There were a bunch of oddly-named pages of text (like fragments of the Constitution but named "Vivent" or something like that) and I clicked one that sounded whimsical, and Balatro turned into a My Little Pony collector game. My joker turned into a Fluttershy, and I had a clone card so I cloned Fluttershy, and then I was trying to decide between picking up Twilight Sparkle from the shop, or opening a pack that would let me add accessories to my ponies and eventually I ended up giving one of the Fluttershy ponies a stick.

well, the teacher told us to make our own cover for the folder, and after i got the folder, i started drawing the outlines, and then i was going to paint with markers, but then, after a few seconds, the color was disappearing slowly, and no matter what I did, it kept disappearing, and i realized that the folder i bought wasn't exactly what the teacher requested, and the side i was painting wasn't made for that, so now I'm doing something else on the other side

Every game on steam lets you get some cards for free based on playtime but it's usually no more then like 4.

That dice storm I had was something like a combo of some incrementing stuff + Steady Growth, then Circle of Life to generate blank dices, then a Rain purchase blows up the whole thing when all the blank faces turns into 1s.
Also, midway in that run I found that everything in shop only cost $1 for some reason and I thought the game was bugged. It was actually Add Die Discount being activated so hard all prices are multiplied by like 1e-40 after each roll.

When we play, I'm not really trying to win because it wouldn't be competitive if I did.
I like to play the role of kingmaker, enabling players who are behind and slowing players who are ahead.

With Zedruu, I like to give away "the good stuff," and with Rocco,
I like to distribute +1/+1 counters on my friends' commanders.
I don't use the typical "group hug" cards which benefit everyone (Howling Mine types);
I prefer the effects which reward players for attacking (Jolene and Firemane Commando)

I've played 3 hours of it and am having fun with it. If Balatro didn't exist, I'd still think this is a roguelike that could come out of the mind of a creative team. It's doing the early access model, which might not be best, but for $11, it doesn't feel like a cash grab.

Alright, played it for a bit. I was hoping it would have some kind of bankroll managment but it doesn't look like it.

For anyone who's wondering, the game is like balatro where you have to score X points per round and face a boss at the end of each stage. You get a handful of "tokens" for each round, which are like your cards in a typical deckbuilder. A token can be played either as a bet or as a spin. For example, you could make a token that forces the ball to land in some segment of the wheel or lets you bet 50 chips on either red or black. So it seems the idea is to make a deck of tokens where the spin-aspect of one complements the bet-aspect of all others.

The major players would be Balatro and Dicey Dungeons

The single theme tying together a large portion of the understanding of games is based on european casinos and for north america, french playing cards and casino staples.

I think the psychological associations of this games holds beyond the physical establishment of the casino, but it remains distinct from something like a trading card game.

Card Shark would likely also be in this genre

I know tier lists are created to incite violence but like what actually is going on with crystal ball being a must buy? Legit like it has a small handful of useage case scenarios. And the best reason to grab it—is to unlock omen globe—which is for some reason below it on the list

Crystal Ball lets you do some weeeird math

Basically, the way the game works is that 2 cards can't be at two places at the same time (except for Showman, the Fool's effect and a few exceptions).

What that means is that if you have Judgement in your consumable slot and open a tarot pack, for example, then Judgement cannot appear in that pack, increasing your chances of better tarots appearing

Normally you want both consumable slots reasonably open when going into a tarot pack so if you get Emperor or High Priestess you can get 2. With Crystal Ball you can put in a Judgement or Tower into your consumable slot and never sell it and permanently thin out your tarot cards for the rest of the run without getting in convict with Emperor

Alternatively if you want you can have 3 bad tarots in there and thin the arcana packs by 3 and just sell 2 when you get Emperor

And of course, if you find a Justice you can store it on the 3rd slot for a rainy day and still use Emperors without having to sell the Justice

A tier - Highly above average
B tier - Slightly above average jokers, they're good for what they're worth if you get them at the right time (though now that I think of it, Chicot should be here)
C tier - Mid/average. They're decent to get a good start, but don't survive long term or are very situational
D tier - I don't like the mechanics behind them
