@versed hearth the way the loot system works is that people should be sharing loot with other players - but if a plate wearer can learn a mog he would basically keep letaher, cloth and mail as well and never share it with his mates - that would cause some trouble in some groups - so the way to limit mogs to your designed loot type is to allow for such trades for shareable loot

With OR without the expansion, you'll still need to have an active subscription or gametime on your account to play the full game past level 20 and all of the additional content in the game, including past expansions and both WoW Classic versions.

WoW has been a subscription service for almost 17 years now. I'm sorry you were misinformed or missed an FAQ about this, but it is definitely a requirement

You just need to have 1/800 archeology, and the quest will pop up at the respected npc, you do it, and get the mount, it took me around 2-3 hourd to do it, not that big of a deal @

But as a new player, Classic isn't really a concern. It's basically just a novelty mode for nostalgia, replicating the states of the game before any expansions (Classic) or the first expansion only (TBC Classic) without any of the modern day quality of life updates, content, and improvements

It's possible, but not probable. Most of the best ways to make gold require at least having access to current endgame. So while it's possible I wouldn't expect to be able to for 3 months just to be safe

And even then, gold making is influenced heavily by your server/realm's local auction house economy

Basically, if you have to invest more than 1-2 hours every 30 days to make the gold, you're better off just working a job irl for 1-2 hours every 30 days

You can either buy any subscription plan or just 60 days of gametime, but you'll also need to buy the Shadowlands expansion to access its content, level 50-60, and do endgame content. I recently got back to playing WoW in a new realm, so I started at lvl 1 and when I reached level 50 I bought Shadowlands.
Is it worth it to focus on mechanics from previous expansions after reaching level 50? Like Legion artifacts or the heart of Azeroth, or after reaching level 50 and starting Shadowlands will I have better equipment than these artifacts from previous expansions?

I also don't know if it pays to choose Legion as an expansion to play from 1-50 because of the artifact weapons.

If it is, you might havent done another quest that unlocks it, check your achivement,,Breaching the tomb" for your questline progression.

depends on what you define as "fine" i have a Ryzen 9 3900x and a RX 5700 XT and while those work just fine with wow its just that wows engine is more than unoptimized and it likes to drop down to 50 fps if enough stuff is going on (which is pretty often). Why would it not be? It is relevent to certain crowds but if you want progression it has always been in the new content. Its the same way for Destiny, PoE, Warframe, etc

i only barely touched Shadowlands (I bought it earlier this week) because i thought i should experience more of the lore and story stuff before heading into the very latest but i'll just dive into Shadowlands instead

and intermittently play through the old expansions/areas to experience them

i have started the burning crusade/Outlands now and playing through them to experience wow expansions chronologically

maybe i should make an alt for this and use level locking in order to "inch away" on my progression/levelling. every quest reward should be helpful on your journey, IMO! not just be a transmog or vendor food

@wooden kettle if you want challenge in the old content, then go and speak to Chromie https://www.wowhead.com/npc=167032/chromie. That way you get a harder leveling experience as it is more tuned to the way it was when that content (vanilla, BC, WotLK, Cata, MoP, WoD, Legion, BfA) was fresh. You can also visit an NPC in the main city to stop gaining XP if you want to finish content at a particular level. There will be few people in your shard - most old players will opt for leveling via dungeons for speed, but occasionally you'll come across an old hand like me leveling (yet another of my 48) alts. 🙂

Primary goal should be to get caught up with the current patch content--once you're up to date with the current endgame and patch content, then it's a good time to go back and explore previous content

Shadowlands and retail is the same game. Its just that as the Expansion got more modern so did the game world. More polygons, more mobs, more particle effects. The newer the map you are in the performance gets worse
