I don't think that motherboard will. A320 goes way back to Zen/Zen+ and motherboards then aren't as good as they are now. Features like BIOS flashback were premium (likely only seen on the most expensive X370 motherboards and perhaps very few, select B350 boards too)

as long as you keep the cost of M.2 storage to no more than £100 per TB it is possible to find 1TB M.2 for the same price (or cheaper) and again on A320 there is a limitation where you'd be restricted to gen 3 M.2 NVMe SSDs

used to be a thing people would maybe use a smaller SATA SSD as boot/OS drive with maybe a few of their most played games installed then had a larger HDD to store the rest of the games and other files. Games these days would take too long to load up on a HDD so only the SSD would be worth it these days or moving up to M.2 NVMe SSD

Yes, I know. I only have a 550W PSU and I'd have to upgrade to a 650W to use it. I'm spent out so that won't be happening. The 6600/6650XT is fine for a 500W PSU.

Careful with the new driver if you are on AMD. Reported issues breaking windows on upgrading. Clean install is safer atm.

isn't the first time the factory reset option when installing new drivers has had this issue (or similar) and for that reason I don't use it. I'd rather clean install, which tbh should be the way to go anyway. Process would be something like this.
Download latest new driver - turn off internet access - uninstall old driver (while making sure factory reset isn't ticked) - restart - install new driver - restart - turn on internet access and reconfigure settings as you had in previous driver.
Takes no more than a couple of minutes

only things I can imagine that would make a horrible noise in a PC would be fans gone bad or hard drive (if you use one) gone bad. GPUs can have what is referred to as coil whine, which can be noisy but it supposedly all depends on the GPU and power supply used

Could be the bearing on the fan has broken, mine seem to last about 5-7 years before I need to replace them. You can just test them one by one with the case fans

😱 I've had my case fans since 2017. Corsair ML120 and 140 blue LED. Plan to replace them soon though. At least case/CPU cooler fans are inexpensive to replace and pretty straight forward too

could be, looks like one of the stock AMD coolers? I'd go for something like the Arctic Freezer 34 esports/esports duo. It is much larger, so heads up there might want to check CPU cooler dimension limits for your case but that could drop the temperature by some 20c vs the stock cooler. My current CPU (5600X) while gaming doesn't pass 70c

Quick question for yall, why don't the screencaptures (last 30 seconds of gameplay recoded) save to my pc? When the gamebar is open, it shows "There was a problem getting your captures"

I plan to get Arctic's F120 fans. Really cheap, no thrills but if they are anything like the P120 fans on their Freezer 34 Esports/Esports duo CPU cooler then I'll be very happy. Seems the F120/140 is built for use as case fans. Blowing air into or out of the case while the P120/140 are static pressure, better equipped to deal with heatsinks

I'm having an issue though..... my RTX GPU won't boot with the PC. I can't enter bios. If I put in my old RX 580 it boots, I installed Windows and it's fine. But I put in the 5600X into this system and really wanted to use the RTX GPU. 😦

We checked everything was seated right, it was. Checked the GPU. In the end we swapped them over to see if it booted and it did.

You think because the HDD's were fresh with no Windows on, could that stop it booting?

I'm on the latest BIOS.

I even tried a jumper to reset the BIOS in case it was that but nope! 😦

5700XT had many known hardware issues in addition to driver problems. Used to get constant crashing with it during the first year of drivers.

A lot of users had issues with the 5700XT crashing. On recent drivers they still have problems. There were quite a few articles about it at the time as it was more of a hot topic then. RDNA2 was a much more stable release though.

no worries. these instructions are from AMD and I believe they used a Gigabyte motherboard in the example. Instructions should be much the same across other motherboard manufacturers

if you can't find the setting then your motherboard may have a search function that should find it

like at first i thought it only showed me active on my xbox profile when i play games on the xbox launcher, but apparently some steam games do too, but not all of them. i had a friend see me playing pizza tower on my xbox profile and that game isnt even available on microsoft platforms, only on steam

There are quite a lot of factors to it, if you want 1080p, 1440p, 4K etc and the hardware you currently have in terms of pushing higher resolutions. Some people want high refresh rates, while others would rather focus on higher res for the money etc.

yeah, those will be expensive but OLED is within reach on the monitor market where at one point it used to set one back in excess of £3000 and be limited to 60Hz. If I didn't impulse buy the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 (4K 240Hz miniLED) I have right now I probably would have bought that LG 1440p 240Hz OLED display and similar to the old saying when you go 120+Hz there's no going back I believe that once you go OLED there's no going back. Not sure I'd buy an ultrawide display though as game support can be sketchy, at times. Older games likely won't play nice with the ultrawide aspect ratio and resolution but most newer games should be supported

Pretty sure VSR and GPU scaling aren’t a good idea together. Also VSR will increase the resolution, there is also RSR (driver level version of FSR 1.0 effectively) AMD recommend to use in game FSR options (where supported)

