Also other thing that I think is pretty important is how the overall color harmony works, when I started editing cards I noticed that most of them follow a "color palette" and following it could help a lot to make it feel more natural/vanilla like

That's mostly why this even just being a recolor of a card still feels off, doesn't follow the pallette and most likely when I import the texture file into the game it will feel off

Well here's the thing! They are really different people! That book is using the wrong image! Chicot was a Frenchman who lived in the mid-to-late 1500s and Stańczyk was Polish and lived in the late 1400s to early 1500s. But I suppose at least that book cover explains why there would be a confusion.

if you are unsure about proportions, on a just started art with notihgn but blank. Draw a poor sketch, that has nothing to do wiht the actual size, then draw the smallest detail you want it to incoude, and then resize the sketch so it is to scale with the smallest detail, and then use the sketch as a base for the actual work

I recomend getting Aseprite if you realy wanna do pixelart on proffesional level, if you cant but it, PixiEditor is free on steam and is pretty good too.

I recomend you use a gradient tool for the body of the joker

also, look at your elbows, even if they bend at exactly 90, the bicep is thicker than the forearm, and stiff long sleeve hand bellow the wrist

this kind of gradient has uses, mostly in stylised art, like doing cell-shading (think, Toon Link), but in this case you should either go for full on gradient, or no gradient and juist darker edges

Just seen this, I really like this idea! I will toy around with it. It would be extremely hard to implement stealing bosses powers, that feels like an entire mod in of itself within one Joker, the code would be longer than all my Jokers combined lol Would be sick af tho. A lot of cool stuff here! If it were possible I would implement it differently than adding passives as rewards for defeating bosses. I would make the the Mega Man Deck come equipped with an eternal Mega Man Joker that can copy only one Mega Man Weapon Joker placed directly to the right. Then I would make the bosses reward an eternal Negative Weapon Joker with abilities kind of like how you have wonderfully laid out. Specific to each boss. Then you could use only one at a time, but you can change them out at anytime, kind of like the actual Mega Man game. Just place the weapon to the right of the Mega Man Joker and it's active.

YES, Even just using Red/Blue lets you go through a huge amount of cards, so good for survivability. But I like that the Author made it so you can also combine the same deck with itself. So for Red deck you could get +2 discards but for stuff like Anaglyph/Ghost/Checkered/etc those decks get entirely new abilities when you combine it with itself.

That's definitely doable, but man even this is pretty dang ambitious, bc now you need to create a random poll that dynamically changes each time you gain a new ability after you defeat a boss. Else you'd have a chance to get the same ability multiple times in a row. Maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal if you did get the same ones 🤔

Also you have to deal with displaying multiple scoring messages once you got chips/mult/xmult going off all on a single card simultaneously which is a pain. But doable.

Amazing idea, idk if i have the skill to do this though. Honestly I haven't been modding for too long and this is my first rodeo 🤠 (only game I've ever modded) there are much more talented coders here than me, but idk i might mess around with it.

Some suggestions to make it easier to fathom for the development perspective:

• Use a randomize concept similar to the to do list joker that grabs from a series of (poker hands in it's case) and then the requirement (In Todo its a fixed amount), it could even show what the reward is this ante like "Upon boss defeat, gain (x) power on this joker's"
• Just use the same principles of the editions or any joker that procs more than once, it doesn't have to be simultaneously even if it's possible, making it a thread of actions just like the already see in game will be easier on you than figuring out how to apply it like that

This is no big coding help but just conceptual for the algorithm of how it works lol

I've been hard at work recreating one of the decks for Balatro.

I don't know which deck I'll try to recreate next. I love Venture Bros, but the deck design is so.... different. It's the same with Army of Darkness, but we'll see.
