Why would you use FG with a 5090
To see how much FPS it would produce
AHH
Okay good don't play with it on normally
Why not 😄
Because of latency
You only get inputs in on real frames
So you have 3 frames of 0 input
- you don't have a 1000hz monitor
I don’t notice anything wrong in single player games.
480Hz, close enough 😝
0 point in 900fps in real games especially when you can't take advantage of it
1440 or 1080
That better be 1440 or you are bottlenecking your system
Is it standard 1440 or is it ultrawide
24ms native,
27ms FG x4
A shooter is a terrible example of that
Standard
3ms is a lot more than you'd expect in a shooter like doom
And you'll get 420 fps by itself in doom with a 5090
Don't use FG unless you NEED too
Same for dlss you have a $3k GPU
Don't use stuff like that unless you need too you can 100% run it
I played God of War with Quality FG and it looked, played amazing!
You mean quality upscaling
Why the hell would you upscale 1440p with a 5090
You have a 5090 not a ps5
Because lower temps
There is no 5090 that has cooling issues unless you messed with it
If I can’t notice the difference, I’ll take the system chilling on minimal use
You're telling me
You paid $3k for a gpu but you're using it like a 5080
It won't break
Use it to it's full potential
I’m using it how I prefer to use it,
And no, I want to keep utilisation as low as possible
This stuff makes me so mad man use it like it's a flagship you do not need dlss at 1440p
I need it
Wth do you want to keep temps low for
100% utilization on a 5090 is not happening at 1440p 420hz
So my room isn’t an oven, system is quiet and the satisfaction that the game is maxed out and GPU is at like 29% usage 😄
Native 1440p is not hard to run on a 4070 let alone a 5090 which is the only native 4k card
Like man
Didn’t notice a difference tbh and I notice differences
It's a native 4k card, just turn off dlss and it's going to look so much better
You don't, games look SO much better without dlss and FG bro 😭
Use it like a 5090 not a 1080ti
You will NOT max it out I promise you
I mean no one saw my in game screenshots and went “hmm, that’s FG” 😄
You don't notice FG on screenshots unless you're moving or have something in the background moving
You need a video to capture FG it's a movement problem with FG
I promise you - I was moving for 60 hours in game - it looked incredible
It'll look better on your $3k gpu if you stop holding it back
It's a NATIVE 4k card
I see RT artifacting
Where
Turn FG off
In the floor reflections??
Have you never played with FG off before????
Have you never experienced native rendering
This is making me question so much dude
I played games before FG existed, ofc 😄
That RT looks so bad dude
Looks good to me 😝
You're at 1440
Seriously the 5090 can run 4k native
I see FG artifacting in the background
You're at 1440 at most FG 2x is ALL you need
You do not need more than 420 FPS
(If it's AI frames)
AI frames do not lower latency, only real frames do
There's no point when it makes your games look worse
Here?
Yes
Come on bro 😭
I gave up the native life
WHY????
YOU HAVE A $3k GPU 😭
Nothing AI based can beat native if you can run your monitors specs native
Do it
Doesn’t matter in SP games, for MP I’ll run native
For SP I'd argue differently
At least turn FG doen to 2x and turn DLSS off
You still won't use half of your GPU
It looks good but I see AI artifacting
Play native 1440 you will never go back
Seriously man
1440p in 2006 was not
Was not what
Why would you play 1440p in 2006
Okay so
Now TLOU2 got DLSS4 but haven’t tried it yet
You're lying cause 1440p wasn't widely availible until 2010 and no GPU could run 1440p in 2006 that well if at all
I'm gonna be honest with you
That looks terrible
God of war looked good I'll give you credit you had to be paying attention
But that looks like it's 720p with TAA
Upscaled to 1440
That’s my old PC - that there is a 30” Dell UltraSharp Monitor that is 1440p
It might have been 2007 but it was definitely 06/07,
I had 2x 8800 GTX cards
What gpu
I then upgraded to a 295 GTX not long after
256 cuda cores isn't running 1440p unless the color depth is 4 bit
Like what
Like whatever was out at that time
8800GTX has 128 CUDA cores
GTA,
Gears of War,
Oblivion,
Etc
And you had under 900mb of usable memory because each card needed a copy of each texture
I don’t think you realise it was a monster and the best GPU you can buy at that time.
That monitor looks like it's 1080p
I had 2 of them.
It’s 30” if it was 1080p the windows wouldn’t look like that.
So you had under 900mb of usable vram
Yes it would
Most monitors at the time were 720 / 1080
So sure it would not to mention you can make it smaller
Eh fair
But seriously
Stop using AI to enhance your games play them native it's so much better esp when your pc is fully capable of it
Your PC won't break man
If a game has DLSS4 & FG - I’ll be using it in SP
Did you custom build your pc at least
Custom Ordered
Is it hard lined
Wdym?
Is it hard line water cooled
I might get a new PC start of next year if our finances allow us 😄
And depending on how Battlefield runs, the alpha was ok but not good enough for me performance-wise
I’m going to do a fresh build for E-Day
I want to be running the game on the best hardware
Should probably be ok, currently on 3080ti and i9-12900k but the performance was kinda crappy, 1440p all low and i was ''only'' getting 60-100fps with a lot of drops
Was a pre-alpha so I guess itll be improved
Should still be decent
Id like 120 minimum, think thats doable
Plus with optimised drivers
If not maybe ill just upgrade a few parts
Id like to postpone a new PC a bit given that I got this one in january 2022
I’m sure DDR6 RAM will be due end of this year or next year too
Ideally id like to wait for the nvidia 6000 series to upgrade
anyopne else getting error messages while trying to use pc games
That’s a very broad question lol
Steam games epic games etc...
considering im posting this on the xbox server i think that narrows it down heavily
Hi, I have a potato laptop (RX580 4Gb, R7 1700, 32Gb RAM) I played Gears 5 when it released on PC (at the time it was non official copy, but since then I play on XSX) and it runned very well at 1080p, high presets (pretty steady 60fps) but when I recently installed the game through PC Game Pass it seems that the game doesn't run that well on the same PC, it's like barely hits 60fps and the 1% is hitting low 40s and bellow even on medium or low!! Is it some Denuvo thing hampering the performance? Is there is any solution for that?!
You could try running the in-game benchmark to see where the bottleneck is and then make some changes to the game settings
what do you mean gng
Yes
10k USD for a gaming GPU
especially how much gpus cost rn over msrp like at least 200 to 300 min
Over msrp??
10k is the MSRP of the RTX 6000 pro
We HAVE a 6th gen card, it's just
So expensive
its not 6th gen though
itd be 60 series if anything, which we already have
we've had 6000 for ages
🙄
GPUs here have gone back down
No longer above RRP
That’s not a “6th Gen Card”
bro its 720 p
Bro it’s actually 1600p
It’s 16:10
2560x1600
Source Dell - 3007WFPT Ultrasharp 30in 2560 x 1600 Widescreen LCD Monitor at unbeatable prices with quick delivery from HardDiskDirect.co.uk.
thing is the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell isn’t a gaming GPU. Its workstation, hence the higher cost. $10,000 vs $2000 for around a 15% increase in performance would be really silly
Might as well be considering the 2nd mortgage
like fo NASA and the like?
decided to use grip tape and its lucky i did 😊
cant really tell in that photo but its gone dark pink from my hair lol
It’s not always even that much, it’s game dependent so could be a few percent which is made up by the overclock anyway
is there a thing such as a shadowban from gamebar lfg? all seems to work except the post button
can someone tell me why the xbox app downloads stuff so slow
Intel decides to replace the motherboard with a new one in the next generation of intel processors
