://OFFBYONE the code card
is used on a Pack

SINCE WHEN DID THAT EXIST
*this issue specifically comes up when one of Betmma's Abilities are chosen first
the ability should go to the ability area but goes to consumables instead, happens all the time they work fine in consumable area anyway however
the game thinks the ability is in the placement it is when the pack is created
difficult to visualise, but you can reproduce it:
- use :/OFFBYONE
- select a betmma ability from the Pack
- try to sell it, you can't press the sell button, but if you go to where the sell button was before you picked up the ability, you can sell it by clicking there
- dragging the ability around makes funky stuff happen

the cine card moves down to the cine slot
and doesn't give two shits if there's a cine card there or not
i think that's just Blessing's fault

but it looks like it goes to the consumable slot first and then moves down
i don't know how blessing could be moving it when the port came out like 3 hours ago?
because consumables created by Blessing don't consider cine card slot
so does that mean the cine card moves itself from consumables to cine slot without checking it?
also the moving is most likely on Reverie's side which seems normal
i guess it wouldn't be an issue for most methods of obtaining them
since they'd check the cine slots
Blessing checks for consumable slots not Cine slots, so it can generate Cine cards at full slot
Reverie then moves the Cine cards to the correct place
which is correct behavior

it means the game crashed
well the SMODS Reverie part is the mod that caused the crash
and when it says :274 that means it's on line 274
data/boosters.lua is the lua file in which the crash happened
from what i can tell from the error message, it attempted to call a field named booster, but it's the wrong type of field, which caused a crash
that's how you read a debug log at least, so you know which mod causes it and where, but to actually fix the problem is a whole different beast
best option for most is to post the crash log and explain what happened when you were doing it
what button did you press right before the crash, for example
it happens on startup after i added the newly updated version of reverie. there's a modlist of every other mod i have

you can fix it yourself and make a pull request on github if you're a lua wizard, that is the biggest benefit of open source coding
but in most cases the crashes are ironed out by the mod dev after they're reported
so now you just wait

This is likely an issue with Codex Arcanum (it created SMODS.Booster API which will interfere with the built in SMODS.Booster API).

then reverie sends it to the cine slot

Hey so I dunno if you're taking suggestions, but I think it'd be cool if there was a Cine for Code cards for even more Cryptid compat; something like using 8 code cards for a Cine that makes everything in the shop Glitched Code cards that temporarily don't take up consumable slots

Between Reverie and a few other mods that add new types of consumables, the thing that always causes crashes for me is the undiscovered consumable image. Once they were discovered, I could view them all without crashing.

using it is fine, but for some odd reason opening a pack in this state just crashes the game with the error shown in my photo

Nested is when the folder is two layers deep but that error also pops up when installing the steamodded 0.9.8 version with steamodded 1.0.0 version. Make sure you grab the latest from the code and not releases

If you're getting the nested crash, first make sure the file path to the .lua is:
Balatro/mods/Reverie/reverie.lua
If it is the right way, and you're still getting the error... go into the .lua of the mod with Notepad and delete line 62 which has that check.
Make sure your using the latest code and not the release too

I've been having a pretty consistent issue were regardless of other mods (had it happen with my own collection of mods as well as Dimserene's pack), the moment a Cine card "flips", the game crashes and then I'm better off selling it to prevent the crash. I'll snag a screenshot the next time it happens to see if it'll shed any light

Hey, so I get this crash whenever I activate the Reverie Exchange Coupon after immolating some cards, anybody now what causes this?
Anyone know how to fix the nesting error at line 62 with Reverie? Or should I just wait for an update?
Whenever I skp a blind to get a Tag for a Reverie Pack, instead of it opening the pack, the game just kinda "freezes", meaning that I still have the tags but they never don't open and I can't interact with anything on the sceen with the only option beeing to start a new run
From where did you download your mod version? From the Git Hub releases, the Website or the Github source code?

make sure you delete the old mod files first before copying the new ones over
i've deleted the whole steammodded loader and Lovely thing (mods in general), reinstalling everything up and still crashes with this error ;_;
make sure you're not accidentally using files from an old download
that error doesn't happen if you install the new version correctly

So i tried it again today, and it went all good, i reinstalled the whole game and download the mod from Swapy's link, went well. 🙂

A final bug i noticed that I'll look onto tomorrow is that certain tags obtained from the special card sleeves tag don't trigger until the end of the next blind

I've had this issue too, I downloaded the mod today to try it out, but every time I skip a blind for a Reverie related tag, it freezes my game on the blind select screen, can't click or select anything. However, I can still use the pause menu and back out

Yeah I found that apparently the functions for those packs are somehow assigned incorrectly
trying to add this mod, but getting an error when I launch the game with it. doesn't say much but i'm not too familiar with lua anyways so wouldn't know what it means even if it did

this fixes the tags and a very weird interaction between double tag and mega stamp tag... this last one has been tested quite a bit but I'm not balatro modder so I'm not 100% confident that it's full proof
TLDR; the tag fix is needed just because of a breaking steamodded change that’s for any mod with tags
Make sure that whoever makes the fork also changes all the context flags from tag to self

Getting this same error when trying to install, I've tried both the newest steamodded and the old calc ver and 1.2.6 of Reverie and the newest(?) 1.3.0, all versions give the same error. Anyone found a solution for this or is there a version of one of them that I'm missing?

