Speedster Rogue!
Focused on insane mobility (even moving on surfaces mayhaps), flyby attacks, and maybe even a double-sneak attack feature one per long rest?
You will quite literally have so much movement and reaction time
If I'm not too tired I'll make her lightcone as an item
Ooh ping me when you do
I’ll start working on that after I finish the Castorice (Circle of Equilibrium) and DHPT (Ancient Aegis Conclave) subs
Uh pick how many stages? I have 4-6 stages for my lightcones
Mydei is the only 6 but he's special...
Stages?
My "relics" are what I make wonderous items like the dragon items where there's stages to the item, slowly awakening
The lightcones are all items you must awaken in a similar way
Dormant Awakened Exalted, ah there we go. Silken spite is one such item. Had to go find names
My pleasure
That's the hsr subclass correct?
Yup, you can guess who it is
Definitely castorice.
indeed
You love to see it.
the problem I have now with Speedster Rogue is that it just feels like the Scout Rogue :(
i wanted to give the sub advantage on initiative, boosted speed, and an extra attack as BA, but Scout Rogue already gives those
No we gotta do Thief Rogue... Oh wait
What about a magic Trickster... Crap

Mfw when a brewer didnt know that WOTC did the idea first
I mean I guess I'll just do another one for the time being
which one do you guys want me to do?
(like, choose a character)
Aglaea would be neato.
i did make a Garmentmaker Artificer a while ago actually
Huh, didn't know that, maybe mydei then?
you can check it here
Looks neato.
it will probably be something along the lines of "Path of the Unyielding", which will revolve around tanking hits and taking damage (and not dying), while also having aspects of unarmed combat
Makes sense.
here it is @daring fox
what do you think I should do with a Shifter (better name needed) class?
It sounds like it shifts XD
Are you going martial w/ innate shifting, caster w/ spell-shifting, or hybrid
martial
they have a number of uses for their shift ability, and they can learn a number of "beast aspects" to shift into
they also gain the ability to shift with multiple aspects at once at higher levels
and also a natural weapon
and things related to tracking and connecting with nature and animals
(and probably also Timeless Body)
I am working on some plot details for a "one shot" (but not really, it's the nature of the campaign) for my level 5 characters. The idea of the campaign is that the group of players are travelling across universes in order to investigate why they start to disappear. This is mainly a way for me to explore different archetypes and subjects, and for them to play different characters in the same world.
I had an idea for the next session, but I wanted to know your opinion as to how to develop it.
"I am finally going to confess to them!" The two high-school students said, each to their own group of friends. The fireworks festival is only a day away, and both have planned to ask their crush to go to the festival with them. The party's goal is simple: make sure the two lovers don't touch, as when they do, great calamity will ensure.
The session's entire point is to be a joke on romance anime, and I wanted to make it feel and act like a typical cliche romance anime episode. How should I approach certain parts of the session (and should I even split it into two sessions)? Do you think it is too "cringe" or out there to be a fun little session?
That's actually a really interesting hook for a oneshot imo "Don't let these two touch"
Making it so the two are lovebirds instead of some form of hostage escort is pretty interesting
life update: I just got a new microphone!
Yipee
yeah
my old headphones finally gave in, so i bought new ones, and thought about getting an upgrade
so now i have both new headphones and a new mic
Okay time to write down some details I am planning for a new "Shifter" class (name TBD):
- **Beast Shift (1st-2nd level):**As a bonus action, you can take on the partial form of an animal, gaining some of its traits. You have a number of Beast Aspects that you can choose from, each giving you a separate buff.
- Chimeric Form: When you use Beast Shift, you can take on another Beast Aspect you know.
- Feral Weapon (1st level): Your hands grow natural weapons you are proficient in, which deal slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning (your choice).
- Nature's Fury (6th level): Your natural weapon attacks count as magical.
- Extra Attack (5th level): Basic Extra Attack.
- The Hunt (2nd-3rd level): If you dealt damage to a creature this past day, you have advantage on Survival and Perception checks related to tracking it down and looking for it.
- Speaker of Animals (? level): You are constantly under the effects of Speak with Animals.
- Beast Shape (3rd/5th/9th level): When using Beast Shift, You can instead transform into a beast of a CR equal to or less than a fourth of your Shifter level (rounded down).
