Chromie time is for leveling alts (pre level 60) once you've leveled your first character to 60 you'll be able to use Chromie Time to level other characters. nothing is stopping you from going back and doing anything on your main character now just the content isn't going to be much of a challenge since it will not be your level

Ok so to trigger the different expansion starting mission I can find them in normal time with my lvl 60 character and do them in order , I don't have to use chromie if I just want to experience the older expansion ? It's just if you want to really level in the expansion to not stomp on everything . Did I get it right ?

yep pretty much. you should be able to play through the older expansions and one shot everything with a lv. 60. chromie time is just for leveling. i personally like to play through them while leveling. might as well get something out of doing those older expansions

All Chromie Time does is scale content 10-60 for leveling and lets you queue for its dungeons. The content is always there regardless

There are also NPCs in Stormwind and Orgrimmar that can freeze your exp gains so the character stops leveling

Just keep in mind, all of these tools are still just half-measures. WoW's gameplay philosophy is that you only need to play current content to be viable in current content, so old content is not required

Most people get caught up to current patch content and then once they're all caught up are free to backtrack and play old content without worrying about being left behind, while also making the old content trivial in difficulty

The game has been out for 18+ years and is the continuation of an IP older than that from other games and materials, so expecting new players to go through all of that first is not something Blizzard does--unlike some other MMOs

what gumball said is the best way to do it tho. with your main character you catch up on the current events and once you're done with dragonflights content (until the next patch drops) you can do some of the older content. that way you dont miss out on anything.

In shadowlands you actually had to do for every class the entire covenant story to unlock their specific covenant transmog skin. Is it in DF the same? I haven't figured out what the bonus for the specific faction is that you unlock like skins.. or is it just enough to get the renown level maxed on one main char?

The basic sets are rewards from each chapter of the covenant campaign. Variations of the set are also available for anima, achievements, doing the covenant's special activity, or rare drops. But the main covenant themed sets are rewards from the covenant campaign. Once you've maxed out your renown with that covenant, you can use all of the unlocked covenant-specific cosmetics without being in said covenant

And the sets are armor type specific, not class specific. You only need four characters to unlock all the sets of each armor type from each covenant

So my death knight, I transmoged my axe to look like the Ebon Blade Greatsword and when you usually enchant it, it gives it a cool glow. The glow won’t show when I enchant it not at the Ebon Blades hideout. Enchanting it with the runes I mean not through transmog. So I’m trying to figure out how to make the glow appear?

unfortunately when transmogging an item you have to select the enchant then and the DK enchants aren't something you can transmog 😦

the runeforging enchants don't show up in the transmog window so it's either use the transmogged weapon with a normal enchant or use a normal weapon with a runeforged enchant appearance showing (of course i mean just using a normal enchant appearance and not an actual weapon enchant over runeforging)

lehrdaniel is somewhat incorrect. Transmog the weapon first, then apply the dk rune at the runeforge. Make sure that at the transmog window you have the weapon enchant slot on default and not set to "hidden effect" too

Getting a starter account until you can afford a subscription or gametime is perfectly fine. You can take advantage of the free time to level a character of each race and class until you find something you like, play around in different old content, and generally figure out if subbing is really something for you

Worth is subjective. You only need to play current content to be viable in current content, so "late" is never an issue. Create a free Starter Account on worldofwarcraft.com and play it until you feel like you would like to play more, then get a subscription or add gametime to your account. If you want to level 60-70, play current expansion content, current endgame content, and play the new race/class then buy the expansion. You do not need to own the expansion before level 60. You do not need to buy upgraded editions of the expansion unless you want to, and you can always upgrade later for the difference in price

Hey, just started playing wow again (3rd times a charm I guess?), And I wanted to maximize my understanding of WTH is going on in Azeroth before actually buying the game, so I thought about playing the begging area of every race in WoW, but here comes my problem.

1. Afaik, you cannot change on what server your characters are unless you pay, but at the same time there are new players servers
2. can you unlock the 10 special races for alliance and horde as a f2p player?
3. how much grind a month is needed to actually buy game time for in-game money?

4. except for death Knight and Demon Hunter other classes doesn't have their special opening scenarios?

@vale hawk You seem to be willing to help mostly but also can't seem to resist adding in a little Todd Howard like "It just works" spin on things of a piously condescending nature of sorts, putting it back on the person having the issue. If putting animals in the wrong stable slot is the straw that broke the camels back so to speak perhaps the game itself could have given a pop up warning of consequences of stabling incorrectly instead of it and you expecting it be known based upon reading the talent trees and then discovering it after the fact but yea RTFM seems to be where youre coming from, why give the option to have it automatically sort talents/skills in the first place then only to have it cause an issue later?

