going to pre order the Samsung Odyssey G8 from early February if it is still up and at that price. Doubt my PC even with a 5600X and 6800 XT is ready for 4K 240Hz but there is Zen 4 coming soon and RDNA 3 might not be too far behind. Plan on going at least 8 cores with Zen 4 and after RDNA 3 launches going for the equivalent to or higher end than the 6800 XT (7800 XT+) and trading in my 6800 XT against the value of the newer GPU to make it a bit cheaper

I upgraded mine over time. Latest upgrades the past year or so I done was going from a 6700K, 16GB 2133MHz ram with a 250GB SSD + 2TB HDD That I was running since mid 2016 (was part of my first gaming PC build) to a 5600X, 32GB 3600MHz ram and a 1TB m.2 NVMe SSD I got in late December 2020. The whole CPU upgrade + other stuff was relatively easy to get. Though the GPU upgrade was not. That took me until June 2021 to get and had to part with my old GPU (5700 XT Red Devil) to get it but absolutely no regrets since. Thing is a monster of a GPU!

In essence, it’s super easy.

You just slightly increase your speed until you reach the point where you can’t, and, that is the max your CPU/GPU will run at.

It’s all lottery based, as in, every chip is different. Some will go high, some won’t.

You run the clock rate (or the multiplier) higher and adjust the voltage to achieve stability at that speed. AMD optimized just prevents certain games (and other programs that may do it) from using over the top tessellation often found with Nvidia featured titles. Two of the most well known examples would be Witcher 3 and Metro Exodus. Tessellation in both those games if left at application controlled used to kill performance on non Nvidia GPUs

funny you mention those power draw spikes as I have a friend on another server who tested their 6900 XT Red Devil and they have the equipment that reads actual power draw (none of the software stuff) and their card did report power draw higher than 600W but strangely he also claims this behaviour doesn't happen on the 6800 XT. The guy tears GPUs apart for a living and overclocks them way past stock. Stuff he's done with really old cards was crazy lol

Hey folks i have a problem with the Xbox App. Since yesterday i cant download Games anymore. I have Gamepass Ultimate or whats that called. I just wanted to download a Game from the Gamepass. It always says download preparation 0% and after 5 or 10 minutes waiting it disapears. i already installed win11 completly new and have every driver up to date. even with a clean win11 i cant download it.

I have a question. I have xbox game pass ultimate and would love to install more pc games. But i am limited to 8gb internet ea day. This isnt an issue while playing, but it does stop me from downloading games.
I figured a solution would be to buy an external ssd, download the games at my parents place by plugging the external ssd in their pc and installing the games on it, then take the external ssd home and plug it in my pc so i can play.
Will this work? If not, any other ideas? So far my only other solution has been to move my entire pc to my parents place to download and install games on it and then take it back home, but i dont want to carry the heavy pc back and forth every time and am also scared this might cause parts to shake lose during transport.

I'm all for additional security features but if it messes with system performance that is where I draw the line and unless AMD can fix this bug with fTPM I'm not likely to touch Windows 11 again. Only other alternative would be Microsoft does away with TPM requirements on Windows 11 but in that article it seems users disabling it run into issues with certain games so that could present another problem for some until a fix is made available

ah. first test round results:
steam is indead piece of cake. simply install on external hdd, take the hdd home, plug it in my own pc and tell steam there is a steam library on that drive and poof. all games work.
Gamepass games will sadly indeed require more work. I installed back for blood on it at my parents place, take it home, plug it in and... the game is gone. all thats left is an emptey folder called XboxGames. Such a pain when windows/whatever does that where it just makes files disapear without my permission 😩

I read some work around where its apparently installed in a hidden windowsapps folder. Strange thing however is that that folder should then contain the games data in a folder simply named the name of the game... yet i can not find such folder on my pc that does have halo infinite installed trough game pass.
According to the guide, if i can find that folder, i can simply coppy that data over to my pc to a designated folder that windows store will create when i tell it to download the game. after that it should work.

guess ill have to try that out tomorrow when ill go to my parents place again.

