if you're far from the router look into powerline as long as your house isn't REALLY old it'll work basically just as well as a lan cable you get two plugs plug one close to the router and an ethernet cable into that from the router and then one close to your pc and an ethernet from that to the pc and it uses your electrical wiring as an "ethernet cable" to give you a good connection
