i think so. as a rogue for example you cant handle much more than maybe 2 mobs even in starting areas. in retail you progress much faster which is why you are able to handle much greater threats than 2 pigs early on

retail wow is still very hard. if you wanna go for a challenge then try to become a mythic raider in retail. thats something that takes a lot of skill and team coordination but classic is just stabbing pigs and wolfs for hours on end

it will let you start in exiles reach no matter what well actually depending on your class like dk or dh those have special starting zones and allied races also start in their own starting zone or in the capital city
the rest tho can choose to either go to exiles reach or to the old starting zone. some restrictions on that MIGHT apply for a newcomer

Right now, how mechanically that work, feign death cancel the AI attacks, so the player will need to reassign their pets to you. It also useful to make others players not targeting you anymore for 2/3s.

I'll be honest; random battleground pvp is really hard
lack of communication and not competitive gear, plus the instances of getting ganged up on so easily makes it a chaotic mess.
dueling people and 2v2 arena was how I learned what things you needed to use when facing different classes
If you can pair up with people for random battlegrounds, it does get easier. You can coordinate so much better and methodically work against opponents.

I used to play this game for a few years, since launch until wotlk came out the first time. Then I stopped playing. I'm back at it now playing the retail version and making my way through Shadowlands. I just finished a good chunk of the campaign and picked the Night Fae as my Covenant (I play a destro orc warlock).
What do you all think I should be focusing on to get ready for the next expansion? Which raids should I try to do? My current item level is about 140 only, right now.

I’d focus on doing the ZM campaign. You’ll end up getting better gear and preparing yourself for raiding but ultimately at this point whatever you enjoy doing since we getting close to the end of SLs it doesn’t really matter.

They are vastly different games both with their own upsides and gripes depending on who you ask
Retail is generally the recommended due to it’s being the most recent, more QoL and just more to do due to the 5 more available expansions along with being more newbie friendly

I've been playing BM hoonter since 1.10, you're talking losing a few percentiles on damage in return for a constantly mobile rotation with no stationary hardcasts
which in raids means way more on some fights than that few percentile, even before you get into the fact that BM are the only folk that can bring things like Quillen to the fights for Combat Res that isn't locked to a healer or the Druid Tank dropping form

also, shadowmeld on nelf is good for avoiding enemy spells and that way you, can keep casting
panda and nelf give you some secondary stats and thats it in terms of dps
but really just take what you like (if you need it rerepeated use paste ;))

So uh... I've been playing Horde characters on the server I'm in and got used to crowds of people in Orgrimmar (friends who intro'd me to the game were all Horde). I decided to make a night elf druid to do a guild storage thing my friend recommend, levelled him to 10, got to Stormwind, got a charter, only to realise after 15 minutes of running around that the city is utterly deserted. Is that a normal thing for servers to pretty much have only Horde or Alliance and none of the other?
Made night elf because I actually prefer their look but started with blood elf to follow said friends

it's not normally that bad, but "one sided" servers have been a thing since vanilla first arrived as quite often as more and more folk ended up on one side the other sides left for more balanced servers
also depending on time in your region it could just be a quiet spell

no sub : WoW Retail to level 20, can only get a certain amount of gold, can't trade to others and iirc can't mail to other players
sub but not Shadowlands : retail capped at level 50, can trade and mail to others, have access to Classic and Classic-Wrath as part of sub
Sub + Shadowlands : capped at 60, rest same as sub but not SL
Retail = 18 years of QoL improvements, better game imo, stuff can be pricey on AH but same time gold is easy enough to make once you learn the game
Classic = grindy grindy for grinds sake, I used to play it when it was WoW and I doubt I'll go back now that talent trees are back in Dragonflight 😄

subscription is every month ( or you can buy 6 month etc at a time ), and expansion is a one off payment
and yes, base edition is just the expansion "DLC". you need epic/heroic for the game time and the cosmetic stuff
@austere meteor you can buy with real cash to sell for gold in game, or buy in game with gold for game time. you can't however buy in game then sell it later for more gold, it binds when bought in game with gold

For TSM to work correctly you should use the TSM Client together with the addon. The client will update the addons auction house data periodically.

I don't know how much you know of DF and if you mind spoilers so I'll put it in the spoiler thing it's a new core mechanic where || you basically get active flying in a sense that you have agilities and a resource to gain speed, also stuff like flying down increases momentum, flying up decreases it. You pretty much get that at the start ||

You don't need to pvp in the underbelly. You can also kill bosses and loot treasures for Sightless Eyes

You get Sightless Eyes in the Underbelly, yes, but you don't need to pvp. Just make sure the guards aren't gone. The minibosses show up randomly, and you can get the Wild Magic Wand from Dazzik Proudmoore that makes them stronger and drop more Eyes
