Honor gear will get you up to 285 ilvl in pvp, and you can farm honor pretty quickly in solo shuffle (solo queue arena). Solo shuffle also scales your ilvl (if you have shadowlands gear) up to 278 I believe so you should be fine to hang in the games.

Even folks who have bis from last season are getting kinda cranked by max ilvl folks

Shuffle is upscaled so you’ll have the most pleasant time there I think

Just depends on what you expect to play at, ofc if you're a 2.2-2.4k player and you expect to play at that mmr but undergeared you'll get cooked, but not if you're just starting or spamming games in mordor.
