yeah, I even found out what capping the framerate could do when I hear coil whine in uncapped menus. Crazy when some games do this since FPS is in the many thousands and is blasting the GPU full power sometimes which is completely unnecessary. Moment I enabled vsync could hear a pin drop, no coil whine but enabling vsync shouldn't be the solution since that option adds some latency and annoyingly the only alternative to that would be to use a framerate cap which some games may not support and require 3rd party tools and even more rare some games may block those 3rd party tools from working making things needlessly awkward

sub, im benchmarking shadow of the tomb raider because they added dlss 2.0 to it today, and i found something interesting

with everything maxxed out and dlss on, i get 180 fps with raytraced shadows off, and am 54% gpu bound, and with them on i get 155fps and 95% gpu bound, so in some games it seems turning raytracing on is actually the better option, neat 🙂 the shadows look slightly better, but have a big advantage in one area over having them off in this game, npcs with moving lights like candles or etc cause the shadows around them to move properly, and with them off they dont

basically im finding if a game supports dlss 2.0 theres not much reason not to enable it, and dlss set to quality at 1440p renders at 1080p which makes me cpu bound in basically every game, so i can turn on all the fancy bells and whistles

nice, what's framerates like with DLSS off? 155 FPS with it on and ray tracing sounds really good considering that was one of the early RTX era games. I'd try it out too but the lack of FSR means I'm at a huge disadvantage, as if running an Nvidia featured game wasn't already enough of a disadvantage with their track record on AMD hardware

it has fidelity fx cas and a resolution slider though so you can set it to like, 80% and turn cas on and it will look fine

with dlss off and rt shadows off i get 150 fps, i didnt try with rt shadows on, but its gonna be somewhere between 100 - 110 based on that

dlss on and RT shadows is basically the same performance as dlss off without them

they also added dlss to rise, so i will be testing that out whenever that specific patch goes live

they didnt add anything to the 2013 game, but, like, its from 2013 and you could enable DSR and run it at like 5k and it will still get 150+ fps, so theres not much reason

just saying PBO might allow for a further boost but don't be surprised to see temperatures go crazy depending on your cooling conditions. I hear even AIO coolers struggle to keep Zen 3 CPUs with PBO enabled under 70C, luckily there is also curve optimizer that can help

yeah, just got to make sure it is stable which can be a bit of a guess n go type thing with the more cores you have. Not all Zen 3 CPUs can have curve optimizer set to negative 30 on all cores and be stable. That is down to silicon lottery

i did it on each core separately it took like 2 days to get it perfect

i get 20% more performance than stock and it never goes over 75C now when i test cinebench

i could probably do more but i would have to get a bigger cooler

Wow, EA Play really hates my origin account. I figured I logged into EA Play with Xbox instead of my Origin. So removed, reinstalled and logged into the new EA app again but this time logged in with my Origin Account and works, and could play my purchased games in the new beta EA Play app. So I went back to Game Pass and clicked a different old game, Jade Empire, and the whole thing tripped the qbert out. The EA app like crashed itself, and reloaded auto-logging me back into the account Game Pass made me, so def seems Xbox is doing it yet, in linked accounts with EA there is no link/unlink button like all the others, but just manage that takes you to a place that tells you how to link that isn't really helpful.

Its all kind of whack, you can't have origin running at same time as this beta app. I can't really complain cause I'm getting this free. I certainly don't care enough to pay for EA Play on origin account. I don't even like Origin, and literally everything I own is on EA Play, and can't complain cause I literally never played any of my Origin games so have zero saves to worry about lol. And since not getting rid of Ultimate Game Pass ever, so doesn't really matter. Just means I won't be buying anything til sort their qbert stuff out.

Its impossible to get graphics cards and parts are expensive. I sat on money for doing nothing for a year, 2 trump checks, and months after empty Christmas that got the new Xbox with Hitman 3 since couldn't get a graphics card nor Hitman 3 on Steam. It's seriously almost impossible to choose who is better, it's no longer a landslide to PC like it was 10 years ago. PC does have the 144hz screen, but my TV has the cinematic look with 4K with nicer HDR and dolby atmos sound bar. I just do both with Ultimate Pass and Humble Bundle.

I think the series x controller is so nice and use xbox controllers over keyboard mouse even on PC. One of my biggest peeves with PC even 10 years ago, is I hate how can't leave games and come back. People say they can but i've never had good luck, games always crash if leave and do stuff and come back. Quick Resume seems stupid but its a reason to game on Xbox. I love having like 12 games just sitting waiting right where I left. I last played Celeste like 5 days ago and its right where I left off and won't loaded in 2 seconds and won't have to start at beginning of chapter.

I had built system that worked for several years. When the big new Tomb Raider comes, I want to play on PC best settings and will even take half an hour to get it just right. When Perfect Dark comes will be the same. In fact, until got One X, everything was PC first cause PC was drastically better. Plus hated gaming on Origin/uPlay over Steam. Despite wanting Assassins Creed on PC for same reasons as TR, I was opting for them on Xbox. Did same for online games, as PC populations lacked hardcore and hate cheaters.