The subclasses will revolve around your "evolution branch", the kind of creatures you are connected to:
- Aberrant Branch: You are connected to abberations and otherworldly beings. You will gain abilities related to the mind.
- Behemoth Branch: You are connected to gigantic creatures. You will gain abilities related to raw strength and size.
- Draconic Branch: You are connected to dragons. You will gain abilities related to draconic might and breath.
- Rooted Branch: You are connected to plantlife itself. You will gain abilities related to the ground and plants.
- Amorphous Branch: You are connected to oozes and slimes. You will have abilities related to sticking and changing shapes.
Any more things you think I should include?
For now I think this is decent, could always try for something underwater or undead flavoured.
Elaboration on this:
My party will be assigned a “trope” each, fitting for their characters:
- Aasimar Paladin: the “male protagonist’s best friend”. He is very gullible in general, so dropping him in the middle of the story would be fun.
- Aasimar Bard: the “ice queen”. Her character is cold and calculated, which totally fits the archetype of the scary unapproachable person.
- Human Artificer: the “hothead”. Her character is very spunky and spontaneous. I feel like also making her one of the female protagonist’s friends would be fun.
- Damphir Witch: the “scary guy”. There’s always that one creepy, recluse guy, right? The one who speaks to himself and acts all strangely.
At the start of the section, I will tell each of them one by one what they are seeing.
The core idea is that they are in this sort of high school/academy, and they must stop two people from getting together in 1.5 days, or else the world will be destroyed
They will have free rein to explore the academy, and would be able to do almost whatever they want/need in order to make it work.
Increasingly evil creatures bent on destruction keep foiling their plans and keep trying to get the two together. They use no violence on the couple of course, only romantic tactics. They will use violence on the party however
Exactly!
The background behind the story is that there is an “author” that creates universes in order to observe them and create stories from their history. They are one of the causes of the dying universes.
Their author will not let anyone intervene with the plot. That’s why the characters already exist within the story (with given archetypes and stuff): they wrote them in. And they will not let them stop the plot. They will use the other characters in the world to stop them
Though do you think having it themed around romance would be too “cringy” and off-putting?
I could make it platonic, but yeah
I love a good romance
Half my players are single, and all of them are not straight, so I’m scared about it
I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that at all, however I am not sure how much they would be immersed in the story
Unless they hate straight people or the singles hate romantic people I feel like a good romance is fine.
That or you have no confidence in making a couple feel romantic lol
Which I get, I suck at writing that too
Im a bit confident, but not enough XD
I might just end up making it platonic instead
Literally every single story best happens the same way, but without the romance
Platonic feels weird to me, like a platonic get together lol
Best buds hang out isn't a will they won't they tension
The girl has been acting distant towards the guy, and he tries to rekindle the friendship
Like romance makes most people feel like they are doing something bad separating two lovers. Platonic feels like "cool we separated them"
That’s the thing, I am afraid it would fall flat if I base it on romance, especially with this party.
Making it platonic could both fix the issue of it being too much for them, and also introduce some other conflicts
Well its your call. I personally am more interested in romance but also im a straight guy with mostly straight guy/girl friends and my players are mostly straight guys/girls
Im the wrong person to ask lol
Still glad you answered! Thanks a bunch for that
Make bread 👍
already did this morning
Oh I just figured something out!
If I ever wanna make an "HSR Supplement" (not really), I could make it so that each of the paths is a feat!
okay i Just had an awesome idea!
So, remember my Trader class?
I had an idea for another sub: a "robe of useful items / wild merchant" sub!
based all around taking random items from your "store" and using them.
Who’s who are here, what are your thoughts about a new “prestige options” system?
The system will function similarly to prestige classes, where if a character makes some specific actions determined by the GM, they could unlock special chain of features to expand their character and make it more thematic.
For example, let’s say your wizard wants to become a lich. Discuss with the player about how to become one, what actions they need to make, and how will that affect them. Once you do, they will be able to unlock that chain of features after performing the actions.
Honestly i think prestige classes and similar have their place.
While it is interesting, and a cool concept, it might be tough because of the need for rebalancing of fights further
Okay, what are some "mundane" items I could use for a "wild magic" Trader that takes out random items from their stock during a short rest (or during combat at later levels)?