huh?
this means that to buy a processor from Intel you need to buy motherboards and new cooling (it's not necessary about cooling, but it's better to change it)
Intel to Switch to New LGA Socket
don't think I've seen anything official about it but I am aware of a new socket with their next CPUs being expected (again!)
Well, if I'm not joking, I haven't heard of anyone buying an Intel Core Ultra 2nd generation for a PC.
because of this I think that the 3rd generation ultra for PC will be a loss for Intel
on laptops of course people have to buy ultra processors
people have bought it but I don't think the general reception of the Intel Core Ultra 200 series has been on the good side. I've seen some deals in some regions that would suggest retailers are getting a bit desperate to get rid of stock and are discounting them quite heavily while bundled with some other components lol
2nd generation ultra if I'm not mistaken loses in gaming power to 14th generation intel i
biggest problems I think Intel has with those CPUs is the lack of hyperthreading. Their first CPU in something like 13 generations I think not to include it and that can hurt performance under certain conditions. E cores are still present so it is at max an 8P+16E core configuration with a maximum of 24 cores while the older 14th gen supported hyperthreading giving a total of 8/16P+16E cores
those extra hyperthreaded cores on the older 14th gen CPUs is what allows it to either beat or at worst match the Core 200 series under certain conditions
I currently have a 13th Gen Intel Core 1335U energy efficient laptop. In terms of power and energy efficiency, it is worse than its competitor on Ryzen U
Intel literally only has gaming laptops. In other respects it is inferior to Amd
yeah, AMD have kind of become something of an efficiency monster with their CPUs. Their desktop CPUs are very efficient too
but to be honest, m processors are better than them in everything, but they don't work on Windows.
well yes extreme processors are slightly modified u ryzen
I think there is a lot more to them than that. Ryzen U processors might be a generation behind their desktop counterparts or I seem to remember something of Ryzen being a generation behind. I might be thinking of the Ryzen G lineup
I learned about this from an Asus Rog Ally ad from a sold YouTuber who works with Asus
i dont think their goal was to make them do better in gaming though
and ryzen u doesn't lose much power at 20 watts consumption
theyre incredibly efficient in AI tasks and junk
You are right. Their goal is to make the processor work well at work.
👍
but for us, as an ordinary user, there is no particular difference between Ryzen 3dx and Intel Core Ultra
at work a better video card is more important
if ordinary user just means a gamer then no not really just pick whatever decent cpu there is at a good price
I'm talking about work at work
whether its amds 9xxx or intels 14xxx or 2xx or whatever
if it works it works just play games 😊
it's just that intel is focusing on work at work and not on games in intel core ultra it's stupid
Well of course there are server processors but Intel Core Ultra is not a processor for servers
Sorry for the aggression, I just love Intel, I am offended by what Intel does
Im currently have 1 monitor. If i upgrade to a dual monitor setup 1 for game and other for everything else will gpu have a worse perf than a single monitor
no
the duailty between Amd and Intel
AMD keeping it efficient while Intel requires 400 watts
where does intel require 400w
14900KS
doing what
(under full load :^))
In der8auers run on cinebench it ran at 400 watts
yes, a niche CPU thats intentionally designed to run with a high power draw draws a lot of power when you run it in specialised scenarios
using that to claim "intel requires 400w" is a bit silly thoughh
not a single consumer cpu draws anywhere close to 400w in most ordinary use cases
especially if all youre doing is gaming where none even top 100w
userbenchmark post ^
how would that be a userbenchmark post when theyre known to be hilariously biased towards intel
actually yeah i see it nvm
its not like its wrong though, thats exactly the case. no intel cpus are drawing remotely close to 400w if youre gaming. it makes no sense to use a niche scenario to try to push the message that "intel requires 400w"
its not like a 14100f is gonna need 400w.
also in the end it particularly didnt matter if it used 400 or 100 watts
a bunch of 13th and 14th gens are dead because of a microcode issue that took months to fix, causing even more irreparable damage
which was largely an issue with the board partners too, not solely intels fault
And on top of that intels general handling of the situation, not accepting RMA's Intel was continuously shooting their foot
intel accepts all RMAs right now 😛
right now yeah but when it actually mattered they dragged their feet
on top of that the new gen of intel is barely even talked about. Only time i hear it is through sponsors of people giving away pre-builts (and the MSI claw lol) and as far as im aware they're not too great for gaming because of how the intel cores are designed (although i hear its productivity performance is good)
thinking the new gen is barely talked about is just observational bias
its ridiculously good at what its intended for, which isnt gaming
the 285K is very efficient in AI workloads, simulations such as NAMD, and rendering + encoding 😛
most users have no reason to care about any of these things which is why in the gaming hardware communities the newest gen isnt brought up too much outside of "ok that was a flop"
It was a flop for gaming when the old one beats it 😄
yeah i already covered this though
as far as im aware it was never a goal to have the newest ones perform better than the previous ones in gaming
they outperform the previous 14/13th by a lot in AI tasks and other shenanigans though
I mean, you would hope the new ones outperforms the old ones
i mean sure you can hope that with anything really but i wouldnt exactly go online and start saying its a useless series when it was never intended to be better in gaming
It was never intended to be better at gaming? - come on now - you can’t say a “new processor” that’s out is supposed to be and completely fine to be worse than the previous 😄
No where that I recall Intel saying anything of the sort
Nor did I see any reviewer mention this
its not worse than the previous. it completely destroys the previous. it just so happens to be a bit worse at gaming.
for what it actually matters in the new intel cpus are amazing
Not entirely true
Saying gaming isn’t irrelevant is a big understatement
what is it then? seems pretty true to me.
i think its a fair judgement considering the current price point of the CPUs and the clear performance differences in business orientated workloads such as simulations and machine learning
its not like gaming is irrelevant but i have no idea why one is supposed to expect them to continue to beat previous gens in gaming whilst also excelling in other areas of use
if you have a 285K i think its pretty fair to assume that theres a decent liklihood its business funded or at least partially funded, and considering it still provides pretty good gaming performance (somewhere around the 14600K) and top notch performance in other areas... it seems pretty good.🤷♂️
its not like the difference between the 14900K and the 285K is hundreds of frames
youre paying a minor trade off in gaming performance for a significant boost in other areas
LGA1851 is also pretty silly for RAM OC too, if that matters at all whatsoever.
every single 6000 MHz entry on HWBot is on the 1851 platform and so is a significant portion of the higher 5000 MHz entries
all of this heavily strayed from my original point though
all i wanted to get across was "intel requires 400w" is basically just bait. using niche situations to preach that "intel" (not even a specific SKU, just intel.) needs 400w is quite silly.