1. Yeah, you can't change servers, but you're not limited to playing with people only on your server. It does restrict guilds you can join and what AH market you have.
2. You can probably make some progress on some of the achievements, but you have to be level 50 to unlock them, and free only goes to 20.
3. Big. You're looking at the need to get 250k gold per month, and that take a lot of grinding.
4. Evokers have a special opening. Those three classes are "Hero" classes and get special treatment.

if you start WoW like a job you'll likely burn out before even getting to make enough gold to support your gametime with tokens

but if you want some math i can get you something RQ

right now NA tokens are around 220k. you can get 2.5k pretty easy just by doing the 5 dragon racing WQs every reset, which can be done twice a week so you can make 5k an alt every week so if you did ever DR WQ each week for a whole month you could earn around 20k on each character so if you only did those you would need about 11 characters doing the DR WQs without missing a reset to earn a token each month. which we haven't factored in time to do them which is roughly 25 mins so 50mins a week on each character you have to put in 11 hours a week to get 1/4 a token

oh of course there's other gold methods but this is the easier ones to do solo since the only thing that matters is you've unlocked DR WQs and your alts are 60+. not gear depended or group depended.

which is why i'd say enjoy the game first and worry about gold making later

If you're level 70 then you can only queue for random Dragonflight dungeons on normal and heroic difficulty, or Timewalking dungeons for an older expansion during Timewalking events like the one going on right now

BTW, there aren't 18 different starting areas. Allied races start at level 10 in their capital city. Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Evokers have their own class starting zones. Everyone else has the option of starting in the new Exile's Reach starting tutorial zone, but that's only available at character creation while the racial starting zones (aside from worgen, goblins, and pandaren) can be accessed at any time even by max level characters

Keep it anyway. The HoA can still be used in certain old content to great effect, such as the mage tower challenge or during Timewalking

It's also connected to BFA content so it's still handy

If you're low on bank slots you can always buy bigger bags for you bank, or you can make a bank alt

It's possible, but WANTED quests like that with recommended numbers of players are recommended for that many players. WANTED quests can safely be skipped if you can't find a group or can't solo it. You can also try using the green eyeball icon next to the quest to make a group in the group finder, or you can type in /general to ask for help from other players on your map

Nah, yellow just means that you'll get the normal amount of experience since the quest is scaled to your level

Green means you've leveled past it and it will be weaker, gray gets you no experience/honor, and red is higher level and difficult (and also gives less exp/honor)

You can ask a guard for directions once you're in Ironforge--a lesson learned during the city tour after Exile's Reach

Look for one of the large war boards, and next to it will be a herald NPC with a quest to start BFA content

Some realms do favor one faction over another for various reasons, but with cross-faction endgame groups being added last expansion and cross-faction guilds being added in the next content patch, which faction you choose is more and more of a personal preference choice

There is no "best" mount. It's personal preference. A super rare mount from an endgame raid with less than 1% drop chance is basically the same functionally as your first low-res flying mount from a vendor that's older than some players

Depends on a lot of circumstances. Are you pulling too many? Are you using your abilities with the correct priority? Are you using your defensives and heals? Are you kiting the enemy? Are you interrupting or disrupting powerful abilities that they're using against you?

Just practice, you'll figure it out just fine

Yeah it's a button heavy spec. You won't find many with less than that amount of buttons, though.

Fury warrior is melee and has very few buttons. Havoc demon Hunter also has minimal buttons.

In terms of tanks, guardian druid has the fewest buttons. Can't say about healers, I don't play em. Heard Holy priest is the simplest though.

Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Evokers are "hero classes" that have their own unique starting zones tied to the expansions where they were introduced and are generally not recommended for new players specifically because you're not guided to the correct content, like right now. The default 10-60 leveling content is in the Battle for Azeroth expansion zones of Zandalar or Kul Tiras. You're playing in Legion content, which will not scale correctly without a system unlocked later on after you've already leveled one character.

Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Evokers also don't have a proper starting tutorial for the game itself and cannot do the Exile's Reach starting zone

Cross-faction endgame instances were added to retail during the Shadowlands expansion, and cross-faction guilds are coming in the next content patch. Both far ahead of Classic era content

You likely won't see cross faction gameplay in Classic--if they keep making them--for another decade

I've been playing classic wow and i bought a one handed axe that says it does 12-24 damage but when i used it i only got values like 4-9... why?

Do you have a low Axe proficiency?

And are you looking at the raw damage number VS the DPS value?

One number is the estimated damage for each individual autoattack, while the DPS value is the overall value of your damage per second when metered out

Your level of skill and proficiency with the weapon type also comes into play iirc