Re4 remake on pc on my 5600 non x 32 gig ram at 3600mhz and rx 6800xt with latest amd drivers can do 4k with rt and everything max at around high 60s to low 70s fps without fsr. With fsr set to performance/quality/balance get around mid 90s fps

at this time? no idea but unlike Nvidia I don't think AMD will leave out a huge portion of their market and limit it to only their latest GPUs (RX 7000 series). Could see it supporting at least RX 5000 series and newer. Which would be big considering DLSS 3.0 is limited to RTX 40 series

the funniest thing is with it also being open source I could see AMD allowing it to be used on Nvidia's forgotten DLSS 3.0 cards, maybe RTX 20 series and newer. Once again showing why proprietary tech isn't always ideal. All it does is make it so that company can lock features behind shiny new products and charge a premium for it. I will never be a fan of stuff like that and where possible I'd rather opt for the next best, "open" option

I’ve tried the motherboard with no GPU and I’ve tried just the G 2060 GPU and that didn’t work either I’ve tried it with both of them and I put and I took the 2060 out and also put a brand new graphics card in there and it still didn’t work so I don’t know but the motherboard provides power to the CPU and that works plus the fan spin up and light up meaning they’re both getting power and they’re being told to spin up so the CPU is fine I think the ram is fine but I don’t think that would affect anything and I’m pretty sure the storage is OK too so I don’t know

Yeah this is true, I find that even software causes issues, the amount of times I’ve had to clean install windows to get rid of stutters or crashes is many times too much 😅

That’s why for the moment I’ve switched back to Console with OLED 120Hz at 4K because it’s still a solid experience almost like PC 165/200/240Hz.

However I think 2-3 more generations until we now start pushing crazy Hz like 360/480/500Hz coming out will pull me back.

So far I plan on doing a full rebuild around 2026 because I go for big leaps on all components & then upgrade the GPU every year until I hit a CPU bottleneck which is usually within 4-6 years.

So I imagine it will be a i9-16900K & potentially a RTX 6090 or maybe PTX will be out by then.

Same. I use to game on pc a lot too, first time I played Kingdom Come Deliverance. But, I got tired of having to keep up with my pc having weird problems. Especially with my mother board. It kept closing me out of games, seeming very laggy. After it finally died, I just decided to stick with my series X. I ain't against pc gaming at all, especially since you can have insane specs to have experiences with in games. I rather plug and play than having to swap out parts after a few years.

Yeah I always go back & forth. I love PC gaming when I build an extreme spec PC and can run anything maxed out and get 200-400-600+ fps.
But just being able to turn on a console & “it just works” is also so nice 😄

with how expensive components are becoming I definitely feel I may have to take a step back myself or go as high spec as I can on certain components (like the CPU) and try get the most out of it until as you said CPU bottlenecks begin to creep in. Once I build this new system I am working on I may even start with that as I've gone as high end as AMD will allow me to without jumping into stuff that isn't consumer/gamer oriented (and I'm almost certain those components will give me no further benefit over what I will soon have). Not once did I think I could say I own a 7950X3D and a 7900 XTX tier hardware

Question: why are pc game pass downloads so ludicrously slow?

even going by the same thinking as I did when I upgraded to a 5600X over 2 years ago I had hoped to see out its warranty length (3 years) before considering another upgrade. Safe to say I have failed on that by some 9 months 😅 but now I feel I could go way beyond that same 3 year warranty with the 7950X3D. Only thing that could possibly push me to upgrade sooner would be another 3D V-Cache moment where AMD introduce something game changing but 3D V-Cache is a thing now so idk what else AMD have up their sleeves that could possibly top something like the 7950X3D. Though I'm sure they will find something

Yeah that’s true, and for me I’m only interested in a very limited about of games that I really want to max out anyway, so the money being spent just doesn’t always be worth it. Rather if I wait 5-7 years, build a monster PC I can play the best/updates/patched version of all previous games & current games for next 1-4 years.

Before any bottleneck creeps in or hardware begins to struggle.

For me the display is just as important too & this is usually a significant investment but also slow moving in advancements.

It takes ages loading up the shaders when you first start. Even with a 13900K and a 4090 it took about 20 minutes to finish on mine.

Then it had some stuttering issues and crashed, but after I reloaded it was fine.

Some people are saying it's maxing out their CPU though

Looking at the store page now though it has only 5 reviews showing for me, 3 of which are negative, so not really a big sample size to claim as mostly negative.

So, having an issue with Steam. Don't think it's a router issue. Downloads go fast, disconnect and start again. I have 1gbps and it doing this, took me 2 hours downloading Gotham Knights. I've tried disabling IP6, changing DNS to Google/CloudFare. I can't think of anything else. I set the "download" location to UK - Manchester and UK - London. Still the same. If I try a download with a VPN on to test, it's slow but never disconnects. I also tried turning off power saving for my ethernet adaptor. Am I missing something? Is steam always bad with downloads?