im fully aware its against the 7800x3d
its not like the 9800x3d is much better
am i supposed to take this seriously
this is LTT? its an entertainment channel?
Next 2?
Yeah 35% is nothing
seems totally fine to me? some games have larger differences than other, depending on the testing suite you can find larger or smaller differences. TPU shows a smaller difference, at about 15% @ 1080p and Techspot shows like 20% or something
in the end it depends on what games are being played but overall the 285K is a worse CPU in gaming 😛
i think its a bit silly that both of us are getting so hung up on the 285K/Core Ultra in gaming though. we both know its worse.
LGA1851 has made advancements in other areas and the tradeoff was gaming 😛
all in all, "intel requires 400w" isnt true.
If you watched the HU video
It also lost on all the productivity tests against the 9950X3D.
Hardware Unboxed doesnt talk about any of the productivity points i ever cared about though? if it did, i would have mentioned them
i specifically mentioned machine learning and scientific simulations
It also lost in every productivity tests here

AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU launches on March 12, 2025 with an MSRP of $700, accompanied by the 9900X3D at $600 MSRP. We're reviewing and benchmarking the AMD 9950X3D CPU vs. alternatives, like the 9800X3D, Intel 285K (lol), 14900K, and base 9950X. Testing includes benchmarks ...
yeah... the exact same tests...
I'd never use a 285K
for any productivity task
might as well just use an ipad at that point
these arent machine learning or simulations such as NAMD though
im aware
what im saying is still right though, theyre faster.
on what?
quite a bit faster
the 285K is one of the slowest performance CPU's in the current market, especially for cost
you're genuinely better off buying a Xeon
NAMD chemistry simulations??
why else would i mention NAMD three times
I've heard nothing but the opposite
it was the fastest last year sure. but not by much
where have you heard that the 285K is slower in medical/science research simulations compared to a 14900K or a 9950X
It's slower in genome, it's almost neck and neck with the 265 in COMSOL
NAMD is the only one where it had a slight edge over the 265
and that's almost a year ago. not factoring current CPU
you're genuinely better off getting a 265 if you're doing medical
It’s the entire consensus on both sides of gaming & productivity that the Intel 285K has been a disappointment.
that's what all of the labs here equip with if they use distribution chips that aren't server-grade
the 265 is also on core ultra which is ultimately my point 😊
but my original point which is the only one i really cared about until i dragged myself into this was that "intel needs 400w" is bait
core ultra is irrelevant
it's a product naming
the chips themselves are very different
i dont fancy typing out LGA1851 every single time i want to talk about them
for how much more expensive the 285k is
it's pathetically more performant if it even is in those instances
#pc-gaming message
😊 im heading off
Core 7 outperforming Core 9 on medical grade calculations is
not great
double the cost for fractional improvements in only one test
in no way is that a good purchasing or logical decision
especially for 4 less cores and 4 less threads
like you could make an argument to actually support your case, but you'd have to actually make good points for that to work
NAMD just isn't it
"the intel core 2 duo is just leagues ahead of the i9 family in power draw" is a similar take
but it's an equally illogical one
if someone actually cared about sim performance and nothing else, when looking in the 500+ price range, they're just go with a xeon and virtualize multiple environments to perform simultaneous calculations
or just run single calculations faster using the whole cpu
and for what it's worth.
AMD EPYC is the cpu used in that field
Well said
I’m also excited for Sunday
Can’t wait to see some games at the showcase!
some people think that I'm wrong when I say that the 2nd generation of ultra processors are bad.
First I wanted to explain to you what is more important in the work of an ordinary person.
The video card is always more important than the CPU in normal work. honestly there is no particular difference in working with ryzen x3d with ultra 2nd generation because you work more importantly the video card and not the CPU
Ultra is not a server cpu and not a half server cpu.Ultra is a processor for ordinary people
Intel justifies the weak performance of its processors by saying that they are supposedly designed for work, not for gaming.
if I have AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D then nothing will stop me from doing animation, video editing, 3D modeling with pleasure and then further
because in normal work on a PC the video card is more important than the CPU
only in games the cpu is as important as the video card.Of course there are exceptions, for example server processors, but Intel Ultra 2nd generation are not one of them
kek
9060 XT released today and seems pricing wasn't too far off, though I wonder if that is only temporary with an increase to follow after about a week of sales or something
I don't know, I'm not really a fan of radeons
RTX 5060 Ti Looks More Powerful Than RX 9060 XT
but it seems like the RX 9060 XT is not more expensive than the RTX 5060?
I didn't even think to check but will now. One moment
9060 XT 16GB seem to start at £314.99 and go up to £399.95 while the 5060 Ti starts from £389.99 and goes up to £499.99. Not sure how both models compare to each other in head to heads but considering it was close between the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT I would think it will be similar here too
Pricing was from Overclockers UK btw
thanks.
16gb is
5060ti is better
But not by much
no one ever said it was a thing about not being able to do so
its just some perform better than others
You're wrong
You just don't do CPU heavy work
Because you don't see or do work that requires a fast processor, doesn't mean that work doesn't exist, because if it didn't threadrippers would not be a thing
I said that intel core ultra 2nd generation is for ordinary people and it is stupid to compare it with threadripper