I might make another pool of items that you can take that are better like potions or healing or other stuff
Hi, I am near the opposite demographic (still a guy) and I say go romance
I came to bother you about this actually
i ran the session for them tomorrow, they had a blast
I want to make a lightcone for Acheron and then a few 'simple' items for the paths generics
how did it go?
I haven't started yet, I came to poke you
need any aid for that?
Yes, mostly for the individual paths but I'm also wondering the most 'important' traits of Acheron for her thing
I mix the characters personality kit and actual lightcone for effects
I am most proud of Aventurine's even if the wording is sus
I mighttt take inspiration from her cosmic card?
cosmic card?
you mean the cosmicon event thingy?
what did you do for Aven?
Yea
It gives you a new attack yes
Something I kinda wanna do is make spells based on some of my old dnd characters, both wizards and not wizards
Some ideas for class mechanics I don’t know where to use :
- Rulemaker: Through both magical control and charming prowess, you bend the laws of the world to set down a rule. Creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you must succeed on a Charisma saving throw, or be bound by the rule.
- Rules are basically things like “the creature can only make a single attack on its turn”, or “the creature has disadvantage on saving throws to maintain concentration”.
- Regalia: You gain access to legendary relics, imbued with the spark of your legendary power. Only you can use these items. Each item grants you a spell you can use one per long rest, a passive ability, and an “ignition” ability you activate to unleash the weapon’s true power.
I mean Regalia will probably go to my Exemplar (when I remake it), but Rulemaker is one I have no ideas for
Making the Regalia
The Regalia is an integral part of who the Exemplar is and its identity as a class. It is a set of legendary relics, which the player can get ahold of and unleash the true power of.
Narrative
A Regalia should be an item or mark that can have any kind of special history to it. It is up to the players to flavor what it is and how it truly functions. A “mark” Regalia could be a birthmark passed down for generations, while a “weapon” Regalia could have been a cursed tool created by a mage, or a weapon wielded by a hero long ago.
The relationship between the different Regalia and the character is what drives the core of the class forward. How do the characters use their Regalia? Do they abide by their existing history and importance, or do they oppose it?
Mechanical
Each Regalia has the following features:
- Regalia Spell: A spell that you can cast one per long rest without expanding a spell slot. This is later upgraded with a better spell at 11th level.
- Core Ability: A mostly passive ability that you gain for wielding the Regalia.
- Ignition Ability: Through your own force of will, you reignite the spark of potential within the Regalia, and enhance its power. Each Regalia can have its ignition done once per long rest.
Fate Servant the class
Also Alicization Kirito
I hope your legendary swords shoot beams of light (or darkness, in Kirito's case)
So I will preface this with I didn't sleep, so much as lay in bed for 10 hours.
But I read this as fellatio servant the class, which rather changes the vibe and I was a touch confused for... a minute.
(I'm not entirely sure if I read servant... or it was just the ant)
(Thanks for coming to my ted talk)
Additionally the spell + ignition part is super Alicization lol, spell is basically Enhance Armament (usually new way to use the weapon related to its past) and Ignition is Release Recollection (ultimate attack with the memories of the weapon)
hmmmm, so a 'player made' 'item' that is their's alone with special stuff they can do, hmmmmmmmmm
i dont mind the idea
gods i jog my memory much lol (havent watched Alicization, which was a year or so, maybe 2, ago)
Kirito is like the unintentional best example of the class
He fells a legendary tree and has it made into a weapon. He is able to use a special "spell" with it that allows him to shoot tendrils of dark energy (negative energy flood?), or its full power which allows it to absorb "sacred power" (basically mana) so could be a antimagic field
so, some examples i could give for this are, for special items that have a big effect with other stuff you could do
Executor's Cursed Sword from Elden Ring Nightrein
any of the Alicization weapons with their stuff (like snow said)
Persona summoning stuff (mainly the masks from P5 and guns from P3)
uhhhhhh
thats about it lol
The Fate Servants are also good examples cause like, Excalibur is coated in Invisible Air, which can be an air slashing spell of sorts, then unleash its full Noble Phantasm to fire a huge beam of light
Fate is confusing lol
(like, i get most of the stuff, barely, but it still doesnt help its time line/watch order/whatever is very all over the place)
Its not that complex, its basically Gundam
If Gundam is too complex still... Fair enough
was about to say lol
Anyway its not about the story but about the weapons and their abilities, many Fate weapons have minor powers, passive effects, and their ultimate Noble Phantasm
i havent seen any mecha anime (isnt that i dont like them, i just think they are all kinda the same from what ive seen)
and Gundam looks like it has 15 shows, 20 movies and 49 specials (you get what i mean right?, alot of stuff to watch)
Lancer's Gae Bolg can be used to deliver an instant kill thrust, or thrown to convert into a huge area rain of spears
I would say to lean into the weapon angle but tbf the Hashashin use their modified bodies as a noble phantasm so... Sure Mark works
i think Mark is something like a tattoo or birth mark that holds power (which kinda leans into sorc's whole 'being born into magic' thing they have)
Yeah, but you could be "marked" later on
true, still kinda digs into sorc me thinks tho
(i wouldnt mind it being purely weapon based, each sub or however this is being made is a different weapon that do different jobs)
I do agree, which is why I said I prefer the weapon angle
weapon or object
that way you can get stuff like masks and armour into it aswell
(having a armour that was 'cursed' being handed down over generations does sound like something this class would eat up wouldnt it?)
