With a seconds dps in 2s i always go protector. Sometimes i drop guardian or the crit buff for thorns (i usually play with a ret so i drop crit buff talent. Probably not worth with a second caster as dps). Against warriors and windwalkers mostly.
With guardian getting nerfed in 9.1 i can see myself dropping that for thorns.