There's a 2nd generation now lmao
I didn't know that
They are gonna be better at work loads than a 9800x3d tho, simply because they have more cores
the first generation was only on laptops, the second generation on regular PCs and laptops
That makes sense actually
I stopped caring abt intel after the x3d chips released
For many, this won't really interfere with their work
It will
Having more than 8 cores for work dramatically speeds up waiting times
I'm talking it's dramatically faster, 8 core CPUs are gaming chips and shouldn't be used for work
no
this depends entirely on the nature of the work, and size of projects
Not really
Blender, video editing, etc all can use more than 8 cores
Most are capped at 64, so having more than 8 more than always speeds workloads up unless you're using word exclusively, then why do you need more than a core 2 duo or an i3 💀
and not all cores are equal... 8 strong cores is generally better than 16 much weaker cores
just because they have the ability to, does not mean they will benefit much from doing so in a small project
Plus, not everyone can even afford > 8 cores
Atleast for AM4 the 5900s are actually in a decent range
might pick one up at some point to build a server pc
put the Quadro to work aswell

something I've been wondering recently. I've been gaming on my PC at 1080p with my monitor's dual mode feature more often and it got me thinking that I have the high res assets installed for Diablo 4. I wouldn't need those if I continue to play at 1080p right?

Yeah OLED is so nice. Even makes the switch 2 games look great

Made a small list of stuff I want from my next one that is improvements on what I already have including: RGB subpixel layout and max Displayport 2.1 and HDMI 2.2 bandwidth support (that is not a typo with HDMI btw). I'd happily stick to 4K 240Hz or maybe look at higher refresh rates while sticking to 4K, especially if that monitor also supported a 1080p dual mode again
Pretty sure my monitor is a QD oled with a glossy screen
guys, i need some help with my account
No, they don’t exist
Some QD’s use an older “Semi-Glossy” layer but it’s not true glossy like a TV.
i still can't play online, even after enableing my account settings
Idk but it just says its a glossy screen

Definitely not the same
To be fair this is one of the times where it seems like a feasible improvement
To me, a lot of the time, new display tech is like ‘look at big number go bigger’
I want clean mouse pad
I have black case and monitor and white desk
I want a mouse pad that matches these colors.
one thing I'd love to have the most is colour accurate displays. Whether that is a TV or monitor but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the oversaturation on monitors. Calibrated my monitor to sRGB via the software LG has and it still looks great
Im gonna invest in a gaming floor mat and a keyboard mat for the first time
Im having vinyl flooring installed
whats a keyboard mat
Think a mouse pad big brother for keyboard and mouse
ok so just a desk pad really. dont think ive ever heard it referred to as a keyboard mat
but cool 👍
personally i use the Aqua Control II.
Thinking on getting ktrio
That’s why I love ASUS monitors as they’re factory calibrated out the box.
i dont have money for the pc game pass😭
I thought that only applied to certain picture modes like an sRGB preset? usually ASUS provide some information on that though iirc
Then save up thats what everyone do for game pass
jajajaja
Yeah they usually calibrate it to a mode that they think is the most accurate and then you can just fine tune it for HDR.
thing is that mode may not be the default used out of the box so will often look oversaturated as a result and HDR (Rec.2020) using a completely different colourspace to SDR (sRGB) it will look washed out if you were to only use the mode ASUS calibrated, not to mention Windows HDR isn't really that great until watching content made for it. I wish there was a way Windows could detect and allow the user to change to HDR on the fly rather than having to look at a washed out desktop that is using sRGB
I would rather wait for a way to calibrate HDR the same way SDR can be. For whatever reason hardly any software or hardware supports it properly but when it does that’ll be when HDR finally goes places. How long has HDR been around for now at this point? Not like it is a new thing
I think the only software that allows proper HDR calibration is that Calman software you typically see tech reviewers use on monitors or TVs they are reviewing when they get around to the detailed colour stuff but that software costs over 4x what my monitor cost (£983) me I think. That’s how limited proper HDR calibration seems to be
They give you a sheet and it explains what they’ve done.
I don’t think it’s that deep.
I used the Windows HDR Calibration and it worked fine - at the end of the day, tune it to what you like and be happy with it.
It’s not life and death 😄
I still even prefer SDR in Windows Games and don’t even turn on HDR 90% of the time.
This is SDR.
Experience the origins of one of gaming’s most acclaimed franchises like never before, faithfully remastered and optimized for Xbox and PC.
Anyone interested in getting the beta!
can the new xbox rog ally be considered a pc?
It is a PC
I’ll be on both beta weekends most likely
I want a steering wheel for the computer at a good price and good quality
Nice
I’ll be on from Saturday
yo
on the calibration thing from last night. I can use some software from LG to calibrate it to various colourspaces (native, DCI-P3, sRGB and a few others) and while HDR calibration is possible via this software, not every LG display is supported as features will vary from model to model. My monitor unfortunately (and somewhat surprisingly) doesn't support HDR calibration yet one of the older ones that was 1440p does, which to me makes little sense. I should also add that in order to calibrate using this software you will need a colorimeter
why do you want to use HDR anyway, dont you use windows
that I do yeah and occasionally I use HDR but really not that often
would be cool just to be able to try and calibrate HDR so that I know the content I'm viewing displays colours accurately and I'm really not sure the Windows HDR Calibration tool does that or can go far enough without requiring the use of a colorimeter too. Wasn't that built around the same (or very similar) HDR calibration feature Xbox consoles have and isn't it only limited to Auto HDR?
Exactly 😄
What’s wrong with using HDR on windows?
Absolutely nothing
I'm just not a fan of how it is implemented on Windows and having very little to no option to be able to calibrate HDR properly (with use of equipment like a colorimeter) is all. When it is in use it is fine though
windows HDR is relatively well known to be not-the-best
but like what else are you gonna use it with
especially auto HDR. its just a free wash-out filter
glorified SDR, yum.
Yeah
Extremely washed out if I turn it on
SDR looks much better imo
Plus desktop use for me is a no go
So I leave it in SDR mode
i just use defaults. i have a HDR profile i set up a while ago but im not silly enough to use HDR on windows when i have basically no hdr content
I’ve tuned it a little to my liking
Nothing extreme.
nice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb5excrfbHk interesting video related to an option added in Windows 11 that is somewhat related to calibration
Windows could be ruining your monitor’s colors without you even noticing. Microsoft introduced a feature that's called "Automatically manage color for apps" (ACM). It can improve color accuracy, but it can also have the opposite effect.

