hello! I played a couple of hundred hours in june/july and unsubbed in august last year after reaching level 60 (? max level in shadowlands) on retail.
I'm a solo player so I tend to quit MMOs when I reach max level, due to every end-game activity being group based. I have a couple of characters on TBC as well, and i remember having much more fun levelling my TBC hunter than playing the retail game. I consider it my most enjoyable MMO experience. What's there to do as a solo player when reaching max level in either game version? I didn't like that there's an enormous world where you can pretty much one-shot everything and never getting any useful gear (in the open world) as a max level player on retail. What I loved was grinding for rare drops and crafting resources/crafting items and fishing, as well as playing the auction house/economy/flipping items.
Since then I've dabbled a bit in Albion Online (loved the gathering/crafting and auction house, didn't like the forced pvp) and FF XIV (loved the gathering/crafting and bard profession but combat and story was boring), but I always thought back on WoW and its interesting world, relaxing fishing and levelling experience. Has it changed much in the past year? I'm considering a re-sub just to have a look but I would guess it's more or less the same today as 9-10 months ago? Any inputs?

its fairly easy today

i cant think of a reason why anyone would buy it then for 1.5mil
