@glass coral I can adapt to no jump with dash, even though it was very helpful. In this clip you can see how dogwater hopping is after jumping, dashing into a slide then hop still feels nice.

That would be my main gripe along with being forced into first person, I absolutely hate being forced into first person, in fact that was one of the things I said would make me quit the game. My most prized and favorite weapon is the Open Sea Proton and being forced into first person ruined the gun for me.

Yeah I'm looking into it, not sure it's an easy fix but I'll see what can be done. Ideally the dash would be shorter as an ability, but still cover the same ground, so you'd be freed up to jump sooner, but I'm still digging around in the ability to see what I can do with it before I send it to the coders

Here's the thing, the Jetpack Dash puts you in the air, being able to perform a regular jump while you're in the air is not possible under ANY other circumstance, hence it's a bug that you could do that. The side-effect of the bug was then being able to aim and shoot at 12 meters-per-second of movement speed in any direction, which is just frankly nuts and impossible to balance. It also caused other issues on a technical level, so it had to be fixed.

We have plans to add more mobility mechanics in the future that might allow for this sort of thing, but it needs to be implemented properly and not just as a side-effect to creative spamming of buttons

My big takeaway from the interview is that decisions are being made by looking at data and not by using the biggest resource that otg has which is its community.

Here's the thing, if all limbs are reduced in effectiveness but also their cooldowns are reduced, several things happen:

1. 2x Limbs of the same type are no longer cheesy instagib fests
2. Limbs are more readily available when you need them, which is especially important for limbs with multiple tactical uses
3. Some actual skill needs to be used to get a kill

We had 1-shot limbs all over the place a year ago, and all people did was call for nerfs.

Make all the jokes you want, I'm not trying to be a dick here, but there's rules to game design that require consistency for players to understand them. If you break those rules, you get innundated with comments like "I don't get why this works" or "This guy was cheating because he did X and Y".

Back when we had the Leaper meta where you could shoot from the air while right in the middle of a Leaper jump we got absolutely spammed by videos of people accusing others of hacking because they were seeing people shooting at them when their gun wasn't pointing towards them. It was a simple animation issue, where the logic said "Yes" but the animation said "Nah" and it confused even high level players.

A thing that doesn't make sense visually is enough to make everyone lose their minds.

True, but bunnyhopping has been around for decades so that one is kind of a special case because people understand already that if you jump your head is in a different place and therefore harder to hit. Tutorials usually tackle the more unique aspects and general flow of a game rather than teaching every tiny detail and then you let players figure out additional things from that. I know in this case that would imply that Jetpack Dash Jumping was always intended, but it was honestly an oversight and should have been fixed immediately. The main intent of the Jetpack Dash was that you either stand your ground and fight or you dodge and sacrifice a second of being able to shoot, so when people found a way to do both it turned Jetpack Dash Jumping into the default way to use the ability, which was never intended.

That being said, I do want to add more in the way of mobility if we can squeeze it in in a way that makes sense, and those sort of jumps might be something that, oh let's say the Leapers, might benefit from with a rework...

I’ve played 2 matches and I’ve never felt this close to uninstalling the game, and that’s saying something considering I have 1200 hours and finished top 1 in Loaded Loadout both seasons. Same old story: big patch, patch that breaks the game. Mobility was perfect in the previous patch—honestly the best part of the game—and all they needed to do was reduce how fast the dash recharged.
I tried playing a ranked match and there was a hacker with the Krestel landing headshots on everyone. Who was the ape that thought that was a good idea? You can’t remove the sights from the weapons.… It reminds me of that patch where weapon recoil was actually fine and they decided to ruin the game by giving every gun infinite spread. And I guess they’ll do what they always do: double down and never revert things back to how they were when they actually worked well.

In this case it's more along the lines of if I try to jump while sliding then in some manner of way I'm still pushing off the floor with my legs regardless of the position, and if I'm sliding while shooting I'm posing myself in a way where I can still try to do it (with less accuracy). With the Jetpack Dash jumping, imagine you jump and then try to jump again. Your legs dont touch the ground, yet somehow you're expecting to double-jump? If this were Super Mario I'd be like "yeah of course, let people do it", but we're trying to stay figuratively (and literally) grounded with individual mechanics so that things are easier to understand.

Who knows, maybe someday we'll have a double-jump mechanic baked into the core mechanics of the character using the Jetpack for the second jump, in which case cases like this can be re-evaluated. I'd never rule it out personally.