Is there such thing as saving graphics settings for a game? Like some days I fancy custom settings for the best fps, other days I prefer visual quality. Random thought and curious on opinions
Usually, no
Although graphics profiles would be great.
Closest thing you will get is Graphics Presets
Depends how the settings are saved. If it writes to an ini file, for example, you could keep a backup of each configuration and swap it in. But it may just be easier to keep a screenshot of what you had things set to and switch it back.
You could use something like the nvidia app. It literally has a slider where you can choose between performance or quality.
is that the part of the app that tries to optimize in game settings to suit one of those ways? if so I'm not sure I'd trust it much as it may push higher resolutions that could hurt performance through super resolution (and I'm not talking DLSS)
Hey guys yall got any time specific on when eafc 25 will come out?
No time has been announced.
oh alright
Yeah, was just thought. I don't use it personally.
Stupid question! How do I disconnect my controller when I'm finished using it with the Xbox PC adapter? Right now I go into devices and click remove. But that means I must pair it again when I want to use it. Other than removing the USB - is there an easier way?
I feel like there's an easier way but idk what it is - on my Series X I just press home then turn off the controller. for future reference. Hold down the Xbox home button for like 10 seconds and it will turn off!
Hold the Xbox button and it powers off.
Yeah I was trying for like 5 seconds but wasn't doing anything 😅 just needed to a bit longer. Thank you.
Hu
I want good 256 gb nvme ssd
Go for at least 1 TB. 256 is good for the OS if you want like super fast boot.
especially with how large some modern games r
I'd just go for at least 1TB as a decent M.2 SSD these days can come in at £50 per TB or less. Compared to the few exceptions where it can exceed that quite a bit even 2TB might be possible but it might be worth asking on here before jumping at the first thing you see as some M.2 SSDs may be tied to SATA making them not much, if at all faster than a SATA SSD (though idk if that is an old thing now or what) and another thing to watch out for I believe is DRAMless M.2 SSDs as they tend to perform a bit worse than those with some DRAM on them while coming in cheaper
M.2 SSDs (assuming pcie because thats basically what everyone refers to) doesnt benefit much, if at all, from DRAM if all you use your ssd for is just gaming and general OS business
unlike SATA drives it uses HMB which uses a small part of your systems RAM
iirc its way more important for dram on a sata then a nvme?
also never knew this but gross
why is it gross
yeah because SATA doesnt have HMB
because i must dedicate all my ram to 1127 tabs of firefox
its an incredibly minor amount of RAM
like ~100 mb at most
my pc dont open xbox app, someone can help?

the 5500x3d is a real thing
amd keeping am4 alive and well just for funsies at this point
really? they should just focus on am5 then stick to am4 at this point. yeah a few years ago when am4 and am5 had roughly the same perf now am5 all the way
they shouldve stayed on am4 if they like it so much
its pretty easy to sell bad bin chips to people if you put X3D on the end of it
why does games on ea install so slow
I have a 128 GB NVMe that I use as a flash drive
Really?
yes
cheap enclosure + cheap nvme is better value performance wise than buying a flash drive
no platform wars here

😭 “The Witcher 4” won’t drop until 2027?! Looks like i’ll be aiming for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” and see what’s up w/ that game in the near future. The only thing I don’t like about The Witcher is the in-game font is so tiny imo. Ontop of that “GTA VI” isn’t dropping until May 26, 2026😩 Any good (PC) or (Xbox) games with a good story anyone know of? I hear “The Last of Us”, “Elden Ring”, &“Beyond: Two Souls”. What other games do you guys recommend?
Red dead redemption 2
Yeah, thats another great one!!

Does anyone know if the Gears Reloaded code that was sent out is compatible with Steam? Or is it only for PC Gamepass?
just xbox PC as its a xbox code from xbox not steam code
do you need microsoft store downloaded in order to sync your accounts up?
No
then why does it say mismatch ive done the rest of the solutions it feels 😭
Hi
Downloaded SplitGate 2 & The Alters
I was getting constant micro stutters
This helped fixed it for me
This fix is for anyone having issues in Unreal Engine Games like I was.
Global C states might be off with the auto option? Now that’s chaotic as I would have thought auto defaulted to enabled for that option
It seems so.
Because having it on fixed my stutters immediately.
The Alters is free on Game Pass if anyone wants to try it/test it out.
Out of curiosity what power plan/mode are you using because iirc using the high performance will disable the c states automatically and since Zen 3 hasn’t been recommended by AMD to be used as they favour the balanced power profile
Balanced
You’re a bit sus. You posted the link 5 times, 2 places don’t belong in the channel.
yea i just sent modmail a message about it

i tried many many times
i’m not sus i’m just tryna get it around
Well don't.