I would even consider that the Hashashin's Zabaniya is a weapon in that they incorporated a weapon onto their bodies (Cursed Arm's cursed arm, Serenity's poisoned blood, an unknown one's slicing hair)
the people yearn for hair based combat (every anime has somebody that does it)
Dam you're telling me this class is also good to replicate the Disaster Armor from Accel World
idk what that is :P
(sorry me isnt well versed in somethings)
In Accel World there's a cursed armor called the Disaster Armor. Extending from SAO's Incarnation System, the first user of the armor cursed the armor with incarnation so that it will never be destroyed, so whenever its user is defeated (as in the user's remaining Accel World uses is depleted and their memories erased) the armor immediately transfers to one of them who defeated the user.
Then the user is tempted to use the armor in great need for its great power, and then it consumes the user and the cycle continues.
oh so Accel World is just another anime like SAO but different
is it the same universe or just the same ideas spread across universes?
Current SAO arc also has a character who suspiciously shares a surname with a character in Accel World
Initially completely separate but since SAO worked towards Incarnation and Accel World uses Incarnation early on its possible that Reki is planning to connect them at the end
im still annoyed that SAO stopped airing on a cliffhanger
(at least i think it did? idk if it kept going and the thing i was watching it on just didnt have it lol)
Did you end with Alicization Part 1 ||Kirito going into a coma after Eugeo dies?|| or Aliciziation Part 2 ||when Asuna stays in the Underworld after they sent Alice out of it?||
both lol
i meant the one were ||the virtual Kirito talks to one of the FBI/whatever they were called people about building/dismanting something||
Ahhh OK yeah its a teaser for the next arc
thought so
but sadly that prob wont get animated (cause surely its done in the light novel, right?)
No the light novel isn't done
bloody hell
Next volume just came out in Japanese
Its the final arc iirc
But there's still a lot left to clean up
And its like, two arcs at the same time lmao
hasnt it been like, 10 years or something? a long ass time
8 years hahaha
this some one piece type pacing (joke)
He has like 6 series ongoing but really only SAO gets consistent releases, we've been stuck on vol 5 for Isolator for 7 years now
holy, just pick one and stick to it /half joke
I honestly cannot refute that lmao
Tell that to Brandon Sanderson
Anyway oops, we've been on a SAO rant in Feder's post
true lol
What’s Alicization?
But yeah, you can consider Fate as a semi-inspiration here
Sword Art Online's penultimate arc is called Alicization, where Kirito is trapped in the Underworld virtual world with NPCs composed of real souls.
Specifically for the weapons, they retain memories of before they were made into weapons, and gain properties based on it. Then they also have a way to release those memories as special powers partially (Enhance Armament) or fully (Release Recollection)
(also technically Alicization is two arcs, the initial Alicization arc and the War of the Underworld arc)
In that case. Yeah I can see that
(Haven’t read or seen SAO XD)
What other features do you think the class should have?
