I believe they become available at level 35. If you're over 35 and don't see the quests, then enable tracking of low level quests by selecting "Trivial Quests" on the minimap from the 🔍 button
If you already completed the quests, then just talk to the npc at the helm of the ship

It should have a 6 second cooldown by default; but I believe Arms and Protection get the cooldown removed from level 13 onwards 😊

You did Twisting Corridors. That's not where you go to get soul ash/cinders

You have to do one of the other two wings--which are only 5 floors for each layer--and the end boss drops your soul ash/cinders, possible legendary powers, and so on
Twisting Corridors is basically like a marathon-style challenge mode for other rewards like achievements, a mount, pets, etc

its especially true when that download bar turns green, because it expects you to be playing while it continues to download

Read the first guide I linked, then just play the game. In many cases, even the questing and leveling gear from Shadowlands will be better than what you'll get in, say, BfA
But it's not like that really matters, because without the current expansion you won't be participating in current content or endgame content

You talk to a repair vendor. If you select the 🔍 on your minimap you can enable the tracking of certain types of NPCs, like repair vendors
That way their anvil icon will show up in your minimap as well as have their nameplates enabled in the world

All race, class, and spec combos are viable for all forms of content until you get to the highest tiers of competitive play--sure, there's a meta, but it's one of those situations where if you have to ask then you're not doing the content where it matters. Experiment, find the class that 'clicks' with you or feels the most fun, and you'll do fine

Nothing wrong with having alts. Different tools for different jobs, plus makes it easier to farm things like transmog, mounts, and even a bunch of gold through casual play on multiple characters
Before I log off each character, I'll send crafting materials and items to appropriate alts and funnel any account-bound items and extra gold to my main
Just doing all of your callings on a small number of alts can gather more gold than you would on one character
It's not necessary but it does help

arcane torrent allows you to apply debuff from spiteclaws on the villager pack AND cleanse it from party pack in mists, for example

It's a very lucrative market, but it isn't easy. You have to pay very close attention to market trends, current team metas, current world quests and pet battle events, not to mention catching and training. Most of my gametime is purchased through battle pet sales, but I also used to be too into pokemon and I've been at it for a while and there's an active pet battling scene on my realm
Honestly, you're way better off just farming raw mats and selling those