Hello, I have a problem with the Xbox application on my computer. I'm running at around 20 megabits, whereas on the Epic Game and Steam launcher I'm at 500-700 megabits. I also did a speed test, I'm at 700 megabits per download and 900 megabits per upload. I would like to resolve this problem as quickly as possible, please, because installing games over 100 GB takes a very long time.
this is pc gaming isnt it?
so im promoting my pc for pc gaming

Anything interesting going on in the puter space?
all i heard about is a new Zen 5 cpu with its igpu disabled
doesn't seem to be much else than that at the moment that wouldn't descend into rumours and leaks talk
@barren radish
You still need help with slow Xbox speed's ? Networking is something im varygood at.
It's not disabled it just straight up doesn't have one
Besides that though, nothing
Only real downside is that you wouldn’t be able to use an igpu to test with

Anyone know how to fix error code 0x800704c6. I have tried nearly every fix on the internet and nothing has worked?!?!
guys what is a good mouse, I'm using a razer deathadder v2 and the side rubber grips are turning into goo so im looking up other mice and i have no idea where to start looking, i really love the deathadder shape so im thinking glorious model d?
i'm a steelseries fan myself
the program isn't bad, mice are decent
though i mostly buy because the program isn't hot garbage like razors
o yea id prefer no or very light software
if you like the deathadder shape just get the deathadder v3 pro
otherwise its hard to recc a mouse without knowing your hand size and grip style
ive had reliability issues with razer before
the mouse has been the most reliable with only once or twice where it bugged out in the several years ive had it
ok so you encountered issues with razer one time a while back and now the deathadder v3 pro is bad or am i misunderstanding
because its a good mouse if youre a fan of the shape
tho if you dont want the deathadder id just suggest whatever lamzu mice you like the shape of.
all of their newest ones use omron opticals which is cool.
i use the maya X and the atlantis champion
both in pink.
i like the deathadder because its very tanky and feels nice to use
@smoky flame also i know you mentioned if it was possible but someone managed to stick fsr 4 on the 7000 series
Quailty is better then FSR3 but it does take a performance hit, around 30 to 40%
(80 to 56 on cyberpunk, in and around 20 to 30% worse performance in Oblivion)
So TLDR unless if AMD tried very hard to make it work you'd be better off just increasing your resolution and quailty settings
(on the xtx btw)
yeah, I've seen that and it might be possible for RDNA 3 to see FSR 4 with the help of FP16 fallback (seeing as RDNA 4 uses FP8) but the performance hit could wipe out any advantage something like the 7900 XTX had over a 9070 XT, favouring the latter in head to heads where FSR 4 is supported and tested
oh also in other news steam overlay will soon be getting its own performance monitor settings. CPU util, gpu util, memory, clocks, temps, and it will show the fps from fsr and dlss and from frame gen
yep, that is a
move from Steam. Waiting for it to go public though as I'm not one for jumping into betas etc. Would rather deal with less issues
sweet how about the amf stuff? or is that still on the amd app only?
all frame gen
when is the update out?
im not sure its still in beta atm
i thought thats only for fsr3 as amf is a driver level frame gen or whatever it is
theres more info in their article
hey guys i need help with something, so im trying to update a game on pc gamepass but whenn i do i keep getting an error, and its not been letting me play any games

Hello
yo guys, I came more for the tag than anything else XD but I've just been reading the xbox news about XboxOS finally being able to use the windows desktop now and task switching with an xbox controller, then all this with being able to install steam and epic on it, is just insane, if yall got more news on this I wanna eat it all up, bc rog stuff isn't great, and it would be cool for an upcoming pc handheld with xboxOS to have joycons like a switch, and if there's any rumors on that
We don't allow discussion of rumours/leaks here, so only things that have been officially announced.
buh
do any of you play hold fast
can i ask questions here?
you may or may not get an answer but sure lol
does anyone know where i can find the exe of a game? more specifically grounded?
what's that
oh so like hidhide to stop my controller from messing with the game is against rules ok mb
hey how do i open games from the exe?
Buy and download it from GOG
idk where's the assumption that i don't own the game coming from im just trying to open it from the exe
my tags jaywrldddd you can check😭😭
😭 launching it from gog gives you the exe
oh i thought u were being sarcastic idk what gog is im mainly on steam i barely touch xbox app💔💔
but what is it? and is it a file or is it like a separate thing?
Are you trying to find the .exe from Steam? Or Game Pass?
Big deals on
game pass
what's gog stand for so i can search it up when i wake up
Good Old Games
why do you want to find specific files? youve already said you mainly use steam.
steams executables are hidden in the big green play button

xbox app you just click on the game i think 🤔
Razer Naga Pro
im clueless with mouse. i dont think i need that many programmable buttons. something egronomic with some backlight/rgb
I’ve always just used my Razer deathadder for both as it’s pretty comfortable
I got a G903 LightSpeed
because i want to open the game via exe. i dont see how that can possibly be a problem
refer to my previous message
#pc-gaming message
theres some general well rounded mice such as the vxe r1 pro but if you actually care about your mouse you should probably look for specific recommendations based on how you hold your mouse and how big your hand is
is it normal for a laptop that exeeds the borderlands 2 reccomended specs not launching
whats the laptop?
bare minimum windows 11
do you know the parts?
wow what kinda athlon
just looked it up and its way newer than it sounded

it worked now
I have an RTX 3050 GPU on my laptop.
I would say no. There is a compatiblity issue.
How to install the Xbox game launcher on PC if it requires me to update my Windows, what I for some reasons cannot do?
Hello guys how do I check my pc xbox app game download speed ? And time
Like how long it will take to download
normally when you download a game it should show you the speed when you click show queue
windows 95

Looks like we can use ESU on Windows 10 for free now which is interesting. Can do so by either using 1000 Microsoft points or by enabling windows backup for settings. I was wondering if they would make it free considering so many people are on W10 still and seems like they backtracked a bit there.
Oh they actually offer MS 365 Security and Windows Defender Updates up until Oct 2028? That's great news for those who can't upgrade just yet!
Yeah so essentially end of support will be delayed for most people until 2026 now if they sign up for backups and the antivirus via defender will be updated for a few years after that
9600x3d is real
probably going to be only sold in microcenters, specific regions, and or in prebuilts if i had to guess
I don’t understand why there are CPU launches like that when a CPU like a 9600X3D would be very popular. 6-8 cores is plenty for most gamers
Probably to avoid eating into the sales of 9800x3d
hmm, yeah as that would come in cheaper being a lower end SKU
as silly as it is and I know I shouldn't be concerned with the naming or that I really think AMD should reserve the X600 and X800 SKUs for X3D CPUs while the X500 and X700 would be the frequency cores option
im only saying probably as its most common for amd to trend into that direction ie the 5600x3d and 7600x3d being microcenter exclusives, the 5500x3d being sold in latin american countries and the 9600 non x is being put in prebuilts and oems and things in that nature