That heavily depends on what you want them to be
Both Fate and Alicization's weapons deal with the past, I think it fits if it gains history or memory related ribbons
Depending on how you flavor it of course
If something like a non magical sorcerer, I could see something like 2024 sorc's Innate Sorcery working well, but for melee attacks made by these special weapons (snow is going to have my head for recommending a boring number feature)
The class grants them abilities related to the past, while the subs having the theme of “Future legacy” could be nice
It’s a half pactcaster
Still
It’s closest to Paladin in vibe
Make the melee worth it, instead of giving it basic features that can be used anywhere or for anything make, make it activate or triggered by melee combat
(Or ranged but thats alot more boring
They have the capacity to do both using their different Regalia
For example, Earthbreaker and Tunderstab are melee, but Starshot is ranged
I need to find a “combat move” that would make going in a good idea
Some feature ideas:
- Exalted Deeds: Through your connection to your Regalia, you channel your spirit into moments of heroism. When you make an ability check or saving throw, you can a reaction to add your Charisma modifier to the roll (minimum of +1). (half PB uses per long rest).
- **Hero's Magic:**Half pact-casting
- Fighting Style: Just a fighting style
- Extra Attack: Extra attack
- Paragon: Capstone, grants you +1 to attacks for each weapon regalia, +1 to ac for each armor or shield regalia, and +1 to saving throws for every mark or accesory regalia.
I want to give them some more interesting things
struggling with thinking about what else to give them? They have some "empty levels" that I want to change
The ideas of Taunting and Protection
There are a lot of martial classes in the game, but none of them actually utilize the ideas of taunting and protection.
Taunting
Taunting is the practice of trying to goad a creature towards attacking you specifically, distracting it from your opponents. This can be done by performing a flashy action or attempting to manipulate the creature.
Mechanically, I imagine taunting as a sort of status effect. That effect causes them to have disadvantage on all attack roll against creatures other than you, until they succeed on making an attack against you. I could see classes like Fighter or Barbarian getting this ability, or utilizing that status effect.
Protection
Protection is a big umbrella term for "keeping you allies safe", It can be done in many ways, both magical and non-magical, but here I am looking at non-magical ways specifically. Protection can be standing in the line of fire, reaching out to guard an ally, or swiftly wisking them away when danger comes at them.
Mechanically, this can have a variety of ways to be implemented, but I imagine they will all add a sort of static bonus to the protected creature's AC or Saving Throws.
Implementation
Imagine a "Warden" or "Guardian" class, which is based around being a tanky warrior that is capable of guarding allies and taunting enemies, making it the center of attention.
Or maybe just a fighter subclass revolving around dueling with a specific enemy, taunting them towards you specifically.
Well half casters get less features on account of spells, so when they gain 2nd level, 3rd level ect ect os when I dead level is warranted
As for others, any soical type or exploration feature always work if you cannot think of combat stuffs
I do need to add some RP stuff into Vigilante now I think about it.....
Yeah I’m thinking about maybe letting other people muse their Regalia or something could be cool, but that’s a subclass thing probably
very random idea: a class feature based around "dice combos"
as a BA, you roll a number of d6s equal to your PB. if you roll a certain combo (a double, triple, straight, etc), you gain special benefits or something
the question is what would be the class's theme?
Luck? Fate is a thing in dnd so a class that harnesses it makes sense to me
People will always seek to change circumvent or otherwise rewrite destiny. A task only performable by the Divine, with the sole exception of the [Title] of course
not sure if it's enough for an entire class
maybe if I ever make that one class I had that messes with fundamental powers (like time, space, law, fate, etc), I could make it a sub
but I have no idea how that class would even function outside of it
Maybe this is my sign to take a crack
I already have a class where each sub is a fundamental
wdym?
my vision is this:
- Int-based halfcaster
- a "studius warrior" of fundamental forces
- I have absolutely no idea what its core ability could be, but it might be the equivelant of Paladins for intelligence (not sure yet).
- subs will be: Time, Space, Fate, Order, Motion
i have absolutely no idea what I wanna do with it XD
maybe if I ever make that one class I had that messes with fundamental powers (like time, space, law, fate, etc), I could make it a sub
I'm saying I have a class where each subclass is a fundamental power
I really want to see what you do with space order and motion
Which one is it?
