settings can cause a lot of issues with RT and PT, and even default settings can cause vram problems (i have 16GB vram, playing DLSS 'Balanced' on 4k, so 2275x1280 internal res. and i use almost all my vram playing with Ultra+ RTPT)
In latest build (5.3.2) i found that with pt20 and pt16 there are some missing light while ptnext looks ok. I installed ultrafog as well. Patch 2.13 of the game. Here is an example. Is this normal? thank you.

Is there an optimaztion guide for graphics when using PTNext medium setting? Like when using this mod are there certain graphical settings that I can or need to be adjusted higher/lower because the mod makes them look better anyways or??? Can I just use hardware unboxed or Benchmarking optimization settings???
the optimisations are already baked in and selected for you according to the chosen preset selected
I mean the actual graphic settings, like fog, resolution, shadow, resolution, Texter, quality, all of those, not necessarily with mod
Since you're able to use PTNext is it safe to assume that you shouldn't be constrained by VRAM for max textures?
I run everything high and if I need extra frames they are coming from changing my DLSS scaling factor.
Does it matter if I use screen space reflections with the ultra plus mod in the graphics setting?
Will even be able to tell any difference with on or off with this mod??

Foliage in 2077 has some weird shimmering
But you also have to remember this is Transformer DLSS at its infancy

It is caused by speedtrees not being setup for use with RT/PT
Something about proxy mesh with baked shadowmap
The fix is to adjust the mesh but this stops all foliage movement (modders have run into issues with having both fixed shadows and movement)