anyone know if you can get mods on games on xbox app on windows cuz I wanted to play some games with mods and get gta fivem
Yes, you can mod games from the Xbox app.
It may not be supported with all games, but it doesn't prevent modding entirely.
I think it’s just harder
Not really really easy for ue4 and ue5 games. U just need to find the right folder
imagine theres not enough to satisfy global releases
considering theyre just bad bin
can someone help me my audio just gets glitch when i open sea of thieves or when i join a xbox party pls help
Hi
Kindly recommended interesting PC games that I can install online
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
@chrome mountain just bringing it over here but what would be your budget for a motherboard?
and if you have a case you picked out whats the size motherboard can it fit?
for a new pc player i would say atx case and boards is a way to go if they have the space for it
Ooh never been in here before
this place is sacred
Case would be last that’s what other people says in my other server
fair enough, some people like to build around their case
I could even just make my pc case a cardboard box if I wanted lol
truly
true but open air design sounds hard on the upkeep tbh
i think youd like that one
especially if peeps are lazy
its 110 bucks, two nvme ssd slots, supports the 5800xt out of the box
Not bad not bad
thats the same one i have rn
lol
Just need a motherboard that supports anything that’s about it
thats the one
Sweet
did u choose ur ram yet?
when i built my first computer?
i bought a b450 which didnt support the 5000 series without a bios update
i got lucky with my cousin who had a 3600
recommend 2x 16 gb at 3600mhz
id say 3200
I’ll talk about this later gtg
alright, later
later
Hi
🤔 what did I miss in here?
some pc chat ig
and that was not supposed to ping, smh
no worries on the ping. I'm alright with being pinged as I have notifications off anyway. I'll only see it if I'm on Discord or it shows up on my phone's Discord app
Fusion was curious what motherboard he should get for his 5800xt
narrowed it down to a b550, sent one for a gigabyte board
nice, though just out of curiosity, was there any mention of why they picked a 5800XT considering AM4 is at a dead end and has no upgrade path? I would opt for an AM5 series CPU and motherboard at this point, if the budget allows for it
its only 150 dollars usd
i have no idea why except when i was on pcpartpicker the 5800xt is that much
Wukong is a tough game but it’s very fun
Yeah it’s not easy 😄
But visually it’s stunning
The opening is incredible
it’s on game pass anyway
What’s a good Gpu to start off with
Definitely not paying $800 something for a gpu when I start off building my own pc
Well what is the budget for the entire build
Uhh probably $200-300
As in 200-300 for everything in total?
No no like gpu price
What about the entire build
typically the fastest you can afford
Everything is important in the PC, so it’s important to choose parts that synergise
suggestions for a power supply?
Should I get one that would work for anything
Like one that has enough watts to power anything I throw at it
you dont really pick a power supply based on its advertised wattage
well. you shouldnt.
are you in the US?
Yes
what cpu are you running it with
if this fits in your case i see no reason to choose anything else
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bGJp99/corsair-rm750x-shift-750-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-side-interface-atx-power-supply-cp-9020251-na
if you arent already id just use https://pcpartpicker.com/
That’s expensive for a power supply..
It’s 90 on Newegg
Can get one much cheaper
yeah. i saw.
im not about to suggest someone purchase a bad unit when the RMX shift is right there though
No but there are some decent budget power supplies too. Everything really counts in budget builds
Do fan size/amount matter when looking for gpu?
using PCPPs site the RMX shift is the only decently priced 650-750 PSU right now. no one in their right mind should be paying 70 dollars for a CL650G or 75 for an A650BN
Wait what’s after CPU Motherboard and Powersupply?
case gpu ram
Oooh right ram
A650BN is a good enough power supply
yeah but did you actually read what i said?
its 75 dollars right now
it makes no sense to buy over the RMX shift
unless its cheaper on amazon or something and PCPP just hasnt updated the price id rather just spend the extra 10 dollars for the shift
True but it doesn’t really make a difference anyway.
of course it does 😛
this is where you put the ram stuff in right?
yes
RMx is fully modular, runs a lot quieter, has a zero RPM toggle and has excellent protections compared to the ABN
are they call ram chips or something?
the noise and modularity of the PSU are just personal preference but theyre definitely nice to have
I use corsair too but the 1000W one
now that I think about it, more than half my PC is corsair
i really recommend just using https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ and just filtering for the cheapest DDR4
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/wNt9TW/teamgroup-t-create-expert-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-ttced432g3200hc16fdc01 is $50 and looks cool enough
or just go for 2x8 instead
much easier to shop on a price comparison site than it is opening several tabs and flicking between them repeatedly comparing prices
tho you do you
I would probably stick with 32 since some new games are starting to recommend that now too
id probably get the two 16gb
and ram isn’t that expensive
nice. do you know which model exactly?
I could get a bunch and have so much ram haha
since the motherboard is up to 128 gb of ram
why would you do that tho
extreme loading speeds
1000W rmx
having more ram doesnt speed things up
if anything it slows it down
To get the fastest speeds for ram you would want DDR5 CL30 but that’s out of the question here
could have 64 as well
theres no reason for 64GB if youre not going to utilise it
thats also true
for a gaming machine i doubt youll utilise it. hard to even fully utilise all of 32GB for gaming
I would only ever recommend 64GB if you were running a 5090 4k ultra settings. Even then you wouldn’t really need it
how does this gpu look?
Yeah I probably ain’t gonna be doing that lol
how much do 5060 Ti 16GB go for 🤔
how much does the 9060 XT 16GB go for?
Honestly just a 100 dollars more than that gpu I posted
PCPP shows this as available on newegg
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BxRnTW/asrock-challenger-oc-radeon-rx-9060-xt-16-gb-video-card-rx9060xt-cl-16go
so all this is a wopping $787
fwiw the CL_ has no relevant indication on the performance of any given kit of RAM
CL30-38 (assuming all at 6000) is gonna perform similarly enough with XMP that its just gonna be irrelevant
though again irrelevant im just picking at nothing
and probably 100 dollars more with a case
so id probably just save up $900 for it
wait, when are you planning on purchasing?
900 is cheaper than $1300
whenever I get money
i dont advise on planning specific components to purchase if youre not actually buying them now or within a week
prices change often and new parts may be available or other parts may change price and be favourable
or what you have picked may just go OOS
cases are usually a nightmare to pick from with so much selection but ideally you want one that allows for good airflow, future proofing (yes, I really said that forbidden word within the PC community 😛 ) and an easy building experience
AKA https://pcpartpicker.com/product/BXtLrH/phanteks-xt-pro-ultra-atx-mid-tower-case-ph-xt523p1-dbk01
yep nothing too fancy
My current case is the 5000T
to add on to this if you want fast ram youre better off just buying a cheap good kit of ram and just ocing
even a sloppy buildzoid setup is gonna be faster than xmp
😛
I’d save up and probably buy everything during a sale
My gpu is the limiting factor when I play anyway since I play in 4k. Overclocking anything other than the 4090 won’t get me any better performance
Once everything is in place upgrades won’t be bad at all
its not like future proofing doesnt exist. its just that most people usually try to use it in the wrong context.
picking a 5080 to be future proof instead of a cheaper alternative isnt correct, as newer, faster GPUs are bound to release and be better than your 5080.
picking a large case because you plan on doing something, or picking a great PSU such as the AX1600i because you plan on putting in high drawing hardware. i would consider this future proofing. youre picking solutions now that will handle your near-future needs.
Picking AM5 is future proofing
Since AM4 has pretty much lost all support for new components
So building this pc id need $877 dollars
yeah, I just like to poke a bit of fun at that word is all 😄 cases and power supplies I feel are two of the only components that could outlast multiple upgrades. Hell, I still use the case I bought back in 2016 today, Corsair Carbide 400C. Even looked at many other cases and never been able to wrap my head around one choice as there is far too much to pick from. I find even reviews rarely help with this
thats todays price though. if youre saving up money to buy it in some point in the future that price will have changed
I’d probably need to wear gloves when building it
why
Doesn’t handling the motherboard with your barehands do something?
yeah, it puts it into the case? i dont know what else it would do
static isnt really a concern with modern hardware but even if you were concerned about it just like... dont wear socks on a carpet
Guess I’ll follow a guide on how to add software and stuff to the pc once it completed
how much were the DDR4 RAM kits coming in at? I'm curious to know if DDR5 is cheaper or more expensive for you
the one sent was $50
ahh, the build I was about to throw together would have likely come in quite a bit higher in cost then 😮 as it was also featuring a recent AM5 CPU too. AM5 will be the better option overall for future upgradability, provided at least AMD don't end up announcing AM6 with Zen 6 lol
total build cost I think will reach around $1000
regardless hes already stated hes not actually buying anything yet and still needs to save up so anything planned now will probably not be ideal by the time hes ready to buy 😛
but even if DDR5 was cheaper itd still cost more due to board costs and a different CPU needed
yeah, DDR5 is still higher in cost so I wouldn't be off to a good start lol
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/sQQVQd I put together this "budget" build earlier. Though it could probably do with some changes that might take it below £1000 - where I see budget being for PC
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Deepcool CC560 V2 ATX Mid Tower
some of these components were part of what someone else had already planned but I worked around it with a newer CPU and GPU
£1000 or less for budget builds, £1000-2000 for mid-upper mid range builds and £2000+ for high end. Special mention to the 5090 and anyone bonkers enough to buy that £4000+ PC the "wtf just burnt my wallet" PC 😄
what the freak is this psu
i imagine that price has changed right
idk
you could go cheaper pretty easily https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Tcmgcx
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Deepcool CC560 V2 ATX Mid Tower
just change the ram and psu
board is also expensive but its am5 so literally just pick whatever
hey look sub 1k