For space it would probably revolve around wormholes
Motion will be about sacrificing your own motion in order to inflict it and vice versa
Order will let you enforce specific “rules” that enemies must abide by
My Not-Paladin, Martyr, the subs are literally the Chthonic greek gods
Ooh interesting
But I first need to figure out how it will actually work in terms of abilities and such
yes
i am hoping to make them "utilize the raw power of the arcane in combination with their armaments"
Blaster half caster with I guess the other half being based on these primordial forces hmmm
Do they end up martial as that other half or Other™
they will probably lean closer into a hybrid martial/caster
also I started a convo about it in #overflow
Cool idea, but idk if it would be good as a class
Like, they would be static effects, which are kinda weird for a class (like, this class would be good in one thing and one thing only, if that makes sense)
It makes more sense as a subclass
Like a gambler rogue
Really if the first thing you think of is mechanics rather than theme its highly likely better as a subclass
Such a common theme nearly every brewer has made one
That and or a poison based rogue
Me: poisoned based blood hunter
What do you think of the class idea? (The int thingy)
@hearty vapor @tough sleet
Thematically very shaky imo
Agreed. I need to think it through some more. It just came to me in the shower and so I wrote a barebones idea.
How do you think I could iterate on it?
@tough sleet too XD (wish I could reply to multiple messages at once)
I'm really more thematics first mechanics second, if I think of a good mechanic I tend to shelve it until a theme pops up and I revisit the mechanic and see if it fits.
I kinda like the idea of “a balanced warrior-mage that uses raw magical energy to supplement their martial power, that also manipulates general fundamental forces uses this energy”
They would have something akin to “weapon metamagic”, that you can get by spending spell slots to gain a resource
And maybe tying their armory to their magical signature to gain better affinity with it
Seems very vague and shaky as mentioned
It'll be better if you can draw examples from mythology and pop culture
Hmmmm true… I’ll need to think about it.
Any other direction I could take it in?
If I had a good suggestion I would've given it already lol
I see XD
i, cannot answer, as well, it is mainly up to you for how a class is designed :P
I kinda imagine that, while wizards study magic as spells, these guys study arcane energy as almost a science, breaking it down and using its fundamental elements
as a half caster? fat chance lol (like realistically, kinda makes no sense for them being half casters)
And the theme is still not quite hitting imo, its good enough and I like how I made it very setting dependent but its sorta carried by that in terms of theme
Yeah it sounds more like a full caster
Plus wizards are the geeks already, they study magic and arcane stuff and break it down
Ooh that does kinda makes sense
This class has everything but a theme :(
and artificers break it down and build it back up
well, break it down lesser then wizards
well, it helps to have one of those before making the class lol
Very real and true XD
Artificers study it in relation to physical application, enhancing things. Arti is more like a IT guy while the wizards are the computer science algorithms and stuff
my arcane half caster i abandoned, was just guy with sword and magic :P
(not Executor, an early one)
Voyager was basically my attempt, its guy who studies planar tactics. So he's like copying myrmidons or demons in the same way they mix magic and might
Mine would have been similar, but focused on applying raw magical energy to their body and weaponry, and using the fundamental forces to their advantage
The problem is, I can’t think of any character that is a combination of warrior and mage, that controls forces like “time” or “space” or “law”
I mean I can only think of one, Queen from TBHX
I don't think fundamental forces is a strong enough theme, for one its very science and not too fantasy, and second its a very bookish study thing thats overlapping with wizard.
For mine thats why there's a bit of focus on planar tactics is because if a character was copying how many extraplanar monsters fight its typically not pure magic or martial power but a combination
Hmmmm makes sense. I am not sure how much it actually overlaps with wizards, because I have my perception of wizards “they are talented spell casters. They study spells, and arcane energy in order to cast spells”
Then I went for a more anthropology bend to make it less bookish, more "I gotta go out and actually study people" to set it more apart
Well, guess I’ll chuck this idea into the “ideas I had that really wanted to make but I don’t have a lot of ideas for yet” pile
It currently holds:
- Invoker (this class)
- Herald (planar Wis-based Gish)
- General (martial support/commander)
General/Commander is a strong one and many have done Warlord in that vein already. I think thats probably possibly the one with the most bones
Herald sounds like my Voyager haha
Yeah that’s why I don’t think I’ll make it.
(That and the fact I don’t have too many ideas for it as of rn)
Yeah it’s also the one I had the most ideas for. A combination of an inspiring banner with an aura, letting you choose your main mental stat, and the group stratagems would have been cool
But I first need to finish Exemplar (which I will rename to Scion cause it fits better with its theming of “igniting historic relics and using them to shape your future”
well, mine looks like
Vigilante (support ranged weapon user, WIP)
Executor (Pact Magic gish, unfinshed)
Wordsmith (Martial with inbuilt weapon + invocation style upgrades, semi finshed?)
