I was really worried my senior dog would not accept my puppy, but my vet had told me it was worth a shot. She's 9, a mix of three giant breed dogs, severely dog reactive, and she's slowing down bad. When I told my vet I was considering getting a puppy as I needed a new work companion, we had this whole long talk about finding a puppy that I could hold onto a few weeks and return if things didn't work out. Because there was a 50/50 chance either my dog would hate her, or she would love her like she was her own.

I couldn't not get Zuzu when I met her. Walked into the adoption place, entered the room with the cats, and she immediately ran to me from across the room, climbed up me, and then became a purring ball of nap. Also hid from the child with her parent that came in after, so that was funny

Yesssssssss. Man I love when that happens. That's actually how I got my rabbit. I was looking for a small girl because I hadn't had one since I was a kid (and I have a lot of unfaced guilt for the fact that my childhood rabbits didn't receive great care. In my mind, getting one and doing it right this time would help me with the guilt?? Idk, lol) but I ended with this huge black boy who just melted into my arms

And I mean.. I don't know if you've interacted with many rabbits, but most of them are not really people oriented

#

It just seemed so unreal. He was just a baby at that point and everything was so loud the lady handling the rabbits was so rough with them and they were all so afraid of me. But he wasn't. He's now 2 with his own big space and absolutely thriving, lol. My first pet (my senior dog was originally my parents dog and wasn't given to me until later) that I had gotten and paid for myself, but he's gotten me through so much.