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT, Deepcool CC560 V2 ATX Mid Tower
deepcool
i have their cpu fan and its very nice but its a shame you cant buy them anymore
320 minimum
what is the ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB equal to chat?
My friend says it’s equivalent to a 2080 Ti and Google is saying it’s equivalent to a 5060 Ti
why would you use the 2080 Ti as a baseline in 2025 🤔
its about a 5060 Ti, yeah. though worse featureset.
I’m still going with the Radeon RX 9060 XT yall suggested
equal to a 5060 ti 16 gig, but better in some games, but worse
Is there a way for me to optimize my backgorund tasks besides having on eco mode?
I have 76 background processes is that normal?
76 background processes doesn't seem a whole lot. I'm at 192 and CPU is showing no signs of slowing down. As for optimizing them. I'd leave them be tbh. Windows and the CPUs we use, whether Intel or AMD use scheduling features that should be able to optimize background tasks. Also, by eco mode do you mean Ryzen eco mode or Windows eco mode that activates automatically when game mode from within Windows settings is enabled?
Ok good to know I didnt know if that was a lot. I think windows...when I open task manager, its that efficiency mode. I think it just limits background processes? Thats why I activated it before.
does it show like this in the task manager?
yeah

no real need for that cooler with a 5800XT plus we don't know if you'll change to another CPU while saving up. I would recommend going for AM5 instead of AM4 mainly due to the slot in upgradability that AM5 still currently offers while AM4 is at a dead end. Best AM4 CPU to go for if focused primarily on gaming would be either the 5700X3D or 5800X3D, whatever of the two you can find cheaper
Got another cooler you can suggest?
Thermalright ones should be fine
Arctic released an air cooler around the same time as this AIO cooler, Freezer 36 but there are other options that may be cheaper and also very effective from Thermalright
was it the Peerless Assassin 120 SE?
That one would be absolutely fine
Lot of work
If you were going for a newer intel cpu or higher end AMD cpu I would have definitely suggested an AIO since they run very hot
You know you don’t have to build it yourself if you don’t want to
I must
It’s cheaper
And will give me experience
Well yeah it’s entirely up to you. I didn’t build mine because I’m lazy and paid for convenience
are these slots for TWO gpus??
No, for any PCIE
PCIE?
You most likely will only use the one
Which is usually the top one for the GPU as it has higher bandwidth
Yes
PCIE is the name of the slot (connection) you can plug alot into those GPU is the most common
So in theory I could place 2 on the motherboard if I had enough room?
Not saying I will
you wouldnt use them for 2 GPUs the port use used for alot of things as mentioned GPU is just the most common
Okay
or for whatever you want
Okay got my list of components updated
Motherboard, CPU/Cooler, power supply, Ram, GPU and then Case
Anything I’m missing?
Not too bad just 7 items