Soul Invoker (summoner, unfinshed)
Channeler (arcane gish, unfinshed)
Shardbearer (Elemental martial, finshed but old)
That wasn’t my full list XD
- Investigator (int support martial + planner) - Done
- Trader (cha face + skill expert + halfcaster) - Done
- Medium (Wis fullcaster + support + spell points) - Done
- Scion (cha half-pactcaster + relics + martial) - WIP
- Kineticist (cha martial + elemental) - WIP
- Invoker (int halfcaster + fundamental forces) - Concept
- Herald (Wis halfcaster + planar energy) - Concept
- General (support martial) - Concept
- Morphling (pseudo wild shifter) - Concept
- Artist (cha halfcaster + color support) - Concept
im just talking about ones ive finshed and for those whos base class are done but not the gimmicks/spell lists
ive had ideas for other classes, loose ideas
Oh XD
yeah
most of the gimmicks on the finshed ones where stuff like invocations
or BM type moves
The only class of mine that had something like that was the Kineticist’s elemental disciplines
But those are more “generic moves you make with you elemental power”
Like building a wall of stone, or using a flaming jet to propel yourself forward
Though they were more akin to spells you can always cast if you have enough energy to do so
How much playtest has been done with the kineticist? I'm working on letting people choose from some homebrew classes in addition to the base ones, and I was wondering if I could run it in my campaign
i think most of Feder's classes need playtesting, although me could be wrong
i would love some playtest for it!
I am actually lost in regards to abilities for the Scion
I don't want to give them Exalted Deeds at 1st level, cause that would make them into an insane drop-in (the ability to add your PB to a roll as a reaction is very powerful)
but also Exalted Deed kinda fits 1st level
- Fated Connection: You are always connected to all of your relics. You can always sense where they are and if a creature is holding them, provided they are in the same plane as you. Additionally, as a bonus action, you can attempt to teleport any number of relics you are connected to, and equip them. If a relic is currently held by another creature, that creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC, or be forced to drop the item, letting it teleport to you.
- Defy Expectations: Your future is in your own hands. When you make a ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you can choose to roll it with advantage. If you have disadvanage on the roll, you roll it without disadvantage instead. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once). You regain all uses of this ability when you finish a long rest.
Is there a reason you want no advantage canceling out in Defy expectations
Because it’s only for yourself (unless you want to remove advantage)
Its intrinsic. If you have disadvantage and you get advantage, you roll normally
It already does that though
I mean, even without the sentence, that would still happen, so what's the point of the sentence
To make sure it’s understood
In case someone doesn’t know that rule
Huh. Ok
It would be kinda funny imo if advantage and disadvantage made you roll 3 and pick the middle
That would be cool actually instead of a flat roll
Oh god XD
This might be a funny effect for the modrons to have lol
So yeah, I’ll remove Exalted Deed for now, replace it with a ribbon about history about your relics, add Fated Connection at like 6th level, and Defy Expectations at 14th
Also, I am. Currently on my way to a hotel room, since I am going to a weekend-long festival, so I won’t be active a lot
back hom from my vacation!
Okay I had a fun idea for the int mage-blade thingy: Make them into martials with cantrips!
Instead of giving them spellcasting, make them be "lesser" casters, who cannot really manifest magic into spells, but can use basic cantrips and amplify their physical capabilities through magic.
so warlock
warlocks at least have leveled spells, and are not fully specking into being martials
this class will have a selection of cantrips (might even have some new "blade" cantrips), and let you use them in place of attacks. You cannot alter the effects of these cantrips through your "arcane ki" points (which you can do to weapon attacks, kinda like weapon metamagic)
Finally, arcane martial
yeah! do you think that would work?
Still needs the right theme haha
yeah that's true... i need to find characters that fit the image I had in mind
what are common "magical martials" across fiction?
Depends on what you mean by Magical Martials, but maybe Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail?
when I say a "magical martial", I mean a person who is not the best at either, but knows how to use magic to enhance their own might.
the subclasses I had for this class revolve around the forces you can control on yourself and others through that magic, like time and space
What about Frog or Crono from Chrono Trigger?
How so?