Googling shows people having issues from 2013 and backwards. It's like the issue never got fixed.

Been playing some more of it this morning and so far it's running smooth as butter, no hiccups, no crashes.

FPS is running around a fairly steady 100. Occasional dip to 99, occasional rise to 105 or so. Using around 28GB of RAM

nice. on my 6800xt and 5600 non 32 gig ram ran game at 4k fsr 2 performance which push image quality to 1080p and presets set to medium get around 90-110 fps in last of us part 1. very cpu bound. cpu utilization is about high 70 percent to mid 80 percent

Curious why it is CPU bound. As it’s a linear game not sure what would be so much of a stress on the CPU. Maybe if they are not using direct storage this is causing an extra overhead there.

Iron Galaxy seem hit or miss looking at their port list. Uncharted wasn’t too bad and some other stuff like Spyro and Crash but Arkham Knight was one of the worst ever until it got fixed. Nixxes ideally has the strongest portfolio but I suppose they can’t handle all the PC ports Sony wants to push out within the timeframe they have

They don’t seem to even have it listed on their website anymore probably because it was notoriously bad. Arkham City also had a lot of problems on launch but was then later fixed to work very well but a lot seem to forget about that one.

It actually is very good now on modern hardware. Based on HW at the time though you needed at least 4GB VRAM to have a decent experience which isn't really an issue now

I would say if you have at least 2600K + GTX970 and 8/16GB memory should be significant improvement over the consoles with all the patches.

It does take quite a long time to install the files sometimes. I guess with these big games with large textures and such I could see it taking over 30 mins. My internet is nowhere near as fast as yours so hard for me to tell how long it should take you to download and install files.

Yeah well, 30 minutes is fine. But because it's stopping and starting, it'll take over 2 hours.

Been having a freakout of a time. PC on fresh install wouldn’t show wifi adapter or allow me to connect to router. Managed to fix that eventually but beware if going AM5 or I think 13th gen. When a game is verifying though, the disk usage is around 50% and goes up to 400MB/s or so. So idk what's causing it.

tried the first game on my new CPU, Hogwarts Legacy and it runs great (as expected). My only concern is how loud the CPU cooler gets during the shader caching process of Hogwarts Legacy and I know there is a tweak out there for it but I really think the devs should add an official fix soon as most games that use this shader cache thing only tend to have it run once and never again (unless user changes hardware or installs new drivers anyway)

that would be annoying. Was bad enough the number of failed attempts I had in getting a 6800 XT before finally getting one (way overpriced). Is there no other 4090 you can buy that'll fit your case as an alternative? Perhaps even look at getting a new case that will fit more of the 4090 cards so you don't have to pick and choose, if you have the space for that anyway

It's the only one that'll fit the case without hassle and it would just match the look I'm going for. I could take out the bottom 180mm fan to add a lil more room but I was trying too keep it to maintain the airflow for the case.

working pretty good. Boot times are pretty slow due to memory training but other than that rock solid so far it seems

btw, are there any MSI Ventus 3X 4090 where you are? That is smaller than the FE and about the only other one that'll fit without a tight squeeze there are a few others but they are 329mm which I'd say is too close for comfort, would be right up against the front case fan(s)

just looking at the space available on the Torrent and it is crazy! I nearly bought one of those cases and my 7900 XTX reference design is only 287mm! I'd have had way too much space to play with (which isn't a bad thing for the future but it would have made the GPU look small 😄

first time I've seen an M.2 be secured with something other than a phillips screw head and even then I had a small learning curve to climb for installing my M.2 SSD as it was toolless (Asus have an EZ-Latch feature or something like that)

my monitor is 165hz but it cant be overclocked at all. a 144hz monitor will usually go up to around 165

i imagine a 144hz monitor will only support freesync/gsync up to 144hz though, so there is some benefit in a monitor that officially supports 165

@smoky flame Question because I know you're an AMD user. Do you have high idle usage on your GPU? Mine is around 33W. I changed to 60Hz from within Windows 10 settings and that made it go to 9W or so but after dual setting up 2 monitors, it's always 33W now.

Tldr is if you have a card under 12GB then textures will be looking significantly worse than PS5, plus with the drawbacks of much slower load times. Seems at the moment it’s really only a step up from PS5 through higher resolution settings and framerate if you have a 7900XTX or 4090 with a high end CPU, even then the shadows seemed bugged on PC compared to PS5 at ultra setting.

It’s really awful, actually worse than PS5 in many sections they showed in terms of graphics and shadows as well. If you have 8GB Vram card like a 3070 don’t even bother.

That’s a known issue on the driver side of AMD GPUs. Nothing the user can do but wait on AMD to try and fix it. My 7900 XTX a few drivers ago used to use something like 88w idle but I think that has since improved with each driver release since
