It's not really that complicated. You can play a limited access version of the game for free up to level 20. If you want to play all previous expansion content or either version of Classic, then you need a subscription. If you want to level to max and play the current expansion content you need to own the current expansion.

You just happen to also have shit timing where the current expansion has been out for two years and the next one is coming

Sure, worth is subjective and it's your money, but simply by potential hours played even when you count the cost of a sub (50cents per day) and one expansion (less than a AAA title) every 2-3 years then it's kind of a good deal compared to a lot of other things in gaming

If you want to find a good MMO to play and instead want to play League, you're not looking for an MMO to play you're just looking for a bandwagon

I know what I'm doing and knew the game. I'm running way less addons than I did before and literally half of them this time round are cosmetic or UI things since my machines now can run the game in "pretty" mode

for classic start with at most questie for area overlays and maybe tomtom for a GPS arrow since that's also not there, then once you know what you're doing add stuff. do not grab stuff like as Gumball said "Rotation Helpers" as you'll not know the game or your skills, a lot of good skillful play is knowing when to sandbag a skill or 3 and also when to sandbag something for a second or two to allow you to line up a burst either during the kill or to rip a boss as it goes into a death mechanic so the phase is short

this is just a guess but i think the "higher" fov is a side effect of the aspect ratio of the viewport. its more like a widescreen viewport rendered on a 16:9 monitor with the action bars etc rendered (partially) outside the viewport. Do you accept?". It's for literally squelching the whispers from stuff like Barker that you get spammed with on an unguilded alt and also for filtering "I love Richard", "Thunderfury" and "Analysis -ysis" spam too and it also has if needed an infinite block list

ah ok, I assumed there was probably a macro solution. I actually found out that on Steam Deck the trackpad can be used like a mouse and the original menu bar is hidden in the bottom right corner, so I was able to get it working using the mouse pad.

Having them on different servers means having to either buy tokens or farm gold on separate servers

Having them on the same, especially with cross faction and eventually cross faction guilds is better IMO

Counterarguments: classic WoW is now at wotlk with the most iconic villain and story, northrend is beautiful, the story is not so overwhelming at this point and levelling is IMO still a lot more fulfilling than retail's levelling, even with chromie time

Also you will see azeroth before all the destruction by deathwing

In the end a subscription means you can test both, if you like to test earlier or later WoW it's easy
Playing WoW free up to lvl 20 can only be done on retail, though

So maybe do that first 🤷‍♂️

If you're playing the trial on a Starter Account, you're playing on retail. All you need from this point is a subscription/gametime to keep leveling past 20 and for more features

You need to buy the current expansion to play the current expansion and level the last 10 levels, but there's a new expansion launching on November 28th so you don't need to worry about buying an expansion yet

If you check the channel pins and read the FAQ, you'll read more about the difference between retail and classic

as someone who has used ElvUI for years on and off ( playing that is, I've used ElvUI since it arrived )?

1 : as Gumball and Inter said maybe hold off till DF drops unless there's something major you need
2 : be ruthless in disabling anything you don't need. e.g. my setups have player/pet/focus + target/target's target unitframes and that's it. I also disable half the buff/debuff stuff and then filter it down to "can it be dispelled or is it a tank swap stack to watch/is it personal buff I want to track on me" and then "debuffs applied by me" on enemy targets. after that it's very basic party frames and again I track debuffs on targets and boss/raid debuffs on party/raid and for raids obviously track MT/OT
3 : resize anything that isn't needed at a large size like unitframes and healthbars for party etc.
4 : hide anything that isn't needed visible all the time, disable stuff like "show empty buttons" and backdrops, and be ruthless in keeping Action Bars to a minimum and any of them you're using for utilities/professions can be shrunk as well

the biggest trick is to leave ElvUI or similar things till you defintely need them either for control or for accessibility reasons ( I use it due to bad eyes since it allows way more control of the UI elements than blizz does ), and then literally only have what you need on screen. Hell, if I wasn't a filthy clicker half those action bars mid screen would be mouseover/cd only visibility

so first of all you shouldnt be doing Azsuna quests thats Legion content and you should be doing Battle for Azeroth. Once you reach lv. 50 you are completly locked out of chromie time for that character so no you wont be able to queue for that. you might be able to solo it tho later on but that would be a waste of time. you should now just level to 48 then start shadowlands and IF YOU REALLY WANT you Can then with an alt character quest through legion to play through azsuna properly with chromie time scaling

Only death knights and demon hunters have a specific class-related starting area--unless you're talking about racial starting zones. Those can be available for future characters at character creation, but Exile's Reach is objectively faster and has you in better gear at level 10 than any of the racial starting zones

That's not what that is. Chromie Time =/= Timewalking and the allied race start is not the same as the questline that starts BFA content

Getting the divine spirits for the Night Fae conservatory has not evolved past 9.0 it seems

only trough the weekly souls quest and dailies in the maw

When upgraded there's an NPC in the conservatory who will give you a spirit of your choice after collecting 1k anima. You don't spend 1k, you just have to earn it similar to the weekly anima quest
