ooh I think I remember that game being mentioned as one of very few that was to support HDR10+ Gaming. Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2 and I think one other title support it and this but limited support for games is also met with limited GPU and monitor support too. I think it is a custom implementation of FSR 3.0 Ghost of Tsushima is using that allows this as FSR 3.1 isn't available yet iirc. Though once it is Horizon Forbidden West and a bunch of other games were said to be getting support for FSR 3.1

Crazy thing is we don't see the PC community up in arms about FSR3 potentially being shelved from a game like Cyberpunk 2077 yet look at that same community when Starfield didn't launch with DLSS. Almost laughable. There just needs to be a generalized super resolution + frame generation feature that works regardless of GPU brand and is very well optimized. I believe I read somewhere that Microsoft is working on something just like this but it has only recently been made available to devs as a preview so may be some time before this is seen on a wider scale. Though I'd be concerned at how many devs will actually utilize it seeing as DirectStorage doesn't appear to have been part of every major PC release since it was available to use. In fact, support for it still seems very low and we're now how many years into it being available for use?

was this with frame generation enabled or just FSR3? Frame Generation will add some latency that can be countered with the use of Radeon Anti-Lag (or similar driver features depending on GPU). Its one of the only things AMD have going against its frame generation implementation right now that in the games that it is supported there is no current equivalent to Nvidia's Reflex though CS2 appears to be testing an in-game version of Anti-Lag 2 so might not be too long before those on AMD can use it

Yeah frame generation, because I'm on 30 series can't use DLSS3 frame gen

FPS was higher but didn't feel any smoother than playing at like 40fps so I had to turn it off

Ended up using 4K ultra at DLSS balanced for 60 - 100fps most of the time

I don't think frame generation will really have the game feel any smoother. In my limited testing it didn't really feel any different just seeing about double the frame rate when compared to having it off and at times there was some strange stuff on screen while moving a character like motion was kind of lagging behind slightly which was very offputting at the time

yes, you can overclock several things on memory, but generally you just do their speed

i will say right now, never touch the timings on your memory unless you know what you're doing or how to rescue a bricked computer

yeah, I'd say changing the DOCP profile is all you really need to do on AM4. Only exception is on AM5 you also want to turn off the integrated AMD graphics - unless you have one of a few F series AM5 CPUs as they don't have integrated graphics

guys is it normal for snipping tool to take a solid 15 seconds to do its thing on windows 11?

there was a recent update which added video capability to snipping tool, but it has made the tool so slow to use, like I press print screen and wait like 10 seconds to be able to screenshot whereas it was almost instant before

I get past this by uninstalling the app from settings, the old snipping tool comes back when I uninstall the new one, but it only saves to clipboard, I cant do any markups or anything to the screenshots

like normally theres a notification that there was a screenshot taken, if you click the notification you can edit the screenshot, the notification doesnt show up on the old one anymore

Not bad, the i7 gives you a bit of room for upgrades. Would recommend 32GB at this point if you want to play the most demanding games but 16 might be ok for now. It really depends on how well the games are optimised on pc, there may be cases where the 3060Ti will do better but not always and will primarily be targeting 1080p with the 8GB VRAM.

The next best thing to that would be to have someone else build it for you but that will cost the most while giving you full reign over component selection. Pre builds on the other hand can often be compromising on quality components

yeah, during the Computex keynote AMD claimed an average 16% IPC uplift but that was only comparing their flagship CPUs (7950X vs 9950X) both of which have 16 cores and 32 threads and I'm really not sure you can just claim that for one processor and it will be the same across the rest of the lineup. I'm gonna be honest, I HATE upscaling. FSR in my experience always looks noticeably worse than running a game at the smaller internal resolution, and more often than not I feel like I have a better experience just running the game at that lower resolution.

For Minecraft, you need a few seperate things:

• Either Optifine or Iris, depending on if you're using Fabric or some other mod loader
• Shader pack files, which are loaded by optifine/fabric
• Resource packs which add things like PBR or custom 3D models that the shader pack/game can use
  All three are separate things that go into separate folders in the installation

got to keep in mind performance profile should be Intel stock and the default Intel CPUs with the latest BIOS applied will load up with (though even that still has some issues with stability*) while the extreme profile I'm guessing would be more in line with how motherboard vendors no limits were originally being applied. Outside of this average round up of the games tested there are some games that really saw a sizeable drop in performance between these two modes

*Intel may have finally found the route cause of the stability issues but users probably won't see the update until some time in July. Wonder if it could mean further regressions in performance as the issue appears to relate to microcode

TIL: GPU audio drivers can end up conflicting with other audio software resulting in a stuttery mess. The supposed simple fix was to disable the Nvidia HD audio driver from device manager and then after that there was less stutter and more consistent FPS. Not sure if this is across AMD, Intel and Nvidia or just limited to Nvidia but I think it might be worth playing around with this and seeing if anyone else finds similar results

when I used to play older Call of Duty games they were crashing at times too. Think at times the game engine or something within the game just doesn't like certain hardware configurations and as a result will give a less than optimal experience. I wouldn't let this put you off PC gaming if it is only isolated to the one game. Your PC should be more than powerful enough to handle any game and generally MW3 being a competitive FPS game it shouldn't be too demanding, unless like me you like to crank just about every graphics setting to the max and make full use of your hardware then you might run into some issues in other games but I sure wouldn't think MW3 would be one of those even in a situation like that

most likely a bug with the game. Though please tell me when you said you went through YouTube for settings you didn't alter anything within the registry or use programs like CCleaner. Most of that stuff is a load of rubbish and most should be warning you off touching registry as things can go very wrong. Another tweak some may suggest would be to use high performance or ultimate performance modes when in fact it isn't really recommended these days and would just be wasting power as it will have your CPU etc run at 100% speed all of the time. Balanced is the way to go as it will only have the CPU etc use the power it needs

Even though I have very powerful hardware there are times where instead of setting absolutely everything to max I could perhaps lower some settings down a notch or two and gain some more performance out of them. Though that would only be on settings where the visual gain going from say medium to high is so little to none vs the performance cost

Looking at getting my first PC in eons. Not necessarily looking for a hardcore gaming PC but what can be had for around 500$ give or take a bit? Im not in the us so prices will differ. Debating on building or a per built setup due to availability and pricing.

If you already have a TV or a monitor I've heard decent things about those mini box pca they sell on Amazon. You won't be playing elden ring on max settings but people say it's good enough for casuals.

Laptop will be crap mostly. 500 will get you about 3/4ths a pc. The box to put it in alone will run you about 50-70 just for a mid one.

I recommend you go on pc part picker, do some casual research on what you want and what isn't a piece of crap and then drop a link to your list here. It'll definitely help anyone looking to give advice

You can save a lot of money going for integrated graphics instead of a discrete card as well

Hey so I'm tryna connect my Xbox one controller to my PC via Bluetooth but I think the Bluetooth is broken on it. I've used a different controller and it works fine, but the one im trying to connect right now doesn't have drift like the other. It works with USB strangely

it seems to be a growing problem, even with some of the fixes Intel have pushed they haven't fixed the cause of the problem(s)

more fixes expected some time this month via yet more BIOS updates iirc so see if those help or if there will be yet more bad news for those on affected Intel CPUs in the days and weeks that follow these BIOS updates

I thought it was related to mobos having bad default voltage settings but it kind of puts me off going with Intel for now.

A lot of forums seem to be having reports of 13/14th gen specific errors with voltage changes via software being a workaround rather than a fix

I’m on 10th gen Intel which has been rock solid. Probably won’t upgrade for a while still but will just see what’s available then