YES okay so I know the bug now @feral folio
A local variable in Bunco is brought outside its context due to the goto statement
usually the ::continue:: just goes straight to the end so it doesnt crash anything
however, if Reverie does its patch after the ::continue:: statement by patching before Grim, the local variable will be used somehow(?) and cause the crash
this can be reproduced on windows by setting the priority of Reverie's patch to -1
and it usually doesnt do anything on windows because Reverie goes after Grim for some reason
I still think this is the easiest fix
I'll try firch's attempt fix when I am able to
I'm also working on removing that patch and moving its function to non-lovely methods
which should also fix the issue
and in-general I want to deal with fragile patches, since they've been the cause of the past two SMOD-related bugs

I think the download link from the website is an old version which auto crashed for me as well (If you got it from the website). The github link Jimbocarrot posted above worked for me so try that.

it takes several minutes for a hand to finish scoring
i have 6 copies of Oops, 7 copies of Lucky Cat, and 8 copies of Constellation
also 5 copies of Baseball Card
it takes like a solid 3 minutes to finish scoring one hand. is there a mod that speeds this up
Is something in Reverie causing it to slow down? Outside of just granting you a tonne of negative jokers
just, uh, a lot of calculations it seems
7 copies of lucky cat with 6 retriggers on 5 lucky cards with guaranteed payouts and 1.5x mult to a perkeo run level

nopeus from jen's collection give increased game speeds and fast forward
you can stop a bunch of lag by simply going to the main menu and going back into the run but the lag will come back quickly
there was an in-dev memory alteration mod that said it might tank or boost performance somewhere
and yeah talisman has disable scoring animations
which also has a calculation screen showing you progress
found a bug/oversight, it seems having a negative cine card grants you an additional consumable slot instead of an additional cine slot

Yeah the Reverie fork doesn't work with old-calc, but the latest Jen's Almanac only works with old-cal it seems
so I don't think the two mods will be compatible

I'm not sure how aware you've been of mod development recently, but Steammodded is fairly unstable at the moment and is prone to changes that may break bits of code. I've had to deal with it multiple times in the fork so far.
So I may end up submitting more issues/PRs if breaking issues come up

it's probably because i'm playing a horrible concoction of mods, but i skipped a blind for a cine tag and now the game is just straight-up stuck (not softlocked because i can still use the esc menu to go back to the title screen, but i can't do anything on the blind screen)

Update on the horrid modpack saga, opened a film pack and it straight-up crashed.
Happened again with only Pokermon and MTJ. Current theory is that it doesn't play nice with either:
a. Additional suits (Clovers)
b. Additional items from a Cine Pack (Good Rod voucher)
part 3: pretty sure it's the former
part 4: either i've completely fucked up or there's a conflict so fundamental that having another mod in the mods folder, disabled breaks shit.
part 5: when i download it from the releases tab, it crashes on startup. when i download it from the front page, it crashes when i open a film pack. only guess is that this is an oldcalc mod i'm trying to force into newcalc
Well it appears you're using an old version of Reverie, so that might be part of it
try using the fork in pins

i get this whenever i open a film pack or try to look at any cine card / Reverie spectral in the collection. i am using several other mods so it could be something with one of them
I'm guessing the crash happens whenever it tries to draw any cine card, some wonkiness with the shaders
@charred galleon It's hard to test without the other mods, but I've pushed a very quick hotfix that should fix this crash, but might cause others
I'm gonna go through your mods to see what the root problem actually is

for Reverie, it looks like its in main.lua under the set_screen_positions() function, let me check
yeah it's that:
the y value is actually 3 in the mod, I set it to 4 to test and forgot to change it back for the screenshot lol
but yeah you can experiment with those values, making the y value bigger moves it down and increasing x moves it to the right

it happens with every cine card, this did not happen before, im pretty sure it has to be a mod I installed or updated recently
figured out the mod, it seems to be a mod called Tesseract, its a wip mod so it makes sense

I tested it myself and I couldn't reproduce the issue with Tesseract. Might be because steammodded got updated, or maybe a more complex issue with multiple mods, not sure

Cant reproduce with just Reverie and Ortalab (and my other handful of mods), so its a 3+ mod issue
The error is specifically orbital tag however which I know is wonky in general

oh, @tardy garnet this issue has already been fixed by Ortalab on Github, you just gotta download from the main branch rather than released

bug that is still present in the fixed version: opening any pack after using the "Cine" cine cardcrashes the game
that seems to be an old version of Reverie. Use the fork in the pinned messages instead

Oh, @golden hull are you using the original Codex Arcanum? If so then you should use a fork since the original is really outdated and prone to crashes
Also on an unrelated note, the latest SMOD has overhauled the draw functionality in the game which has caused a couple non-severe bugs that I'm looking into fixing
on the plus side it may mean I can unscuff the cine use animation
when i reroll it crashes i assume its a version problem

the issue is its spawning in a shop after boss blind
the line G.GAME.orbital_choices and G.GAME.orbital_choices[G.GAME.round_resets.ante][self.ability.blind_type] in the game code therefore errors because it assumes G.GAME.orbital_choices[G.GAME.round_resets.ante] is not nil
Reverie previously just fixed it by having a special case for orbital tags. I'm trying to make it work with potentially modded tags (e.g. Ortalab's Constellation) and am breaking stuff in the process lol
