Items in a game should be meaningful — so when you see someone with a wide variety that spans many events and types, you understand that there was time and intention put into it. It isn’t about showing off or being better than others, it’s about things having value.

If you have multiplayer level 15 with someone, it's recommended to do pick up together so you can have the double per day, which is 10 :)

Like I said, I’m just gonna see how far my currency takes me. The only event in which I have ever struggled to get everything I want was Interlude of Dreams, which has already been identified and presumably was part of the reason behind making some changes.

I also notice that Lighttime Jubilee has been lengthened from the first year by about a week, and I did some math and I’m not worried about getting all the stuff I want, but I was grumpy about not getting as much currency because the lizard part of the brain was overriding the logic. Which is all I meant by “it just looks bad” which wasn’t really explained well either because well! I was grumpy! So my bad on that

Gumdrops can only be used to buy items at the G&G event stand 🙂‍↕️ this is why I wish we could get the 2025 furniture with them, too 🥲

As a note for anyone unaware, the Lighttime Jubilee quest will change to say "enjoy the lights" as the task after the lights are all lit. It isn't a task to complete; it really just means that the lights will stay lit until the event ends, so you can enjoy them until they disappear.

I kinda found the gift opening a little boring with every item getting a got item animation.

I think it's a little long for newer players because of the amount of items. It wasn’t too long for 3rd-year Arcade players who were only getting the stockings, but it took about ~4 minutes on a new save when reading what I got.

I do think it could benefit from a collection box-style summary.

the gift opening becomes even longer if you actually have those "gift anyone" presents in your inventory. The game opens them automatically for you, even if you didn't give them to any of your friends.

There's a light event going on right now. I have the shop, that big thing with the sphere. For a short time, I also had fairy lights everywhere, but there was no switch to check if I had collected enough lights. When I turned the game off and on again, all the fairy lights and decorations on the island disappeared. Only the shop with the big sphere remains. Why? I can't play the event like this. I don't know what to do. The date is correct. The event is still running into January, so that can't be the problem...

In the main Switch menu, you can press the plus button with the game selected, and it should show you a page with version info and give you a way to check for updates.
In the game, on the title screen, you can see the version info in the bottom left corner.

The reason I’m recommending you check if your game is up-to-date is because HKIA usually adds new event content when it releases content updates. So far, it’s gotten major updates on Switch about every 3 months.

You should be able to find 5 every day. It should stack up to 15 if you skip days.

You spend the bulbs at the event stand. After every 10 spent you can interact with the Light Displays that are marked on the in-game map/quest to activate them. Once all the displays are active the quest will show "Enjoy the Lights" until the end of the event

The Lighttime Jubilee quest will change to say "enjoy the lights" as the task after the lights are all lit. It isn't a task to complete; it really just means that the lights will stay lit until the event ends, so you can enjoy them until they disappear.

I'm glad it's long enough to gather a decent amount of lightbulbs to spend on the event furniture because this year's new items are GORGEOUS and I also still had to get all the 2024 items and being able to get more than one of each easily is nice. Give and gather otoh lasted forever and i had 130 gumdrops left at the end after already having bought more duplicates of the items than I could ever possibly need..

Also the glowbulbs are nice flowers, so it's nice to have the time to get more colours etc of them

For folks who are into the flowers, it’s super helpful to have a longer event. It’s also handy when it’s an event that has a lot of items you like, or a specific item you want because you have more time to acquire it and get multiples. For example, the Lighttime cubes are versatile because you can dye them and use them to build walls or platforms.
Sometimes events don’t have things you want, like the Give & Gather for me because I’m not super into christmassy stuff, so it felt a little more boring. Not trying to change your mind, just offering a perspective!

I'm confused why the new wearables aren't dyeable, they have the purple background (not the gold/yellow one that usually indicates something can't be recoloured) and poccacho is now wearing a pink/purple version of the goggles and the long coat outfit (and kiki has a recolour of the bowler hat).. the real life northern lights come in multiple colours as well (blue/green/pink etc) I would love to get these outfits in more than one colour 🥺

It’s only recently that they started standardizing dyeables as non-legendary and nondyeables as legendary rarity. I think they just forgot to adjust the rarity of the new Lighttime Jubilee items to match the new standard.

Hi! I’m permanently locked on the Stray Shipments quest and can’t progress.

• Friendship level with Hangyodon is 11
• Objective “Investigate the dock off Gemstone Mountain” never triggers
• Hangyodon is stuck in the water at the Comedy Club
• My Melody and Kuromi are stuck at the docks and marked busy
• Other quests can’t progress because these NPCs won’t move
• I’ve waited multiple real-world weeks, daily resets, full app restarts, untracking/retracking, fast travel, etc.

This looks like a quest-state initialization bug where NPCs are locked but the investigation flag never fired.
Is it possible for a dev/mod to reset or complete the Stray Shipments quest flag on my save?

The kits were added last year starting with Cinnamoroll's bday. Before that it was just the quests and balloons.

Steam/Switch didn't get the kits added until CU1, so their first birthday with the kits was Chococat (I think). So they weren't able to get Cinna, Hangy, Badtz, or Pom's kits last year

If you are high level friendship with someone and have unlocked shared collecting, you can go to their island and you can both collect the bulbs if they haven’t got theirs yet today

As someone who was working in Web Development theres like an honor code of holding yourself to a standard. Its not about doing it on purpose at all but the complete inconsistency and the major fact is there are many events us players are missing out on. Im glad it doesnt bother you to miss out on items and events but many DO!

Overall its a huge setback that had nothing to do with the player. Hence why items should be a must.

My comment was more-so about how in this server compensation has become an expectation rather than a gift or kind gesture by the devs. I get that for some it is a big deal if things don't function correctly or are locked out of certain features, but HKIA isn't there only thing out there.

If you are one of players who are experiencing things then certainly report it, post questions here, but you also can do other things either in real life (go for a walk, read, cook, etc) or play any other game (People post a lot about Animal Crossing). It is the constant complaining or harping on the same old same old that I feel is unhelpful. I appreciate the reply and I am sorry that you are experience undesired events in game, and I hope they get fixed soon.

No, it's not harmful, I tested it. I bought the ||Lunar Cushion set|| and put it in a empty room, I was able to put it down and pick it up. If it was harmful, it would of been put down and not able to be picked up again.

CU5 was submitted well before the early release. By the time it had happened, it was already too late to fix it.

As far as the underlying game logic is concerned, it just knows you already ‘saw’ cut scene number 1, so it won’t run it again.

sorry i meant the cu5 patch - non aa platforms get quarterlyish updates and we had l&l start on the 19th when it wasnt meant to.. the patch we got on the 23rd ended that "event" so it would start again today

but we didnt get the cut scene again and i thought the patch would reset it