bingo. i think with this, i should be able to simply install it on the other pc, coppy that folder on the external hdd, then start instalation of the game on my own pc so it makes a game folder for it, then pause the install, remove anything it put in there and replace it with the completed download from the other pc at my parents place. then start the download again on the xbox app, it wil recognize the game is already installed and check it, and poof. no need to download 😮

and then there was that fiasco of a pso2 launch 😬 got some premium package with 1 month premium game time for that at launch but was able to play less then half of that time due to the game just uninstalling itself every day. Ive had bad game launches before... but that was just a trainwreck. all because of the fact it launched trough microsoft store for pc

you can't use the install wizard for something and then move it to another drive and folder and have it work. That's not how things work

Portable installs are called "portable" for a reason

steam simply makes checks as items are moved

The issue is weird because of the following:
When you install a game trough gamepass it will lock certain permissions. You cant copy or delete or anything manual. You can remove the game trough tge xbox app but thats it. The .exe file etc are locked behind administrator rights. Normaly the work around would be to change the ownership of the file but this cant be done with the files of games installed trough xbox game app. Looking online and im not the only one getting stuck with this. You can install a game but not even copy or delete the files. Making it impossible to move the instalation location and or to even launch the game trough means like steam or by launching the game trough the .exe

Xbox app has the option to change the instalation disk and folder, but it will still install all of it on the C disk even if you set it to D or whatever location.
And do it in such a way you cant touch it because you as the owner and administrator dont have the rights and in this case are even unable to give yourself ownership / permission to move or edit it, even tough its your pc

And when searching online for a solution i can only find some posts on the microsoft forums of people who ran into the same problem but they either are left un answered or when an answer is given its the chaning if the files ownership permisions etc but this does not work on the games installed by the xbox game app ( and probaply same for microsoft store apps?). And then the replies on the fact that nothing works are just not there

🤔 I think i just managed to do it!
when i try to use the move option, it makes a coppy to the selected location with a complicated folder name. It doesnt remove the one installed on C.
The coppy does not have the files locked like the xbox app installed one on C do.
So i can then coppy that entire folder.
Then when i remove the one on C so its gone, go to install it again from start trough xbox app, then instantly pauze the download/instalation, paste the moved coppy with the weird name, delete the fresh folder that xbox app made where was going to download to, rename the coppy folder to the original name that the app was going to give it, then click on resume doenload in the xbox app and poof. It jumps to 100% because it detects its already all there, verifies for a moment and then its playable.

If you have a 3d printer there are some paddle mods you can print for those. Ive never seen the use behind paddles but ive seen some nice looking designs

You can even ad a joystick to the controller if you have a 3d printer. Some nice mods available.

YES IT WORKS!!!!! i downloaded and installed aliens fireteam elite at my parents place on their pc, then went to manage, move station, picked the external hdd, this makes a coppy of the game that is not locked.
Then took the hdd to my place, plugged it in, told the xbox app to download it, instantly pauzed the download, replaced the folder where it was downloading/installing the game with the coppy from the hdd.

Now, clicking play would give errors. it would complain about not being 64bit compatible or the exe missing etc. clicking the scan and repair option only results in it deleting everything and just fully redownloading the game. So dont do that. instead, make the app move the coppy around.

So i simply added a letter to the coppy folder on the external hdd so the name isnt the same as the one its going to make when selecting that folder as the instalation folder. Start the download, pauze it, delete the new folder and remove the letter to the old coppy so its called the same as the original one. Then resume the download in the xbox app. the app will jump to 100% thinking it fully downloaded and installed like before. Dont play it from there, instead, now use the change station option again to move the game (the coppy) to the disk where you want the game to be. Xbox app will now do the whole make a coppy thing again (it will say downloading, but its actually just making a coppy so it wont cost you your internet data). by making xbox app move the coppy, it now fixes itself so it works on the new disk as if it was fresly downloaded and installed trough the normal way when you simply download.

now you can just click play and it will work!

im not sure, but if its 80c when you arent going cpu heavy things,that is bad, really bad, but if its 80c when doing heavy gaming it should be ok (just dont leave the game open in the background and forget about it)

my pc is also a nzxt case, in winter it peaks at around 70c with spikes of upto 80c (it quickly cools back down to around 65 tho when gaming) and in summer it peaks at 78c most of the times
