I wouldn't recommend it until level 30, but maybe a few levels earlier when you have enough space to store some toolboxes. At level 35, the first recipe building that requires tools will appear, and you'll need a lot of toolboxes. If you don't have enough by then, you might get stuck unable to repair that building

Well, you can merge gems. Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of the 5-gem merge bonus. When you merge 5, you get 2, so it's the best merge you can do.

Here, I'll show you the gem tiers. Don't collect gems that are not at the highest tier (meaning, from 243).

If you do the 5-gem merge all the way to the last tier, in the end you'll be able to collect 2 gems of 243, so it's the most efficient way to earn more gems
