depends on how you installed it via steam, but by default it would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Balatro I believe
go into the 'mods' tab that will be on the main menu, disable every installed mod, than exit the menu, which will automaticly restart the game

I downloaded crypid git, with that steammodded. and the latest git of lovely .dll theres 3 files in my mods folder (cryptid, steammodded, talisman)
version.dll is in the game directory
well there's your issue, you don't actually have lovely installed
you still need the lovely folder in the mods folder
lovely is there it just has logs tho
well clearly your Steamodded folder is not set up the right way
you have a toml file from the 0.9.8 release
send a screenshot of the mods folder
you should be good if you delete the steamodded folder and replace it with the one from the download

Got it working. Just deleted the steammodded from the cryptid download and replaced it with the steammodded-main from download

I only have Cryptid (and Talisman) installed, and everything seems to be working well, except whenever I enter the "Blinds" section of the Collection, or start a run, my game crashes. kinda crazy of me to be offering advice when i'm here to ask for some, but have you made sure to drop the version.dll file into the game files? not in appdata in the mod folder, in program files/steam/steamapps/common/balatro

okay this is very weird now... tried updating lovely, and now when i try to run the game it opens and crashes almost immediately, and version.dll gets deleted from the game directory
running it again obviously just opens the game sans mods

For the record, about 30 minutes ago, i did a fresh install and did install the steamodded_PS_injector.exe file to get mods up and running up...then i downloaded the 3 files need to get crytipd up and running, but it seemed that i needed the "version.dll" file put in the game files (like you suggested) then i ran the game and got the error message that was fixed by verifying the game files. once i did that, the mod worked.
this seems to be part of the issue. temporarily disabling AV lets the game run and gets me to a brand new error message 😅
going to set up an exception for the balatro folder and then investigate further 🙃

well idk, i did and get to work regardless, maybe that was causing the issue then idk, i know you have to use the alpha installer to get this mod to work but i just figured that would just be overwritten when running this mod

Hey so, naturally, I wanted to try the cryptid mod after a certain Roffle Lite showcased it, right? Im having a major issue though. Its getting flagged as a virus! Im accustomed to this with injectors but this one is flagging Lovely as "HackTool:Win32/Agent!MTB" and I cant find anything about it. Im wondering if this is a weird flag, etc. No other downloads are flagging this way.

the game crashes when starting a run on gold stake, and only on gold stake
this was a real finger-on-the-buzzer moment, i had to tab over to the console window and screenshot it before the process self-terminated
but, again, gonna make sure the version of bunco i grabbed is the right one, you could honestly convince me i'm running the wrong version of goddamn windows rn

i did, removing them didn't fix the issue, but i have a hunch
i had an entirely separate mod pack (mika's) installed before this whole endeavor and i was in the middle of a run on a custom deck
didn't quit out of that run before removing that mod and i think it fucked something up
so i'm gonna do a full reinstall of everything and see where that gets me

windows built in anti virus will block it but if you already have the file it should be fine

its just that maybe when other modders write their lovely patches they might need to also include cryptid in the environtment as well as steamodded
I think ultimately it’ll end up as cryptid being used pretty much independently, it’s not sustainable for every other mod to consider it when they are being created

Just wondering for cryptid mod, I downloaded the latest release and put it into the correct place but whenever I run the game it brings up two windows and says "lovely injector has crashed"

there's like a total of 2 reasons why lovely can crash
one is that it's outdated, the other is that you installed steamodded wrong
and i guess the third is that you're testing an unstable dev build
Any invalid lovely patch will cause lovlet to crash, but we haven't gotten a new update that adds something that causes the old version to crash recently to cause valid lovely patches to crash. I even went and fixed that error message to be more readable but no-one really sees it yet.

if you're already using lovely, you just need to replace your old steamodded files with the extracted files from the download
if you used the injector previously, you need to verify game files, install lovely, and put steamodded in your mods folder

i have the new version of steammods added to the mods file.
when i opened balatro again after this , drag/drop d11 into game files , and replace with 1.0.0, game hard crashes

if i delete d.11 from the games file reg, it launches no issue with still only talisman in the mod list

you should be good from things as you have them set up here after verifying game files
it just gets you a clean executable, it doesn't mess with the other files in the game dir including lovely's version.dll

turns out they were both nested which caused the problem