But all this changed over time making it so much harder. As Cold War is completely crossplay but I still opted for it on Series X cause mad about how useless Ops4 was on PC, I had done every AC on Xbox going back to AC1 on 360 until did Odyssey on PC and will likely do same for Valhalla, and got Shadow of Tomb Raider on One X (when finally did upgrade graphics to do RTX I rebought).

I have no system, and the biggest factors became achievements, quick resume and do want 4K/60 or 1440/165. Games like Hitman, Evil Within 2, etc. i've ended up just doing Xbox and PC.

I hooked up my atmos sound bar to my PC, and it was messed up and still is a little, but couldn't get audio, paid their outragous fee for the app, and despite every setting possible set for it, randomly fixed my screen to its 144hz over 60 and that of all things fixed it and song started blasting. I liked it on my Series X but for some reason when plugged through it, Xbox doesn't like it, and won't do variable refresh or 120hz. Plus kind of whack that need a monitor with hdmi 2.1 for hdr.

EA on PC is so jacked. Dead Space 2 just looks sooo much better, but no achievements or cloud saves is dead breaker and EA Play won't let me just play it on Origin, literally would let me re-sign up for EA Play despite in same account. This is so weird, I was installing FH5 on my PC from GamePass, then had to reboot computer, the download had to restart from the beginning but now, even if I ask it to start (re-start actually) the pre-install, it does its "Preparing..." but instead of going "Downloading" it just disappears. really well. I'm still gaming at 1440p for now and for the most part I'm seeing FPS sticking in the triple digits at maxed settings. Graphics are nice too with some really nice spots. Though I found an annoying bug that I hope is fixed for when it is meant to release where the game doesn't let you in if vsync is disabled. Will freeze up on the first menu. Only fix I found for it is to press alt + enter on the settings (it registers the enter key press as an input so it will allow you into the menus to enable vsync to then load the game as it should). Other than that the game seems really good 🙂

most people likely talk about the pixel density of a 4K 28" display being bad with 27-32" being more of a sweet spot for 1440p. Personally I wouldn't see it being too big of an issue when using it with the Series X just be sure to connect the HDMI 2.1 cable you get with the console to the HDMI port on the monitor (should also be HDMI 2.1) to enjoy nearly all the benefits HDMI 2.1 brings. Freesync, 4K 120Hz and HDR with low latency all active together 🙂

also, I haven't noticed any high VRAM usage on FH5 yet. How high are we talking?

exactly what I done buying the LG C1 48" it is OLED and people claim it doesn't get very bright but I say otherwise. Screen can be very bright when viewing HDR content. I may have lucked out and got myself one of the EVO displays that were originally reserved only for the G1. There is no brightness issue I've come across as yet. TV is stunning but the price tag is around £1000 too. Bargain imo with all the features it packs

Neither of which come close in contrast ratio or full array local dimming zones

for 4K 240Hz to work we'll need Displayport 2.0 and that would also allow 8K at higher refresh rates if the rumoured 80 gbps bandwidth is true. Almost double that of even HDMI 2.1's full 48 gbps

Both the PG27UQX and PG32UQX are priced far too ridiculously to be taken seriously imo. Ok if you have the sort of money to spare to buy them but I feel buyers are getting robbed and what I had to laugh at the most was the PG32UQX doesn't even come with HDMI 2.1 so if I'm not mistaken, to actually maintain 4K at 144Hz and 10bpc the user would have to use DSC. For a monitor as high spec and priced as it is I would expect nothing but the very best quality in terms of features etc

the ones that do creep past 4 cores usage might just be to 6 or 8 cores. I've yet to see a single game put my 5600X to 100% CPU usage

ahh, I haven't played Cyberpunk in about a month. Downloading it right now though. I can't even remember the FPS I got but played close to maxed settings minus ray tracing and psycho reflections

i tried raytracing and got like 60 maybe 70 fps

but that was with the dynamic upscaling thing enabled

heh I remember getting 20 FPS or so with everything maxed when I gave that a try. Was horrible xD

I try to target no less than 60 FPS when I play any game which currently at 1440p has proven to be quite easy with most games closer to triple figures than 60 FPS but now I have an LG C1 and all that is stopping me from using it is a better desk or I'd be gaming at 4K and perhaps struggling to maintain 60 FPS in a few titles without lowering a few settings or using FSR

Does anyone know if, when using a controller on PC, I can change the default bind of holding down the share button to record the last 30 seconds and not start a new recording - AKA, make it the same as it is on Series X? I built a new PC but am not ready to give up the controller, but the only way to record clips is to use the keyboard... from what I've found. Game bar allows the record clip bind to be re-mapped, but seemingly only for keyboard. Or am I missing something? Currently, holding share starts recording as opposed to recording a clip. Cheers!

i was so disappointed with how Halo infinite ran on my Computer until i ended up downloading the drivers Postums linked to on Steam forums and my fps went from 90 to up to 200

I think what's bothering me the most is the low gravity especially during a 1v1. I also can't recover as easily to heal and reload as I can in Apex
