I tried searching for a message where I already had a conversation with someone about this, but discord crashes when I try to search. basically, next to coins, gems are the most valuable resource in the game and are difficult to acquire for just that reason. you build up gems so you can eventually use them to bypass the long time to wait for stuff to manifest.

basically, the tradeoff for your patience is gems. and in some version of the game, you can pay money to get gems; just not on the discord mobile version (thank god)
